There is a very good selection of vegan items in this grocery store, with a great, adjacent vegan cafe! There are some items that I could get at Sprouts that I don't believe I saw here. However, there were also items that I don't believe that I have seen before. So, I think this provides an excellent selection of specialty items! I might not be here for groceries every week. However, I definitely expect to return, and I am glad this is part of the local community! read more

La Sierra is awesome for bulk goods, plant-based meats, frozen meals, and lots of specialty vegan items that are hard to find elsewhere. Their produce section is not very good, so this is not a one-stop grocery store. Still, I like to go here once a month to stock up on things I can't get elsewhere in West Riverside. They have a particularly great plant-based meat section, with bulk amounts available in the very large freezer section along the back wall. I've discovered some new yummy protein foods here which have made home cooked meals much easier and tastier! read more

Our family went in and spent $60 in this store and when our two kids needed to the bathroom the manager (TOM) told us no. A white gentleman had just walked out so we knew it was open and in working order. I can only assume TOM didn't want Mexicans using his facilities. I have stopped here many times before and was a good customer. I will no longer be returning due to this treatment. read more

As a vegetarian for many years, I'm used to mixed supermarkets where there is a small vege meat section in the freezer section and in the refrigerated section. THIS PLACE IS VEGE FRIENDLY THROUGHOUT, and at market value prices. Some items are slightly higher compared to larger chains that carry Morningstar or Quorn, but they have brands that large grocer's don't have. They have organic produce, awesome fair trade chocolate, "better than bouillon" bases, chips, Califia, more varieties of Follow Your Heart than other places. This place has no real meat. It does have a lot of Kellogg's Worthington meats, canned meats especially which is interesting. This market also has a vegetarian cafe sitting area inside which is nice. Honestly, this reminds me of the all vege market in Portland which is amazing. Love, love , love this place! There is a security guard walking around, making sure people don't steal stuff. read more

Only recently I had learned of this grocery store. I had even forgotten about it until we decided to eat at Oasis Vegetarian Cafe again, which is connected to and outside of this store. It was at La Sierra natural foods that I discovered peanut butter malt balls. If you're a peanut butter fan then "Hear ye, hear ye' !! Get your peanut butter malt balls at La Sierra Natural Foods!!!" So lemme tell you without guilt... I did not share. I think someone in the household snuck a piece. But no big deal to me. I want em to be hooked on these too! They're so yummy :-D Even more recently I've been on the hunt for kombucha. On my last visit, I found Kevita brand kombucha in flavors of Ginger, Lavender Melon, and Grapefruit. I love grapefruit! I googled Kevita and they have a few more other flavors I wish I had found at this store, like raspberry lemon and pineapple Peach . I know that to shop organic and health worthy, it can get expensive. At the same time, any choice of diet trend you guru, may still amount to 'expensive'; cuz you factor in eating out to save time, buying your juicing machine, or a veggie/fruit blender of some sort... but just be cost conscious. As for this store, I'd rather shop here than at that other 'wholly' expensive place. read more

You guys closed out the nowhere.. its ok we have to understand. I wish you could at least had a sign or something so customers don't drive all the way over there for no reason, why is that you guys can't even update yelp? it says you guys will be open tomorrow..... Only reason why I go to this store is because they have over priced plant based options. If you plan to come this store call first because you never know when they will be open, they closed early sometimes, and other days they just change their scheduled. I also recommend to check in other stores for plant based options because they have everything almost double the price comparing to other places. read more

It actually breaks my heart to leave this review, but I have to. I've been shopping at this store for YEARS. My mom used to bring me here as a kid to pick up veggie food. I shopped here as a grad student. I've never had a problem. Imagine my surprise when I shopped here today and was FOLLOWED by the "security guard" (short, blonde, doesn't even bother to be stealthy). I tried to shake it off, but when I spent my ENTIRE shopping trip looking behind me and seeing her there it was super obvious that it wasn't a coincidence. Her post was by the front door, why was she behind me while I was peeping the price of redi burger? Why was she still hanging tough as I pursued flax seed crackers? And WHY was she STILL there when I was trying to locate the coconut wheat sticks? La Sierra Natural Foods, I urge you to look into this matter. LS Market is always clean, bright, cheerful, and nicely-laid-out. They have a great inventory of classic healthy choices but seems weekly they receive new interesting items featuring the latest nutrition trends. But I enjoy the fun of digging through the 50% and 75% off shopping carts for unusual treasures! Yesterday Friday morning around 9:30, I found some wonderful healthy candies, granola mixes, and soups. But my special complements to checkout associate 'Victoria' who was so upbeat, cheerful and helpful! Her attitude really brightened my day! You'll find some of the best produce here (usually organic) and some of the most epic and not so easy to find vegetarian/vegan options. Been coming here for a while and it only improves overtime. There is also a cute place to eat directly connected to the store if you get hungry or want to eat before you go shopping. Came here today after my appointment. Excellent!! Finally, a supermarket made for vegetarians like myself. All I gotta say is that this is EVERY VEGETARIAN'S SUPERMARKET DREAMS COME TRUE!!!!!!!! They have all kinds of brands that I've never even seen before!!! They have big loaves of vegan ham, veg corned beef, and.......it's just waaaaaaaaaaaay too much to list but I was truly impressed!! We were really excited to find this store. They have a great selection of vegan food. Unfortunately, our excitement quickly subsided after two very disappointing experiences. The first occurred when we bought a pre-packaged spring mix only to bring it home to discover that it was all wilted and soggy inside. We had to throw it directly into the trash. The next experience had to do with an item they did not have in stock. We were told that they could place an order of the items for us. They took all our information and said we would get a call when ordered so we would get an ETA. One week passed with no call. We called them and were told it wasn't ordered yet, but it would be ordered by the following Monday and we would get a phone call when the order was placed. It is now three weeks since they originally took our order. When we called to get an update we were told they still haven't ordered it. Horrible customer service and even worse follow up. While we would have loved to support this business, we probably wont be returning. read more

My initial thought, was this must be a mistake maybe this place is no longer in business because I've never heard of it. But nope! I went today and I couldn't be more happy! It's literally around the corner from my house. I've lived in riverside almost 4 years and I've even drove by this place and never noticed until now. I have LOVED this store since the early 80's when I was a Loma Linda U. student and lived in the married student housing- (lovingly known as The Raley Hills Estates - haha!) and bought my first Indian cookbook there. I learned so much from this store- about Dr. Bronner's soaps, how to bake good bread, about meat substitutes, amazing vegetarian foods from other countries, and so many other things. Later I took my kids there. The store and little cafe outside have gone through many renovations and changes but they always get better and better. Now it looks brighter and modern and has EVERY kind of healthy vegetarian and vegan food you could want as well as non-food things like skin care and other products. It's worth a trip! Check it out. Since I am vegan and have a medical requirement for gluten free food it is difficult for me to find meat substitutes that are both vegan and gluten free. Many meat analogs rely on wheat gluten for texture and cohesion, which make me violently ill. La Sierra Natural Foods is the best place I have ever seen to buy GF and vegan meat substitutes in 16 years eating gluten free. They also have many other gluten free food products, and the few staff members I have spoken with were very knowledgable about what they carry. They are friendly too. I'm certain they have the widest selection of meat substitutes I have ever seen anywhere. If you are vegan or you require a gluten free diet this is an excellent place for you to shop. Traders is good like cookie butter, ready made foods, and cheap bananas. La Sierra foods is where you come if you are strictly looking for a healthy, clean eating, specialty vegetarian/vegan options. They have a great selection of meat substitutes, non dairy milks, HUGE bulk section, specialty seasonings/gluten free items, etc etc the list goes on. Yes, a little pricier than your average TJs, but they are a nice family run operation and literally carry everything under the sun for clean eating & cruelty free foods. Staff is knowledgeable and very kind. They even had things I'd never seen before, and I'm an old jaded vegetarian (with vegan tendencies) who likes to cook. Great produce section! I splurged on the avocados, figs and pomegranates-- beauties! I wouldn't recommend getting the amy's or morning star products here as they can be found on sale at chain grocery stores. However, they have a lot of hard to find goodies. Finally, a place close to home where I can get soy curls! This is definitely not your one stop spot for groceries, but definitely a stop for the necessities of a vegetarian's pantry...if you're willing to pay the slightly steeper prices that is. But let's face it, if you don't eat meat, the healthy and organic options never come cheap. read more
