I love this bike shop/market. It's very close to home and has all the goodies I want. ***LOCATION*** Right on Forest Hill ave and Westover Hills blvd. There are parking spots out front, a bus stop, and you can bring your bike inside to shop. ***EXPERIENCE*** I don't come here often, but when I do I usually come for local brews, nightingale ice cream sandwiches, or a bike tune up. I love the little local markets we have all around RVA, and the fact that this one doubles as a bike shop is so cool to me. Their bike shop people are down to earth and really help you with any bike needs/concerns you may have. I'd recommend getting your bike fixed here if you're looking for a place. ***PRICE*** Market goods are a bit on the pricier side (think Whole Foods), but they have local and organic products. And it's always great to support a local shop. I haven't gotten a bike tune up from them in a while, but I remember it feeling like a reasonable price. My partner recently had a chain link replaced and brake tune-up and that came out to $30. ***CONCLUSION*** I love Outpost. It's cute, trendy, and local. It does a beautiful job at combining all things Richmond and bikes under one roof. read more

ZOMG WHAT A FIND. I have a beloved bike I've ridden since 2000. Since 2017, my right knee has been a jackass, so I haven't been able to ride. Got a new knee in February 2020 - just in time for COVID avoidance! - and when I was through the early stage of recovery, my physical therapist had me on a stationary bike in their place. Which meant my beloved, and ignored-for-three-years, bike needed some serious TLC to be rideable again. I hit up some local connections for suggestions on bike shops open during COVID lockdown, and Outpost was recommended since groceries-for-sale made 'em "essential." I took my beloved down there, and the bike repair guru, without even asking, pointed out all the things he wanted to upgrade/fix/spiff-up ... it was like he SAW me, and knew what I was thinking. Got the bike back a week later, in splendid shape, and some great groceries, too, on both trips. OUTSTANDING, interesting wine collection in this place. I could get lost in there. We in Richmond are so lucky to have a resource like Outpost in our city. The products, service, staff and bike mechanics are the best. I purchase my bike related equipment there and have had them service my bike. Recently a tire failed that I had purchased from them within the past year and without any hassle they replaced it with a new one. No questions asked. Everyone is friendly and professional. I don't usually review establishments unless they are above and beyond (one way or the other) and outpost Richmond fits that bill. This establishment is by far the best and most helpful bike shop in Richmond for service, expertise, and friendly group mountain bike rides. We were helped by Simone (apologies if I am misspelling) but all of the staff were very friendly. When shopping for a new mountain bike, he outlined all of the features, pros, cons, and even took us on an amazing ride which helped identify our specific needs as mountain bikers. This will be my one and only bike shop here in Richmond from this point forward. Outpost rocks. Bike shop + convenient grocery pick up stop with friendly employees. We stop here often for craft beer and Nightingale ice cream sandwiches. They have a lot of local food and beverage products. Even some produce. There are parking spaces right out front, they have a loyalty program w/ perks, sometimes they have wine tastings or Nate's Bagels in the store. They also have a section in the front of local gifts if you need to stop in to pick up a nice present. Can't say enough good things. Glad to have Outpost in the neighborhood. read more
