Short Yelp Review: Lauren Dear Saved My Gut…read more Long Yelp Review: I moved from India to the United States 12 years ago - my family got over it, but my gut didn't. What was once my happy, thriving and healthy GI tract turned miserable, agonized and sensitive. I developed multiple sensitivities to various types of food and my digestion seemed to limp to catch up with all the self-restrictive dietary changes and modifications. I love good, pure, healthy food - and my misbehaving GI tract was a major burden, affecting my quality of life. For 12 years, I made-do - making dietary tweaks here and there, but a couple of months ago, I just hit a wall and decided to get professional help. Lauren came highly recommended by folks who knew me personally. She introduced me to the FODMAP diet - nay, the FODMAP way-of-life! In 2 weeks, following the FODMAPs list of acceptable food choices, my symptoms of bloating, gassiness, and general gut malaise has vastly improved. There still are certain tweaks I will need to make down the road, but as of now - I am not petrified of the consequences of eating. I just need to choose what types of healthy food I can eat, that will be tolerated. Working with Lauren is a pleasure - she's curious, attentive to your woes, is non-judgmental, and shows genuine care and empathy. She actually listens without prejudice or condescension. If you have GI troubles, go to Lauren! With practices in Brookline and in Boston (Downtown Crossing), she's very accessible via all modes of transportation. Thank you for saving my gut, Lauren!

I came to Jillian frustrated - I was constantly bloated, was experiencing bad cramps with my menstrual cycle, and was tired from overexercising and not seeing the results I wanted. I was consumed with decisions around food and didn't feel confident in my body. Over the past year in working with Jillian, I can say that my relationship with food has completely shifted and I have improved my overall health and well-being. Working with Jillian has bettered my life in so many ways. I have seen an improvement in my mood, my relationships and have established a new found freedom and flexibility around food. I am so much more in tune with what my body needs, and I have the tools to properly nourish, fuel and balance my body. She has helped me in the transition off of birth control and was such a great source of knowledge during that process. She helped me get my period back and provided guidance on supplements, hormone testing and tips to support my body coming off of birth control. I can not say enough great things about Jillian, she has had such a positive impact on my life and overall health!

I saw Dr. Kayla Serowik and Dr. Christine Frechette for physical therapy, and both of them were amazing. Not only did they show me the exercise to treat my issues, they also helped educate me on what I could do to prevent future injuries. On top of that, they were both incredibly patient and encouraging - therapeutic on multiple levels! I also get sports massages from Michelle Herrmann, and this has been a game changer. I have gone to a wide variety of skilled massage therapists (sports, deep tissue, Thai, etc.), and Michelle is the best, by far. Her massages are so healing and have helped my performance so much, as well as stave off potential injuries! Before going to Wellness in Motion, I really struggled to progress in any sport because I got injured so often. Now, with the amazing combination of physical therapy and sports massages, my body is healthier and stronger than it has been in over 20 years! Incredibly grateful for this place. Several of my friends have gone here as well, all with similar experiences. Most of them have gone to see Lauren Lozier, who is also amazing!

But I guess with everything going on in the world, it is what it is as long as the value matches the price. I told the lady at the desk about my quest for mostly fruits, but maybe veggies as well and got recommended the Mediterranean Bowl. It was very delicious and I couldn't finish it in one go. Also appreciate it having quinoa instead of rice. Huge fan of coconut and bought the Majikal Coconut as well (price made me a bit nervous). It contains coconut juice, meat and blue majik (HIGHLY advise that you drink it as soon as you buy). My 3rd item was an acai bowl which I had for dinner and it was well done and also filled me up for the night. The business itself is well kept, bright and colorful. It's small, but has two seats near the windows. Really appreciate Cocobeet having labels for their items in the fridge showing not only the price, but what it does for the body! So glad it's across the street from work and you'll definitely be seeing me again!

When I mentioned home care to the facility staff, even they said patients tend to recover more quickly at home. What we didn't appreciate was just how difficult it can be to care for an elderly person who can't walk. They provided us with a list of home health care providers that I cross checked with yelp. Crazy how few reviews there are for these types of businesses. After doing some research and contacting three different providers, I chose Home Instead. From the moment we contacted them our life started getting easier. Cassandra quickly set up an appointment for the owner, David, to come to the apartment and meet my father. He asked the right questions, listened, and provided us with a range of options to choose from. Zero pressure. The primary health aid, Leroy, quickly became like part of the family. David remained actively involved in managing my father's care--even while on vacation! And as my father gradually began to recover, they were very flexible in dialing down the service. The only advice I have is to set clear expectations up front about what kinds of help you would like the health aid to provide. The brochure promises the moon, more than any single health aid could reasonably be expected to provide. But be upfront about what help you need. That way it doesn't get awkward part-way through treatment if expectations aren't being met. This is particularly important if there will be more than one provider managing care. Overall we were very pleased with Home Instead and will definitely be contacting them again should we require additional care.
