I was abruptly informed two weeks prior to Christmas that my building was being sold. The timing was especially stressful. I saw one apartment prior to finding my home that made me want to cry. I absolutely couldn't see myself living there. Fortunately, Danny was extremely responsive and arranged a viewing for me first thing the next morning. His professionalism and genuine desire to help made a very challenging experience manageable. To take things a step further, after moving in I lost the entire contents of my wallet, keys included. Danny responded within moments and made sure to have keys to me within impeccable timing. Despite having already signed a lease, I was still a priority. Worked with them for years, and they initially did a good job. More recently, they mismanaged one of my units and left it in a state of disrepair. Now they won't pickup or return my call. Completely unresponsive. I'm open to taking down this note. If it's still up, they still refuse to provide any assistance in cleaning up the mess they oversaw. read more

These people truly care about their jobs. My boyfriend and I were introduced to Steve Hogan, after replying to a Craigslist add about one of their properties. Steve was probably one of the better real estate agents out there - trust me, I used to work as an admin assistant for one awful one on the other side of Newbury. He totally understood what we were looking for, didn't push us out of our fiscal boundaries, and found us the perfect apartment. All in less than one day. It was truly amazing. Not only that, but we had our application processed in a couple days, and the all clear not soon after that. Most agents take a while, especially when dealing with Sept. 1st move ins and recent college grads. He treated us with respect and understood that we were both working full time and needed a place that was both in a safe and centralized location. This summer I was faced with the apartment hunt, as my building I was in was going Condo, I had to find a new place to live. This time, rather than live out in the burbs, I decided to look in the city of Boston. I've been told in order to find a decent place in the city, don't look online, and go directly to a Real Estate office instead. However, I found an apartment on Craigs List I liked, so I called to arrange a showing the next day. This property was rented by Boston Realty Net on Newbury Street. When I arrived at their convenient Newbury street location, I was greeted by Frank, the owner who would be showing me the property. He was well dressed, and very professional, and drove me to view the apartment. I looked and honestly, it just wasn't for me. (The kitchen was too small). However, Frank assured me they had plenty of other properties that within my price range that fit my needs, that I would like. I have particular needs, since apartments in the city are not-so-reasonably priced, I wanted to make sure I got the most bang for my buck. I wanted a place with a decent kitchen (I like to cook) with a full size refrigerator. (many smaller apartments in the city are mainly studios with a hot plate and a mini fridge). I also have a cat, so finding a place that is pet friendly is very important. After having a brief discussion to get my 'needs and wants' in an apartment, he came up with a list of 10 different apartments. So we spent about 2 hours viewing apartments, but to my dismay, we just didn't find something that I was "wow" at and wanted to write a deposit check for. I apologized to Frank for being so picky, however, he says it's very common and its "OK because it's where you live and you want to make sure it's perfect". He was extremely understanding and I felt bad, but assured me that his agency is always getting new listings daily since it is rental season so new stuff is coming on the market daily. The NEXT day, he calls me and has "studio" (I use this term lightly as it was two rooms) that came on the market an hour ago and would really like for me to come now to go see it. He tells me these types of studios usually rent pretty quickly and its in my best interest to come now to view it. So I left work, and zipped down to his office, and I picked him up (I didn't want to waste any time). I looked at the apartment, took a quick look around and fell in love. Its exactly what I have been looking for. It fit all my requirements and was at the low end of my price range. SWEET. I immediately wrote the deposit check to hold the unit. A month later, I moved in and I've never been happier. I really owe a lot of thanks to Frank at Boston Realty Net for this. I don't think any other agency would have taken the time to keep me in mind when new places that fit my needs came on the market. I really appreciate that he took the time to remember me. You know, I grappled with whether or not to write a review for my sub-par experience with this real estate firm, but I've decided that home-buying is such an important purchase, that I would. Though I bought my condo in April of 2014, my experience actually still bothers me to this day. My agent was repeatedly unavailable on the weekends and never made a valiant effort to send someone in his stead, leaving me to go to these open houses by myself, as a first-time homeowner. When I decided to go with another agent from another firm upon finding a condo I wanted to put an offer in THAT DAY (when my agent was again out of town and unable to attend to my needs as a client), I was subjected to a barrage of borderline rude and huffy emails because the agent thought that though I did NOT sign an exclusive, that somehow I should put my needs secondary to his desire to make a sale. I felt my agent's reaction to the situation was humiliating, not just to me, but to the agency itself. I was FLOORED by the emails I received upon informing him I had found an agent elsewhere and that I had gone ahead with an offer on a condo. Sure, I could have lied to him and said "I decided not to buy at this time," but instead opted to be honest and say that I had found another agent who put my offer in immediately..... only to be subjected to his haughty emails because he was upset that he wouldn't be receiving a commission on my purchase. I went with another agency and I am glad I made the right choice to serve my best interests. read more

They owe me $4k. Really unethical. they did not conduct a credit check and took advantage of a situation I was in. My offer was rescinded and they took my deposit stating my application went through. However, if they conducted an employment check it would not have gone through. the timing was such that I applied for the apt and found out the company was going down. read more

No one likes dealing with brokers Scanning Craigslist post after Craigslist post - the process is miserable. I exchanged emails with 15 different brokers - each just as unhelpful as the next. Matt Scano on the other hand made it his mission to find us an apt that would working. Going as far to asking his coworkers about places that weren't even listed yet. He spent more time on quality than quantity and we love the place he found. Steve Hogan showed us the apt and was a genuine straight shooter. Will definitely use these guys again! read more

Have been meaning to write this review for months. Belated kudos and a huge thank-you to Maggie from Realty Net. My wife and I moved to Boston last fall. Maggie showed us some great properties, one of which in the end was our close second choice. The owners of our first choice apartment (sadly found through another, much less professional agent who had the listing through pure luck) took forever to get back to us. We were dying of stress, the agent on the other property wasn't returning our calls, and if it hadn't been for Maggie's responsiveness and calm, professional help, I'm not sure what we would have done. She was great to work with, didn't pressure us, and really wanted us to find a great home, even if that meant not getting our business. In the end we did get our first choice, but we hugely appreciated Maggie's help. She deserved the commission much more than the agent who got it. read more

Absolutely awful. Bobby D. Texted with me set up an appointment to see an apartment in back bay. We showed up on time and waited for 30 minute outside of the apartment. I texted and called several times with no return calls or texts. But 10 minutes after we left, he butt dialed me!! I can hear their conversations with no answering to me. So I know he definitely had his phone. Shady unreliable unprofessional people. Stay far far away!! Seriously just look on Craigslist with owner posts only. I have previously used these guys 2 other times and yelped them, but it was filtered.... at the time I was new to yelp they helped me find 2 different apartments, the first when I moved up from Virginia and needed a place to live instead of a hotel, and then the following year when I wanted to upgrade a little. They also helped me find a replacement tenant for my lease when I had to move back out of state to help my ederly parents. These guys are the best and I have now had the pleasure of working with Matt and Joe before and now Frank and Elena and they have ALL been wonderful. The team atmosphere at the Realty Net is really a welcome relief from some of the other real estate offices. I feel like I mean somethin there. It seems like the previous reviewer and I had opposite experiences, since I was very skeptical at first. I found an apartment on craigslist that I really wanted to see and called to make an appointment to view it. However, even after calling four times, no one got back to me. The next day, I went by their office first thing to wrangle someone into seeing it. Needless to say, I didn't have high hopes. Thankfully, the agent I worked with was very apologetic and showed me the apartment himself right away. Although that one didn't end up working, he listened to my specifications and (the following week) showed me several good options until I found the perfect spot. He didn't make it sound like there were no apartments available, even though I was looking later in the season. The missing star is for that first experience. However, I found Boston Realty Net really listened to my needs (whereas other companies hadn't) and found me some great apartments to view. read more

The worst shadiest realtors ever. Moved home from West to East coast . Matt found me a place - supposedly checked it out .. All pics looked great! Excited coming home, moving to Brookline , get there DUMP! Funny how the pics i saw on mls and from matt ( my broker ) were strategically taken to not show any problems ! what i walked into! After a red eye w a 15 yr old. Even the owner of the place agreed! The landlord! She was mad at her broker for not telling her these issues! Boston Realty Net knew they had scammed me and gave me back ( after i sent pics & multiple emails , texts phone calls! ) their fee for wasting my time & hello Now im in a hotel w my son LOOKING for a place! Wtf ! Well Frank ( one of the co owners , i had thought his title was sort of the manager over the brokers, mine, Matt at least ) said listen go after the landlord for the hotel bill its her fault she has to fix these problems as u & her signed lease but i kept thing but u guys are the reason im In a hotel, so FRANK HAD ME SIGN a release letting Boston Realty Net off the hook . I am naive and believed him. So for almost 2K ( staying in a hotel w my son in Feb - snow storm - my stuff being shipped to the address in Brookline & my Jeep , trying to find a place & he he needs to start school - he was registered and excited for Brookline HS. ) yah really! My friends were moving to Boston from Brasil so a very long move. I searched on craigslist for apartments and called and emailed a bunch of companies. I was shocked at how many companies never called me or emailed me back (but my friends budget wasn't very big either) Out of the companies that did call me back Boston Realty Net was the best. They returned my email first and then called me the same day to help. My friend was not coming in to Boston for a few weeks but would need a place to live that day so Frank offered to send me and my friends the listings by email. We looked over all of the listings and Frank took the time to listen to what they needed. My friends plane landed 2 weeks later and we went out on the search. They were able to get a great apartment right on Newbury Street and the landlord was even paying 1/2 the realtor fee. I am so happy they found a great place and I know that we wouldn't have done that without Frank. I'm glad I didn't find Steven Hogan on Yelp because I probably wouldn't have used him! I seriously don't understand these bad reviews. I actually found him because I contacted Steven about an apartment that was posted on Craigslist. I highly recommend him. He is easy to deal with, not pushy or annoying, considerate of your rental needs and only has you look at places that meet those needs. He's on time when you're going to meet him. He was always there before me. I contacted him and although I changed the time I could meet multiple times, and last minute, he made it happen. That first place didn't workout for us and about 2 weeks later he contacted me at midnight on a Friday because he was just about to list a place that met our needs perfectly. I couldn't believe he remembered us and what we needed, couldn't believe he emailed me about it on midnight on Friday instead of just listing it and letting me know later. I responded right away, he showed it to us bright and early the next day, we put in our applications Saturday and signed a lease on Sunday. The lease has been signed and his check has been cashed and he is still responding to my texts in less than hour. Answering questions, giving me advice on things to do to help the move easier. Edit: Steven is great. The side of this company that manages apartments once you're living there not so great. The low reviews on Yelp didn't make sense to me until I moved in. My boyfriend and I worked with Bobby Doyle to find an apartment in South Boston. Bobby worked extremely hard for us over the month and a half that we worked with him. Every listing we sent to him he would reach out to the agents immediately and get us in to see the place as soon as possible. When it came to applying for apartments he was on top of getting everything checked and in to the listing agent quickly so we wouldn't lose out. I'm currently working on getting my undergraduate degree at Emerson College, and I was recently put in a very tough spot when my housing plan for the fall fell through on short notice. Most of the good undergraduate studio apartments are taken by May, so I was extremely anxious when I hadn't found a place to live by July. I also had a terrible experience in June with another realtor who pulled a "bait and switch" with pictures of a fabulous apartments that looked nothing like the pits he ended up showing me (which were out of my price range and in neighborhoods that I told him I did not want to live in.) I was finally able to get in contact with Dan at Boston Realty Net, and he showed me 5 apartments in my price range in one day. All of them fit the specifications I had given him (near the T, heat and hot water included, as close to Downtown as I could get at my price point, in the neighborhoods I had specified, etc.) After a very stressful two months of uncertainty and frustration, Dan helped me find a place to live within 3 hours. I ended up with what is essentially my ideal apartment in Back Bay, which I had assumed would be impossible due to the time constraints and the limited options that other realtors had given me. I had also assumed a decent studio in Back Bay would be out of the question with my price range. Everyone at Boston Realty Net seemed incredibly genuine and invested in finding me an apartment that I would be happy with, and I was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic experience I had with them. DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THIS COMPANY FULL OF SLEAZE BALLS AND SCAM ARTISTS. I had the worst experience with Boston Realty Net. The agent we got stuck with, Matt Scano, was the most unethical and unprofessional person I have ever met. He rushed us through the apartment, barely answered our questions, and couldn't be bothered to take the time to fill out the rental application with us. We then worked with Matt Yanosy, who misinformed us about where our money was going. He also told us that his business partner has a very good relationship with the landlord of the building in which we would be renting; he also testified about his character saying that he was a very attentive individual and a great guy. We noticed some things that were wrong with the apartment during our first walk through, so we put them down as contingencies on our lease. Matt Scano assured us that all repairs were being fixed and just two days before our move in date, Matt claimed to have done a final walk through of the apartment. We asked if we could meet him there to do it with him, and he refused. He told us that we have to pay him his brokers fee before he gives us keys and that he would only meet us at his office. Because he told us that everything was fixed and we had no reason to doubt him at this point, we paid him and took possession of our keys. When we arrived at the apartment we realized why Matt didn't want to meet us there-- the place was a mess and none of the repairs had been fixed. And conveniently, the landlord fell off the face of the earth and nothing is being done. So here we are, sitting in Hurricane Irene, with our ceiling dripping water, our windows leaking, and no hot water. We've tried calling Boston Realty Net several times since our July move in; we've left messages, we've emailed. They will not return our calls. Clearly their biggest concern in life is getting paid and tricking people into paying them. Once they have their money, they couldn't care less about you. We also asked for copies of our paperwork (the paper we supposedly signed saying we owe them a brokers fee (we never signed it), our lease, and other papers.). We asked in person and via email. They won't supply us with paperwork and they deny our requests. Pretty professional if you ask me... Inspectional services came out and told us that our building is unsafe to live in. My girlfriend and I (both professionals) were looking for a dog-friendly 1bdrm Beacon Hill apt, and David showed us 3 places, 2 of which we REALLY liked. We picked a place immediately after seeing all of them, filled out apps and gave a deposit. This particularly place was listed with 23 agencies and David was able to see if applications had been submitted to see where we were in the order. We were first. David called us first thing the next morning (a Sunday) to let us know we were approved. Leases were signed 2 hours later. Through his experience, he knows the market, the area, and the landlords, and was able to move effectively and efficiently to get us the place we wanted. Unfortunately some people have nothing better do to than just spend their time writing bad reviews for certain industries. I do not agree with any of the bad comments I have read about this place. When I was in a bind looking for a place a number of agents here worked together to find me a place. I ended working with Matthew S. who spent the whole day with me while I looked at everything available. Needless to say I have worked with many other places in Boston and I can not say enough good things about Matthew and his coworkers. I worked with Danny Allen and had an extremely great experience. He was always prompt when answering my questions and addressing any issues. He showed me the apartment the day it came on the market and I was very pleased with how well the process turned out. He communicated the necessary steps for taking care of all the paperwork and setting up the move in schedule. On the actual move in day, he even helped me move all of my household items up to the apartment! It was a very generous act and indicative of his character, it made the moving so much easier. I would not recommend this realty to anyone. They are crooks and do not abide by their commitment to return the rental deposit upon leaving an apt. after a lease is up. I was told that once my lease is up and I leave the apt. they found for me I would be given my deposit back which was a significant amount of 1,500.00. After I left the apt. I never received my deposit and this is almost 7 months later. Mr. Matt Yanosi should not still be in this business and I will make sure that action is taken against him and his real estate business for the fraudulent activities they are engaging in towards innocent people who trust their worthiness. Absolutely amazing team!! I will be moving to Boston soon thus need a place to leave. Weeks prior to my trip to Boston I had been talking to an agent from Boston Luxe on a daily basis. I had told him what area I had wanted and told him what days I would be available. The day of my flight the agent emailed me listings in areas I didn't want. The worry wart that I am.. When we came to move in on September 1, it turned out that the unit Jamie told the management company we wanted was not the one that he showed us! (And no, every apartment in the building is not the same.) He'd also told us that the carpets in the unit would be replaced before we moved in, and it turns out that the management company no such plans in place. After the residential property manager heard our story, he's told us that he will no longer use Boston Realty Net to handle their (100+) apartments. read more

STEVE HOGAN IS THE ONLY REALTOR I WILL EVER USE!!! I was looking to purchase my first condo and not only did I want to find the perfect place, but I wanted to make sure the process went as smooth as possible. I had sold mortgages for a little while, so I was familiar with the whole buying process but I had never gone through it myself. Thank god I found steve. He spent hours with me and my girlfriend listening to everything we were looking for and he gave us a number of amazing suggestions we never would have thought of. After that he actively stayed on top of the market for us and made sure we never missed an opportunity to see a place that fit our criteria. Even though our price range was relatively low, and it was not going to be a large sale for him, Steve treated us like we were million dollar clients. I could not have asked for better service or dedication from a realtor. I only realized how invaluable Steve really was once we found the perfect place. I could write an entire book on all the BS my seller put me through, but suffice to say they lied to us and tried to deceive us every step of the way. It was so bad that if I didn't have Steve I probably would have walked away from the deal. Every time anything came up, Steve was instantly on the phone with me, strategizing counter offers and a wide variety of scenarios and solutions to the trouble my buyers gave us. He was always more than happy to talk with me about any of my concerns and always gave me great advice. The day before my close I had my final walkthrough and it was a complete nightmare, the sellers did not do a think they were supposed to do. However, instead of spending the rest of the day worrying and making calls, I went to work and let Steve take care of it all. I have no idea how he got the seller to get all of the work done in 1 day, but by that evening when I had my second walkthrough, all of the work was done and there was a professional cleaning team making my new home spotless, free of charge. Then to my surprise, when I arrived at the close I found that Steve had been working all night and morning to get me some additional compensation for the trouble of the first walkthrough. It was not a ton of money, but instead of being satisfied that the deal was going to close (like most realtors would have), Steve worked that night and morning to get me everything he could, even though there was nothing additional in it for him. I could go on and on about how amazing Steve was and how thankful I am that I had him looking out for me, but I am sure you don't want to read another 5 pages. All you need to know is that Steve Hogan is the best realtor is Boston PERIOD! He truly cared about me and did all he could to make sure my first home purchase was an amazing experience. He put in the time, effort and dedication I would except for a multi-million dollar deal, event though my purchase was no where near that. I was so happy with him I insisted my coworker use him for her first home purchase. She is now happily in her new home, and agrees that she would never use another realtor. When my sister is ready to look for her first home in a few years, my family already knows who her realtor is going to be, STEVE HOGAN! I am so thankful that I found Steve. This is my first review on Yelp but definitely a worth while one. I am completely new to Boston and was unfamiliar with the rental process, especially in the city. While I talked to multiple agents I found on craigslist, Steve Hogan absolutely was the best. He was willing to educate me about the area and work hard to find a spot that I would enjoy and fit my financial needs. This was my second time working with Frank Carroll, one of the owners of Boston Realty Net. I first met Frank 4 years ago and again recently worked with him to find me another great apartment. Both times he sincerely listened to me, what I was looking for, and didn't waste anyones time by trying to push places that I would not like. Since first meeting him I have gotten to know him a little better and he is very professional with great connections in the city; many other brokers I would see on apartment viewings always spoke very highly of Frank and it's why I continued to work with him. Over the past few days, I had the pleasure of meeting Steve Hogan, a member of the BRN team. We met by chance when I responded to a CraigsList ad. When I didn't like the unit I went to see, he dropped everything and took me to a few other properties after getting more of a flavor for what I was interested in. Steve has gone above and beyond over the past few days to find my roommate and I a perfect place, and not perfect for him but perfect for us. On one occasion, Steve got word of a property that just became available and he commuted all the way into Boston on his day off just to show me the unit. He is a stand-up guy - honest, hardworking, and experienced. Not only would I recommend him, but I would urge you to call the BNR team and ask for Steve by name, because he is that good.
