Diana Kim lacks the professionalism required for any realtor. As a renter who vacated the unit at the end of the lease term, I received a phone call in the middle of an evening from Diana several days after the end of the lease term where she asked why the apartment door & the window were opened, why the door key was on the kitchen counter, where the other key is, and why paint powders were on the carpet and called me "unprofessional" in a pissed off voice. Afterwards, I reached out to my previous roommate who had moved to a different unit within the same building, only to find out that it was Diana who let the painters into the unit herself and the painters left the windows and the door open to dry the paint after they had done the job. Also, my roommate had informed Diana that the keys cannot be left with the concierge, hence my roommate had it with him. I'm really unsure how she was not able to connect the dots here instead of having to resort to misguided judgements to respectable tenants who have vacated the unit on time in a cordial fashion. Puspa Jelita added a personal, selfless touch to my tenancy that is typically overlooked when working with a management company. Unfortunately, her pros were highlighted by her colleagues cons, and there is very little aptitude for customer service across the team beside her. My rental was OK, but we knew what we were paying for. Puspa continually personalized our experience, indubitably finding a way to accommodate us as tenants without sacrificing the interests of the landlord. I've heard some contradictory reviews on BBG. I can't recommend the entire firm, but I can recommend Puspa without a shadow of a doubt. Thank you for a great year. read more

Absolute lack of professionalism, invasion of privacy, and the rudest agent I have ever interacted with. TLDR: Don't let Mona Masri into your home. It's an invasion of privacy and she will waste your time. Mona Masri is not only incredibly unprofessional and has a complete disregard of other people's time, she is also rude and defensive when you don't just let her do whatever she wants. We are getting ready to move after our lease is up so naturally there are lots of agents contacting us to show our apartment. Every single person from a different agency is nice enough, asking "my client want to see your apartment, does this time work for you?" Mona Masri on the other hand, sends last minute notices and doesn't even ask- she just says "we are coming at [time]". Then she proceeds to waste our time by not even telling us the showing is canceled, until an hour later, after I emailed her. THEN she again has a client who wants to see our apartment, we agree on a time, but this time she OPENS MY FRONT DOOR WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. I was literally finishing up in the bathroom, it took less than 10 seconds from when I heard the knock to walk from my bathroom to the front door and when I got there it was already open. She then tries to argue with me saying "I knocked". KNOCKING DOESN'T MEAN SHIT IF YOU'RE GONNA ENTER BEFORE I HAVE A CHANCE TO LET YOU INSIDE. read more

Buyers/Renters Beware I had the displeasure of 'working' with Serhat O. In my interactions with him I found him to be very unresponsive at communication, and disingenuous as a broker. In-person, he committed to simple communication and transparency that he failed to honor, and then ghosted those commitments entirely so he could gorge on a zero-effort broker fee. What actually happened: I contacted him on Zillow about a listed rental house. No response - thought it was a dead/bogus listing. Serhat sends a message 2 weeks later saying the property will have an open house the following day. I drive out. He says there are already applications in to rent it, sight unseen with rental offers over listing. I said, ok, I'm willing to match/exceed any rental offers if the landlord will consider my application, can you work with that? He agrees. I don't hear from him for 2 days after several attempts to requesting the application. Finally, he returns my call. The house is rented to someone who put in a 'strong' offer. "But you agreed in-person to allow me to apply and to escalate the rent agreement, no?" "Yes, but. . . " What I think happened here: Serhat used this to generate leads, and processing multiple applications was more work/less return than just processing one person's offer/application. That seems like it should be illegal, but unfortunately it probably isn't. Nonetheless, I found Serhat to be unresponsive, unprofessional, and dishonest. Stay away, stay away, I definitely do not recommend it. First of all I would like to state that this real estate company has very greedy and opportunistic employees. I live at 18 Eastman St and we signed a 1 year lease in August. Three months later they emailed us asking if we would renew the lease but we did not notice it. They could have called us directly but they did not. There were still 9 months left on the lease and people were constantly coming to the house and since the employees of this company had the keys to the house they could easily get in. Now they want us to evict us because we did not notice the email that was sent almost 9 months ago. According to Massachusetts law they cannot send a renewal before 3 months of the lease expiration but they think they are right because they added a clause to the lease regarding this. I think it is advantageous for them to change tenants every year because they receive a broker fee every year. Definitely stay away from this business. read more

I want to say that after 12 years of renting in Boston this is the worst experience I have ever had. To originally rent this apartment that I'm in i went through Serhat O the listing agent, who listed all of these amenities that the apartment did not actually have, told us there was no broker fee (and then charged us) and who later scheduled showings for the apartment 1 month after I had moved in. When I moved in there was no countertops and no running water for 3 weeks, while this company allowed contractors to come in and out without my notice. It got to the point that the contractors took pictures of me sleeping at 6 am one day. There was also a broken window in a first floor Dorchester apartment for a month. A few months later I had to go to the city of Boston as this house had been illegally zoned as a one family, and I didn't have heat in my unit for 3 months during the winter. The landlord is very unresponsive, and when I said that I have mice he said "so what". The lease boasts of a maintained backyard, but it's been unusable this whole year with weeds and grass up to 4 feet tall, it is completely overgrown. To top it off, instead of reaching out about a lease renewal, they let people into my apartment when I wasn't home to rent it out from under me. By far the worst experience I've ever had, I would never work with them again. read more

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value As a former real estate agent, I can confidently say that this is the scummiest of the scummiest. Avoide at all costs. The bathroom was broken when I moved in and still hasn't been fixed. We've been without heat twice in the past week and the temperatures have been below 10 degrees Farenheit. The maintenance crew has been renovating downstairs during the covid 19 pandemic and they don't wear masks and also smoke in the building. And they insisted on having an agent come into our unit to take photos in the middle of the pandemic because our lease is expiring in 8 months (one month should be more than enough time to fill the apartment with new tenets). On snowy days, the walkways aren't shoveled or salted by the time I have to go to work in the morning. Stay away at all costs--it's not worth the savings. read more

Lack of communication, Lack of professionalism, shotty finish work on our recently renovated apt, didnt have smoke/CO alarms for first 3 months, constant in and out (no masks) without notice to keep up with consistent maintenance issues from shotty finish work all during pandemic, basement filled with mold, inefficient electric baseboard heat that resulted in 600$ electric bills, outstanding issues with security deposit return. DO NOT RENT AN APARTMENT USING BOSTON BROKERAGE GROUP OR ANYONE ASSOCIATED WITH ALP ENTERPRISES OR BOSTON MANAGEMENT GROUP. They exist to scam students and newcomers to Boston (international students beware!) into a shitty, extremely overpriced, and horrible (verging on health hazard) apartment. I never post negative reviews online, but I really don't want anyone else to end up in the same situation as I did. I rented from them when I moved to Boston last year to start grad school during the pandemic. My realtor was very professional and seemed trustworthy, but DO NOT be fooled by their charm, that's how they trap you into their scam. The apartment I moved into was something out of a nightmare: everything was on the verge of falling apart, the probably decades old carpet on the floors was covered in stains, there were literal holes on the floor and wall tiles in the bathroom, the many cracks in the wall and counter surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom were sealed with DUCT tape, there were water marks/damage on the ceilings, every radiator was covered in a layer of rust, and every corner of the apartment in a thick layer of dirt (I was told the unit would be "professionally cleaned" before I moved it but that was obviously not true). I wish that was the worst of it. On the night that I moved in, I discovered that there was a huge roach infestation in the apartment (to give an idea of the extent of the problem: I spotted at least 30 German cockroaches when I went to get a glass of water from the kitchen that night). When I called in an urgent extermination request, I was met with reluctance, delays, and accusations that the infestation was my fault (they claimed I was too messy knowing that I had moved in a literal 7 hours before reporting infestation). It was only when I threatened to call the local board of health after a full week of inaction that they sent an exterminator. Later, we would also have a mouse problem that they handled just as inefficiently while also trying to pin the blame on me and my roommate. The problems don't end there. They also have no respect for your privacy or safety and have extremely violating provisions in their lease that allow them to enter your apartment whenever they please. Throughout the year that I had been living in their unit, random men would just walk into my apartment (which is extremely perturbing as a young woman) any time of day for "maintenance"( on the rare occasions that they do send advance notice, their favorite phrase is: "we provide keys"), and apartment showings (starting in February for the upcoming September). To paint a picture of how throughly violating they are: one time a man walked into my house for an inspection while I was in my underwear, another time a realtor barged in with potential tenants to do a showing while I was doing a job interview in my room, and yet another time I had to step out of class because a handyman who showed up to inspect my bathroom tried to tell me that I was going to get fined for not using my shower curtains properly because the water from my shower was leaking through the HOLE in their floor into the downstairs unit. The list could go on. All this to say: DO NOT trust these people, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. They are the quintessential definition of slumlords. PS: Any positive review of this group is so obviously fabricated. Do not believe the good reviews, they're definitely not true. read more

BEWARE..do not use this firm to find an apartment...or use in any real estate deal - the apartment was not clean or freshly painted after previous tenant left. - washer and drier is $4.00 each - they had viewings months before we gave our notice - they took their time fixing anything - the apartment was a dump - when we moved out they kept our $2500 deposit sighting outside trash removal at $400.00..for what moving a trash can! There are other tenants in the 3 family and all the vagrants who live and move around Dorchester. Also $350.00 for cleaning and $2500.00 in repairs that was billed at $500.00 per hour. The place had holes in the plaster and cracks when we moved in.. Also we were inverdently sent another tenants return calculation and they took their entire $3,000.00 deposit.. Unbelievable.. he made a cool $5,500.00 off 2 apartments.. If you do mistakenly deal with this crook you should document all the holes scratches dents and cracks before you move in and keep a file so you can protect yourself. Wow. If zero stars were even an option, which it should be, then I would select that. Alp and his "brokerage" has been nothing but a pain (understatement) to work with. Not only did they illegally charge new roommates/tenants for a background check, but made key replacements, simple house repairs, and move in and out fees a legal back and forth. If you have ever been to an Ikea then you have an idea what the apartments this said "brokerage" group stands behind. Looks great in the showroom, but once in use falls apart. That being said Alp and his team do nothing but shift the repair responsibility to another company, only to collect three times at your (tenants) expense. Aside from that if you were to ever misplace your key, plan to schedule your work week around Alp and the Boston Brokerage Group's Monday through Friday 9-5 hours and spend no less than $75 including transportation. PARENTS -- if you have a young daughter living in the city, this should make you sleep easily at night, right?? After paying rent on time for over three years, Alp and his "brokerage" group kindly charged my three young professional roommates and I over $3,8000 of our $4,000 security deposit. The charges listed by Alp and the "brokerage" group were not only illegitimate, but the group was unable to provide documentation/receipts for each charge when asked. To receive any type of response from Alp and the "brokerage" group he works for we had to escalate a list of detailed items over four times via email, including the possibility of litigation. I never write reviews, but it is necessary for this company. Terrible, terrible experience with Boston Brokerage Group. Rented an apartment through them for 2 years and the apartment was handed off to us in disgusting shape. Food on cabinets and on floor, hair in shower/sinks, dust everywhere and mice traps. They do not hire cleaners before you move in - the previous tenants are expected to clean. Then, the apartment is handed off to the new tenants the next day without being professionally cleaned/sanitized. Any broken appliances are not fixed prior to move in. If the old appliances in the apartment stop working while you live there, they make you pay to get them fixed. Moved out of the apartment on August 27th (they require you to move out before August 30th) and left it cleaner and in better shape than when we arrived. It is almost December 1st and we still have not received our $4k+ security deposit back. A couple years ago, when this company was just realestateboston.com, I got absolutely ripped off in a really crappy studio for $1300 a month. Some of my friends were spending $100 more for a 1-bed across the street. Once this company became "Boston Brokerage Group" and later in my lease, I found out that my apartment was being rented after I left without ever having received a single call to show the apartment because one of their Realtors stopped by with the new tenants to measure. This means Realtors entered my apartment illegally without my permission while I was working in the daytime. When I sent a complaint, someone called and apologized. Alp is absolutely awful. The worst "professional" I've ever come in contact with. Saul G is 100% correct that Alp will do whatever it takes to make a quick buck - actually LOTS of quick bucks - up to $4k of our security deposit to be exact. Where do I start? First, the 12/1 re-sign date. If you rent from him he "requires" that on December 1st, which is a mere 3 months INTO your lease...that you have to decide if you want to re-sign or not, if you're not sure they'll put the house back on the market. How awkward to have this conversation with 3 girls that I am JUST getting to know. Second, if you want to add or switch anyone on your lease he requires a $500 background check PER PERSON. This was after we bartered with him after he original requested $1,000 a person. A background check is no more than $50 to perform. Also, neither of the examples I've state above are exactly legal so there's that. After two of my roommates eventually caved and gave him the $1k total to be added to the lease, he then posted on Facebook the day after about all his money he's taking to gamble in Vegas...I wonder where that money came from!? He is unethical and using illegal tactics to take as much money from tenants as he possibly can. Also, his assistant Lucia is just as bad. Every time I've emailed her a question about some clarification she always responds like I am the most annoying person in the world. Her JOB is to help me. Advice for anyone - stay far far far far far far away from this man. Completely shocked he hasn't been sued yet. I had to consult with a lawyer over a month long process to get our security deposit back. Out of the $4k we were owed, he decided to give us back a little over $100 TOTAL. That's $25 a person. He had no receipts for the charges he claimed whatsoever and just created an invoice himself. He made up charges about scratches and marks on the wall and ballparked prices for "materials" that I can bet my life on were not bought. My roommate and I are on moving and various realtors have been contacting us about showing our place. Anthony Conteras contacted my roommate asking if were home to let him in. When she explained I was here he said he was at Starbucks now buying us a giftcard for being so accomodating. Sounds nice, right? Here's the catch a text message later he said and I quote "Please tell your roommate to say nice things about your place. :) I know you both hate your management company but shhh :)" We were never going to lie when people ask me how our experience was. So when the perspective tenants asked me I told them the truth that we were unhappy and moving ASAP. Anthony than proceeds to text my roommate saying that I was "bashing" the apartment! WHAT ARE YOU FIVE TATTLING ON THE PLAYGROUND!!!!!!! First of all, what did you expect her to do from her office??? Secondly, bribing tenants in apartments is just disgusting and unprofessional beyond belief. Lastly, we checked the balance on the Starbucks card and it was activated a day ago. Meaning he was not "at Starbucks" like he said. How many people do you bribe to say nice things about their places??? I worked with Anthony Contreras and to say he was the least helpful, most unreliable realtor I have ever encountered that would be an understatement. I was in the process of trying to conduct a lease transfer and he missed/was late to both our scheduled appointments and when he did finally show up he did not know what he was talking about and he gave me incorrect information regarding my lease which I later had to answer for. He was very vague when I asked him questions via e-mail and once he literally wrote a whole e-mail to me regarding my sub-leasing situation then later back-tracked when I asked what the hell he was talking about saying oops it was a "typo." The whole company just shuffles you around when you have a problem, do not use this company. The second woman I dealt with was professional and wanted nothing more than to help, but that is the only positive review I have of this experience. read more

I worked with a realtor (whose name I won't say but initials are A.K.). Although I heard great reviews from my friend who had just rented an apartment from him for 1800, I did not have the same experience. My roommate and I looked for a 2-bed for 2000 (in February) which I think is a pretty reasonable budget. A.K. showed us "the only 2 units that were in our price range," one being a basement. The other unit was beautiful and thus why I gave him those 2 stars. My roommate and I agreed that we wanted to see more options and A.K. told us he'd contact us when he found more apartments. No surprise, he NEVER called back and we moved on to a better realty. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS! Extremely shady and unprofessional. After living in my apartment for 5 months they stated showing up completely unannounced with large groups of people to view my apartment. I see signs of them being here at least once a week as they leave all doors open. I have asked them multiple times for a courtesy call or e-mail prior to the viewing, I have given my name, number, and e-mail to multiple agents and still do not get any warning of them showing up. Also when I signed for the apartment they told be it was newly renovated, come to find out it was actually in terrible condition. About a month into my lease I woke up to a bunch of contractors demolishing my first floor bathroom, no warning what so ever. The bathroom looks nice now but does not function like a new bathroom should. The basement was trashed for the first few months we had a new problem at least once a week, fridge was broken for months, drains were always clogged, paint was peeling off the ceiling and into our shower, apartment door locks had to be replaced 4 times within a month and a half, holes were not filled (tons of mice), laundry machines broken and eating our money away, the list goes on and on. The management company they hired to take care of the apartment is just as shady and would not fix things for weeks until I threatened to call the housing authority. They would "forget to remove snow" and never left ice melt/sand until the very end of the snow season (leaving us to deal with glare ice covering a steep hill). I have reviewed our lease multiple times and all of this was suppose to be covered by the management company or landlord (aka a slumlord who did not pay for these services to be done as stated in the lease). Please be ware of Boston Brokerage Group, they are not good to their customers and DO NOT deserve your hard earned money. read more

I am thoroughly impressed with the experience I just had with Boston Brokerage Group. My roommate and I were very nervous about renting our first apartment, and the agent we worked with, Brian Latimer, exceeded our expectations in every way. My mother was also very nervous, so Brian calmly talked her through every step of the paperwork over the phone. She's a tough lady to impress, but he certainly did it! When we went on showings, Brian provided all the applicable information in a nicely outlined packet. He was able to answer any questions, and wasn't hesitant to gather more information if we asked for it. Additionally, he successfully negotiated with the landlord when applicable and necessary. Another shining example of Brian's dedication-the landlord was unresponsive when asked to provide information about the utilities. We expressed worry over the prospect of what this bill might amount to, and within a matter of hours Brian went above and beyond in contacting NStar and forecasting what an average bill would be like. We got a detailed email outlining the numbers, and it quelled our anxiety greatly. This helped us make the final decision to choose our apartment. Finally, BBG's physical office was unlike any real estate office I've been to. Everything from the comfortable chairs, to the Keurig maker, to the private room where we signed the paperwork in confidentiality was lovely. We received genuine congratulations from Brian's coworkers, as well- very refreshing. Other offices I've visited have been cold (literally and figuratively!) and much less welcoming. The rent was highly overpriced with $6 in coins for one load of laundry. The floors and stairs were slanted. I feel like I need to speak out because it's the right thing to do. This is the worst place I have ever lived. When we moved in the old tenants still had their furniture in the apartment. There was a foot-shaped hole in my ceiling. There was a yellow growth on the shelves in my closet that I couldn't remove with steel wool; I reported it but they did nothing about it. The toilet seat, that they refused to replace, had a crack on it that caused my friend's ass to bleed. The space was very small and there was no living room. We had cockroaches and mice. I've also seen them on the first floor. We were not reimbursed for any of the things wrong with the apartment and it was very expensive. During the length of your stay you will receive demanding text messages from about 13 realtors. Most moral real estate services in the city will not do business with them. Look elsewhere if you want to live somewhere fairly priced that isn't horrible. My next apartment is cheaper and in much better condition. This is a very shady business; do not be fooled by their renovated office. 1 star is far too generous. read more

Oooooooh the fail. The buckets and buckets of fail. Where to begin? Advance TL;DR: shady agents with shadier landlords, stay away. Checked out a three bed for $1500 with another agent (not from this place) on Friday, November 23rd. Beautiful stuff, but the smaller bedrooms are pink and purple and will need to be painted. Wrote the deposit check on the spot. I get a call from that agent a couple hours later asking to meet up with her again and re-write the check to Boston Brokerage Group instead of her agency - they manage the building and won't stop showing the place unless they get the check made out in their name. A hassle, but whatevs. The next day (Saturday): the BBG agent managing the place wants to hustle us into his office on a Saturday to sign the lease, to which the landlord has added an addendum. We wait and wait and wait to receive this addendum, as we have no intention of heading in to sign the lease without reading this thing first. Finally, we receive it via email - three pages of utter nonsense aimed at raucous 18-year-olds with their parents' money who are willing to sign anything. Fees for week-late rent ($50), clogged disposals ($100), roommate changes ($500), **renewing the lease(!!)** ($250) ... "no parties", tenants responsible for all snow removal, must declare intention to renew lease four months in advance, no notice whatsoever required before landlord/agent enters the apartment. We managed to talk him out of some of the more egregious points, but sucked it up and signed with many still remaining - the place was lovely and we were in a hurry to move. THEN. Our own lovely landlord informs us that many of these addendum provisions (the week-late fee, the snow removal) are, in fact, ILLEGAL under Boston housing law, and a quick perusal of the City of Boston website confirms it. So take your pick: are BBG's agents ignorant of Boston housing laws, or are they scumbags? We call the BBG agent to ask that the illegal provisions be removed from the addendum, and when he calls the landlord, SUPRISE: the landlord has decided that he doesn't want to rent to us. Tenants who require legal dealings are simply too much hassle, I suppose. Not to mention: in between the signing of the lease and the landlord terminating the deal, the BBG agent who had hurried us into signing a lease to move a week later then delayed our progress in every way possible - insisted we couldn't have keys until multiple checks cleared into his account, which for some reason seemed to take several days after they had cleared OUT of my account; first asked for the faxed copy of a co-signed letter, then said we couldn't have keys until he got the original as well. At that rate, we would have been lucky to get keys the morning we were supposed to move in, never mind hoping to paint two rooms in advance. Now, after the termination, the agent won't write me a check back for the deposit despite me sending him proof that the money left my account. Plenty of effort made to cover their own asses financially, none whatsoever to ensure legal dealings by the landlords they associate with. Now don't get me wrong, BBG's agent was not the only problem here - the other agent and the landlord were obviously issues as well. But he was absolutely shady, tried to hustle us into an apartment in a week but then threw up roadblocks every step of the way. I see his initials in another review here, so clearly this was not an isolated incident. And for the record, I did finally get my deposit back - but I was sure to wait until the check cleared before I posted this. read more

I am very disappointed by the management of Boston Brokerage Group, especially Mr. Alp Kantar. Mr. Kantar is unprofessional, inappropriate, and sneaky. I agree that Boston Brokerage Group and Mr. Kantar conduct very shady business. I would not recommend signing a lease with this management. read more

Within a few days of meeting him, I was shown several places and was able to find a great place for around $1200/month in a terrific neighborhood. my review will be speaking about Erin specifically since that is the person who helped me and my roommate and we did not meet any of the other brokers. we had a lovely experience with Erin she was very personable and i got to meet with her right away even though i had not made an appointment in advance. i thoroughly explained to her our necessities and price range and she was very good at finding good places for us. initially there were some problems with prospective apartments getting rented out before we could even look at them but after approximately a month after our first meeting we signed our lease. she was very good at keeping up with emailing back and forth and she still continues to do so whenever we have any questions for her. personally i think this was the perfect place for us to go since it was in the neighborhood we wanted. overall, we had a good experience -Elonna B (and Marissa B) read more

I started out having many issues including random brokers showing up to the apt unannounced even when it was off the market. Also with maintenance taking a long time to fix or renovate certain aspects of the apartment and then creating more issues. Sometimes, a lot of issues were not addressed at all. They have been improving though, especially thanks to a property manager who has listened to us and who has been a tremendous help in getting everything solved. read more

I can confidently recommend Joe and Bobby as two of the best realtors in the Boston area. The only thing I would change about working with Boston Brokerage Group is not working with them sooner. I worked with Bobby Quinn and Joe DiGangi and I have nothing but great things to say about them both.
