This is a cute little shop for oddities in downtown Riverside. They mostly stock teas, trinkets,…read moreand witchy stuff like crystals and herbs. I used to be more into that stuff as a kid, so while it's not quite my thing anymore, I still enjoy dropping by to check out the novelty goods. I got my favorite mug here and for a pretty fair price too! They make a huge variety of tea blends, available in tiny pouches so you can sample lots of different types without making a commitment to a huge bag. There is a shop cat who lives here named Pepper. She seems clean and friendly, and the teas are hung up on the wall and not placed on a table so you won't get litter paws all over your tea leaves. Maybe it's just something to be aware of if you have cat allergies or just dislike them.

I've got to see the doctor because my eye makes me look like a gargoyle and the itching makes me feel like a cranky gargoyle. My appointment is in a couple hours so I head over to Day Street Market. I've got my basket filled with Persian cookies, Lebanese yogurt, saffron, couscous, ghee, spices and pita bread. I'd love to buy some lamb and beef but I'm avoiding buying them until I trust the government. The man at the counter speaks with me about my fears and assures me his halal meet is 100% beef and lamb. I believe him, but I'll wait just a little longer and then I'll be back. Now, off to urgent care and off with my sunglasses. I could barely see anything in the market with my sunglasses on and they probably thought I was pretending to be someone famous. I'll be back for the meat when I don't look like a famous gargoyle.

The dill in the tuna complemented the salty and fish essence of said tuna, and brought refreshment not only to my mouth but to my soul and whole body in this monstrous heat. The lettuce was crunchy yet silky and the tomato was sweet and perfectly ripe yet still could hold its shape and didn't fall out at all. For how packed the sandwich was I was very impressed with how well it held up between the multi grain bread. I feel renewed and redeemed after eating that #4 tuna sandwhich. As I took my first bite, "oh yeah" but Steve lacy played in my car stereo, and instead of feeling like a chud loser for eating alone, I felt like a girl who was going to be okay- I saw light at the end of the tunnel, the wind felt cooler, I could see past the smog and the sky cleared up. It was as if God had intervened and blessed me with not only the best sandwich of my life but the hope that things will be okay and life is beautiful and whimsical. I will forever be changed. Sprouts deli didn't just serve me a sandwich, they served me hope. Eating that sandwich was the best 10 minutes of my life and probably the closest to heaven I will get while I'm here on earth. You will find a great variety of artisanal oils here. They also offer a tasty selection of balsamic vinegar. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable on the products offered. They have great suggestions and are always willing to provide sample tasting. They don't have bread with the samples ( like similar Northern California artisanal shops provide). So just bring your own baguette if you can't taste oil and vinegar solo. I bought a set of oil and balsamic vinegar to give as a birthday gift. .
