Getting our bikes tuned up for summer!!
Katy C.

I recently took a couple of bikes into Bothell Ski & Bike that I had bought off craigslist for a tune-up and make sure everything was safe and ready to ride. Everyone was super nice and friendly and they took our bikes right away. One bike was deemed ridable and the other needed new breaks. The one that needed new breaks was wheeled away and we were told it would be complete in 3 days. We called on day three and they couldn't locate the bike. They finally found it and the work hadn't been completed. They told us it would take another day. We had to call again and check in the next day and they promised it was being worked on. After the delay, unfortunately, the breaks still aren't working well. I think this place is probably great if you have a fancy bike. I did buy a helmet from them which I love, it's lightweight and fits over my big curly ponytail. Their location is great right off the trail, friendly staff, but follow through on their work was lacking.

Tent sale

Came down with my bf to get him a new bike for commuting to work. It's not a far commute....all downhill one way....all uphill the other. We were greeted right away, and a nice employee showed him around, took him outside to the tent sale, filled his head with tons of info, answered all his questions, and then left us to discuss. They had so much to choose from, and after knowing my bf's needs and narrowing down the field for us, it made it much easier for him to make a decision. He ended up choosing a Giant brand bike. Their big tent sale....was really only $10 off....so we decided to go home and think about it, and see if we could get a better deal somewhere else. We went home, looked around onlineand decided it really was a good deal and we liked the people at the shop. So we headed back down the next day and purchased the bike and all the accessories. We appreciated the no pressure sales, the knowledgeable employees, the availability of everything. Great place to go if you are looking for good quality, experienced people and products.

I made a big mistake buying a bike here. The mechanics are condescending and rude. No idea how they even stay in business.

Plan accordingly. http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ Outdoor adventures keeps the guided groups small (maximum 12 people). I appreciate the small groups since this was my first time kayaking. Three types of kayaks are available: single, double or triple occupancy. Discover is an accepted form of payment. A Discover Pass is required to park at Spencer Spit. If you do not have a pass, a $10 day pass can be purchased with cash or check. There were several rangers checking passes on our visit so be sure to have a pass visibly displayed to avoid being ticketed. WHAT TO BRING - Signed Release of Liability - Bathing suit or non-cotton under layers preferred - A synthetic shirt (capilene, polypro, Under Armor, etc) - Shorts or pants made of a synthetic material (may get wet/damp) - Lightweight fleece jacket or windbreaker/rain jacket to provide warmth - Water shoes or sandals that strap on (or shoes that can get wet) - Sun hat and/or sunglasses - Sunscreen and chapstick - Water bottle - Optional; Camera, Plastic bag for wet items and change of clothing - If you have a gift certificate or prepaid voucher (such as Groupon) please bring a printed copy with you! Dorito Dan was our guide for the day. Dan was friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The first hour is dedicated to introductions, procedures and safety. Be sure to use the restroom before departing. Once on the water, there is no turning back. Kayaking is great for teamwork and communication. Both are required to avoid frustration. I recommend wearing weight-lifting/bicycle gloves in order to prevent blisters. Each person in our group started getting blisters towards the end of the tour. During our 3 mile kayaking trip, we spotted starfish, seals and majestic bald eagles. Thank you Outdoor Adventures for providing a magnificent day of play while surrounded by gorgeous Mother Nature. We all plan to return in the near future for another go-around.

I came in with zero cycling…read moreknowledge, and the folks there were super helpful in giving me some guidance about the different types of bikes. I was originally looking for a used bike but they only had two in my size that were both road bikes. I tried them both but ended up going with a new gravel bike that was a bit more all-purpose! They have a lot across the street where you can try out the bikes for as long as you need. I ended up testing out four diff bikes, and they were super nice about all of it even though it took me forever. They didn't have the color I wanted, but they let me know how to order it online and have it shipped there so they could build the bike for me. They said doing it this way is the same as buying directly from the store! I still get all the benefits like 30 days of free accessories installation and such. My partner also got a used bike that was in great condition!

I chatted with him while he fixed my bike and all of the prices were transparent with no hidden cost. What I love about recycled cycles is the fact that I can learn as I go and at my own pace. With the diagnosis, we figured out what we I'll address now to ride the bike and what I will need to up keep and maintain 3 months from now. What a great service and experience. 10 stars.
