Very bad here. When you get a bad attendant, can be terrible experience. Still waiting average of 45 minutes before someone came to clean my father's soiled diaper. As he had hip surgery he needs assistance which some staff here begrudgingly provided. His bed, tv and nurse button were broken ad only fixed during the weekend. I was at Maimonides where I received an operation and treatment following a fall from a ladder. For the sake of convenience, and because the facilities are physically attached to each other, I selected Borough Park Center for rehab. I was there for about 10 days and decided to discharge myself home, prematurely as it happened. This facility was quite grim, the food poor, the staff, with some exceptions, largely unresponsive. I consider the personnel issue largely due to the obvious fact that this place is understaffed - the CNA'S (Certified Nurse's Aides) are overworked and the morale poor. A truly outstanding exception in the care I received was in the person of Eve Romero Zaid (CNA), a person of extraordinary friendliness, ability, competence and compassion, always ready with a smile. The people in the OT department were rather mechanical and formulaic in their approach, but the PT department was excellent, especially my therapists, Ricky and Monica. I can't end this review without reference to the horrible discomfort I was subjected to by the bed, more specifically the mattress, which is covered by thick, HARD PLASTIC. (!!!) If you're confined to one position on your back for 22 hours a day this mattress becomes a major negative theme in your life. I tried moving my body as much as possible to avoid bed sores, begged for a mattress topper or an egg crate foam cushion, to no avail. I do not exaggerate. This mattress was a horror. read more

If you are seeking a rehab with a full staff, provides you with nutritious and appetizing meals, has attentive professional personnel, and supervisors that run a tight ship, then you may want to STEER CLEAR OF THIS DREADFUL PLACE. If you don't heed this advice, you should then expect to be neglected, provided with OT/PT that barely last 15-20 mins and seldom provided daily, fed meals that look like dog food, and be forced to listen to overworked and underappreciated staff yell at one another all day long. The two saving graces are the PT/OT staff who take their jobs seriously, but have too many patients, and the outside staff who come in to provide daily entertainment. Sadly, those short interludes of distraction don't make up for the rest of the nonsense. This place needs a larger nursing staff, a dietician and a kitchen staff that make meals they themselves would eat, aides that feed and tend to the needs of elderly patients instead of wheeling them to the dining hall and retrieving them 6 to 8 hours later, and random inspections by supervisors. Unfortunately, this place is run like its sole function is to milk Medicaid/Medicare for services never rendered and to unnecessarily extend patients' stay. Go elsewhere. read more

I came to my appointment 1 hour before. While waiting already inside , my vitals taken. One of the nurses walks me out of the room because a jewish teacher was in a hurry and was given my turn. The nurse continued to say she is a teacher and I responded and I have a job also and came early. I felt so discriminated and embarrassed. I was practically escorted out of the room to another room and the JEWISH TEACHER was let in to the room I was in. The Doctor arrived late after all this. I hope someone reads this and give me advise on how to proceed. Thank you. read more

My mother had surgery next door at Maimonides and was moved to Boro Park for rehab. This place doesn't even deserve the one star rating but I was unable to review it without choosing. When this facility was mentioned I went on their website and read the amazing testimonials and saw the lovely rooms and pictures ( that were probably from when it first opened, if at that ). The reality is that this facility is dirty, smelly and staffed with the most rude and uncaring individuals. The saddest part is that these old folks who are so dependent on their help are left to pretty much fend for themselves. The day of mom's surgery, she was up and moving by that evening with the help of the therapist. Fast forward 2 days to Boro Park and I walk in to find her sitting on a wheelchair. She was depressed, told she could not get up without the PT. I understand and explained to her that it was probably for safety and insurance reasons. Mentioning insurance ... from her first day I got over 6 calls letting me know that she was only covered for 20 days with her Medicare. I was "advised" that it would be best to change her to traditional Medicare that would offer unlimited nursing home stays. I was treated so rudely when I said that she had decided to remain in the plan she has now as she is only there for PT and will not be in a nursing home anytime soon. She is a healthy woman and we do not need to cross that bridge yet so why mess with her insurance that has covered her wonderfully for all doctor visits for years now. In all honesty after about the 3rd or 4th call from someone different telling me the same thing about the insurance, I had an epiphany ... perhaps it wasn't about my Mom at all but rather how long can they keep her in the facility and milk the insurance!!!! I spoke to her last night and she mentioned she has been cold and has asked various times to different team members for a blanket. She let me know that one of them told her that they didn't have any more blankets. I called the floor station and explained that she was very cold and I would greatly appreciate someone bringing her a extra blanket. I was rushed off the phone to the point where I asked the person who answered how he planned on bringing her a blanket when he didn't even know who I was referring to? Caught off guard, he asked my moms name and said he would walk "right over" to see her. I thanked him and called my mom to say a blanket was on the way. NO ONE EVER WENT TO SEE HER NOR BRING HER THE BLANKET!!! I brought her a blanket alert from home the next morning. I could go on and on.... It is just so sad. Don't bring a loved one to this place. No one deserves the lack of attention and decent human care that is so overwhelming visible in this center. Our loved ones deserve compassion and are to be handled with respect and dignity. Steer clear of this place!!! read more

A lot of things can change in this place. Starting with the care team. There very unprofessional. I had a aide curse me out and rude to to my mom. Everyone in here is so very nasty and have no heart for there job. Just in it for a pay check. The care is not good. I am taking my mom out of here. And relocate. I waited a very long time from my experience here to writing this review. A closed relative was sent here for rehab which lasted about 30 days give or take. For this person's entire stay I had tried to meet with a social worker to discuss this person's home care. I visited the social worker's office every day never was able to see that person nor did the social worker return my calls or come to the room to visit. On the day my relative was being discharged and I was taken her home, the social worker met us at the elevator. I said it good to meet you I do have some questions the reply I got "no questions I am busy" and that was the extent of the care of the social work department. I never heard from the center after that except for a request for payment of $3.00 for something that the person I called did not what for but I was told just pay it. read more

I would rate this place at 0 stars, my mother was put in this rehab center to compete physical therapy, However she never received the physical therapy care she needed, her weight Depleted aggressively, the food is Horrible. The nursing staff IS HORRIBLE, I've never seen a group of nurses so uncaring, Nasty, and unprofessional especially in a rehab facility for the elderly and disable. it was impossible for me to Contact the staff in emergency situations, and ultimately I feel like they are responsible for her decline in life and she passed the 14th of January 2023. This rehabilitation is run by David Greenberg and Isaac. NOTHING that is brought to their attention is ever resolved. They have the WORST technician s and nurse's. Solomon talks to himself. He also break's HIPPA LAW'S by discussing one patients element's with other patients. The technician s require that you buy them item's that they want in order to get service from them. You could be in a wheelchair begging and pleading for them to escort you to the restroom. They just laugh at you. When they have to clean up the mess from the floor you get smacked in n to he head. Ms. Pierre, Ms. Barrish and Paulette Devon or Devine are the WORST. They break HIPPA LAW'S BY DISCUSSING ONE PATIENT WITH ANOTHER PATIENT. ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE OUTSIDE OTHER PEOPLE'S ROOMS????? Not sure how this place is still functioning but the people they hire. Beyond rude and repulsive. The "nurses" have no basic manners or respect. I can't imagine how they are taking care of people. This has to be some kind of violation. Ask these "nurses" a question and they all ignore you or have no response. If you do not know then just say so. They lack respect and basic manners. So sad. i cant give a rating because as much as i wish to give it to only 1 or 2 aids the rest of the nurses aids staff were rude , no care for their patients my mother was there for 5 days and had to be sent back to the ER for hydration, the minute she had an IV she was feeling better never checked on her vitals, oxygen or if she was eating well which she was not at all and made her weaker today a nurse told us if we did not like what was happenning to report him with no care whatsoever anytime i needed to speak to a nurse there was never one at the front desk if not answer i got was I dont know let me get the supervisor but i never saw one is a really shame that a medical facility to help sick people can be so heartless will never ever bring my mom there again ever read more

My mother was a patient at Boro Park rehab for 3 weeks, and I was disappointed with the care she received. If I could give zero stars I would. The whole stay at Boro park was a night mare. The only positives were the PT, OT, social workers and Supervisor Ann on 2 west who was so helpful. Upon arrival to Boro Park the nurse who greeted us had a terrible attitude. Soon I came to realize that's just the way the staff was, most had bad attitudes if you asked for help. Their IDs were never visible so they tend to do whatever they wanted. My mom had periods of confusion with agitation, the staff gave her Ativan, left her unsupervised and she fell the same day. After her fall she was readmitted to the hospital. During my mom's stay, I requested a chair for my mom from the nurse Solomon on the 2 west. Solomon promised to give her a chair but never did. Another day I asked him again for a chair and he just blatantly refused. I also requested that my mom's urine be sent off for testing since she had symptoms of a UTI. My mom was crying in pain. Solomon the nurse told me that he could not send her urine because he did not have a doctors order. I asked him if he could please contact the doctor and his response was No. It was not until I spoke with the supervisor Ann, the urine was sent off and it came back positve for a UTI. I met Ann at the very end of our stay but she was sweet, caring and helped out where ever she could. Boro Park need more people like Ann. My mother was admitted to the hospital for dehydration and a fall she sustained while at Boro park rehab. Upon returning to Boropark, the staff refuse to give her a liquids in her diet because of an error on the discharge documents that showed the wrong diet (puree, no liquids). I had to call several times to get this issue resolved. On other occasions we had to go to the rehab and demand our mother get washed up since most times they would not wash or change her. On discharge the Nurse Practitioner Kamala E prescribed my moms medicine to the pharmacy but it was mostly incomplete. I asked for calming medication for her agitation since she was seen by psych at Boro Park who recommended haldol, activan po but NP Kamala did not prescribe any calming meds. She sent prescription for apixaban twice daily but only gave 30 pills instead of 60 so we ran out. Keep in mind the apixaban is for blood clots so this could be dangerous for the elderly. She also send insulin pen with no needles, she sent glucometer to check blood glucose with no strips. When I finally thought I had everything, the strips for the glucometer was the incorrect one. When I contacted the nursing home to speak to the supervisor she told me it was my responsibility to make sure the prescriptions was sent properly, go to our PMD and hung up on me. Keep in mind my mom is sick and could barely move. Thankfully my mom had me to advocate for her. Other patients may not have any one to advocate. For these reason , and many others I would not recommend Boro Park rehab. read more

Before my dad passed away in April 2017, the experience I had to go through is so excruciating and tormenting, I still have trouble sleeping and I occasionally get nightmares 'til this day. My dad was supposed to be in end stage hospice care. For some odd reason, he was checked into the 6th floor for long-term care. That's where all the crazys are. One lady was stealing my dad's lunch. Some nurses forget to give my dad his pain meds while he was left laying there in pain for hours. You won't see any signs of help until hours later. It felt like forever. I got him transferred to another floor. Things were slightly better, but there was hardly anything done for my dad's pain condition. Whatever they were giving him wasn't working. The social workers can only do so much. Dr. Po Cheng Chu was supposed to check on my dad. He never did. He predicts my dad will have about 2 weeks to live. I had to threaten them to get them to hospice care to get his pain condition treated. My dad passed the following morning. That was less than 1 week. My overall experience was horrible. Some of nurses and staff members are truly helpful, but the battle of caring for a loved one going through the end stage is a lonely journey. Til' this day, I still don't understand why he was transferred to longterm care, where he was experiencing pain everyday, instead of hospice care. It's personally a fishy issue. If your loved one is being admitted here, prepare yourself emotionally because they won't help you with this. read more

Horrible facility, they gave my 92 year old grandmother an open wound on her leg by abusing her which they refused to bandage, made fun of me and my father when we tried to help my grandm other, don't give showers, don't care about residents, leave clothes dirty, mix up the laundry. And most importantly ARE EXTREMELY DISORGANIZED. If my grandmother were dying, chances are they wouldn't realize. read more

I have never came across an organization where the level of rudeness has reached the level that is here. Added to their bringing rudeness to an act form is matched only by their level of we don't care. Unfortunately, the negatives far outweigh the positives of this place. Let's start with the fact that out of a huge staff of PTs and OTs, only a handful actually care about their patients. If you are lucky enough to get Lynne in OT, then consider yourself blessed. I won't mention names of staff on the opposite end of the spectrum, but a lot of the trainers need to find jobs that are more properly suited to their personalities. You guys are dealing with elderly, non-ambulatory, sometimes incontinent individuals. Showing your blatant frustration and boredom (my mother's PT constantly looking at her watch, waiting to get on her cell phone, and wishing she was doing about 100 other things), may go unnoticed by your patients, but certainly not by visitors. Rudeness and downright negligence by the nurses and nurse's aides is rampant and inexcusable. Ring the bell for an aide to take you the bathroom, and 9 out of 10 times you will need a diaper change due to the neglect. Ask for assistance and the attitude is such like you have asked for the impossible or are putting the staff at great inconvenience. Better hope that you are given your medications thoroughly and completely. ....can't tell you how many times meds were supposed to be given BEFORE meals that were actually given AFTER meals. Speaking of meals, it goes without saying that they are horrible, which is why I had to bring mother outside or home-cooked meals. Socialized health care at its best, folks....thanks to Barry!!!! 21 days is the maximal stay for patients on Medicare. Doesn't matter how old the patient is or how far they have progressed. Come day 15 or so, you will meet with a "social worker" who is supposed to act as an advocate for the patient (what a joke!!) who will do everything in their power to get you to agree that on day 21 you are to be discharged from their facilities regardless of your progress. They don't even discuss the possibility of an appeal. Clearly, they are acting more as a tool of the director of this abomination clinic, then looking out for the patient's well being. Seems to me a possible lawsuit in waiting, if mother should re-injure herself at home due to the inadequate care she received here and her clearly premature release. While I feel my mother is not ready to return home at this time, I take comfort in knowing that when she leaves this unfriendly environment, she will receive the nurturing care from friends and family that she needs in the comfort of her own home. Major overhauls and reorganization of this institute is clearly what is sorely needed. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. If you want your loved ones to live long and prosper do not send them here. The staff is beyond incompetent. They lost my grandmothers cancer medications multiple times. They always forgot her eye drops. They left her wet and soiled for hours on end. apparently policy is 3x a day. How is that ideal for a person on hydralizine that makes her go to the bathroom constantly. There attitude and demeanor is atrocious. They act like they'll never get sick and old and as if they have no loved ones. I wonder if they'll like for me or anyone else to treat there loved ones as they treated my grandmother. Many of these types of facilities have the same reputation. Is honestly disgusting that in the United States the elderly are disrespected and disregarded. My grandmother had kids and grandkids that advocated for her. Can you imagine the individuals who cannot speak and cannot advocate for themselves being in a disgusting place with disgusting people. I urge you consider if you would want this treatment for your loved ones. One can argue they're short staff. To a certain extent I comprehend. I work around a hospital and I know patient care is difficult work. But I try my best to be positive and smile and provide a pleasant atmosphere. When myself or my family will visit we will do everything and take the load off the staff. They should appreciate and be kind as opposed to rude and obnoxious. read more

I originally wrote this review on August 17th & gave 1 star. I am adding an addendum at the bottom & raised the rating to 2 stars- mainly because of the great physical therapy my mom received). My mom has been here a week. I've held off till now but cannot avoid writing this review.If you are considering sending your elderly parent or relative to this rehab center i urge you to visit other rehab centers and try to find a better one. As in a rehab center that won't run out of the pain medication that your 80 year old mother is supposed to get. And will also not show up with it two to three hours late most of the time that they do have it. This is with constantly asking for it ahead of time so they will have no excuse not to get there on time (Despite the fact that it was ordered by the hospital she was in, & prescribed in her discharge papers given to Boro Park Rehab, narcotics are only given by demand.Even though she is supposed to get it every six hours, technically, if we do not ask for it every time, she will not be given it at all. So we ask early, because often the wait is two hours, often it s is 5 hours or more- ridiculous. i usually even ask the nurse going off shift to remind the nurse coming on. I try to stay one pain med ahead). Also, try to find a rehab center that will not 85% of the time feed your diabetic 80 year old mother sweet meals such as sesame chicken and ice cream for desert..glazed sugary carrots. We've only told them (nurse, attendants, nursing supervisors, medical directors) about twenty times that she is diabetic. The nurses here are mostly really nice &work really hard. Some of the nurses are spectacular, really great, caring, & super efficient. Personable, real, not phony. The same goes for the technicians, or attendants. The staff is mostly great. The problem is they are understaffed so the staff is overworked. I do not blame the staff, i blame the administrators.. IF you are not prepared to practically live in the rehab center and still fight for every little thing, do not send your relative to this rehab.Even with being there & being on top of everything, everything is a battle. Again. I do not blame the nurses , the physical therapists, or the attendants. Blame the administrators. The place is understaffed. One nurse should not have 32 patients to care for. Medication should be ordered well ahead. Medication should not be run out of, & then they tell you it is hard to get cause it comes from the Bronx. Also, if you don't watch them, they'll play games with the physical therapy/ occupational therapy. You have to let them know right away that you expect your relative to get the therapy that the insurance company is getting billed for. And that you will not stand for no therapy on Saturday cause it is Shobbes. People are sick on Shobbes, heal on shobbes. &Sunday too. And an hour of physical therapy & an hour of occupational therapy is not your mom in a wheel chair in a room for 90 minutes receiving 20 minutes of attention.. BTW. From the get go, i've made my my complaints to the right people. including the head nursing supervisors. The head nursing supervisor gets things straightened out, & with the nurse practicioner, then there still is a problem getting meds etc. Then it is straightened out again. Yesterday another problem getting meds. So, around noon, i physically found the Medical Director, Dr Zimmerman. He said don't worry, i will take care of it. Well, this morning they did not have my mother's pain meds. Finally around 6 hours too late, she received them.. She is supposed to get them every six hours. But now they said they may not have them at all later today. Because i like the nurses there, because 99% of the attendants there are great, I've held off complaining on yelp. I do not want them to get chastized. They do not deserve it.It clearly is the fault of the administration. Same for the therapists- some are great.. as far as the less attentive ones, well, they are given too many patients at once... Rehab therapy should be personal...but the administration doesn't follow that creed. BTW, the beds look like 70 years ago they were infirmary beds in a prison.The inadequate thin, short side rails are made of steel.The rolling trays are damaged, the bottoms peeling paint A room they tried to put my mom in had mold on the wallpaper that was falling off the wall next to the air conditioner. The room had not been cleaned for a new patient. There's more. Update, August 30th. My mom left rehab yesterday. In very good condition for a 80 year old who had a hip replaced 3 weeks ago, The therapists happen to be excellent. I must stress: If you cannot station yourself or a responsible person at the rehab, this is no place to send your people. But if you can dedicate yourself to advocating round the clock, then it is ok. If you are nice and correct, the staff will respond to your relentless efforts. read more

The facility does not communicate with patients and their loved ones at all. My husband has become more confused and depressed while there. I have never spoken with a doctor, the administrators are completely unresponsive. Patients have no privacy. Patients have visitors 24/7 which prevents the roommate from getting any sleep at all. My husband did not receive his admission packet until he was transferring out of there. I spent many nights crying because of the lack of care. I believe the nurses and floor staff Work hard but they dont ha e enough staff to service the patient's needs. Perhaps that is why they have no time for patient care. My husband deteriorated while there and transferring him out has been hell. read more

My Relative spend time here 2018 .This is a joke of a facility ,the building is beautiful but once you enter you realize that the management is running a charade .They poorly staff the floors with nurses who are New with no experience .so you get sub standard care. The other issue is their dietician -arrogant and never available - she seemed to be doing her household errands during work hours - come for a few hours make rushed rounds showing everyone they are working but this does not address the patients concerns on time . Also they can't seem to hold on to doctors? They get rid of the good ones - only ones remaining are from a certain community or are not even doctors but PA's ! My grandmother had a fall at 4AM that required stitches to a 3cm laceration. I spoke to the night nurse on duty and she said she didn't fall and must've cut herself with the call bell. My aunts and uncles showed me pictures of her bloodied forehead, bruised eye, and swollen/bruised wrist. Tell me again how you don't think she had a fall? I called again to the facility to inquire how my grandmother was doing and the male nurse in duty kept telling me he doesn't know anything other than all the residents are in the dining area now, it wasn't his shift, he wasn't there to see if my family had come, etc. No sense of responsibility!! read more

Either no one answers and the receptionist tells me they must be in a meeting, or I go to voicemail, whereupon I leave a message that is never answered. I also messaged them on Facebook on Thursday night. It's Monday morning and I have no response. My aunt received a bill that includes dates after her discharge date. Monday, June 19th Time: 11 PM The nurse in charge on the 8th floor hospice care -she is TERRIBLE. Asked her if it was time for my boyfriend's grandpa's pain medication and she told me to hold up while she trained another female. I stand there patiently waiting and she tells me there's no need for me to stand there and to go back in. She finally comes in 5-10 minutes later, places the pain medication, and leaves... So had I not reminded her, would she have not prepared the pain medication? Once she left, we found she did not properly set up the fluids so the system started beeping. Chased her again to come back and fix it. My boyfriend inquired and asked what's the difference between the bag she brought in and she just responded: "Someone asked for pain medicine so I brought it". She doesn't explain anything and leaves again. We looked at the bag she added and were confused why she added the same bag that was already there. Usually, we saw that the pain medication was injected. I stepped out to find her and inquire. She didn't understand my question and even questioned my relation with the patient. She rudely asks if it was our first experience with IVs. I'm thinking you're the nurse so you should be properly explaining and addressing any questions. She responds with arrogance. Honestly we wouldn't have had so many questions if she had just explained everything clearly in the first place. Seriously, AVOID AT ALL COSTS. My first one star review ever. read more

We found our family member on the floor by his bed. He was at risk for fall and they neglected to care for him. He sustained a left hip fracture. Unable to walk, high risk for surgery. Also sustained an abrasion under chin as a result of the fall. And within one week at the facility he has a stage 2 pressure ulcer. The outcome of the care provided here has devastating consequences. And to make matters worse the staff unable to provide any explanation for the fall. Care of the residents are neglected. Please take your loved ones somewhere else. A place where they will provide safe and patient centered care. read more

My mother was brought her after getting her hip replacement surgery and they only gave her less than a week of physical therapy, LESS THAN A WEEK. She was discharged and can barely stand or walk. What was the point!!! What exactly did the staff do here. Plus, they discharge her and told me that I need to give her a daily injection that they were giving her while she was here for a week. WTF, shouldn't a nurse or a nurse practitioner be administering that. I questioned them and asked the front desk staff at the desk during the week she was there and they were very rude and just don't care. Never recommend them again read more

I don't recommend anyone to this nursing. I personally saw how one patient there was mistreated and the staff didn't care. Have the relatives of this patient seen that way of treatment, they would have complained and get really mad. Also, the staff demonstrates coldness and an attitude of "I don't care." Unfortunately, all they care about is money. If you don't have insurance or money, they don't care about such patient. It's all the contrary to what they advertise. This is why I give them only one star. It doesn't deserve more. read more

Dreadful place It is like calling a penitentiary. Half the time they hang up on you. The other half they sound annoyed to have to talk to you. My ailing father calls it a "warehouse." His personal belongings and books are stolen, and his mail rarely gets to him. Shameful facility. read more

This is the worst long term place so far to leave someone and be cared for because they don't. Nurses are distatasteful and nasty. They do their job with a bad attitude. And most of the time pretend they are doing it. You are lucky if you have an assistant that will willingly do something for you as a patient. Furthermore there must be no class with the employer if this is who he or she is hiring. I want to have my relative away from this place. So run the other way if you think you'll be getting some kind of care at this Boro Park Nursing home or rehabilitation center. You deserve no star but if I must it would really be a half not a whole star. read more

Medical Director Dr. Zimmerman illegally evicted my father from Boro Park Center because I told him that my father is not to be given thickened liquids. The thickened water they use has aspartame in it. My father is already very malnourished and has multiple bed sores, some of the bed sores are very deep. read more

Would you like to visit the Museum of 19th Century Healthcare? Then look no further than this in-patient rehab affiliated with Maimonides. It gets 2 stars instead of 1 for one reason only: look. The place is very pretty and nicely decorated and cheerful-looking (the lobby and the 4th floor, at least). But looks can be deceiving. The staff is very blase. I have yet to find out who has a medical background there. Most staff seem like glorified babysitters. The most common things you hear from staff are: 1-"ask the doctor" which is funny because after 10 days I have yet to see a doctor and 2-"do you want ice?" They love to ask that question, perhaps to make up for the frequent lack of air conditioning in the rooms. Since I have been there I have seen 1- a patient fall off her bed and no one on staff do anything but scurry around pointing fingers for 9 minutes while the woman stayed on the floor- I timed it; 2 - a staffer accidentally clock an 84 year old patient on the head with a piece of medical equipment and then deny it; 3- a pathetic woman straight out of 'the snake pit' being left alone sitting in a chair out in the hall wailing first names (family?) of people for 20 minutes! Someone help this woman! I understand you probably need to develop a hard shell to work in healthcare but some of the staffers there make Duane Reade cashiers seem like Mary Poppins. My favorite moment so far? Asking a staffer what the address of the facility is because people wanted to send cards and flowers. 'I don't know,' she said, and she was quite amused that she didn't know the street address of her employer. When another staffer piped in with the address, I found out later she had given me the incorrect address. There have to be better rehabs than this. Do you want some ice? read more

My moms condition worsened at this facility to the utmost degree. They did very little physical rehabilitation if any as this was needed for her to recover from an ischemic stroke. Weight loss was dramatic & rapid and hardly nothing was done to improve her appetite.Over the course of 11months, my mother's body could only take so much sicknesses, infections & ultimately a head injury as bleeding on the brain just occurred out of nowhere--this woman could not walk so how did this happen?! Trying to have her moved was hell when it came to dealing with her social worker. Whenever she returned my call that is. This other facility informed me that the nursing notes from boro park revealed that my mother supposedly threw herself from a bed which I do not believe for a second! Why was I never informed if this did indeed happen? She'd be soiled all damn morning. Nurses usually tend to her after 11am. (10 on weekdays) I can go on for a while. Her social/case worker Yafei Cai didn't even have the decency to call me when she learned my mom passed away over the weekend (she was off) Tuesday is when she decides to call me. Tuesday! If you can care after your loved ones yourself, do it. That's a horrible fate; to be in such a weakened condition & at the mercy of people who don't care about you. read more

If you want your relative to die then send them here. My aunt was sent here to "rehab" from pneumonia 3 weeks ago. She started having nightmares and dillusions and NO ONE there would listen. She was admitted with a UTi that NO ONE followed up on until we asked them. There was no follow up CXR until we asked them to do it. She developed huge blisters on her feet and was NOT going to any rehab even though they insisted she was. She was discheveled and not eating and no one seemed to care or notice. We filed a complaint on their hotline and demanded a family meeting. The Nurse Practioner told my brother he was a trouble maker and combative. One of the nurses mocked by sister in law for asking her a question and then started to taunt her when she turned her back on her to speak to someone else. My aunt is now in respiratory distress and back in the hospital and probably will not make it. This place needs to be investigated by Medicare and Medicaid immediately and I will be filing a complaint with both agencies on my aunt's behalf. This is a horrible facility with staff members who are rude and need sensitivity training. If you don't want to care for the elderly then GET ANOTHER JOB. read more
