The boyfriend is Balkan so coming here for a pljeskavica is a must. The price has gone up a few dollars in the past years but it's totally worth it. This joint is a small hole in the wall but is fantastic. Pljeskavica is a grilled burger made Bosnian style with lamb and beef served with sour cream, onions, lettuce, tomato and avjar (an eggplant based sauce). You can order the regular burger or the one that has cheese inside the meat. Pljeskavicas are not as good as the ones I've had in the former Yugoslavia but it will do for NYC. It's huge and filling and you will want to come back for this Balkan burger.

A Bosna Burger is the best if you're looking for an express taste test. Giant patties, round and delicious. Subtle spices to fulfill your wishes. Authentic hole-in-the-wall. Bench outside. Try it out and take your tongue for a ride.

First time having Bosnian food but def don't intend on this being the last. The order was completed quickly and the cevapi was perfectly grilled. The veggies were fresh and the bread was as fresh as could be. Made for an amazing experience. Not to mention the two chefs were extremely kind and hospitable. I'm so happy I tried this place. The baklava was really good also. The softest baklava I ever had. 10/10. Would come here again. And often.

I have to agree with most reviewers this is a real gem and whole in the wall place, a type of place you visit to experience taste of Balkans. The place is tiny, the cook was attentive and very nice. Should've asked for more Ajvar on my pljeskavica but but that's just my preference. I wish the place was closer to home, it took us some time to drive to it. However I will definitely come by again but next time will try ćevapi since their meat is very good. For the type of place this joint goes for I give them 5 stars. They deserve 5 stars in their category, not fancy, hole in the wall with awesome couple of ethnic dishes.

From their menu - ---------------------------------------------------------------- Pljekavica Our celebrated Bosnian style burger, being voted the best burger in Queens For past few years by the "Village Voice," grilled to perfection ...... $8.00 ---------------------------------------------------------------- Well, it's not exactly a burger ... it's more of a thin nicely spiced sausage patty of lamb and beef. The sausage disk is about 8 inches across and is cooked on a gas fired grill. There are satisfying spurts of flame as the grease from the lamb hits the open flame. It's served on a puffy Bosnian pita that's been nicely warmed. It can be ordered with a yoghurt based sauce but I prefer it with diced onions and Ajvar, the red sauce of Marshall Tito. At first glance the finished product looks like a personal pizza but it's much better than that. The spicing is the same as the Bosnian cevapi sausage links and doesn't need much doctoring. I put on the barest sprinkling of salt and if I'm feeling frisky I add some red pepper flakes. The burger at Bosna Express relies on it's spicing and the blend of beef and lamb rather than sheer size. It's only about 8 oz. It would never replace a regular burger but it's a wonderful change of pace. When Pat LaFrieda starts making these they'll go for $30. In the meantime you can buy one for $8.00 in Queens.

The taste of home. The burgers and/or Cevapi are must have ! I wish they start serving the French fries to go along with it.

Chewy overcooked meat, old lettuce, a glob of sour cream and half of tomato slice on what was basically 2 day old pita bread.

Sherry, the owner, personally served us and was incredible, so warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do. We also had the chance to meet her husband, the co-owner and chef, and it was such a pleasure to tell him firsthand how outstanding the food was. They are both unbelievably kind and welcoming. Now the food, wow. I had the Falafel House Platter, two friends ordered the regular falafel platters, and my wife had the gyro platter. Every single dish was stellar. Everything is made to order, and you can taste the freshness in every bite. The falafel was hands down some of the most flavorful and perfectly textured I've ever had, crispy on the outside and tender and herby on the inside. The gyro was high quality, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right. Even the rice was thoughtfully seasoned and delicious on its own, which says a lot. The service, the atmosphere, and the food were all unreal. Truly a 10 out of 10 experience from start to finish. We will absolutely be back.

We decided to dine in instead of grabbing to go. It's a small and intimate spot few seating, like a mom and pop restaurant. Service was friendly. The lady at the register greeted us and explained that everything is made after it's ordered, so there would be a little bit of a wait. She pointed us to a wall full of games that we could use while we wait. Super cute and tons of options. We opted for connect four. They don't serve alcohol. We opted for the alcohol free Egyptian beer Laziza (which she said translates to "delicious". We had the peach and green apple. Both were good but I personally preferred the peach. The food came out hot and fresh and really didn't take too long. We had the lamb and chicken over rice , the falafel, and the shrimp pita. Everything tasted great and the portion sizes were very filling. I was not able to finish my chicken and lamb over rice.

I went back for a weekday lunch recently and the food and atmosphere both hold up fabulously, so it makes sense why they've remained a brunch mainstay at both their East Village and Williamsburg locations. I enjoy that they serve their hot moroccan tea in a glass as is traditional, so you can see all the fresh mint leaves in your cup. I had tea like this multiple times a day during my trip to Morocco a few years back so sipping on this here took me back in time. I ordered a short stack of their blueberry pancakes which were very fluffy and delicious. They're not the kind of pancake with crispy edges, which are my preferred kind of pancake but I still found them satisfying. The moroccan eggs, which are two poached eggs in spicy stewed tomatoes and served with zahar pita is a delight. The pita is very fluffy and the zahatar adds such a nice fragrant spice to the bread. They used to serve this with potatoes but now those come at an additional charge but are well worth getting. The Williamsburg location also has pretty good wifi and they let me work on my laptop through my brief stay there. Kitchen was speedy too.

It was a little hard to hear and converse at times as it gets crowded, but the food was delicious and there are really unique items on the menu. Food: The duck shawarma was one of our favorites! The lamb and scallops were also flavorful and tender. The dips were delicious with the pita, but I wish the serving size for the dips were bigger. The fries were great - well seasoned! We were lead upstairs to a table. There were 7 of us The seating was cozy but not cramped. We started with 7 family style small dishes: Hummus with Falafel Pops (chickpea purée, tahini, falafel, olive oil), Spring Burrata (roasted cherry tomatoes, toast, basil oil), Hamachi Crudo (passionfruit vinaigrette, citrus zest, cucumber, mint, sesame tuile), Scallops (carrot puree, serrano pepper, brown butter sauce), Tenderloin Skewer (zaatar chimichurri, fresh herb salad), and Shiitake Stuffed Grape Leaves (tomato coulis, yogurt foam, herbs). Everything was delicious. The hummus was well seasoned the falafel had a nice crunch. It went well with the warm puffy gyro bread that came to the table. The burrata was wasm and creamy. I love the vinaigrette on the fish. I ended up eating most of it. The scallops were the sweetest, most tender ones I have ever had. The tenderloin skewers were tender and well seasoned. I liked the grape leaves but the rice consistency was very soft almost mushy and you can barely tell there were mushrooms. There was barely any mushrooms flavor. Next we all chose an entree. I got the duck breast, my husband and daughter each had the beef tenderloin. The duck breast was smaller than i expected. The skin was nicely seared and very crispy but boy did it give my jaw a workout. It was done medium rare. It was juicy but tough. The small beef tenderloin was tender and smoky. The waiter poured the sauce over the tenderloin for added flavor. Finally dessert was a fruit plate with ice cream and pudding. The fruit was fresh and the flavors of the ice cream and pudding unique. It was a nice end to a good brunch. The price was a little expensive at $85 a person.
