The bottom is also caramelized which just makes it so much better! The cotija jalapeno scone was okay- I probably wouldn't get it again. I'm not the biggest fan of cotija in general- it's too mild for me... overall not a bad scone, just not for me. A very foamy latte- yum! Overall, I would highly recommend! I'm a coffee snob from Houston and this is the best coffee shop in Ithaca, period. (Followed by a real period.) The aesthetic feels like an escape into a quiet city coffee shop with plants and natural light everywhere. Staff was friendly. Iced and hot lattes are both great. Visiting Cornell. Best chocolate chip cookie I have had in years. Perfect with soft chewy interior and crispy edges with a tart shape and the perfect flakey salt. Excellent latte also. Very cute interior and vibe with lots of indoor, outdoor seating and a lot of parking in large parking lot. Would encourage them to stock even more flowers to go, including (branded with logo) tiny bouquets in logo paper, small envelopes of flowers in logo envelopes, single flowers in test tube vials, and tiny flowers in vases, would make excellent gifts and great upsells for the coffee / baked items easy to grab and less commitment than a large bouquet. Lots of coffee choices - my latte was great. Just a few pastry choices for food but my cinnamon roll was really good! One in our group had a scone which she loved too. Large enough place to have tables, window stool seating & a comfy couch. Nice atmosphere with plants everywhere. This is such a beautiful space because of all the gorgeous plants. I was in heaven !!!! Not only can you buy a cute little house plant, but you can also buy a beautiful bouquet of flowers too! There's no indoor seating, but I assume that's because of covid. The location is great too, near Ithaca falls. They also have a parking lot, which is convenient. My big gripes, however. I always get a latte when I go here, and it's good each time. The space is light and airy. Staff is friendly. It's tucked away in a neighborhood so I'll either sit outside on their patio (which just looks out into the parking lot) or walk around the neighborhood. This summer I've been coming every day, the Botanist is just that good! I rec. their matcha and pistachio lattes, mochas- always sub oat milk for creamy heaven! This place starts my day off right with a helpful and friendly staff- just wish they had more food options! The interior is so lush with greenery and they partner with local business Floristry to have fresh bouquets and plants for sale in the shop. The main branch of Floristry is in Cortland, but they do daily deliveries to the Botanist and if you order ahead of time, they can arrange pick-up at the Botanist the next day! Botanist had a great ambiance, but a limited menu. Virtually no food, though maybe that's not the case if you visit very early in the morning. Also if you don't want a to go cup, you can only select 12 oz. drinks. So I had to go with less coffee than I wanted, but it was worth it to enjoy the space and people watch with a mug in hand. There was plenty of parking, and both indoor and outdoor seating. It wasn't too noisy, and the plants and design made for a great spot! read more

Cheerful, bright, modern aesthetic, beautiful plants, creative gifts, friendly baristas, decent espresso. A few tables outside. Plus they have oat milk. And matcha! And a repeat customer coffee card! They share a parking lot with Northstar. They're take-out only right now, but you can browse the plants, books, and local coffee-beans while you wait for your drink. I've got a real problem here. There are now TWO locally-owned coffee joints in Ithaca with a bevy of beautiful houseplants. Not just for display, mind you- FOR SALE. I'm getting real sick of this. I go in to buy a simple coffee drink and now all of a sudden I'm checking my bank account to see if I can swing spending $35 on a variegated ficus elastica. Good coffee, though. Botanist is by far my favorite coffee spot in Ithaca. They are a local, woman owned and operated cafe with fantastic offerings. The Americano is my go-to, but their cappuccino and chai are also great. On top of the drinks they make all of their own food! From plentiful scone options, to quick tasty snacks like rice crispie treats and others, to the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. As if all that wasn't enough, it's also a plant shop with abundant greenery and flowers lining the walls that you can simply enjoy while you're there or buy and take home with you. I was charged a dollar more for asking for LESS ice in a drink. Without being told or asked about it. I have never had such an upcharge. Other shops just give you less volume if you ask for less ice. I wanted it less cold, I'm not trying to get more drink. The significant charge felt funky, especially without asking/telling before making the drink.
