Danato took his time in explaining the entire process to me before starting the treatment, which included multiple cleansing washes accompanied by steam throughout. He finished the treatment off with a bouncy blowout. I have thick and coarse caucasian/asian hair, and he was incredibly patient and enthusiastic in creating the look that I wanted. The whole experience was relaxing and pleasant from start to finish. Danato was very attentive, polite and detail-oriented. I would highly recommend him for a hair spa treatment or blowout!

Honestly, it's probably two part in what I asked for and booking an apprentice stylist. Wanted long curtain bangs and long layers, cut to just below the collar bone. Got a long bob with, albeit, layers... some of the bangs cut dried and curl into my nose. Again, it's part bad ask and bad haircut. The stylist was working with me and tried to achieve what I was asking for, I just wish there was a bit more conversation about how to achieve what I want. Instead, I was impressed with how the stylist reiterated the hair cut back to me in bullet note like fashion, but it didn't initiate more conversation but instead felt like a: I'm telling you what I'm doing so if you dislike it in the end, it's your fault not mine. Giving 4 stars because I only had the stylist the one time! Don't knock this place until you try it, but this was my experience. I'm posting some reference pics along with my haircut. I hope that this review is taken as helpful criticism about conversing with clients. Wishing all the nest to en salon.

After the gloss was washed out I noticed grays and asked about it. It was then I was told, "a gloss doesn't cover grays. We'd be lucky to get 30-40% coverage with a gloss." After getting home I now realize the gloss isn't even and pulled reddish. I did leave without a blow dry out of frustration so in all fairness I'm sure they would have adjusted that had I stayed. But also, I figured it would probably be fine since it's a gloss but not the case. The manager did offer for another appointment with the owner or another stylist but I declined and they did not charge me. Just posting to help another person avoid this.

It's been almost 2 weeks since I got my hair done By Paula. I found this place on Instagram. I was ten minute late, but Paula was happy to take me. A day before my appointment I called in to book another appointment for men haircut for my husband. The man ( owner) said he will take care of my husband and just come in. I was excited to get my hair done again. It was more than a year since i got my hair done since I was pregnant. My husband, was also looking forward to the apt. because hes looking for a new Barber. So we were excited and glad we could able to be seen on the day. Paula took me in right away, while my husband has to wait for the owner to be done with his earlier client. as I been seated in the chair I tried to explain and show Paula exactly what i want. I do like color it but if the color will damange( of course it will be damage when you color it but eliminated as much as we can) than I can skip the color. She assured me she knows what i want and what im looking for. So I trusted her and let her do her thing. As I getting foil up, my husband still waiting for his turn,and it has been 20 min. in. 5 min. later, a guy walked in for is apt. at 10. The owner done with his earlier client and went on to take the guy who had the apt. at 10. (It wasn't his apt. it was someone at the salon but she running late and he has to take that client). I looked over my husband and sense that he is pissed. I understand that we were late, but hes been waiting at least 30 min. we would have been fine if he would just come and tell my husband, " oh while you wait for your wife, do you mind i take care this gentleman first and I will take care you?" so my husband waiting and waiting endless. While the salon trying to help an employee get to work over the phone. So, as i wait for my hair to be ready for wash, my husband finally getting his hair cut. after the wash, i was getting ready for blow dry and to style. Now that my husband is done, hes back and wait for me to be done. I saw my hair frying as she blow dry my hair. I can see that it is so dry that i can break anytime. She repeatedly " this hair Balayage need to style it in order for it to bring out the color". As she curl to style it, im thinking to myself" i dont have time to curl my hair everyday and place it in place like she does it" the color came out nice, but not what i was asked for. I was not " WOW" with the color since it wasn't what i asked for, plus I clearly mentioned I care for my hair condition more than the color. we went to pay and as i Remembered. When i book my apt. they mentioned 25% off or first time client. But she gave me 20%. Ok, thats fine. no biggie. But it just wasn't what i was told but whatever. My husband was not happy with his haircut ( there are still few strand long and short, not a neat cut.) plus the experience I was ok, not really happy the fact that it took me a year and half to grow it out to be healthy now it back or worst than before. read more

I am writing this review for Elena at Haute Coiffure. The salon in and of itself is okay. Not the nicest salon ever, but Elena makes it worth it! When I originally called to make an appointment with Elena based on her reviews, the woman answering the phone tried to dissuade me from scheduling with her. I asked what Elena's availability was for a keratin, cut and color. I knew that since it would be a long appointment I might have to wait a bit to get in. The woman on the phone was adamant about getting me in the next day with someone else, but I wanted to wait for Elena. After me having to do some pushing for my wants she told me to come in on a Wednesday at 4:30pm with Elena. When I got to the salon, a woman with wet hair greeted me and told me I was her client. She said since I was early she needed to blow dry and style her hair really quickly. Although I found it really unprofessional for the stylists to be doing their own hair, I figured I was 15 minutes early so I could wait. Around 4:35pm the woman came for me with her dried and styled hair and sat me in her chair. She introduced herself as Tiffany and I said, "I am supposed to be with Elena". Tiffany said, "oh! I thought you were my client, sorry!" Meanwhile, the woman who IS Elena could have taken me. Elena actually asked if I had been helped while I was sitting and waiting, but since Tiffany already assumed that I was hers I said I was taken care of. After finally getting into Elena's chair I couldn't have been happier. She was super sweet, professional and did and AMAZING job on my hair. I have long, coarse, strawberry blonde hair. I knew I wanted a change and was debating cutting it all off. She, unlike many other stylists, colored my hair to perfection, cut it perfectly while being able to keep all of the length, and I couldn't be happier with my keratin treatment. Come here and request Elena! I've been looking for so long for a salon that offers the same attention to detail and service as the Japanese hair salon I used to go to before, and Haute Coiffure, especially thanks to Elena, is it. I called on the recommendation of my little sister and was able to get an appointment a couple days later. I wanted to do a reddish balayage or ombre for the first time and I brought a picture on my phone. I naturally have very dark Asian hair, which has to have a lot done to it if brighter colours are wanted. Elena really cares about your hair and will help you understand what options are best so you don't destroy your hair. There was a little miscommunication during the first appointment and I ended up calling the next day to see if there was any way I could come back and blend the colours a little more. Elena was fully booked and I was leaving in two days to go back to university, but she is incredibly wonderful and reassuring and offered to see me early before the salon opened. Even though it was early, and she was going to be booked up that day, she never rushed my hair and still took the time to make sure everything was done just as nicely as the first time, for no charge. I absolutely love my hair; the gradient from a red to caramel blonde is so well done and the colour has depth; it isn't flat and has subtle differences like natural hair would. And it's so bright in the sun! Elena truly goes above and beyond to make sure you love your hair. If you're a student looking to do something new with your hair colour, I'd highly recommend coming to Elena and Haute Coiffure, their prices are very reasonable compared to elsewhere, and their service is absolute top notch. Elena is absolutely AMAZING - I am so thrilled that I found her as my new go-to colorist after a long search of getting mediocre results elsewhere... I can't say enough how pleased I am with results now that I've gotten balayage color two times. As someone with long, thin, and somewhat-damaged hair from processing it over many years, I was a bit hesitant to explore coloring it again but knew I wanted a change. After showing Elena a couple of photos of what I was looking for and her asking me a few questions, she assured me that we were on the same page and then ran with it... Just an hour later, my hair was transformed - the color was absolutely gorgeous yet very natural looking. Along with the color being spot on, Elena gave an absolute killer blowout that was the perfect finishing touch. I recently had the pleasure of visiting Haute Coiffure Salon for a balayage treatment, and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff, and the ambiance of the salon was inviting and clean. I have been really wanting to get an ombre for some time now. I came upon this salon and was a bit skeptical so I called and spoke to Paula who was super nice and gave me a discount right off the bat! So scheduled an appointment with her in just about 2 days from when I called which was really convenient. Once I got there Paula took me right away and I showed her a picture of what I wanted. She talked to me about the color and what would look good with my kind of hair and skin tone. I completely trusted her and let her do her thing. Paula even offered to blow dry my hair no charge (she could probably tell how nervous I was about doing an ombre). Long story short, I'm in love with my hair. It's exactly how I wanted it to turn out and I was so nervous to do it at first. Paula also showed me this product that she recommended I use on my new ombre hair and it keeps me hair so healthy and soft. I am absolutely going back to get a touch up there. If you're going for an ombre see Paula she's the absolute best and she's super sweet. I've had many appointments at Haute Coiffure and I can honestly say that I've never walked away disappointed. A close friend recommended this place to me and he recommended that I see Jen. Jen has cut, bleached, and dyed my hair countless times and she has done this flawlessly; many people gave me complements about my hair since I started going to her, and even more people asking where/with whom I got it done. I have thick natural brown hair and when I went to get it dyed blonde, Jen expertly changed it to the exact color that I asked for while at the same time advising me how I should wear it, what options I have to make it look better, etc. Jen listens extremely carefully to what you want to do with your hair while continually asking for more detail to make sure the job is done perfectly. In addition, having an appointment with Jen is more than just a haircut; she offers awesome conversation that makes the time pass quickly. In all honesty getting my hair done has turned from an annoying errand I had to run every 2 weeks to an anticipated and enjoyed event in my life since I started seeing Jen. I recently visited this salon to inquire about their Keratin services and to check if they accept Groupon coupons. Unfortunately, the experience was far from pleasant due to the extremely rude and unwelcoming attitude of the lady at the reception. I was informed that they would match the Groupon price but charge an additional $30 for my thick hair. This raises the question: why advertise on Groupon if the conditions discourage its use? It felt misleading. The worst part was when I was trying to negotiate why charge extra my husband reacted with a polite, light-hearted chuckle, and the receptionist responded with such rudeness,, accusing him by saying, "Why are you laughing? Does this sound funny to you?" Her confrontational behavior escalated further, making us feel extremely uncomfortable. It got to the point where I had to interrupt and end the conversation abruptly just to stop the negativity. This level of customer service is simply unacceptable. It's disheartening to imagine how they would handle actual services if they treat potential customers this way. I'm relieved I checked in person before committing to anything. read more

Zena was extremely welcoming and professional. She cared so much about making sure we were aligned on what my expectations were and what I was looking for. She took the time to understand and was very open to feedback if I wanted to change anything. My hair is very dark and curly and it is hard to find people who know how to handle this kind of hair. The end result was the best color I have seen on my hair and she did a lot to make sure it stayed healthy. She was dedicated to the process from start to finish and is by far the best hair colorist I have found in Boston! George was very responsive, flexible and friendly when figuring out scheduling. It is usually very hard to get in touch with the salon but he made sure to help provide me with any information needed and was quick with scheduling! He was also very kind during my appointment and brought lots of good energy. The entire salon has great staff who clearly care and are very talented with hair! Edit: If you value your hair, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE I BEG YOU. This man George knows nothing about how to cut hair. He only cares about making a quick buck. If you ask him whether he knows how to cut your style of hair, he will lie and say yes. Terrible job. What is even more unbelievable is after he ruins your hair he will ask you *NOT* to put a bad review. I am saving you all from experiencing it the hard way. Worst haircut ever, showed him what I wanted and he gave me whatever he felt like he wanted to give me. Then when i visibly showed my disapproval of the haircut he tried to gaslight me into agreeing it was a good cut. Sideburns were uneven, the length on the back was uneven, everything was uneven. Honestly, I beg you to save your money and go elsewhere, or have fun waiting weeks to grow out your hair to cut it at an actual hair salon. Please read this everyone ! And I was doing my hair by myself and I lost and damaged hair a looooot ! I'm in the US for 16 months ! And never been in a hair saloon cuz I couldn't trust any of them. All saloons are so expensive When I checked Yelp and Good reviews online. After I decided to get keratin treatment cuz my hair was really really bad. I bought from groupon for this saloon but I still wasn't sure till I go in ! And booooooom MAGIC !! All people in that saloon so kind and professional.. I specially thank to Tiffany and the owner. After that great hi I decided to go to there for the change color. It was around 6pm and they were about close but they understood my station and stayed there and done my hair. This salon is amazing and Zena is the very best stylist/colorist!! I came into Haute Coiffure last week with a botched coloring job done at another salon. My hair was orange, yellow, white, red, and brown (it was AWFUL), not to mention my scalp was burned in several areas due to the improper use of chemicals. Zena had the knowledge, experience, patience and kindness to work her magic on me and within a few hours, I came out of the salon with my blond hair looking better than ever before!! It took her multiple treatments to restore my hair because it was in such bad shape, but she never irritated my scalp, which was shocking given that my head had multiple scabs on it from the prior burns. The products this salon uses are top notch and all of the stylists there create such a warm and welcoming environment. YOU MUST READ THIS REVIEW: I had my hair done by Joe. First I did highlights then Keratine. My hair was a mess before I got to Joe. Not only did he do an excellent job with the highlights without damaging my hair, he did a fantastic job restoring my hair's health. Been doing Keratine treatment at the best salons worldwide and with the top hairstylists, and I had NEVER seen such spectacular results as I did with Joe. My hair went from dry, damaged, frizzy tight curls to straight like a ruler. All I need to do is wash it and brush it as I am drying it, and it falls straight. It does not frizz even in the most humid weather. It is difficult to impress me, but I am blown away by Joe's work. Not only is he kind and caring, he takes care of my hair like no hairstylist has ever done. He works conscientiously and hard to restore the hair's health. I had my haired dyed in December at a different salon and it didn't turn out right at all. I asked for a blonde balayage and I got yellow streaks. I called Haute Coiffure after doing some research for the best places/stylists for blondes. That's where I found Elena! I'm always nervous at first but Elena was such a sweet person. She has great technique for balayage and doesn't process the ends of your hair until the end of the dying session, which left my ends undamaged. Elena then fixed my uneven hair cut from another salon and even triple checked to make sure the color was what I wanted. Not only was Elena amazing but the whole staff was very friendly and down to earth. They wrote down places to take my mom to dinner when she visits this weekend. I highly advise anyone wanting balayage to book an appointment with Elena. You won't be disappointed. read more

I've been following Joe's IG for a while and with no doubt I scheduled an appointment with him and it was the best decision I made for pampering myself, it was a 5 stars service.He gave me a relaxing massage when he was washing my hair , than a balayage ( more beautiful than the picture that I showed him) , a fresh hair cut and a beach waves that lasted me for 3 days and it may last more if I didn't go to the pool , I got so many complements , in addition to his high skills , he's so professional, welcoming, fast and funny. He was using a high quality products, he was so friendly and smiling the whole time and I was surprised when he told me that he has 30+ years experience because he looks so young and handsome , I highly recommend Joe he's my new and all time hairdresser from now on. I came in to get my hair cut, colored, & deep conditioned. Was greeted warmly at reception and offered water, afterwards Avi (or is it Abi?) proceeded to take care of me and gave me exactly what I was looking for! Not only did he do an amazing job on the cut & color (getting the exact color I showed him a picture of), but he was also an amazing person to interact with!:) Avi was super easy going and helped consult me about my next haircut. I was going to purchase a Groupon but called to see if they had availability and they offered to honor the Groupon price if I wanted to just pay directly at the salon (instead of through Groupon), that was fantastic as well :) Thanks for a great experience! I previously had single-process dark brown color applied to my natural hair at a salon, which I let wash out to a medium brown. I asked to go back to my natural color, to match my roots, slightly ashy dark blonde. I was looking to go from a level 6 to a level 8. My experience in the salon was good. My stylist was really personable, and seemed knowledgeable. I did everything recommended including a separate consultation beforehand. The issue was that, for some reason, the stylist had a harder time than expected lifting my hair. What was apparently supposed to be a single process with bleach turned into multiple, and my hair was not much lighter/extremely brassy. The stylist eventually gave up and threw toner in my hair, leaving my roots cool brown and my lengths/ends orangey-red colored. It looked absolutely horrible--I tried to tell myself it looked okay, even if it wasn't what I asked for, but it was god-awful. I tried hard to figure out how to discuss this with the kind stylist. Things completely fell apart at this point. The stylist was smiling and trying to convince me how good it looked, and even said "You'll be back by summer to go blonde!" ...this was really upsetting to hear, as I had come there and was paying a not-insignificant amount of money to do just that. When I went to pay, I was asked to pay close to double the agreed-upon consultation price because, I guess, the additional bleaching wasn't included in the price I was quoted. This wasn't discussed when the initial bleach process didn't reach the intended result, only when it came time to pay. I wasn't able to speak up about how terrible the result was when I had to argue just to pay the price that was set at the consultation. I left the salon in tears for the first time in my life and had to wait for a ride so that I didn't cause a scene crying on the T. It looked much worse. I looked much worse, honestly. I called back multiple times during business hours to ask if they would be willing to re-evaluate their work and discuss fixing it so it would at least be presentable, but no one answered. When I finally got someone on the phone, they completely shut me down and offered no resolution. Not even to dye over it with a dark color, or something. They stood by their stylist's skill and essentially called me a liar. I ended up having to fix it myself. I would not recommend this place or ever come back. I have attached a photo, you can see the difference in the roots vs the lightened hair. I added a photo of my appointment confirmations since the salon responded again saying I didn't come here.

Quality & Service: I had my first appointment here with Lauren - I was beyond nervous with dry scalp, dead ends, and having had bad experiences in the past but she was so kind, gentle, and open to conversation (or not if you're more quiet like me) as well as was awesome with giving tips and tricks. It took me less than an hour for an evaluation of how/where my hair is at plus wash and cut. They worked with my budget in terms of being able to take off the blow dry portion to reduce the cost but still use a towel to scrunch the excess water out (since it's winter out an all) which was very considerate of her. Every step was asked for approval before and / or information on why she was taking certain steps would be given in advance, like if I needed the deep conditioner or whatnot, which I appreciated. I had trouble since I forgot my card but was able to pay via venmo and cash I had on hand- I was grateful they had a quick work around. Additional perks: Usually open after 5, quite a few stylists for your needs, whether a simple cut or cute and extreme coloring and styling. I will definitely be returning and have already made a follow-up appointment. Knowing how expensive and questionable local cuts can be in the area as a student with a budget and limited time, this place is worth every penny and minute!

The best part, or cherry on the top, is that, unlike other salons where you go home looking great and then can't get your hair to look "that way" on your own, ever -- @ Trephin, Nate will literally sit down with you and go over your hair AND scalp needs, lifestyle (e.g. wash and go, or blow dry queen?, AirWrap or regular?) and in my case allergies and let you know exactly which products to use to replicate that look at home, plus what to do to keep your hair in a very healthy condition - which is the basis for all great hair. For example, Nate recommended drops for my hair which also repair the hair, double duty. And a conditioner that I leave in as a styling creme. Because of this I was finally able to get my hair healthy enough to grow long like I wanted to for the first time since I was a teenager. He also helped my daughter with dandruff. I've seen him sit down for 20 minutes with someone who had multiple allergies and find her products to use. He also gives samples of some of the shampoos/conditioners if needed. I call this my Hair Prescription and there is simply no one better!! Definitely in great hands here!

Walking in with multicolored hair, and being told my hair can't be blonde again, I could just tell that she was going to be good. I hit the jackpot with Lynda! I'm blonde, my hair looks healthy, she gives a phenomenal blowout, and I will never go to anyone else again. Lynda is extremely knowledgeable and unbelievably talented!
