I am grateful to have Gerry from Bostonebikes nearby, have learned much from him, and highly recommend him for your e-bike purchasing and maintenance. I appreciate his willingness to explain the different components and options for the e-bike so you can talk through the best solution for your needs. His shop has a lot of variety of parts needed, but he is also able to source from elsewhere. He is responsive on texts and calls and gives good estimates for pricing and ETAs. All the staff are nice, patient, helpful, knowledgeable, and reasonable. I was in the market for a high performance e-bike on a low budget in 2022. I wanted front suspension, 29inch wheels, 54 V battery and 750W motor, to get at least 30 miles of range and at least 30mph of speed. I wanted to be able to take the bike on light offroad trails, such as at the Middlesex Fells Reservation, and to have the bike be discreet. The bikes I wanted were all over $3.5k, and I was somewhat worried about the parts being proprietary or specialized. My research on off-the-shelf brand bikes led me down a rabbit hole to custom e-bikes, and it seemed cheaper to slap on a battery and motor on an existing bike instead. I didn't have the time or bike knowledge to engineer it myself, so I bought a used mountain bike online for $500 and took it to Gerry to convert it for around $2k, with all the repairs, additions, and labor. The result is an awesome machine that I feel confident taking on trails or the main roads, and locking up in the city. I liked that I was able to customize the handlebars and rear rack, and have optionality for upgrades, such as a removable and lockable battery. An ebike like this is a lot of maintenance though, so fair warning. Brakes will wear out a lot sooner, and MANY bikes shops refuse to perform even simple repairs on any e-bike or custom bike. All electronic components come with a warranty too, and we swapped out components that were potentially malfunctioning. If you want to save on money and have a customized solution for a high performance e-bike, then look no further. If you have more money to spend, you might convince yourself that buying off-the-shelf is less stress and worry, since components are rated for the speed (less maintenance and repair, but maybe more $ if the components are proprietary?), but definitely do your research and stop by Bostonebikes to talk to Gerry and play with his dog, Tessa! read more

I wanted to get an ebike for commuting to work in Boston, and I stumbled across bostonebikes. I sent a message to inquire about their Robin X ebikes, and Gerry offered for me ot make an apointment and come check out these ebikes. I must say that I have rarely been welcomed like this: Gerry was very nice without being pushy, took all the time I needed for my questions, and even lended me (for free) an ebike while I waited for mine to be delivered as it had to be ordered from Euphree. If only all businesses operated like that... Gerry is also very present and helpful after the purchase too, for maintenance of the bike or if a problem were to arise. He personally takes care of the euphree warranty without you having to then deal with euphree, which is awesome. Since September 2021, when Gerry converted my '86 Miyata, I've cycled over 7400. Miles. Over those months, improvements came to mind that Gerry engineered better than I imagined. Experience counts! Recently, he upgraded my motor from 500w to 750w, increasing battery efficiency and power. In November, i retired the Miyata and purchased a Euphree City Robin X+ from Gerry. After over 500 miles, I can report that it performs marvellously well, incredibly comfortable- just a joy to ride! Appreciate the test ride with Davin, he was patient, understood I haven't rode a bike for a while, and gave me good tips including how to use the shifters- let me ride around the park that was up the street a few times. And when I went to pick up my bike, Davin made sure to adjust the seat and handle bars to my comfort..Thanks! My set up was good, but when I had an issue with an accessory, Gerry was willing to resolve it. He is also an understanding , kind and generous person. The setup was very good, some people on bike forums do complain about set ups. Knew the bike I wanted and called Gerry on a Sunday afternoon to see if they had the bike, which they did. Met him shortly after at the T-Station and we talked for a bit about the bike, then business, life, etc.... Took bike for a ride and met the 'brothers crew'. It was the Gerry and team that sold the bike; good group of guys that knew what they were talking about, did best to ensure I knew what I wanted, while being friendly and courteous.... Took home a Euphree Stellar Falcon the next day which they helped to load on the rack. There are only a few places in Boston where one can get an ebike serviced or repaired. I emailed Gerry and he told me to drop my bike by that day and he'd diagnose the issue. Gerry was friendly and honest about the repairs and the cost. And while the cost seemed steep, one has to consider parts (prices everywhere are increasing) and labor (you get what you pay for), and someone who owns an independent bike repair shop also has to make a living. I feel confident Gerry will get the job done expeditiously and professionally. My ebike is my only mode of transportation as I don't have a car, so my bike needs the best servicing. Waited a few months trying to figure out repairs and then got a recommendation to call Boston Ebikes. Gerry is fantastic! I went to Gerry with an Aventon E-bike that was in desperate need of some TLC. Gerry went above and beyond to make sure that when I got my bike back it would be running beautifully. Additionally he really is just such a personable guy. Boston E-bikes are the absolute best! I have a RadWagon that is my primary vehicle and I use it to drop off my 3 girls at school and bike them around. Given my precious cargo I take it to Boston E-bikes about every 400 miles to ensure that it's safe and riding well. The team takes such good care of me, makes sure I have the best and SAFEST breaks as it can be hard to break with the heavy load. What an amazing place and group of people! My bike service was done exceptionally fast and was such an easy process. I didn't ask for it, nor expect it, but my bike was cleaned up with loose parts taken care of. I had a great experience with this biking service! I brought in my Aventon e-bike, and they did a fantastic job--replaced the brake pads, fixed the gear issues, and gave it a good greasing. I found the Boston eBikes team to be really knowledgable and not at all pushy.
