Yes they have a checklist of rule & regulations. Yes they have an ironclad agreement ultimately protecting the well being of the pup even after adoption if you decide to surrender it. Absolutely they're adamant about these bylaws & it may feel as if they're overbearing & strict. But let's take a step back & realize the s-show some rescues can be... rule of thumb (and best advice) becomes a volunteer & then a foster if you want a good shot at adopting exactly what you're looking for or close enough... I've gone from volunteering with them back in 2012 for several years to doing home visits & pulls from the county to ultimately fostering & becoming a foster failure. Our second dachshund was a straight shot adoption. So we've adopted 2 doxies in the last 10+ years. Be on top of your application (it's only valid for a year) but also do a little more with the rescue to gain credibility. And yes keep your current puppers up to date on vaccines, dental care & neutered/spayed.

You will pay the adoption fee only to find out the dog's vet history weeks later. I foolishly agreed to this only to receive vet records 19 days after the adoption, and then found out about the dental surgery, double cataracts, and a prior bout with IVDD! The Post Adoption contact, Mona S., cannot be counted upon to respond in the event of an issue. I texted her when an issue came up and was reminded that I should email her. I verified the address and emailed her as instructed but got no response. I stopped counting after 40 days went by without so much as an acknowledgement, much less any advice. If you want to know the dog's vet history before you shell out your money, or you want someone to respond to issues after adoption, go elsewhere. I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone adopt from DRSF. I totally regret doing it.

The second time I went to purchase a cat, I noticed they were all in their own cages, and I asked if they are are always like that and they said they only let one out at a time for about 30 minutes. A few weeks ago, I bought my second bengal from here. They said she had a bad reaction to her vaccine so I couldn't pick her up because they needed to monitor her. That was on March 1st, I ended up picking her up 11 days later and she was still throwing up and having diarrhea so I took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with FIP coronavirus and Giardia. I told them that she is still sick and I have Another cat at home. I took her to the vet because she was extremely sick and they told me that it was my fault and it could possibly be a toxic plant. I had at home even though I have a healthy cat at home And they admitted to me that she was not feeling well after her vaccines. It turns out it was not for reaction to her vaccines. It was Giardia FIP and coronavirus. I have been spending $3000 on a cat. I immediately got hit with a $1200 vet bill and a sick kitten that I had to nerve back to life. She was on medicine three times a day and she was extremely underweight. It was extremely stressful. I also found out that they put the kittens in cargo and shipped them from Ukraine, which I think is extremely unethical. Most animal foundations do not let their animals go into cargo cause it is extremely unsafe for them. I wish they would've just given me her from the beginning and I would've helped her get better soon sooner rather than letting her sit in a cage sick for weeks. They won't help with the vet bill. They're putting the blame on me. Even though I could tell something was up with seeing how all of the cats were separated all of a sudden And they admitted that she was not feeling well. They said she has a housemate at the time and I'm really hoping they took her to the vet. When I went to go meet her the first time they didn't let me pick her up because she was feeling unwell and they've had to wash diarrhea off of her. She's five months old and 4 pounds. The vet that "cleared" her didn't document her weight on her health certificate and did not mark her as underweight even though I called them and she was only 1.9 pounds. I'm not sure how they even were able to get her neutered When the requirement for neutering a kitten is 2 pounds. This place is extremely unethical and they will gaslight you saying that the sick kitten is your problem because they don't wanna pay for it and they need to be shut down immediately.

Told me that I needed to have an appointment to see the cats didn't understand why I was there without an appointment. She told me I had to wait to speak to the person in charge of the cats for the day..... then two minutes later told me to go ahead and sign in and go into the room with all the cats.... As I made my way through the crowded messy hallway, a random girl stops me to tell me to make sure my kids don't pull ears or tails (OBVIOUSLY)- no hey I'm so and so blah blah..., then I put my hands on the door to walk in with both of my kids who are very excited and I'm told that I can't have my bag..... it's a DIAPER bag people for the toddlers that are in Tow with me..... I asked if she could hold it for the 10 minutes while we would be in the room and she looked at me like I had asked her in Chinese....at which point I said forget it, this is becoming a mission just to see a couple cats when I could just adopt one off the side of the road. Some of these rescues really have a stick up their ass and do not make the adoption process very excited for families. We won't be back and we'll spread the word.

My…read moreyoungest daughter wanted this black and white kitten, we were going to get it for her but there was a lady saying "she's mine" to the cat. We got there earlier than her so we were sure we were going to get it. But as soon as we were going to adopt her, the lady in the front said she's not available because someone adopted it. Then, I saw the old lady that wanted the kitten to, smiling at my daughter as she was tearing up. And she took the free toys my daughter wanted for that cat. Yes, it's not their fault this happened but I wish people were nicer. My daughter was very sad and an old lady was smiling at that. Crazy! But then we came 2-3 days later and got an amazing cat named "Ellie" she's the best cat we could ask for. Perfect for my kids that's are super active. Things I love about this place: - They let you get 3 free items for the cat. It can be anything that's there. Amazing! - You also get a carrier for the cat to bring home. - Staff is super helpful and nice.

One of the men and lady that I first got close to told me that they had both been waiting there since their arrival at 9:30 in the morning. He also added that the doctor had been spending most of his time walking up and down the sidewalk while talking on his cellphone. He pointed to the doctor on the other side of the street, and I saw it for myself. Yes, even then, he was pacing up and down while talking on his phone. Inside the trailer, there was apparently only one female worker from what I could see. Even though their hours were listed as up until 4:30 PM, at 3:30 PM, the woman opened the trailer's door and told everyone that they weren't taking anyone else, and for everybody to leave. I felt so bad for all the people who had been there much longer than I. They looked so hot, tired, upset. And the pets were also probably suffering inside the cages. So many people changed their day, didn't go to work, had to take public transportation, and so much more to help their pets or strays. They were there to do a good deed, while trusting and counting on a program that was advertised by their county. But, the staff who were there in person managing the "actual program", and who were appointed by the county to offer the services, were completely unprofessional, incompetent, disorganized and unwilling to do their job efficiently and to treat people and animals humanely. Not only were they incompetent, but also arrogant, heartless and disrespectful. It was truly a sad and revolting situation. And they did it, because they were confident that no one there would even know how to complain. They disrespected and took advantage of a very humble and uninformed group of good and caring people.
