While Dr Alex & the dental hygienists were great and took care of my teeth for a cleaning and replacement of a night guard and retainer, the office and office experience were not great. The office sent me an email with a quote/estimate for a "night guard / retainer" for $133. After I came for two fittings of the night guard and retainer (because the first time the night guard and retainer were no where close to fitting my teeth), the front office said it would be $500+ for the night guard and retainer. This did not align with the quote. The office also stated that "they didn't know I was getting both a night guard and retainer so they only quoted me for one". I'm not sure how they didn't know I was getting both given that they had lab orders for both and I came in multiple times to get the devices. The office also did not submit a pretreatment request to my insurance. As a result, the office said they wouldn't be able to guarantee the cost. And now I am potentially financially responsible for the office's mistake. The worst part of my experience here was that the office did not own their mistakes - they did not submit the pretreatment request to the insurance nor did they send an accurate estimate when I asked. They never acknowledged that this was their mistake. The staff also blamed each other for the mistake instead of acting as one team. I will not be returning as a patient here due to this experience. read more

Excellent service for nearly 15 years. Strike a good balance of encouraging good practices (eg daily flossing, proper brushing technique) without being overbearing. Hygienists were thorough and visits are efficient- get in, get clean, get on with the day. read more

This is my irregular dentist's office. I go for my 6 month cleanings when I remember to otherwise I really don't go to the dentist. The first time I ever came here was b/c I had an issue w/ my tongue and I wanted to get seen by a dentist just to see what was going on. This office is very conveniently located at One Kendall Square so I was able to pop in and quickly get seen during my lunch. I got seen by a wonderful dentist who was able diagnose and also squeeze in my 6 month cleaning + 5 years x rays all in that unplanned appointment! I really love my dentist! I don't remember her name but as I recall she was originally Canadian and went to UCONN for dental school? I could be wrong. 10/10 would recommend! Fast forward maybe 2 years since & I cracked a molar tooth randomly during lunch? I ran down to this office to see if I could get squeezed in by a dentist but this time I wasn't able to be helped. Was quickly told they were really booked by a receptionist. She was nice but darn was that the last thing you want to hear when you've got a broken tooth. Naturally I asked when I could be squeezed in and was told they're very booked until November I inquired where I can go for a freak tooth accident and I was told I could try the ER. I didn't think that'd help me so I asked what other offices do you recommend and was told that "this is what they do" so they didn't have any other office to direct me to. She suggested try calling the number on the back of my insurance card to find other offices. I quickly googled other highly rated dentist's offices and tried to schedule a same day appointment. I called two more offices and also was turned away b/c of being booked solid. I then came across Mr. Dentist on Mass. Ave! I called in around 1 PM and was told they could see me at 4! Perfect! This place was rated 4.7 Stars (159 reviews) on google so I felt it'd be a good bet to try in a pinch. By no means is the office as gorgeous and "professional" looking as Kendall Square Dental but hey aesthetics are only one aspect of what makes a business great. The receptionist, at Mr. Dental, wasn't as cheery and friendly as the ones you'd encounter at Kendall Square. However the dentist that I did see was excellent! 10/10, just like my dentist at Kendall Square Dental. She quickly was able to assess my issue and it turned out that my tooth, that I had previously had a root canal done on, had cracked. She was concerned that the root canal job was still good so I needed to be referred to Malden Endodontics to be checked out. If everything was good I could come back to get a crown put on the tooth to protect it. I got a referral and was also given an estimate for the crown. She gave me some dental wax to keep the sharp edge of my cracked tooth from cutting my tongue. Very amazing! I was in and out in 30 minutes! Equally Amazing! All in all I can say that Kendall Square Dental is a great office for the times you have an appointment and want a great experience w/ a great dentist! It's clean and welcoming and it'd be the place you'd want to go if you're the type that never has "life" happen to you out of the blue. But if you find yourself in a pinch and expect to be treated w/ the same level of top-notch care I don't think you'll find it here consistently. I for one loved Mr. Dental taking care of me when I needed them! If you ever need good a dentist, that you need to see in an emergency, give them a try if Kendall can't help you! read more

Dr. Callejas is awesome. He is very personable and honest - totally up-front with you about everything that's going on "in there". He's great about giving you all the options and letting you know what really needs to be done. This year I've needed a lot of expensive dental work and have already maxed out my insurance, and he's trying to think of ways for me to put off more dental work til next year when I'll have more insurance money available. Kendall Dental almost always runs on-time, which is nice, and Dr. Callejas also works some Saturdays, also nice. Only downside is that there are very few parking options and they don't validate at any of the garages. read more

I recently moved to the area and was looking for a new dentist. I went to Dr. Callejas and can recommend him highly. The staff were all professional and courteous. Dr. Callejas is very thorough, easy to talk with, professional, and not pushy. I was especially impressed that the first cleaning was done by Dr. Callejas himself. I have only ever had cleanings from hygienists before. The practice does this purposely as a way for the dentist to get to know and understand new patients. I am a bit wary of dentists overall as many can be pushy and recommend unnecessary procedures. This was not the case here. read more

I was a loyal patient/customer at Kendall Dental for over 20 years, but then had a horrible experience, and learned the hard way that they do NOT help patients with insurance.  Right before the pandemic (December), I got scheduled for a significant procedure that was supposed to be covered by insurance, but a month later, I was surprised with a bill for $1600! It turns out that I had exceeded my covereage for the year, and if Kendall Square Dental had just gotten an insurance quote and scheduled this procedure just TWO WEEKS later, my insurance coverage would have renewed after January 1st, and everything would have been completely paid.  After this happened, I immediately paid $600, which is all I could afford at the time, and then I tried reaching out to the owner, Dr. Alex Callejas, who has the power to make adjustments to the bill. Unfortunately, all business operations are controlled by Amy, who is Dr. Callejas' partner and agressively manages the front desk and billing. Even after being their patient for 20 years, Amy refused to let me talk to the owner and was surprisingly condescending and unapologetic. Her exact response was, "We sometimes do insurance estimates for patients, but they are purely done as a COURTESY for patients.  It is the patient's responsibility to check with their insurance to verify coverage."  Although I tried for many months, Kendall Square Dental refused to acknowledge any responsibility for this mistake, refused to intercede with the insurance on my behalf, and refused to give me any discount/adjustment whatsovever on the bill. Amy sent my bill to a collections agency, and I am now living with that large hit on my credit score.  I want to report that in the past couple years, I have discovered several great conventient dentists in the (Davis Sq and Porter Sq area) and also discovered that all these dentists do ROUTINE insurance quotes (without asking) for ALL patients. To avoid painful surprises, ALL dentists tell me exactly what my cost is going to be BEFORE the procedure is done.  All other dentists also offer advice on how to plan my dental procedures to get the most out of my insurance coverage. I am leaving this review to let other people know what service to expect from a GOOD dentist, and let people know that there are many much better dental clinics in the Cambridge/Somerville (Davis/Porter) area who all offer comprehensive support for insurance, have better record-keeping, and treat patients with empathy and respect. I have nothing against the doctors who work there, but Kendall Dental is gaslighting its patients into thinking that its service is state-of-the-art. Dont fall for it. I went to Dr. Reid for 10 years. His solution to everything was more fluoride and another filling. He saw canker sores in my mouth for 7 years, yet didn't help me. After I discovered that toothpaste was the problem and found a new toothpaste that didn't give me sores, he just said to make sure it contained enough fluoride. About 2 years later my gums started to noticeably recede. He sent me to a periodontist (fine), but didn't attempt to help me determine the cause. Now it seems that toothpaste was (again) the problem. Another issue: one of my molars (in which he did a simple filling) cracked and required a crown; the filling seemed to be a contributing factor because it raised the surface of the tooth so the opposite molar created more pressure when I bit down. read more

I've been going to Kendall Dental for almost 4 years now and I think that Dr. Callejas is the best kind of dentist you can get! He's super efficient and thorough but doesn't take up too much time with chit chat. He always explains things in a way that you can understand them and never seems to rush with his process. He also is the one who personally cleans my teeth about 50% of the time, which is quite impressive. The hygienists are all really nice and good at what they do as well. The only issue I've ever experienced there is waiting up to 15 min after my scheduled appointment time, but in the grand scheme of things, that's really not that bad! I've been going to Kendall Sq. Dental for more than 10 years because it is very close to my work. I've been seeing Dr. Callejas since he joined the practice. I agree with all the other reviews - he's efficient, personable (without too much unnecessary chit-chat) and very attentive to my dental health. I would recommend that anyone go here. As for the office manager - that woman that used to be there (Sollange) was terrible. Completely arrogant and unpleasant to deal with. However, she has been gone for a while now and the current staff are all very pleasant. read more

I agree that the receptionists can have an unusually icy demeanor and sometimes be downright rude (hence the four, not five stars). I keep going back though b/c it is in a very convenient location, they take early morning appointments, and the doctors and the dental hygienists are quick, painless, and do a great job with my chompers. read more

Dr. Callejas is great. He's good about talking to you about your options and taking the time to answer questions. Very laid back--not trying to run off to another appointment all the time. He also takes the time to make sure your fillings are done right--has you bite down on some blue-dye paper and sees if they're hitting. My previous dentist did not do that and I spent about 8 years with one of my teeth hitting a mercury filling until it finally wore it down. I never felt pressured to get stuff done that didn't seem to make sense. He was also good about refusing to sand down my two front teeth after they'd chipped a bunch. The hygenist from my previous dentist had already done so once, and he pointed out that the teeth were too short, now. He did not mention that I should go see an orthodontist to straighten them out--I figured that out on my own, though. My only complaint is that he doesn't see any dangers in mercury fillings. I do. I'm not sure I'd want him drilling out mercury fillings if I were pregnant or nursing because I don't know that he'd take proper precautions. I've now moved, so I have no experience with the new office manager that's giving people problems (I never had any problems). However, I will say, as I'm looking for a new dentist, I wish he were here.... read more

He spent time chatting and taking some time to check my teeth. At the end, there was no enough time to clean my teeth. They charged me the money for teeth checking, but did not clean my teeth. read more

I signed up to get invisalign, a teeth straightening procedure, at Kendall Square Dental Associates. Only one of the dentists, Jennifer Percy, is qualified to oversee this program. The program involves wearing a given template for 22 hrs/day, and switching templates once weekly. Dr. Percy only provides 3-4 templates at a time, and then requires her patients to return to the office for examination before providing more. This is a good policy except when monthly appointments aren't convenient for her. Then her patients have to go several additional weeks before being provided with the templates that they've paid for, unnecessarily extending the time that they need to be on the program. Until another dentist at Kendall Square Dental Associates is qualified to administer the invisalign program, I would not recommend signing up invisalign at this practice. read more

I went to get a cleaning since I had not been to the dentist in a long while and needed to find a local dentist. I was able to get an appointment for a couple weeks after I called which was a pleasant surprise. Everyone at the office was friendly and professional. I was definitely more relaxed for this visit than any in the past and the staff was the main reason. I even learned more about taking care of my teeth and why I should than I ever did at my previous dentist. For these reasons and more I highly recommend them. read more

Great dentists and almost all of the receptionists are agreeable, but I will have to subtract one star for the bad experience I had today. I came in for a 1030am appointment with my son but was told by the receptionist (new, female, of Asian descent) that my appointment was actually at 10am. I told her that I was 100% sure that my appointment was originally scheduled for 1030am. I would bet my life on this, as I distinctly remember asking for this time based on my current schedule for Wednesdays. She was cold, unhelpful and unwilling to accommodate for the obvious mistake in data entry. I would not be surprised if it was she that originally mistyped the appointment time when I called to reschedule. In the 10 years that I have patronized Kendall Square Dental, I have never had a problem with incorrectly scheduled appointments. Nor have I ever been late or absent for a correctly scheduled appointment. Unfortunately this mishap finally happened, but hopefully it is just because of one bad egg. read more

I just got off of the phone with Kendall Square Dental Associates. Let me just say how frustrated I am with them and their bad practices. I recently had a filling at their office. Not even 1 month after the filling, it fell out of the tooth. I didn't even notice that it had until later when I was brushing my teeth and I felt a void and some sharp edges with my tongue. I called the office to report it and to say that I would like to get an appointment to fix the filling on their $$ seeing how I just got the freaking thing. The "office girl" wasn't really any help aside from scheduling my new appointment and offered me no sympathy. She was just a dumb office rep with no sense of human interaction/professionalism. Today I had a work holdup and would have been late to the appointment so I called to let them know what had happened. The "office girl" told me that I would have to reschedule and pay for the missed appointment. I said that I would dispute the charge because I would not be paying for the same service twice. She raised her voice over mine and said "Why you gotta get a freakin attitude with me?" and that it was my fault I missed the appointment and that I would have to pay a fee. I told her that had the filling been done right the first time then I would not be missing any appointments. When she screamed at me in some foreign tongue again, I asked to talk to her manager. She gave me the office manager who I think is named Solange. She got on the phone and was equally rude to me as the first girl. She defended the "office girl" even though she hadn't been on the phone and spoke to me as if I were a two-year-old and she was a Scientist of some sort. That's funny because I am a Scientist!!!! When I explained that I was unhappy with the dental treatment and the lack of customer service I was given over the phone, she raised her voice and talked over me. I told her that after this tooth was all fixed, I would not be coming back to their office again and that I would be writing an online review and a letter to her boss/the owner. Her response was simply "good" and that she would have the doctor call me back. I am waiting on this call and will cite the many bad reviews for their practice on this site. I chose this practice because it's proximity to work and because a co-worker (my boss) had recommended it to me... Jeez that will be the last time I trust my boss with any type of recommendation!!! GOD I WISH I CHECKED THE REVIEWS ON HERE.... Grrrrr.... So in the short... IF you value your dental health and appreciate good Customer service A.K.A. human-human interaction AVOID KENDALL SQUARE DENTAL ASSOCIATES AT ALL COSTS... The office was great, super nice staff under all new management! If you are looking for a friendly atmosphere with a professional staff I would highly recommend this office. I personally see Dr. Jennifer Percy and she is amazing! I was able to get a same day appointment for my first visit and she has worked with me on a treatment plan I feel very comfortable with. I've only been a patient for a year, but its been the best dental experiences of my life. Dr Callejas is warm, personable and very competent. You never feel rushed and you get all the information you need to make the right decisions for yourself. A huge plus is I can almost always get an appointment when I want without hassle. read more

I LOVE this practice. I have Dr. Callejas and he is wonderful. I've never felt safer and at ease. They are all very nice and do a wonderful job and I have had many many dentists over time. I recently moved to Cambridge, and was in search of a Family Dentist. I had trouble finding a provider in my area who accepted my insurance (Guardian), but Kendall Square Dental Associates did so I booked an appointment. The office is clean, streamlined, and seems efficient. My dentist (Dr. Reid) was thorough, and even took time to explain what he was doing to a dental student (I think he was a dental student?). The whole appointment lasted 1 hour, which is better then other offices I've visited (some places can take up to 2 hours). The dentist took time to review my files which I had shipped from my previous dentist's office. I would recommend this office to anyone new to the area looking for basic dentistry. read more

Very poor dental office. As noted by others, Sollange is extremely unprofessional and it is rather surprising that she is still working at this place after the complaints I've read. I would avoid this office. The dentist himself, Dr. Callejas was decent. But to be honest I've been to better dentist. Avoid at all cost or you'll have to deal with a dim wit office manager. read more
