This place was delicious!!! I loved this restaurant. Right across the Ipanema beach. Went during carnival season so it was very busy, yet the line was organized and wasn't too long of a wait. We bought food for the table, which was served by the waitress. Ordered a few drinks- amazing. Everything about this restaurant was great. I'd recommend this to everyone!

salmáo em crosta de gergelim (2/10) - salmon isnt fully cooked - the sesame crust on the salmon is excessive

Food is good depending on your taste pallet. Chicken is always the safest option but its over cooked...and a but dryer than what I am used to

A great patio for relaxing dining along Leme Beach -- tasty food, good service, and ocean views that will leave you smiling.

The BEST mocktail I had on my trip to Brazil. We did pay extra to go to the rooftop, which was more quieter and less busy than downstairs. The private DJ was also enjoyable. The picahna was very tough and hard to eat but the portions are huge - definitely can share with 3-4 people.

Belmonte is a Rio institution specializing in Brazilian bar food. You'll find tons of options on the menu from croquettes to pies. You'll even fried a fried feijoada. Vegetarians will appreciate a couple of fries veggie options and a generously sized salad selection. The food choices are huge, but the taste is mostly just good. Nothing really stands out but everything was enjoyable. Taste could be improved everywhere. The cocktails are great and should be ordered. Service is amazing. You'll get whatever you need within a minute of needing it. They're extremely prompt and food arrives almost too fast. The lower level is an open patio cooled by misting fans. It's a great vibe with an enormous central bar. You can go to the second level rooftop area but might have to pay a cover depending on time of day. That area is great for watching the beach and adding an extra layer of fun to your time here. That's what Belmonte is - fun.

Moqueca rice and fish... delicious!!

Very vibrant bar! Tons of locals watching the game and drinking a beer. Us being tourists had some trouble getting by as all the staff speak Portuguese and menus are in Portuguese. We got by and the staff were quite nice. I got the trout with moqueca rice (R39) which was delicious! fried fish that is tender and crispy and the rice (quite a lot!) had lots of flavour! The only thing is that there was coriander in the rice that i'm not a fan of, but otherwise, delicious! Realized after the fact that Moqueca is a Brazilian dish! Based on salt water fish stew, tomatoes, onion garlic and coriander... all slowly cooked in a terra cotta casserole. Excellent choice!

This place is a great environment for watching the games, pizza is amazing and huge menu. Tons of options and the service is great! I'll def come here again before I leave Rio. And really close to the beach! Bus stop is really close by

Great staff. The waiter was very friendly and helped me logged in to their work-fi. It is expensive but worth it.

I had the Grilled Chicken with Broccoli rice, which initially sounded slightly strange and bland but turned out fantastic. The grilled chicken was well done but also well seasoned with savory hints of salt, pepper and onion, deliciously crisp with every bite. The strong savory chicken blends perfectly with the soothing broccoli rice side and I devoured both after a long day of hiking. The dish also came with fries (not advertised in the menu), which tasted better than most american fries and were fresh, crisp and a nice tangy complement to the meal when paired with ketchup. The entire dining experience was enjoyable and I would highly recommend this spot for future tourists and visitors of Rio!

Cute little open air pub style establishment about three blocks from the beach in Ipanema…read more Fantastic service, food is a little hit and miss. We ordered the pizza calzone which was delicious and the calamari which I would not recommend. Calamari was heavily battered and a little fishy -- if you're used to the lightly battered style you get in the US, this will seem more like the batter they use on fried clams. The Italian sausage (check out my pic) was the highlight though. It was so good, we actually ordered a second one. And of course, being as immature as we are, we laughed at the enormous length and made a lot of dirty jokes as we ate it. Fun! The drinks are smaller here than most other places we've been but are strong. Caipirinhas were good, but we had better a couple blocks away at Porcao. The ambiance is nice with both indoor and outdoor seating. Prices are reasonable for Rio and like most restaurants in the city, they add a 10% service charge.

Service was also very good, attentive and friendly, and the overall atmosphere was lively and pleasant. The buffet had a decent selection, though it was a bit hit or miss. Personally I skipped the sushi, as the fish looked a little darker than expected. But maybe that's the colour of raw salmon in Brazil. Cocktails were very good, though they did come with quite a bit of ice. Parking on the street is very challenging, but you mainly come here on walk, since this area is quite touristy and offers many stores nearby.

So we worked up an appetite and were ready to scarf down some meat. We were seated immediately and the waiter was quick to take our drink orders. I love how casual Rio is; people dining around us were in swim trunks and bikinis. So laid back--great vibes. The meats alone were pretty great, but the salad bar/buffet was a little underwhelming. I tried some sushi but it was not good. The sides that come to the table were also sub-par. I usually find myself munching on way too much bread because of how good it is, but that wasn't the case here. I really liked the steak with cheese and of course the picanha. Carretao is a great place for rodizio and the price isn't too bad. Though if I were back in Rio they wouldn't be my first choice.
