Andy in the mechanic shop took excellent care in fixing both failures which were certainly the result of lengthy use and I couldn't be more pleased with the service and timeliness and kindness and professionalism of everyone in the shop. I bought a Cannondale bike 2 weeks ago, I left it there so I can pick it up later as a Christmas present for my son. I went today and thw bike has a chip paint in the frame. I ask if I cam change it but they told me they are low in inventory. Now I have to give my son a expensive bike with i paint defect. The shop is very clean and well laid out with a variety of items and endless options easily the best helmet selection I've seen at a shop. Amazing bike shop, big selection for everyday items but call before going in if you're looking for very specific items. Smart and knowledgeable staff, advocates for Evergreen MTB Alliance and supporting local trails. Lots of bikes ranging from road to gravel to trail bikes, some at great discounts for previous season's. They're my primary bike shop for consumables like oil or sealant and for things that can't wait. 10/10 would bring my bikes here for rebuilds when needed. Update: brought my shock in because the damper blew out. I opened up the air can for the first time and found the damper head/cap cracked at the bleed port. I was aggressively told it was my fault I broke it trying to open the damper. I didn't even know how to open the air can till this happened, let alone try to open the damper. Seems like they're not interested in doing some work unless they're getting paid. I wouldn't waste my money here if you're looking for customer support after your purchase. read more

I can understand why people like to avoid bike shops - its an odd culture and one where snobbishness and elitism runs rampant. But don't fret, you can be a roadie and go into this shop and still be treated like crap. On my ride out of town on Sunday morning (mid Summer) I stopped by Kirkland Bicycle by looking for a replacement, understanding full well that they probably didn't have it in stock. The place was getting busy with people and when I got to the front of the line, I asked if they had any seat posts in that fit my specific bike. I had come to this shop, because they are a Giant dealer and the seat post is proprietary. The sales clerk goes to the Giant website -clicks around and says its going slow, so he will have to call me back on Monday. "Great" I write down my name, number and tell him to just let me know the cost. Two days go by - I call back (they don't call me) and I explain to the person answering the phone that I came by on Sunday and that someone (not sure who) was going to get back to me on availability and price. He disappears and comes back and without listening to my original question, asks me to repeat the question as he doesn't have any in and that he can call Giant and get back to me later... Awesome job guys - Ill just go some where else. read more

I've been here for parts and service a number of times and the experience has always been great. During the height of the initial COVID surge in 2020 they had a line out the door but they still took in my minor job to swap out some bicycle pedals and did it free of charge! I've just been in again today and they helped me figure out how to install a bike lock mount on a tricky junior-size mountain bike with small frame and again did the install for me for free! I checked their prices on the parts I've bought and they are about the same as REI, etc.., and am glad to give this local outfit my business. read more

I walked in with a bike that had two flat tires, and was in in need of a few minor adjustments, walked out 15 minutes later with a bike that was ready to ride. Turns out that the valve stem one of the tires was broken, so I needed a new tube. The other tire just needed air, but they dismounted both and give them a good check. The price of the 'mechanic' work was super-reasonable, but I did buy a new tire pump and bike lock from them, so I think we're good all around. I needed the pump because my new bike (used, but new to me) has the new style tire valves, and my old tire pump wouldn't handle them. Everybody was very friendly, the prices were good, and as I said up front, I was in and out in no time at all. read more

I came over to this store from Ballard to check out a bike I was interested in. They offered to do a quick fit to make sure the bike I was buying was the right size. They easily could have convinced me that the bike they had in stock was a good fit (I actually thought it would be my ideal size.) Instead, after getting me on their sizing bike, they suggested I go one size bigger. Because of a mistake made by their distributor, they were not able to get me a frame in this size for about a month. What I was impressed by was instead of trying to convince me into settling for a bike they had in stock, they referred me to a competing store that they found out had my size. Even after it was clear they were not going to get the sale on my bike, they were still helpful, attentive, and patient. I really appreciate them caring about getting me on the right bike, and I think this speaks highly of their shop. read more

These guys saved my bacon with a smile today. I had to have my bike off to a shipping company by 4pm today for a charity ride I'm doing out of state in a few days. Last night in the process of cleaning up my bike before the ride and removing the pedals I cranked the wrong way and hopelessly stripped one of my pedal bolts to the point of possibly having damaged the crank. Not good! I called 2 local bike shops I live near and normally go to and they told me no way could they help on a holiday weekend on such short notice. I work near Kirkland Bike Shop and have bought a few supplies there before so I gave them a call. They said no problem, come on over. Their mechanic Tom took my bike as a walk-in, started on it right away and patiently toiled over it for nearly 2 hours, having to dismantle my pedal to get it off the crank. He patiently re-threaded the pedal threads on the crank, tested it on new pedals, gave me some good hands-on advice on several maintenance items and even had time for a few things I forgot to have done before the ride - new brakes, investigated a few issues I was having. All at a really good price, last minute and no attitude for having to fix my stupid mistake. I'm sold and will be coming here for all my future service! read more

Oh My God! These guys are super awesome! I went to a competitor in Redmond who tried to sell me a bike for the same price two years in a row. Only to give me $50 off when the bike was beat up after 25 more rides and tell me if I wanted a new bike to get one so I did but they (Element) never offered to show me theirs. Sadly, I'm an XS so they are the only rental I can find. Kirkland Bicycle rocked my brand new Liv Intrigue out in a couple hours of receiving the shipment from the warehouse. I love this place and have been going here for years. They are good for a great bike conversation, knowledgeable and even offer classes and a fun getaway from life. By far my favorite bike shop! This shop keeps me rolling on the single track. It is where I turn in my bike for a little loving after I have abused it and broken too many parts to continue riding. The mechanics I have worked with have been friendly and helpful and have worked to get me back in the saddle even on short notice-- your bike only breaks riiight before the fun trips, right? I have been there a couple times with minor bike issues (squeaking disc brakes, tubeless tire install, etc.), and they've been able to squeeze me in, so that I can be back on my bike right away. Nick was our savior as we tried to transition my daughter out of training wheels. Another bike shop tried to charge me $60 to put training wheels on her new bike, and said I'd have to wait a week to pick up her bike. I came to Kirkland bicycle hoping they could at least provide training wheels sooner. Nick introduced me to the concept of teaching her to ride via "balance bike", something which the other bike place never brought up or mentioned. He simply took the pedals off and explained she would scoot around, learning balance all around, and when she ready he'll happily put the pedals back on for us. After only a week, by girl in cruising around and almost ready for her pedals. She has more confidence, and I only wish balance bikes were around when I was a kid! I bought my bike here and have brought it in for some maintenance in the past, and liked it. More recently I called to get an appointment for a tuning and they were far less than helpful. Refused to book me for a simple tune-up in advance with a 2 week wait period unless I came first with my bike to look at it (the bike is 2 years old, in great shape). The person on the phone would not bend. I would have had to go out of my way to "drop in" to look at my bike just to make an appointment. Terrible personal interaction over the phone, terrible customer service. I'm going elsewhere. read more

We needed a tire repaired on our tandem and got very quick and pleasant service from Joe. He found what had caused the flat, recommended some new equipment and got us on our way. He even came out to the car to help us get the bike's wheels aligned once we had the wheels on the bike, but out of alignment. He explained how to unclip the brakes to make it easier to get the wheels off and on, without making us feel like noobs. read more

I was a walk-in customer and made an appointment to have my brake pads replaced on my bike. I paid a $20 deposit that would count towards my total, and made an appointment to drop off my bike later in the week, and was told that at most it would cost $35 dollars. Later that day I got a call from the shop because they hadn't actually scheduled me, and forgot what I wanted and what day I had scheduled for. When it came time to drop off my bike, my husband took it in because I had to work, and was told that my bike HAD to have a tune up, a wheel aligned and then they could put on new brake pads. They offered to let him call me and see if I wanted that done, and they would wait to hear back. I had just had my bike tuned up less than a year ago, and didn't want anything other than the new brake pads. When my husband called back (less than 2 hours after he dropped the bike off) he was told it was too late and they had already started working on the bike. I ended up being charged $95, and had to I had to point out that I had already paid a $20 deposit. I wish the store had called me for such a huge increase in work and cost instead of telling my husband that my bike needed it. It's not very realistic to expect that he would know or remember what work had been done to my bike. Neither of us will be using Kirkland Bicycle for repairs or maintenance service in the future. read more

I've been there many times for a variety of services, from installing forks to removing stubborn brake rotors from my hubs. Every time, they are very quick, courteous and fairly priced. The most recent experience was equally great. I could not get my rear tubeless tire sealed. I went in expecting to leave the bike for a few days. But Zachary immediately went to work, discovered the problem (an improperly applied rim tape by the factory) and fixed it, all in about 30 min. I was back riding later the same day! All of the staff are great! They are always helpful. I was there once and saw the staff adjust and fix the walker of a little old lady who came in, all for free of course. I strongly recommend them for all of your biking needs. read more

I live in Portland, OR, and I was looking for a 2012 Giant Reign X1 in a Large. Giant was sold out of them, and the closest shop that had one in stock was Kirkland Bicycle, so I made the trip. I came in knowing exactly what I wanted, so the service was terrific. I picked it up, they told me that with a new bike I would get a free tune up and a 1 on 1 maintenance class (Though I doubted I would be back). I rode the bike twice before I noticed a serious issue. The lower linkage slammed into my front derailleur every time my shock bottomed out. This wasn't the shops fault, but an issue with the bike. My buddy and I tried to move the derailleur up, but found that there was nowhere it could go. It either dragged on my chain, or interfered with my linkage travel. My link had 2 deep notches from slamming into the derailleur cage. I was pretty bummed out after spending quite a bit on a new bike, and it was basically un-ride'able. I called and spoke with Matt, the service manager, who was super friendly and assured me that we would figure something out. I told him I would try and get a different derailleur to see if that would fix it, but if not I would be coming up. The derailleur didn't work out, and I made the 3 hour drive up the next weekend. I got into the shop and Matt assured me that he had some ideas to get me rolling again. Fast-forward a couple hours, and her replaced the link that had been damaged, swapped the shock out with a new one, and found a derailleur from one of his floor bikes that worked. He totally dialed in my shock, and then offered to hook me up with a tubeless set-up for "the gas money" it took to drive up. This shop is tops and I would recommend their service to anyone. They totally bent over backwards to make sure I left just as stoked as I was when I first got the bike! read more
