The people were friendly and welcoming, and I had no problem getting answers to my questions and loads of attention. they were personable and knowledgeable and good listeners as well. When you step into Conte's and look into the well-kept shop, you feel something. Everyone greets you and makes you feel at home. Have a coffee. Bring the hang. Talk shop. It's all part of the amazing experience. They realize that buying parts and bikes and apparel is a personal experience and they get personal. Jn just the right way. If customer service could fit like a garment, this would indeed be a glove. They answer all my questions and they don't hesitate to listen. Not hear. Listen. There's a difference. Conte's has this in spades. They've kept my bikes running well and they're like that flinty-eyed mechanic that everyone talks about. Always answers your questions without thinking you have two heads. Easily the best bike shop in Boston. They carry all the best brands (same as those in other local shops...Cannondale, BMC, Pinarello, Cervelo, Velotric, Santa Cruz, Giant, Factor, Gazelle, Urban Arrow, Tern and more) but they are NICE to you. No surly mechanics, no impatient sales people. Just good people who love bikes and people who ride them. read more

I bought a Lectric bike as a gift to myself during a very challenging time. And lo and behold, I opened the box and it didn't work. By chance a friend told me about Conte's, and I took a gamble and made the long drive to Lexington. It was worth it, and then some. Never have I experienced such a knowledgeable, generous, good-willed staff. Their combination of can-do-ism, kindness, and professionalism transformed a frustrating experience into a redeeming one. Anthony in this bike shop is a swindler! I walked in with my bike and my daughter's bike. Without even looking closely he tells me it will be "a few hundred dollars" to tune up my Trek because the "wheels are flat" when in fact I just didn't put air in them since last fall. And he tells my daughter's bike is "too small for her" just because I didn't raise the handlebars up. This is a con man. Beware!!!!!! read more

Patrick, the repair manager at Conte's bike shop in Lexington is awesome and very knowledgeable. He serviced my electric bike and has done small repairs on it since. I ride an ebike 5-20 miles a day and need a reliable shop for regular maintenance since the demise of the Bike Stop in Arlington in a fire in 2023. Conte's in Lexington is the closest to me, and I would go there for maintenance, but the store has just lost my business after two bad experiences in two months. A mechanic repaired loose brakes on my bike 6-8 weeks ago, replacing a part. A few weeks later, the brakes began to loosen again, so I brought the bike back. This was the same basic problem I'd had less than 2 months ago, but not only did I have to pay for them to fix it again, they added an e-bike surcharge. I had also brought a 20 x 4 tire to the store a few weeks ago and asked the mechanic to inflate it, which he did promptly. But when I tried to ride the bike, the tube burst out of the rim. I returned to the store and another mechanic took one look at the tire and said it had a bad bead and I needed a new tire. Curiously, he didn't offer to sell me a tire. A few days later, still trying to resolve the tire problem, I went to a local competitor store. The mechanic there explained that the tire was fine and showed me how to inflate a 20 x 4 tire properly. Other customers may find the service at Conte's better, and these experiences may have been flukes. But they were costly in both time and money, and I'll travel a little further to another store for more reliable, affordable service. read more

Really impressed with the employees at the shop- really nice, knowledgeable, and honest. They took the time to answer all my questions, and even looked at my older bike and made adjustments without charging me (they also inspected the bike and were honest in saying that no repairs were needed at that time, but gave advice on what to look out for in the future when it may need fixes). read more

My daughter's bike chain came loose as we were beginning on the Minuteman Bike Trail today so we wheeled her bicycle to Conte's since it was so close to where we were. The gentleman behind the counter helped us right away, repairing the chain as well as pumping up the tires, while teaching my daughter how to do it. No charge. I picked-up my bike and it turns out that they had not tuned the rear derailleur after replacing the hanger. Had to bring it in AGAIN, then this time, they tuned it while my wife waited. Now it shifts like dura ace should shift - like buttah. read more
