This place is a must when in Rio. The food was better than any of the more expensive restaurants we went to on our visit. The service is outstanding. Go!!!

Very good food, specially the Chrurrasco Mista for 2. We shared this plate with my wife and was more than enough for the 2 of us. Passion Fruit juice was good also. Great service!

    Carne and yuca, good treat.

Good place to drink a few beers and enjoy a few local appetizers. I've enjoyed my time there while watching Brasil beat Venezuela in the 2015 Copa America.

Our concierge from the Copacabana Palace recommended this place so we gave it a try. Nothing special. We had the sliced steak, croquettes, and French fries. The best stuff was the fried food, but how can you go wrong with that. We left disappointed.

Everywhere else I had feijoada or rice and beans with beef and farofa was gross in comparison.

Honorable mentions: Shredded Beef Rice- was delicious. Rice cooked to perfection and the beef had amazing flavor. Joaquina's picadinho- beef was a salty for my taste but flavors were delicious. Tapioca Shrimp- these were sooo good appetizers. Good size shrimps and the flavors were delicious. Pasteis (shrimp)- delicious! Came with 2 smaller empanada-type pastries. We wanted to order Pork Rinds and Mini Shrimp Burgers but ran out early that day. We ate around 8 pm so go earlier if you want to try. Definitely a great culinary experience.

The drinks were phenomenal. I had a passion fruit caipirinha, and it was fresh, vibrant, and packed with real fruit -- you could see the seeds and citrus in the glass. It was refreshing but also very strong (Rio does not hold back ). If you appreciate a properly made caipirinha with a serious pour, you'll love it. We also tried another cocktail with a beautiful frothy top that was just as impressive -- both drinks were visually stunning and well balanced. For food, since it was my first meal in Brazil, I kept it simple. I ordered a traditional plate with rice, steak in gravy, crispy potatoes, farofa, and a fried egg on top. The flavors were on the milder side, but the portion was generous and extremely filling. It felt comforting and authentic -- a classic Brazilian plate done in a straightforward way.

My fellow Americans! (Obama voice)…read more So you're here in Brazil and realize the food is quite terrible, right? (I know, it's not what you expect when you travel.) Well this is a play-it-safe move for your Yankee tastebuds. Get the filet mignon and a side of rice. Don't even do the one that comes with sides because rice, French fries, and egg farofa is gonna be too much food. And besides, you don't even know what farofa is. I could tell you that it's a type of meal made from toasted cassava, but you don't know what that is either. (It's okay. We're gonna get through this.) Place is stuffier than my nose during the Santa Ana winds, so I wouldn't recommend going there wearing a ton of layers. Th-th-that's all folks! (Porky Pig voice)

It is VERY popular and I'm sure being recommended by Bourdain has a lot to do with it. The first time we tried to eat there the wait was over an hour long. We went sometime after 1AM and there was still a decent wait, maybe close to 30 minutes. The place is pretty small and cramped, but that gives it some charm. Somehow that makes the food taste even better. We ordered a little bit of everything and it was all amazing. Chicken, steak, fries, garlic bread, polenta. It was all cooked and seasoned to perfection. Everything we ordered was delicious Service was fair and prices are reasonable. Do yourself a favor and visit Galeto Sat's!
