Went in today with a bike I bought directly from the manufacturer and assembled myself, but I didn't trust myself with the disc brakes. One of their mechanics took a quick look at my front brake and made some adjustments, explained to me why they made a scratchy sound before and even slightly adjusted my shifter. Now it runs perfectly and all that for just 15$. I bought some accessories (rack, fender & computer) for my bike right there and then, got very good customer service. Picked up a felt decree 3, I live about 3 hours away and on my first ride the pedal sheared out of the crank arm. Bothell Ski & Bike was extremely easy to work with offered to replace my parts VIA mail but preferred to do the work themselves, I brought the bike in and they upgraded my crank and bottom bracket parts for free and installed them within 40 minutes of me dropping the bike off and then gave me a sweet deal on some pedals because of how far I had to drive. Outstanding customer service when I buy my DH bike it will definately be from here! read more

This place is simply the best. Convient location off the Burke. I've been here multiple times for a quick tire fill up at the start of a ride. Recently I came in to have my bike seat put onto my new bike I purchased from Craigslist. Got everything adjusted quickly and off I went. Can't recommend my experience more. Due to the somewhat mixed reviews, I thought I'd give them a chance regardless.. I went in expecting to be treated, as can be the case at a specialist store, like a newb fool, and to pay the price for my ignorance from the staff with scorn and nerd fueled hatred given to them by their knowledge of a niche, yet expensive past time. The store seemed pretty high end if the bike prices was anything to go by, making my bike seem like a very entry level affair. I had a bent rim on my front wheel. It was proclaimed to be dead as I expected it to be, and a replacement was offered. I decided to go with the cost overage being worth it to get my bike back on the road, and I went ahead regardless of the what if's. They were all extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and after I left with what I needed, I checked the prices of my new front wheel online to find they were way below internet prices and I had that nice warm fuzzy feeling of a bit of an upgrade to my bike :D Very happy customer. I've been coming to Bothell Ski and Bike the last few years for both ski tunes/waxes and bike service and sales - can't say enough how awesome working with them always is. They're friendly and have never mis-set my expectations around how long a special order item might take or failed to keep me updated on the status of a repair. There are some other reviews here talking about icy customer service and I can't for the life of me imagine experiencing this for myself in the shop. Even as a cyclist I sometimes expect techs to be intimidating or condescending - that's never the case here. Special thanks to Donnie who has taken more than a few extra minutes with me to explain repairs or how to help myself the next time and avoid bringing a bike to the shop. Easiest bike purchasing experience I could have hoped for. Walked in and was almost immediately greeted and helped by someone. Told him what I was looking for and he escorted me to where those type of bikes are found. He did his part in trying to sell me accessories which was fine - he is in a sales job after all. Only con was that I didn't get 'fitted' for the bike but since it was an entry level bike, I don't think it really mattered all that much. Bothell Ski & Bike is the best place in town for ski rental. They rent BRAND NEW equipment each season. The prices are competitive with other shops, but as far as I know.....and I could be wrong, they are the only ones who rent brand new equipment. If you like what you rented, there's the option to buy when you turn in your equipment. I rent each season for my daughter who is growing like a weed, so we don't want to purchase equipment at this point. The people in the shop are helpful and friendly. When it comes to purchasing a bike soon, I'll definitely go there! read more

I had a great experience with Greg and his team at Bothell Ski and Bike. I was shopping for a high end road bike. I test rode 2 bikes, a Giant and a Scott. Both great bikes and Greg was great at providing answers to all my questions. I particularly liked their ability to custom build a bike per the specific components that I wanted. They also have a great selection and inventory. I did not buy a bike from them only because I live too far away (70 mi) but I highly recommend this shop to serious cyclists. read more

My review is based primarily on bike maintenance, since I haven't purchased a bicycle here. My only purchases were a bell and tire. I have twice gone in with rubbing/squeaking issues that I couldn't identify and staff her has been helpful to determine the source and also take care of it (both times simply required lubrication/adjustments) and other incidentals at no charge while I waited. I bought a new bike tire which they put on for me, and when I picked up my bike the derailleurs had also been adjusted for me, again no charge for that. I appreciate the service which contrasts to some places that charge for every small task performed. Though I haven't tried to purchase any big-ticket items here, when I've gone in the staff has been helpful and polite. Thanks guys! read more

I just stopped in here to rent some ski gear for the weekend. I walked up to the counter and seeing the employees working on bikes through the window I waited for one of them to notice me and come offer some help...I waited...and waited...and then I said "excuse me" loudly. One of the employees looked up at me and went right back to his work! After that I just left the store... When I moved in just up the road from this shop I was excited to be able to support a local business instead of having to drive to one of the larger chains. Definitely dissapointed! read more

After collecting parts for several years I finally had everything to build the entire bike. Took the frame, wheels and all the components in to have it assembled. All the parts are brand new. Late in the afternoon after dropping everything off earlier in the day, I got a call and it was finished. Granted this was the off season so things weren't super busy but that's FAST. And it is perfect! A beautiful machine. I scheduled a fitting for a couple days later. Went in and got everything dialed in. Well worth the money. If you have never done a fitting... try it here. This is my dream bike, all carbon, all high-end components. Bothell Ski and Bike treated me great. I was a little hesitant about taking all this stuff in since I didn't buy it from them. Tell you what, from the way I was treated you would think I bought it ALL from them! The bike rides better than a dream and I can't thank everyone there enough for making my "bucket list" bike experience so great. I'll be back to this shop and have already recommended it. read more

As mechanics they do their job well but they are not ones for courtesy. I scheduled a tune-up in May and put $50 down to reserve a time. I forgot about the appointment and never received any further contact fro them. I called them back in September to reschedule and they took the bike right away telling me they should be done in 3 days. After 5 days I still hadn't received a call from them so I stopped by and my bike was ready. They REALLY don't like to use phones. They ended up charging me the full price for the tune up without me realizing it. I called them back to ask about the $50 deposit and they claim it was used on another purchase I never made. They refunded my money the second time I called but the whole thing seemed awfully shady. read more

I LOVE this bike shop! The location is great, bike selection good, and the staff is EXCELLENT! (Kinda wish they had a bigger selection of shoes, clothing & accessories, but oh well...) The folks who work here are all knowledgeable, patient, and super professional without being preachy or condescending to us newbies. This spring I shopped all over, visiting all the big shops including REI, and the little shops off the beaten bath. I ended up buying a sweet Felt V55 from Bothell S&B and got a GREAT deal! After riding it for 90 miles or so I came back for a professional 'bike fit' which was worth every penny! I learned so much from Donny! He gently sold me on going clipless (finally!) and now I love it! Every time I come in for help or advice they take great care of me! I live in Renton, but drive the horrible traffic of I-405 simply because they are so great! Now I love to ride, thanks in large part to Bothell Ski & Bike! read more

My son lives in Kenmore and goes to school at UW Bothell. He told me his bike (Trek 720 with Shimano components) was broken and he sent me a photo of his rear derailleur. It was obviously in need of some love. Bothell Ski and Bike (BS&B) is close and we like to support the independent shops, so he took it in. He was told the bike was old and not worth fixing and they would donate it if he wanted. He left the bike at the store and started to look for another. I came to visit and we went into BS&B to see what they had. They had beautiful road and mountain bike specimens but all on the high end, nothing worthy of a student pedaling the Burke-Gilman. My son and I parted company and I returned to BS&B. I told them what had happened and they still had the bike out back. I examined the bike and saw it was indeed a rear derailleur but otherwise the bike was fine (new tires, tubes and chain oh and plenty of scratches so you don't worry about the pretty paint). I took the bike to Performance Bike and spoke with Jabez in service. He looked the bike over without comment, went to the back and returned with two derailleurs, an $11 or $26 Shimano Acera. He inspected the chain and it was in good shape and undamaged. Jabez said, he would need to replace the shifting cable and housing and he would have it done in an hour. My jaw dropped and I asked if he meant in an hour from now or next week? I left with a completely repaired bike for less than $50. I don't like to see high end bike shops take advantage of people who are new to riding, almost as much as new riders who care more about the shininess of the paint than the quality of the components. read more

This is the place you want to go. Due to an accident , I had to buy a new pair of skis. John gave me great advice and helped me to pick new skis. On the first time skiing with the new pair,I had lots of problems and was pretty disappointed.I went back to the store and John said he would work with me and whatever it will take, he will fix the problem, seven take the ski back. He did a tune up on the new ski and the second time I took them out, they worked perfectly. I am so very happy that I went to Bothell Ski, they have great costumer service and are really working for the costumer. Everybody in the store is friendly and make you feel welcome. Years ago I went with my ski boots to fix a fitting problem. Other ski businesses had no clue how to solve the problem of the ill fitting boots , but the guys at Bothell Ski went out of their way and figured out how to make the boot fit better. I truly believe you should write a review when a company and its employees do a fantastic job in getting you set up. I came into the shop three different times to check out bikes for my first major spendy road bike experience. Both John and Gregg were awesome. They listed options, sizes, comfort zones, and technical abilities in each bike. They were not pushy and they set up each bike for a trial so that I can find the right feel and get all the experience I needed to make a decision on my own. Which of course was tough due to the fact I liked multiple bikes and had a hard time deciding. Again, they did not push me into a bike, instead they helped me find my way by asking questions and finding out what would work best for me. After I found the correct bike, they walked me through the entire process of items needs to ride today and items for the future.
