Not sure what everyone was raving about. Maybe these burgers were great once, but I showed up for lunch this week for the first time, and my mouth was bored by blandness. The burger is a large flat patty between two pitas. The meat was ok, if not super-juicy, and the pitas were good. Maybe there would have been some flavor had the guy added more of the ajvar and cream than the bare minimum to tell it's in the burger. If you're craving a burger nearby, Amun is way better. read more

Always tasty and the steady stream of customers mean the food is always fresh. Pretty popular here in Ridgewood, Queens and the cook is usually very friendly and eager to please. I love Bosna Express. Its the closest to home-cooked meal .they are clean friendly and fast!! Samunas are the best! Bit pricy but its ok.

Bosna Express is my jam! 7 bucks for chicken and jasmine rice with pita and a small salad. You cannot beat this deal!

Chewy overcooked meat, old lettuce, a glob of sour cream and half of tomato slice on what was basically 2 day old pita bread.

Went here looking for burgers, but they only have a Pljekavica (Bosnian Burger), so I decided to get a salad with grilled chicken. Of course, my carnivorous boyfriend was all over the burger, and ordered one with everything. We brought our food home due to the lack of seating in the restaurant, and were pleased with our meal! My salad was soo good, fresh, well seasoned and hot grilled chicken with homemade feta cheese and just simple oil & vinegar. Sometimes the simplest things done well are amazing. It even was enough for 2 meals, due to the 8 pieces of chicken packed on there. My man loved his burger, I even had a few bites, and I thought it was delicious! The fresh pita-type roll it comes on is almost as good as the burger itself. Def. worth a try if your are in the area. read more

Go. there. now! This place is delicious, especially if you appreciate a good lamb sausage as much as you should. Try out their Pljekavica too (a lamb patty with lettuce/tomato/onion drizzled in white and hot sauce and put between two soft pita halves). The bread is seriously one of the highlights, as it's not your regular run of the mill pita. Another highlight is the grilled and smoky flavor of the lamb. The guy who makes it, always the same super chill guy, grills it right in front of you to order. It's a typical hole-in the-wall place, which makes it even better. There are couple of stools to sit inside but definitely not a big group place. There's a bench right outside the establishment though. read more

Don't expect a big place to sit and eat anything here. This place is tiny and mostly a take out joint but the food is all very fresh and delicious. I came here for the Pljekavica, a Bosnian Burger that had tons of great reviews everywhere. Its huge! Its the size of a hub cap (see the pictures). I asked for it with everything they usually put on it. It was great. Lettuce, Tomato, A Red Pepper Sauce called Avjar, Red Chopped Onions with a Lamb and Beef Bosnian Meat Patty on a flaky pita bread. I'm not much of a burger guy, but this place is good! Unlike American style burgers, the ones here are really thin and flat and could be chopped in slices like a pizza. Personally I love how I can finally fit the entire burger inside my mouth when taking a bite and not have toppings all over my face, like with most US burgers. It's official, we Slavs do it better. The burger was a bit pricy, but it's kinda massive, easily the size of two meals. Also the service was very friendly, which always gets points for me. My husband hails from Bosnia and had been fervently looking for restaurants that serves his cuisine, which is hard to find in large numbers. Bosna Express is a true hidden gem and my husband informs that this is the most delicious Bosnian restaurant he has been to on this side of the world. The Pljeskavica is delicious and a nice large portion. When my husband is missing home, we will head over to Bosna Express for this tasty Bosnian burger. This is a cash only place and there isn't really a place to sit and eat save for about 4-6 bar stools along the wall. We have had to eat out on the trunk of our car on occasion, but the food is worth it! read more

Went and had the plekavica for the first time today. It was big, stuffed very well with lettuce and tomatoes and the cook was quick to prep it but I felt that it was missing certain ingredients and the taste was a bit off. The price was not $7 as advertised here, but $11. I don't think it was worth the $11. read more

I've only been here once, because I moved out of the neighborhood and it's quite a trek now. I'd go back next time I'm in Ridgewood though. I'm no expert on Balkan food, but the food here is good and reminded me of my trip to Sarajevo- it's typical street food (the thing I had anyway, which was several pieces of a salty/spicy sausage on pita with lettuce, tomato, and sauce). I finally made it to Bosna Express this week. There is one "booth" in the place which was occupied by two dudes of seemingly slavic descent who were ploughing through a tableful of unrecognizable meaty delights, one of them noteably using a fork. The guy working the counter was not the brusk slav i was expecting, but a latin dude who i am guessing was from mexico or honduras. Naturally i ordered a pljeskavica with everything and a Fanta. OK actually it was along the lines of "I'll have a uh plez...ka..." "Plezkaveska? with everything?". And then with a smile my man slammed that thing down on the grill and DAMN. i had heard "burgers as big as hubcaps" and had a certain burger-size that i was expecting, but this thing was HUGE, although it was a bit thin, maybe 1/3"? Grilled to well-done it was served in a giant pita-like thing that i would describe as a bready pancake, along with a 'salad' typical of what you would find on a low-budget falafel or shawarma, and some hot sauce. I handed over a cool $9 and took this monstrosity to the bench outside and got to work. The meat-disk was served quartered on a standard 10" styrofoam plate and covered the whole thing. Since i had neglected to grab a fork on my way out, i took to flopping it around one quarter at a time. I would say the first half or so was pretty good, with a nice seasoned-lamby flavor that was in a way entirely new. In the middle of the 3rd quarter i started to think "this thing is too big, i am not going to make it". Around this time a polish/slavic dude came rolling down the sidewalk on a $20k Ducati motorcycle and went into the sketchy bar next door. Then the guys who were inside earlier took off, but not without ordering an additional pljeskavica to-go. I continued to soldier on and made it through the entire meat-bomb with a few strips of "bun" left. The last few bites felt a bit rubbery and were wholly unappetizing, probably due to my over-stuffed state. i triumphantly brought my plate in and deposited it in the trash and exchanged proud grins with the guy working the grill. Bosna Express was worth the experience, i will probably bring a gluttonous friend or two there soon. read more

I wanted to try the Pljekavica - Bosnian Burger for quite a while. Heard about it for many years and decided today would be the day. Bosna Express is quite small and there are about 5-6 seats along the wall where you can sit and eat your food. As I walked in, I right away told him I wanted the Pljekavica. He took out some patties of meat and threw them on the grill. As the meat was cooking he was asking me what bought me to the neighborhood. I told him the burger of course!!!! Through more conversation I found out that the owner is from Bosnia and the guy cooking the food was Mexican! I wasn't expecting the curve ball, but its OK with me he is Mexican. They respect the food. I got one with the works and he assured me its a tasty burger. I ate it and didn't think it was bad, but it kind of reminded me of the ingredients of a gyro assembled in burger format. A square tomato is still a tomato. read more

This is interesting Balkan food. The place is tiny, but the cook is nice enough. I am a pretty unadventurous eater, so I went with the grilled chicken sandwich. I got it with all the toppings, and it was pretty delicious. The red pepper sauce (ajar) and the spicy sauce elevate it to a whole new level. I've been reading a lot about the burger and even though I have never tried lamb, I think that I might order this tomorrow for lunch. Nommmmmm! I will update my review tomorrow!!! read more

Best cevapi I've had in a while. Just everything about it is great. The only thing is its a little pricey... For a small order of cevapi its $8. Its totally worth it though!! I haven't had their pljeskavici but I will definitely try it next time. The cook is very sweet and genuine and always prepares the food fast.
