They installed a driveway gate that doesn't open correctly. When asked to correct the problem the self proclaimed " fence guy " and the alleged owner refused to address the problem without a minimum charge of $275 . Boston Fence was not the cheapest, but they were the most open and transparent as to what they would provide and follow up on. We wanted a 140 feet of prepainted fence. The sales rep was honest. The installers were hardworking and courteous and came up with ideas to make the instaltion look better on our slope. They sent two men a few weeks later to touch up the paint. Boston Fence & Vinyl did an excellent job on our new backyard fence. Of course, it's early days, but the fence appears to be sturdy and properly set. The crew of two men were unable to complete the job the first day due to inclement weather, but they appeared promptly the next morning and finished the job as promised. They also repaired an irrigation line which was accidentally damaged in the course of the work. We have been satisfied with the company's responsiveness to queries and to our specific scheduling requirements. We appreciate the warranty on the work, but hope we won't have need of exercising it. read more

These clowns are the worst. They don't seem to be able to do the job they are selling. I should have installed the fence myself. It would have been cheaper and looked better. They installed the fence with a one foot gap at the bottom and had to come back to fix. Still has a large gap but please just GO AWAY! Look for another installer if you want it done right. Someone came over to give us a quote. I walked him around the property and explained what we wanted: three types of fencing -- one style at the front, one style on the left, and one style on the back and right side of the house.. He didn't take any notes. When we finished walking the property, he tried to reiterate what I wanted and got it entirely wrong, so I explained it again. Took a few notes and said he understood. The next day I received not one, but two phone calls asking me to confirm what I wanted. What I want has not changed. He still couldn't get it right. What a waste of time. If you can't get the quote right after four tries, why would I ever trust you to install something on my property? read more

My husband and I just bought a home here in Beverly and are expecting our first child in May. We also have two pups, so a fenced in yard was much needed. We started getting quotes right away and realized that fences are expensive! We were referred to Boston fence through a coworker of my husbands and were able to get an appointment for a quote right away. Rick came out and gave us a quote on site. We ended up going with them for many reason, they were quick, the price was right and they could start the job the very next week which was huge since I'm getting bigger and it was getting harder to walk my pups. We put in a black chain link fence which looks better than I expected. It's still leaves the yard looking open, and the actual product is a very good sturdy quality. The gentlemen doing the work were very efficient, knowledgable, and polite. They went over all the plans with us before starting and had the job done in two days. Stay away from this company. Rick underestimated the amount of fencing needed to do the job because he insisted on following the line of an old fence when I told him it was not square with the lines of my house. We in fact needed a ten foot section instead of an eight foot section to complete the job. When talking to him on the phone, he immediately got very angry even though I remained totally calm. I called him out on this, and he did calm down momentarily. However, after he talked to the installers and then got back on the phone with me, he went right back to yelling at me. Nobody needs this kind of behavior from a contractor (and the installers later told me for Rick, this is quite common). Rick wanted to charge me for a custom ten foot section and refused to give me a credit on the eight foot section. Luckily, the installers came up with an equitable solution -- take 2 feet off one of the runs such that the eight foot section would be sufficient to complete the perimeter. I did lose two feet of the desired fenced-in area, but to me that was much better than looking every day at a fence that is not square. Rick obviously didn't care one way or the other. He is interested in selling fence, not problem-solving with the customer or ensuring that the customer is happy. And oh, that nasty behavior! read more

Stay away from Boston Fence. Time schedule? Their time schedule. Fence is crooked and not balanced. I have no grass left near the fence because they left our yard with their equipment for 3 weeks. Spoke to Frank, the owner. He is not customer friendly nor was he helpful. He should take ownership of his business and crew: sloppy work, unkempt work site, come and go on their schedule, their error is your error that you pay for, poor customer service especially from Frank who yells at you and tells you it is your problem, unprofessional. Overall pretty bad experience and sloppy job. Took the deposit and then disappeared for over a month not responding to my emails and voice mails . When I asked for money back they finally showed up, took down my old fence and dug up the holes for the new fence. Problem is that they they put the dirt on the plastic and then on the lawn and left it there for two weeks, so now half of my lawn is just pain dead. Not to mention that they left me without the fence for a whole 2 weeks. When they used concrete they sprayed it all over (even on the side of the house where they used the water) and now I have chunks of concrete all over that I have to somehow remove on my own. read more

Years ago I had them give me an estimate on fencing my property with some Vinyl and Chain Link Fence....unfortunately of the three estimates we received they were the highest. So obviously they did not get the job....but a few years later we installed a pool and I figured I'd give them another shot. So they send out the same rep...this MF comes to door, and when my wife opens it he looks at her and starts screaming "You people..." and starts walking away to get into his car....so I hear my wife screaming back and rush to the door and he's still going off, swearing...."Are you F'n kidding me...." and on and on. Apparently he doesn't like it when customers don't give him a job....and here I am willing to give him another shot to install some pool fencing. And this Classless A-hole starts screaming...at a woman no less...real winner. So I can't really comment on their work, they probably do some great work but that rep needs a kick in A$$, and learn some manners. read more

After getting 3 estimates for a fence, we went with Boston Fence because Rick was the only person I met with who seemed to have our best interest in mind. They were not the cheapest, but their customer service was off the charts. Needed a small chain link fence. Set up an appointment for an estimate. I received a call the day before confirming. Rick was on time, gave me a fair price. The job was completed within a couple of weeks. The installers were professional and neat. The fence looks fantastic and the gates work perfectly. I will say the product is very nice and looks great. The communication is horrible. Estimate was done 6/21/18 and we waited until 9/24/18 for the fence. We did know this up front that we would be waiting until September for installation. We were told we would get 24 hours notice we received 1 hr. This was on a Friday. The workers were back and forth to who knows where all day. The took down out old fence and left the yard wide open. We called the answering service twice just to try to get information if they would be returning that day or when we could expect them to return. I am not sure why they pay for an answering service if they don't bother returning calls. Finally, my husband received a message on his voicemail the next morning that they would be back on Monday. My neighbor has an in ground pool with the yards wide open in a neighborhood with a lot of children. I called Boston Fence and spoke felt as though it was an imposition to even ask these questions. Basically the attitude I received was "sucks for you the guys" wife went in the hospital and I have no other workers. When I explained that the issue was my yard was left wide open, with my neighbors in ground pool totally exposed it fell on deaf ears. During the back and forth I also learned that they didn't even make enough panels to finish if they did have availability of workers and had to make more. I would guess this was the real reason that the job wasn't complete. I did have a written estimate 3 months prior and the yard expand so I am not sure what that was about. When I mentioned the gate I was asked if the workers put the posts in. I went and looked and told him no. Then I was told "oh well that will be another day". Again, no communication from the workers or the office on what the other day would be. The gate was up Tuesday when we arrived home from work. My husband went to the shop to pay them on Wednesday and not a word was spoken by anyone. No sorry for the confusion, do you like the fence, not a word just took the check and said "we will mail you a receipt". I am sure that I can find this level of aggravation for less than $4700. Because of the lack of communication, lack of customer service skill and compassion, I will not recommend them to anyone nor would I use them again. read more

Had them come to fix a fence that had fallen, asked them to fix the pieces that were down and brace the pieces that were loose. The job was sloppy and fell down again after a month. Called to have them come and fix it, it took over a week for them to get back to us. They said they would call with a plan, came over without calling and told us the fence was fixed (because my husband had put a quick fix on it to keep our dog in the yard). 07/21/2016 We had a stockade fence put up 05/27/2011 by Boston Fence. It was 278' with "Pressure Treated Posts". The fence was fine until April 2016 when we noticed 2 posts rocked back and forth. Upon examination they are broken at the ground level. and need to be replaced. Nothing was leaned against or crashed into the posts. I had Rick Nardella come out to see what needs to be done about them. He gave me a quote of $425.00 to replace 2 posts. Posts were $50 and Labor $375.00. I called him on 07/21/16 and voiced my opinion that replacing the 2 posts at $425 should be done free, since the fence is only 5 years old. His reply: We guarantee the fence for 2 years. The post company doesn't guarantee the posts to us and we don't gaurantee the posts to the customers. I felt that since the fence cost $6500 they would at least replace the posts at a cost much less that $425.00. His reply was "don't throw that $6500 fence cost at me". I ? if he can waiver at all on the post replacement price and he said NO. I feel his reply was crude and given in a sarcastic manner. MAKE YOUR OWN CHOICE WHEN CONSIDERING THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR FENCING NEEDS. read more

Look in the Yellow Pages under Fence Installers and pick anyone but these people. They screwed up the installation of our fence and left trash thrown around our yard. It was like pulling teeth to get them back to fix it. They finally came back to fix the fence - four months later - but I'm sure it's only because we still owed them money. Oh and they will tell you their company policy is to call the customer two or three days before they come in to do any work. They don't follow that policy as they showed up 5 times without calling first. Their customer service is non-existent and if you need to get the owner on the phone - good luck to you. He doesn't seem to want to talk to his customers and when he does, he can have a bit of an attitude. There's a lot of fence installation companies out there and the pricing is about the same - do yourself a favor and find one that does the job right the first time without the attitude. read more

I recently had a fence installed by Boston Fence & Vinyl and had a great experience. I hired them to install a 5 foot stockade fence and another section that had a gate. This fence happened to be at my home but I'm a property manager by trade and have procured estimates for fencing many times in the past and have had to oversee fence installations at the properties I manage so this isn't my first fence experience. I was very pleased with the fence they installed and they delivered right on time - almost to the day when they said I should expect them. One area of my fence and gate was a bit of a tricky installation because the grade was uneven and it required some wood to be notched in order to accommodate the gate properly as well as one post had to be installed through the hot top in my driveway as we were moving the post location from the previous fence. Suffice to say I was very glad that the installer was really experienced and did a great job with it. They also cleaned up the site when they were done and took away all the work related debris. I've had several neighbors ask me who I used for the installation because they love the fence. I would highly recommend them if you are going to install a new fence. read more
