I've had a great experience switching to this dentist. The dentists along with the hygienists are all very polite and want you to have a smooth experience. I did have to get cavities filled here and that experience was relatively easy. The dentist wanted to make sure I was comfortable and was willing to offer breaks as needed. I also enjoy how close this practice is to South Station. This proximity makes it easier to fit appointments into your schedule. I would highly recommend this location for anyone who works downtown. read more

My experience at Boston Dental was disgraceful and I would never return. I booked an appointment specifically to have the gaps in my teeth closed, so I came in knowing exactly what I wanted. Mid-treatment, the doctor paused the work, told me they were "going to give me a break," and then left; I ended up sitting in the chair for about 36 minutes, only to realize she was off consulting and working on other patients during my appointment time. When she finally returned, she casually explained that she had to see other patients, which made the whole experience feel careless and disrespectful of my time. On top of that, instead of focusing on solutions, the doctor repeatedly dramatized how "huge" and abnormal my gaps were, with no sensitivity to how those comments might affect a patient who is already self‑conscious about their smile. It felt like being told you have a "huge" tumor by an oncologist; completely lacking in empathy and professionalism. The dental hygienist, while friendly, kept poking my gums with what felt like a needle, and when I asked about it, she simply said she was examining my gums, which only added to my discomfort and anxiety. Overall, the practice felt extremely transactional, rushed, and more interested in volume than respectful, patient‑centered care, and I would not recommend them when there are far better and more experienced options available. read more

One of the worst experiences I could've had. This is an example of a dental office only concern is about money. I had an appointment with Boston Dental and because they no longer participated with Guardian PPO, they told me I had to pay hundreds of dollars which I did not have upfront and fill out a claim form for reimbursement or they could not treat me. When I spoke with the practice owner Dr. Maged Malecki, he could not have been more arrogant, saying even though I was a current patient and they always accepted Guardian, his dentist had to be paid and could no longer afford the reimbursement that insurance companies as Guardian and MetLife we're paying. I asked him if I could pay the difference of what he gets paid from Delta Dental and he said that was unacceptable and didn't know how long he was going to continue to accept Delta dental as well. I reached out to Guardian Dental in my wife has MetLife and we were both told the same thing by the customer service department that this practice is just a money grab. Boston Dentals fees we're well above what other in the Greater Boston area were charging and recommended practices that accept their insurance where I would be treated much better. DO NOT GO HERE ‼ (Read all the 1-2 star reviews and there is a common theme of this dental practice trying to get patients to do unnecessary procedures. They are money hungry and do not care about the well being of their patients) Long story short they stuck my "temporary crown" to my tooth and then couldn't get it off when it was time to install my permanent crown. The dentist then insisted that i extract my tooth and get an expensive implant instead of continuing with a crown. This was recommended even though my dentist had not performed any vertical x-rays. They then told me they would reach out to me for a consultation for an implant. I didn't hear back from them for 3 months after reaching out to them multiple times via telephone. I had fully paid for a crown that was not completed by the dentist. The practice having known this procedure was not completed charged my insurance for this even though I had not received a crown. Within those 3 months they had not adjusted or refunded the insurance nor my out of pocket cost. When I emailed the director of the practice about this insurance FRAUD they then made excuses and 2 days later I got an email from my insurance saying it was adjusted. I have yet to receive any refund from this establishment for my out of pocket cost that I spent towards getting a crown. Essentially they have stolen my money and are no longer communicating with me. With regards to my tooth I visited 2 new dentist in Boston and both of them told me it was incredibly strange that my dentist would recommend extraction to a 25 year old without even taking vertical x rays and that I was smart for seeking a second opinion. My new dentist was able to complete a crown for me with no complications and said that my tooth was not infected nor did it show any signs indicating that the tooth needed to be extracted. Overall I am happy that I did not have to spend thousands on an implant that I did not need. Please do not go here this place does not care about their patients, I emailed the director privately about this matter and he did nothing to rectify or refund the money i invested in getting a crown. (P.S. they have a raffle to win a product if you leave a review, so the reviews on here are not genuinely because patients love this practice and more or so incentivized by the idea of getting something for free, don't be fooled like I was) read more

3 strikes... PLEASE GET A SECOND OPINION FOR ALL FILLING REPLACEMENTS First strike, I get an email from them stating that it is time for my cleaning, I call and make an appointment. After the appointment, I was told that the cleaning happened 2 days before insurance would cover it, they scheduled it too early and said that insurance goes both ways and it was my responsibility even though they sent me the email to schedule the appointment. Second strike, they told me that I needed to re-fill my fillings, and that one was so deep it needed a root canal and crown because it was not possible to re-fill with out hitting the nerve. This was very very expensive. After I paid my bill in full at the office right after the procedure, four months later I was sent another bill which was very upsetting. They stated that their computer system just randomly sends bills. Up until this point I figured that just the office/billing was incompetent. Third strike, went back in for another cleaning. I'm on my 3rd dentist in under 2 years because of turnover. I'm told that they need to re-fill another filling, I ask if it was the one they just did because I was told that everything was fine, they said "no". I am holding a explanation of benefits saying that the patient is not responsible because the same filling was re-filled twice in a 24 month period. They screwed up and lied about it. They've double drilled so that now I will surely need another crown in my future. I'm not even going to try to get my co-pay back, I never want to talk to these people again. I know many people who don't have fillings who are very happy with this place, but if you have fillings they look at your mouth as a gold mine. read more

Wonderful office, great staff, well run and high quality service available quickly, and with many safe COVID precautions in place I see Dr. Shane and admin Gabby has been helping me with a multitude of appointments I needed after years of dental neglect. Gabby has been great and has actually kept track of my preference of text over call, and texted me when openings came up before my appointment. She goes above and beyond to maintain price transparency for me as a self pay customer and provided me an itemized receipt for reference. Dr. Shane has spent extra time and really made sure I was comfortable at each appt, including fixing my occlusion which got disrupted by the emergency root canal I had somewhere else. He also does an excellent job with nerve blocks, and was also willing to see if I could do without at my request, and then was repeatedly making sure I was still comfortable. Dr. Shane has been candid about what the best treatment course is even when sometimes it meant focusing on one thing and delaying something else that would cost (and therefore make more), but other times was clear when the more costly option was in fact a higher priority. He answered all my questions about if I could wait before getting something done. I also saw Bushra for a cleaning and she did a wonderful just even in the area my gums were recently irritated, making sure I was comfortable throughout and pointing things out to me on my xrays. Many of the support staff are actually dentists in other countries still going through US training requirements, and their skill and competence really shows. I feel a little bad I hadn't bothered to write a review until asked at my last appointment, because everything was so great I was even given free electric toothbrushes, both for myself and my husband at my last appointment, but these were given to me before I wrote my review and the office manager even called to be sure I knew that they weren't contingent on writing a review! A year ago, I decided to shop around for a new dental office. I have been a patient of Boston Dental for over 20 years. I followed the practice and change in ownership. That being said, it is evident that I am loyal and like this practice. However, a year ago, I was treated rather rudely by the office manager, who did not take the opportunity to work with me. I found out that she is no longer employed at Boston Dental, and thus, I decided to go back since my favorite hygienist Oscar is still an employee. The new office manager is Denise Baptista; she is fantastic, very respectful, professional, and personable. She is willing to work with you to find a solution to whatever the issue is: Dr. Malecki, a great job on the new valuable addition. I pray that I do not get disappointed again like I did last year, so I will keep my five stars for now until I feel like my faith in this practice is restored 100%. read more

Get a second opinion on everything! Spent so much money here being told I needed all these fillings, and went to a dentist in my home state I saw for 10+ years and he said they were all unnecessary. Was told I needed a few crowns and a root canal, which multiple other dentists said I did not need. Super upset that my teeth were drilled when they didn't need to be, and I spent $500 out of pocket when I'm young and don't really have that type of money floating around, but was told it was absolutely necessary. Do not recommend! After I complained about bad work done there 3 times they finally made a time for me to come in so we can sit down & talk. They than told me I owe $50 for the visit after basically telling me they would not fix the crown that is now the only tooth smaller than my others & looks horrible. They referred me out. When I get home log into my dental insurance account see my insurance covered a co-pay. They never informed me or had any intentions of giving back the money I overpaid! After all this they tell me I can't come back! Horrible service, rude, ignorant & I spent thousands of dollars with them. Do not recommend save yourself the headache!! read more

I don't have evidence yet, but I am on the trail of them overcharging for superfluous services. It feels similar to what would happen if you were to bring your car into a dealership without any issues, and all of sudden there are issues. I'm watching them very closely as I have my cleaning next month. I will not tolerate them milking me of my money. Perhaps he should spend more time developing his business and less time on Yelp. Oscar has been my hygienist for years now. He's gentle, careful and thorough. I'm always happy to see him as well. He's personable and really just the sweetest to catch up with every 6 months. He's retiring soon and (for very selfish reasons) I am dreading it! Early in 2019, Dr. Shane filled my first cavity ever - I was extremely nervous (mostly for the novocaine) and he made me feel so comfortable and calm. He was very patient and understanding of my anxiety - he's wonderful. Dr. Simon is equally wonderful and also very talented. When I was very young I chipped my two front teeth, they were repaired locally at my childhood dentists office and lasted for years. Sometime later, around college, Dr. Simon repaired them for me again, cleaning up usual wear and tear. They have not only lasted for years since she last worked on them, but they have looked gorgeous and pearly white since - which isn't always the case! More recently Dr. Simon filled two cavities and she was just as gentle and swift as I remembered. Can't recommend Boston Dental enough. Oscar is an amazing hygienist and Dr. Simon and Dr. Shane are both top notch. read more

When I came in, I didn't have to wait at all, everyone was very polite and punctual! After my cleaning, the dentist pointed out several problems my previous dentist had overlooked and gave me tips on how to better care for my teeth. When I came in to have a cavity filled, it was the most painless experience ever- I was allowed to watch Netflix and they kept me informed of what was going on and how long was left. While flossing, one of my fillings popped out. My previous dentist (not Boston Dental) couldn't get me in for a few days, plus the filling was only about a year old, so this event confirmed my suspicion of sub-par dental work. I walk by Boston Dental every day on my way to and from work, so I gave them a call and had an appointment booked as the first thing the next morning. Check in process was very smooth (could submit forms ahead of time online!), not to mention the clean office and friendly, professional staff. The dentist took a few quick X-rays and gave me a temporary filling to last until a longer appointment. The temporary filling had a numbing agent to help with the sensitivity, and it help up well during the week until my next appointment. I appreciated that the dentist was upfront about the cost, because fillings on a specific tooth are typically only covered by insurance every 24 months. Less than 1 week later, I had my appointment to replace the original filling. The process was painless - I received 2 local anesthetics, which really did their job! I watched a Netflix show while the dentist placed the filling, and the whole ordeal was quick and painless (I only made it halfway through an hour-long episode). I'm so glad that Boston Dental squeezed me in, and I look forward to going to them for my next cleaning! read more

I have been going to Boston Dental for 10+ years. Oscar has since retired but he was my hygienist and he was amazing! I am a baby with pain but he made me look forward to my cleanings. Though he will be missed, they did connect me with someone new for my cleanings and she was just as gentle and kind, and I'm looking forward to my next cleaning in Oct. (sorry I don't recall her name). But I've also had fillings and a root canal at Boston dental and I have again only had positive experiences... which is saying a lot when it comes to very unpleasant dental work. Situation: Insured with Aetna Dental QUICK SUMMARY: If you want to save up money go somewhere else, if you want to spend money this will be the place to be. In total I have paid Boston Dental: $438 My Aetna Explanation of Benefits stated I have paid: $185 So i paid $253 more than what i ACTUALLY HAVE TO. UPDATE 1: They agree to refund $179, and I have to call the practice manager for the refund. Been trying to reach her ONE WEEK and still no luck to get to her. No response from emails and phone. UPDATE 2: I got my refund $179 I appreciate what they did but am pretty sure this happens to many people who went there but they just did not care to check their receipt. It's such a shame because they really do a great job on my teeth and their service was friendly. Prior visit: I called Boston Dental to set up an appointment for teeth cleaning, x-rays and etc. They asked whether I had set them as my primary dental and I said YES, then they booked me for an appointment​. First visit: I went to the hygienist and she cleaned my teeth it took her about an hour. I didn't mind the long process so it was fine. Then I went to the x-rays the nurse was very nice and friendly. After the x-rays, I waited for my dentist to review the x-rays and my dentist was Tina. She talked fast, but I can understand her. She explained how my teeth were​ and the next step. Then I went to the front desk to set up my appointment. NOW HERE COMES THE UNETHICAL PART; the front desk lady told me that "I AM INSURED BUT I NEED TO DEPOSIT $100 AND WE WILL REFUND IT BACK TO YOU ONCE I WAS DONE WITH ALL THE FILLINGS PROCESS" I was in hurry and did not want to make a scene so I did pay​ and besides I thought it will be given back to me once the fillings were done. I paid and she just gave me a simple receipt, without a summary of what was being done today or what the $100 payment was. 2nd Visit: Went to do my fillings with Dr. Tina, and it took about one and half hour. It was a smooth process, they even had Netflix​ so I could watch movies/series while Tina was fixing my teeth. Then once, I was done went back to the front desk and the same lady that told me i had to deposit $100 said i had to pay $49 today for the service. I asked her i thought i was insured? and she said, yes but it's co-pay. Alright, then I told her, can you just cut the amount from the deposit? she said the total is actually $149 ​so I'm short of $49. I thought to myself this is CRAZY!!! I paid and AGAIN they did not give you any receipt, explaining​ what was being done today. My husband went to a different dentist and we were both covered with the same insurance and everytime he got received explaining what was being done and the cost of it. PLUS, he was not charged more than $100 from each visit. 3rd Visit: I know by the time you reached here, you were thinking why do I still keep coming back? and the answer to it I did not bother to find elsewhere coz I thought the dentist know my situation already so if i go somewhere else it'll be starting from zero again. So i went for my third visit to fill part of my left teeth and it was only an hour. Once I was done, I need to make my last appointment for the rest of the fillings. I went to the front desk and this time it was a guy, and I did not pay anything on that day. No receipt was given AGAIN, explaining the cost that was done that day. 4th Visit: So i went in and do my last fillings with Dr. Tina. Once is done, went to the front desk and the lady (different lady), told me that it's $289 AGAIN CRAZY!!!! that day I did 2 teeth, my front and left fillings not sure what cost that much. but then at least they gave me a receipt this time so I could take a look at it what was covered and what is not. But AGAIN, although the receipt was clear, the amount that was due was $130 but I paid $289. Overall: Like i said, if you want to spend money it would be the place. The dentist are good but am sure you can find the same quality dentist elsewhere. Their equipment looks updated but I would rather PAY a dentist place that explained to me why I have to pay, over a dentist place who just bribe you with Netflix. The owner or director comments reviews that are bad but he does nothing to explain​ their actions. ​Given is within my network, and the bills that were​ given to me just doesn't make sense. read more
