I fell in love with a white wool rug two years ago and just couldn't stop thinking about it, and while I don't let anyone wear shoes in my apartment I have a Goldendoodle. Right, a dog who loves the outdoors and can't take his shoes off! I bought the rug anyhow, and after a year I noticed that one side of it looked gray in areas, then I had the "aha" moment that it was where my pup likes to lie. I moved a year ago and just flipped the rug around and bought myself some time. Last month I decided to move again, and looked around to see if this rug was available in a material I could clean at home? No, wool only. I just assumed that sending a rug out for cleaning was hundreds of $$, and that was why I was thinking of calling it a lesson learned and just throw it away. I happened to see a post on NextDoor from someone asking about rug cleaning, and narrowed it down to Boston Rug and Kennedy Carpets. I get up early so I am often emailing at that time, and sent a message to both with details on the rug, size, etc. Received a message from Bahman with all the details, as well as a 20% offer for mentioning "cute dog" (the cute dog on his website is his dog). I said I was moving in a month and would get back to him when I had more details, and when I did, someone came and picked it up the next day and it was back a week later (earlier than expected!!!). I was so anxious to see it when it came back, but was rolled/wrapped up so nicely that I knew to leave it that way for the movers. As soon as I was in my new living room, I unrolled it and it is LIKE NEW!! Hooray!!!! Thanks to Bahman and his crew, I have what looks like a brand new rug again. I had this website bookmarked for months before finally accepting that my ancient inherited oriental rugs needed professional cleaning. My friends, my pulmonologist, my coworkers, they were all like "wait, you don't clean your rugs?!?" And I said "I vacuum them" and "I got them from my parents and they've never sent them off to a rug cleaner." Yelp reader, I was wrong. You need to have a professional actually CLEAN your rug. And so, I finally did. Boston Rug Cleaning was fantastic. Reasonable prices, rugs were done in about 2 weeks, good communication, and very pretty rugs- with no weird chemical cleaning smell. Also, it's like those ASMR videos of people cleaning filthy rugs and you're like "it was red this whole time?!" That's how I felt when the rugs came back and I unfurled them from their paper casings. The colors are so vibrant and evenly tufted. I feel like I've grown out of my family's incorrect conviction that wool rugs don't need deep cleaning - they really do! My lungs are happy! The weird smell in my house when we've been gone for a week is also gone! Anyway, it's work to move all the furniture away and roll up the rug, but definitely worth the effort (you need to sweep under there anyway, guarantee it). The company will pick up the rug but if you have a car it's not hard at all to take over yourself and save some $. They're on Rte 9 and parking was no problem- they also helped move the rugs in and out of the car. So happy with the service! read more

I wish I could give them 100 stars. Despite vacuuming somewhat regularly and occasionally spot treating stains, I'm a gross person who has wreaked havoc on my rug. It's a 7-year-old, synthetic fiber area rug which I bought from IKEA. High foot traffic, spilled ski wax, and hair really took its toll on this rug. Bahman and his team worked their magic- washing and vacuuming it many times until it was up to his high standards. This rug looks brand new to my eyes! I dropped off and picked up, but they also offer that as a service in case you have larger rugs or less time to bring it to Brookline. Next time I drop by, I'll definitely check out their show room. I really wanted to be excited about writing a review for this company. I chose these guys because it said they do repairs. I have a 8x10 wool rug with two spots where the piling was pulled out and it needed a cleaning. Nothing too crazy. I reached out for a quote and the guy said he had to do in person so he scheduled a visit next day. He arrived and told me the rug couldn't be repaired. I told him I just wanted it cleaned then. He knelt down and began rolling it up (I assumed to check the back side?) and hoisted it over his shoulder and as he's basically walking out with it, said it would be $240 and back in 10 days. What!! He left behind an invoice with his card attached and no actual written quote. A week or two later he called to tell me it's ready. I asked him the price and how I can pay, he said $260 and by check. What?! He disagreed with the price, but I quoted the 20% off in his site and he dropped the price to $220 (which isn't 30% off). After explaining I wouldn't be home to receive it, my husband would but didn't have the check book, he reluctantly took my credit card over the phone. After unrolling the rug, it's nothing special. In fact, there are still visible stains on it. Overall would not recommend the service, and shady business dealings, for the high price tag. read more

We had 2 rugs to get cleaned, one large and one small. They turned them around in about 10 days and they were reasonably priced and did a good job. I spoke to "Bob" before our rug was picked up and asked if they could deal with dog urine stains and smells and he said "yes."$514 later the rug came back with yellow stains turned orange and still smelling like urine and a handout on how to deal with pet urine. If we had been warned ahead of time I would feel differently about this, but we were not. The rug went out into the trash the same day. Bahman's comment is correct, he did send me that email. I had 2 area rugs I needed cleaned. They were able to pick them up within days of my call. We have a dog and both ended up with urine or vomit on them at some point. While not able to remove the stains completely, which they clearly stated at the time, they did an amazing job on those areas.
