When I arrived to my appt, I didn't get serviced until an hour after my scheduled time. I got a natural ultra Silkpress which was okay to me, and I also received a trim. I think the trim was too blunt as I reflect on my hair now in its natural curly state. The stylist was very pleasant, outgoing, and kind. I was seen by the owner months ago and I have waited to write a review. Its hard enough trying to find parking in the downtown area so I made sure I left my home in good time so I was not late since this was my first appointment. But why did I rush the owner was 30 min late and never apologized! Its kind of weird standing outside a hair salon that is located in a multi-use building and not an actual store front. Secondly, when you wash and dry a client's hair with extensions you have to make sure the braids underneath are dry. I actually put myself back under the dryer so that I could make sure my braids were dry. I feel that with cost of a wash and set that the owner should invest in better dryers so that it can fully dry the braids. When she finally took me out underneath the dryer, I knew my braids underneath were not fully dried but at that point I wanted to get out of there I do have to say that she is very pleasant but not a hair care specialist or stylist. read more

This was my first time going to this salon (which I found on Instagram!) and it was AMAZING. I received a Silkpress Ultra with a trim. I have longer natural curly 4A-4C hair (thick in the crown area). A little back story: I was cutting close to my appointment time due to a flat tire, so I immediately messaged her on Instagram and tagged her in a picture of my flat tire to let her know. She asked if I was okay FIRST! (how kind is that!?!) I arrived about 15-20 minutes after my scheduled time and apologized and she was so gracious about it. Her salon was clean, cute and welcoming. With both of us in masks, she immediately proved hand sanitizer and check my temperature. (which definitely put me at ease!) She asked questions about my hair care routine and we talked about my hair goals. The entire process was smooth and the conversation was great! (She is so down-to-earth, friendly and you just know she's a true expert at what she does) I look forward to making my next appointment in 8 weeks for a trim. The owner of this place Nikki has a terrible unprofessional attitude! She did my makeup and I did not feel it was worth $80. I asked her to contour my cheeks a little more and she simply said "no!" I wanted to love Nicky but my god! She really frustrated me mostly because her communication skills leave a lot to be desired! I fired her a week to my wedding because I just couldn't deal! Doesn't respond to emails, takes days/weeks to respond to texts etc. I wanted to make changes to the makeup she had done at the trial because I wanted a more natural look as well as my hair because I knew the hair we tried out during the trial was gonna hurt on the actual wedding day and that was a big deal for me!I get it that she could have had things going on in her personal life but if you're running a business, please act like you actually want clients to stay. We had a consultation and discussed my hair history and what I would like to see currently and in the future as far as length and texture and hair health. I wanted a silk press. I have natural curly hair and am growing out a big chop cut. I haven't had a trim since I stopped cutting my hair and shaving one side months ago. Preserving my natural curls is of the utmost importance and she was very conscious of that. She was very clear about how much hair she would trim and why and how my hair will grow out . Nykia used excellent quality products and was very careful in protecting my hair from heat damage. The outcome was beautiful, it was bouncy shiny and I got multiple compliments daily. I went to the salon as a first time client needing major a TLC on my hair as i hardly get my natural hair pressed . I needed a lot trimmed off and she made me feel very comfortable with my hair being shorter . From the start when she washed and deep treated my hair with a steamer i knew i was in good hands . I was so excited for this hair appointment but left feeling just sad. I usually never leave bad reviews for black business owners, but my experience today with this owner has left me feeling completely disappointed in her actions. She was recommended to me by someone and I paid for the full service before arrival. I came in for a relaxer and deep conditioning appointment that I never recieved, because not only did she arrive an hour late to our scheduled 10:00AM appointment, she did not have much hair products available to do the relaxer for my hair type. If you are looking for a stylist experienced in black hair care, Nicky is not it! I did no I feel welcomed in her salon as a new client. This experience was so shocking to me, I came all this way from Cambridge just for my appointment and arrived early for it but only to be shown the door after waiting an hour and provided a refund.
