Date of visit: November 24, 2025 I came here as another dealership had indicated that my starter was beginning to go and should be replaced before it failed completely. I made the appointment online and arrived early for the appointment. After a short wait, I met with the service advisor who was very puzzled by my ask stating that "starters did not wear out," and asked me to start the car. We headed out into the garage area and I started the car. He was able to diagnose that the hesitation in the car starting was that it was not a Volkswagen battery and was not "coded" to the car. I confirmed that it was a battery from Advance Auto Parts because of the astronomical battery cost through the dealer. While cheaper, these batteries will wear out sooner as they drain faster because of the lack of "coding." This had never been mentioned to me before. Now I don't know who to trust and while I am grateful for not spending several hundred dollars on something I didn't need, have I been suckered into believing I need a VW battery in less than a year? And why didn't anyone look at my appointment and ask that before I drove 30 minutes to Hales Corners? read more

I recently stopped by my local VW dealership about an issue with the headlights on my 2017 GTI, and I have to say my experience was way better than a lot of the reviews I read beforehand. Going in, I was expecting the worst because people online make it seem like the dealership is terrible, but that wasn't true at all in my case. The staff was friendly right away and took the time to actually look at my headlights and talk through what was going on without brushing me off or trying to upsell anything. Even though it wasn't a major service visit, they still treated it seriously and made sure I understood everything. It felt like they genuinely cared about helping rather than just making money, which is something you don't always expect at a dealership. Honestly, I think a lot of the negative reviews are overblown or don't reflect how they actually treat customers. The Mister wanted to look at a particular VW and we'd always had good experiences at this dealership, so we headed in. Overall, the whole process went really well - no pressure, a professional, knowledgeable staff and no shady business. Our sales rep Mike didn't mess around and presented fair terms and pricing upfront - much appreciated. An added bonus was that the dealership was extremely clean including the customer lounge and restrooms. This matters, because you'll probably be here awhile. Now I know that the car buying process seemingly requires that hours of my time be wasted while paperwork is completed - I understand it but I don't have to like it. Here's where Boucher could step it up. Sure, there were a ton of tv's around - all tuned to sports. Except the large one in the customer lounge, which was filled with the braying jackasses of Fox News. Listening to chuckleheads screech about "fake news" was the soundtrack to my misery. There were a few magazine on offer....oh wait, just "GQ". No charging stations, so I was rapidly losing phone battery along with my will to live. It was one Coors Light away from buying a car from a sports bar. Again, NO complaints at all with the staff and how we were treated. My husband is very happy with his new vehicle!! If you like the VW brand I'd encourage you to check them out. That said, they need to do some work on making it a good experience for everyone, not just dudes. read more

Instead, Troy Fredrick (Boucher's Used Car Manager) insulted me, called me names, and accused me of lying. The service team at Boucher has ALWAYS been a safe bet when I needed to get work done on my car They deliver consistent results in a timely fashion. They give you a heads up for things to keep your eye on and what is top priority. They can easily assess the problem and give you the solution with an estimate in a very timely manner. I sometimes have tried to go a route that will cost me less and these guys always end up having to fish what was wrong anyways. I've learned my lesson. Just go to Boucher! I called up to check on the wait for an oil change if I came in right when they opened and was told that oil changes didn't start til 8. I got in at around 8:15 and the advisor greeted me with a warm welcome and asked if I was the one who had called earlier. By 8:45, I was already paid and on the road. The waiting area is large and clean, and they offer fresh fruit, water, soda, coffee and granola bars. Yeah! Check the website for coupons before you go - I got a free tire rotation and inspection. We have been getting our 2014 Jetta services here since moving to Milwaukee in 2015. They have great service, excellent waiting space, and their drive-home option is helpful for days we know we can't hang around to pick up our car. When it came time to give up my 2005 Saturn Ion in favor of an AWD or 4WD vehicle, my wife (the long-time Jetta fan) convinced me of a VW and with Boucher as our go-to shop, we went there first. Tyler was a fantastic help - he patiently listened to what we wanted (we knew it was likely a Tiguan or an Atlas) and searched the database of certified pre-owned vehicles. We had a short list we made from their website, but Tyler got us narrowed down to test drive 2 cars (one of each) that really hit the mark for what we were looking for as far as certified pre-owned AWD with low mileage and extended warranties. We ended up purchasing a phenomenal 2016 Tiguan that we love. We have an extended warranty (offered through VW for a fee) through 5 years or 107,000 miles. It's worth the money in our mind, considering we intend to pay off the car early. Less 1 star from the credit hits - which another user shared. We got a good rate for the loan, but both our credit scores took a hit from 3 and 4 credit checks. While prepared for it, it stung and we plan to re-finance the loan the minute our credit scores are back up through our bank. read more

I knew my next car would be a Beetle and it would be leased. So when I found exactly the car I wanted on this lot, I leased through a salesman I knew at the sister dealership in Janesville and came here to establish a service relationship. I live downtown on the lakefront, and on the coldest day of the year, had a freak part breakdown that shut the car down cold. I experienced firsthand the quality and value of the service at Boucher Volkswagen Marketplace. They dispatched me to Volkswagen's Roadside Assistance who arranged for someone to come out and tow my car. I never even signed the invoice for the tow, the dealership took care of it. The service center was outstanding. Immaculately clean with a well-stocked snack bar featuring Starbucks coffee, soda and water, granola bars, and fruit which were a welcome treat once I remembered I hadn't eaten all day. Boucher carefully sourced a new part for me that was known to be hardier in cold weather. For the six days it took to receive and install the part, I had a loaner Jetta to drive, again free of charge. They alleviated any concerns I had by thoroughly inspecting my car and so far so good. I would recommend this dealership and service center to anyone who wants to be treated fairly and with honesty. They took exceptional care of me and my car. read more

Buyer Beware!!!!!! I DO NOT recommend buying a vehicle from Boucher Volkswagen. I definitely would not finance with them (VW Credit), no matter how good the interest rate. My experience with Boucher Volkswagen started out great. My salesperson, Nick Imig, was wonderful. All communications with him were professional and were done in a timely manner. He was knowledgeable about the car I wanted, and thoroughly answered all my questions. He also did not use any high-pressure sales tactics. It seemed like everything was being done to ensure I had a positive customer experience. That all changed with Boucher's Finance Department. On April 1st, I test drove the vehicle I wanted and put down a deposit to secure it. I went back on April 8th to complete the purchase agreement and finance contract at a 4.90% interest rate, which had been advertised in the iPacket I received for my vehicle. I have a near perfect credit score, so there was no problem getting this rate. Boucher's representative, Cole Bailey, and myself signed all the documents at the 4.90% interest rate. There were no "yoyo clauses" and the document clearly stated that there was "No Cooling Off" period. Clearly, all paperwork was final. I took delivery of my car that night. Two days later, Cole called saying there was a mistake and I would need to sign a new contract at a higher interest rate (4.99%), which would only add $0.12/month ($5.00 over the life of the loan). I was given no reason for the change, except that his manager told him the rate was supposed to be higher. I questioned this and asked why they did not absorb the difference, since the "mistake" was on their end. Allegedly, "VW does not allow them to do this". It was implied that I had no choice in the matter. Being caught off guard and not thinking, I agreed to him sending new documents, which gave him permission to delete my signatures (I signed electronically) from our original contract. At no point did Cole explain this to me. After having some time to think and review my documentation, I decided to refuse to resign and called back, leaving a message for Cole that Boucher would need to abide by the advertised 4.9% rate and our original contract from April 8th. Eventually, Boucher did offer to pay down the loan with a $70 discount at the 4.90% rate, but I opted not to resign because I was able to get the money to pay off the remaining balance on the car from another source. Whatever their end goal, they have lost a customer. It does not matter how good the sales experience was. Any company willing to break a binding contract is not a place I ever want to do business with again. I will NOT be returning!!! read more

I took my car in to have brakes and a couple of recalls done. I also have a small spot of rust on the rear passenger side quarter panel. The car is a 2012 CC and still falls under the corrosion warranty.1st off, I just want to say the service guys are great as well as the work they do. Over the years I have spent about 3500 in work. I asked if they could look at the corrosion spot which is about the size of half a penny, very small. They did and the service rep told me that it was not within the guidelines to be repaired for free because of road damage ( A rock probably spit up and hit it) But " Road Damage " sounds more menacing. Mind you now the service guys are class acts but the one who made the decision, Matt Larson who is a manager of some sorts and handles the decision if they will cover the corrosion warranty decided that ( Road Damage) null and voids that part of the warranty. I was a bit disappointed and when I picked up my car I asked to speak with him. I could tell just by looking at him he was having nothing of what I wanted to say. He talked a million miles an hour and over me. My dad told me, you have two ears and one mouth so you should listen twice as much as you talk! Anyways I expressed how I felt it should be covered because it truly is rusting, ( Road Damage) Matt keeps regurgitating. I have purchased 4 VW's from EVS over the years and the car in question is the last one that I bought there because of guys like Matt Larson. My son turns 16 in Jan and he is getting the car in question and I will be getting another VW. I expressed that to Matt Larson and said why would I buy from you if you wont take care of me. He said that it would cost them 800$ and that Boucher would not cover that. I told him he is not thinking long game here and he said, how do I know you will be buying a car from us? Really!! I have been going to Boucher VW for the last 4 years with my service needs since EVS treated me poorly and he had the audacity to question my honesty? In closing, I think that Matt made a poor business decision when he declined my request especially with the current conditions of the Covid crisis. I'm sure that dealerships are hurting just like the rest of the private sector. I am an operations manager at a bank and have roughly 150 employees that report to me and I always tell them to look big picture and long game, not everything is one size fits all and we have to make common sense business decision for the best long term outcome. I was charged over $700 just for a diagnosis That was wrong. Told me I needed new cylinder and head amongst other issues. I was quoted $6000 + for repair.I brought my Passat to Jim's Bug Center in Waukesha. He did exact diagnosis and found nothing wrong with head and cylinder. The cylinder one misfire was due to fuel injector. I had him replace all of them. Car runs absolutely perfect and it "only" cost $1300 for everything. NEVER go to Boucher for engine work. I feel totally ripped off and lied to. And worst of all, I'm out over $700 for nothing. read more

Avoid the service department here at all costs. They will lie to you on the phone, then lie to your face. You will not know until you pick up your car to realize how crooked they are. They claim they have Master VW mechanics, but they are really just parts changers. If the check engine light is not on and the computer does not tell them what part to replace, they are not capable of fixing uour car. read more

I have a 2014 Passat that I absolutely love! While I did not purchase from Boucher I have since relocated to the area and they're my go to for all my maintenance needs. I've personally never had any issues with this vehicle that I've owned for about two years now. I come here for my oil changes and routine checks. They're always extremely friendly, they do a great job at inspecting the car and if anything comes up they discuss it with you. I've only needed an extra thing once but I see how they interact with all their customers. They do have a children's area with a table, toys and a tv with cartoons going. The main area has nice comfortable chairs with a wide magazine selection and a mini bar with lots of drink options. They also have a Starbucks coffee bar area with snacks and fruits too. Some visits they have popcorn going too- I've always been asked if I want any even if it's not going. The staff is awesome here! Like I said I didn't purchase from here so I cannot speak for the sales department but they usually smile and say hello when I come in. They take pride in this location and you can tell, it shows! The parts department is very knowledgeable. I've needed or wanted certain things and they either have it or he can get it real quick. Little selection of VW merchandise too. Checking out is always a breeze, those two girls are always friendly too. After the servicing is completed they even wash the car. It's the little things that add up in the end combined with the friendly staff that'll keep me coming back! They're worth the drive. read more

I purchased my vehicle in September 2014. 2014 Jetta Sportwagen TDI. I was hesitant because of terrible experiences of friends with VWs in general. But I drove it, loved it and bought it. The sales experience was great, Justin was the salesperson. The purchase experience wasn't so great in that the finance person was really pushy about extras to purchase. I had a weird situation occur with the sunroof and screen where it was opening and closing on its own. Took it in for service and nothing. They said they couldn't duplicate it. Hasn't happened since. A little nervous that this will be a sign of what's to come. At 7000 miles I noticed a bulge in my right passenger side front tire. Took it in, was told I hit something (pothole more than likely) and paid $200 for a new tire. Ouch. At 8900 miles (6 weeks later) I noticed another bulge in my driver side front tire. This time I KNOW I didn't hit anything. I took it in, pissed. They gave me a rental and the "sales manager" Jamie told me he would talk to his tire rep from VW on Monday about good willing the tire. The service guy Dustin said he would file a claim with Continental (the terrible tires on this vehicle). Monday comes, Dustin calls, he filed a claim with Continental and it was denied, said the test they did shows evidence of damage to the tire (i.e. I hit something). I asked to talk to the manager and was transferred to Dave. Dave says I'll have to pay for the tire but he can pick up the mounting and balancing. Not good enough so I asked to talk to someone higher up. I get Pat the General Manager. We go round and round. He brings up his wife and how she has road hazard insurance. Really? Would you have brought this up if I was a man? I bring up the statement that Jamie made about talking to the VW rep about good willing the tire and am told Jamie can't make that decision he was covering for the manager (since it was Saturday when I was in there). Pat says he can't keep replacing tires for me. Oh, wait, you mean the ones I keep paying for? So I finally get him to agree to pick up half the cost of the new tire. Come to find out at check out that I paid a "deductible". Hmmm, seems questionable to me. Did the dealer even really pay anything toward the new tire? One will never know. Friday of the same week the tire sensor lights come on. I bring it in again (having to cancel an out of state trip) and am told that because it was warm they are overinflated. I mean, come on, it wasn't that much of a temperature swing. Dave, the "service manager" went on to point out damage to my rims. Okay, you mean the damage that was already there? Thanks. I was treated poorly and talked to like an idiot. I have learned my lesson and I will never be back there again. I'll find another go to VW dealer to service my car (which is under still warranty). I wouldn't recommend this dealer to anyone. Once they make the sale they don't go to bat for you when something goes wrong with the car. DISCLAIMER: This dealer does have an awesome, clean, waiting room with snacks and a big TV. That doesn't make up for the crap service. read more

This dealership by far the worst service in the sales department I have ever experienced. I went in to purchase a used vehicle and when negotiating the price we came to an agreement that a "scuff" had to be fixed and I told them it had to be fixed properly. whenI came to pick it up it was "fixed with touch-up paint. TERRIBLY touched up... Then i get in and the gas gauge is at 1/4 full. So after all that he wouldnt budge on the gas and filling up the tank... AND I had to bring it in again to get it fixed. I purchased a 2010 GTI from Boucher in late May and had a great experience with a salesperson named Nick Rowe. I found the car on AutoTrader and came from Cleveland, Ohio to purchase it. I started out in a chat on AutoTrader and eventually moved things to e-mail and phone. Nick was always kind, helpful, quick to respond, and willing to find out the answer to anything he couldn't answer himself. He was even able to hold the car for a few weeks as I was unable to get there due to work. Ryan Semerau handled all of the financial aspects, but I understand that he isn't there anymore. That's unfortunate, because I thought he was great. He wasn't pushy about anything and he answered every one of my questions honestly, clearly, and fully. He did so even when he knew I might not love the answer. Nick helped me out by picking me up from the airport. The car was ready for me when we arrived, as one would expect. The exterior and interior were quite clean, though I think they could have done a better job cleaning the gauges and screens (it looked as though it had been done with a dirty cloth). I never thought I would write a positive experience about buying a car and yet here we are. When it was time to look at getting a new car because my old was costing more per year to maintain than a new one would, I began the arduous process of looking into what I wanted. I test drove a few models and decided on a Volkswagen. My old car had been a Jetta so it was an easy decision. I knew I wanted the hatchback and a manual transmission. In 2016, I test drove a used Golf at City Volkswagen and has such a negative experience with the salesperson that I walked away from the vehicle. I decided I would look again in the summer of 2017. Flash forward to now and I struggled to find what I was looking for in northern Illinois. However, I found 3 hatchbacks with manual transmissions near Milwaukee. So, I took the drive up on a Monday night to check out the vehicles. Well, I didn't have to go to too many places because I went to Boucher first. Not only did this vehicle have all the bells and whistles that I was hoping for, but my salesperson Justin was extraordinarily helpful in making sure that the deal we made was beneficial for both parties. He was even able to beat the price of the other vehicles I planned to look at. More importantly, I didn't feel like he was playing a mind game with me. He asked what it would take to get me to drive home in the car, I told him and he was able to deliver. Beyond that, I worked with Brian the finance guy who was not only very kind but not at all pushy. He provided information and didn't pull any of the "because of [whatever}, I'd recommend...." He gave me the options and let me make a well informed decision based on those options. They were both kind enough to stay late and get everything worked out and show me about the features of my new car. They were also super personable, funny, and kind. A+++ guys. I drove an hour and a half to see a vehicle, with money in hand. Found the exact model and color I was looking for, not to mention its Certified Pre-Owned! SCORE!!!! ..Not quite.. I went through all the trouble of getting a loan, finding a ride, and driving almost 2 hours to look at said car with full intentions to buy right at opening time. This is where I'm glad I did my research into these cars, the CPO program, and brought an auto body tech with me. As I started walking around the car the salesman (Nick) started immediately trying to get me to taker it on a test drive, I'm not sure if he didn't want me to inspect as closely as I was at the moment. Regardless I gave him my ID to copy and took the car about a mile or so down the road, turned around and drove to a nearby parking lot to inspect the car with no interruptions. I opened all doors, trunk, and hood. CPO vehicles are supposed to have NO VISIBLE DAMAGE, essentially a re-certified almost NEW vehicle. There was paint missing all the way up the edge on both drivers side doors, there was many 1-2 inch long deep scratches that you could sink your fingernail into all over the car, the front bumper's lip was creased in at least 2 spots and there was damaged paint all the way along the front edge, the passenger side had 4+ dents and there was paint missing from the center of most of them, the chrome/silver trim under the window on the drivers side front door was clawed to the point that it looked sanded with 80 grit sandpaper, the interior looked like wolverine drove it because there were deep scratches all over the door handle and the steering wheel was severely worn for a vehicle that was supposed to show no apparent wear, the headliner had sweat stains or coffee all over it, the tail light on the drivers side has moisture inside, the passenger side headlight has a chip out of the center of it, the rear bumper had severe scuffing all the way across the trunk opening from sliding cargo in and out of the trunk, there were various other scratches and a good amount of swirling all over from the roof to anywhere else you wanted to look closely at.. My point is after reviewing the CPO list by VW again I realized that the tech obviously and very blatantly lied to get this car CPO certified. I asked to have the cost reduced since I would have to get the cars finish refreshed including a serious buff and have a few panels re-sprayed, new headlight or a repair, new drivers door panel, get the window tint removed because of the bubbles and wonky cuts, get a new taillight, new front bumper, etc.. Mr. Nick says he will find out what they can do but "you need to expect this type of damage to a used vehicle" Obviously glossing over the fact that they lied on over 7 points of a CPO checklist to get a vehicle certified that was not eligible. Nick tells me that "this car will sell to someone who doesn't take care of their cars near as well as (me) and they will be thrilled because they "think" it will be a great deal." That line really stuck with me about how Boucher must work as a company.. Makes you think that he pretty much agrees it is too much but its okay because some poor sucker will buy it anyway. He also offered to see if the dealer would be willing to improperly repair the scratches by just blending the clear to fix the finish and that's when my friend inquired about de-lamination from the different clear coats and asked if I get any additional paint warranty for that and Nick said no. He also said they might be able to get the dents out that are lower in the doors but not the ones on the body lines because those are "tricky". Now, that is true, but they should have a capable tech for this. Anyway, Nick comes back and gives me the story that they have more into the car than what its posted for online so that's the bottom dollar (another lie I found a cheaper ad online after) and I left with nothing but $15k in my hand. Do not trust the CPO and do not trust Nick especially. He didn't even smile at me until the end when he told me that "I hope it works out for you next time" yikes.. Worst car dealership I've ever done business with. Bought 2 vehicles from them. Both Jetta TDIs (that btw had to be bought back; not the fault of the dealership but you would think would spring you into action to take extra care of your customers that had to go through their vehicles being bought back by manufacturer because they can't pass an emission test...) I had to cut this because the list of their incompetence is too long. Please see the photos for my experience. This process started on October 8th when I turned my car in. I went through International Volkswagen to turn in the car because it is closer (and now because they know what they are doing). I immediately called Boucher VW Franklin to see if I should go down to their dealership to handle my refund. I talked to my sales rep who said I needed to talk to the finance department. I called several times and I left messages for the Finance Manager, Nick, who never returned my phone calls. On the 10th I called and got him. He told me my paperwork was not at the dealership and to do this over the phone he would need to get that paperwork. So I waited another 2 days and heard nothing. I called again on the 12th, now reasonably upset that to get a simple refund that is done every day, I needed to call 5 times. Unfortunately this was just the beginning... I spoke to Pat Easterlin, the General Manager, and told him about the struggle I was having with nobody getting back to me. He informed me the Nick was new in finance and "didn't really know what he's doing yet" (I did finance for a car dealership for 10 years. Definitely NOT the position to be in if you don't know what you are doing. There are MAJOR legal penalties and laws that go along with certain aspects of performing that job incorrectly due to the access to people's information. There should never be an employee touching that paperwork the doesn't know EXACTLY what the are doing). So after talking to the general manager, he said the paperwork should be coming through. A week goes by... I finally get an email on Oct 25th. It's my service contract... I don't need my service contract!!! I am cancelling it. I need a cancellation form!!! So I call up the company who issued the contract down in Florida, JM&A. They were helpful but unfortunately had to point me back to the dealership because they have to handle this refund. So I call in again so state what I need (which anyone with a clue what they are doing would have known). I get a different guy. Phillip Bergman. Sends me an email. (All Caps, no signature line with a title. Professional... Was he yelling through email because I was mad every employee I worked with at his dealership was incompetent? at least he finally gets me this form I need). I send it back. I don't get a confirmation it was submitted. Nothing. I email back Phillip Bergman on Nov 9th to try to confirm or get a status update. Nothing. So on Nov 13th I call down to JM&A again. They tell me yes my cancellation has been accepted and the check was send to Boucher in their October statement. I need to talk to their accounting department to get my check. I call and ask for accounting. Back to Nick. Awesome!!! Nick tells me they don't get separate checks for each claim. They only get money 2 times a month. I inform him "JM&A sent this refund on their October Statement so it should be in there a account. Have they sent it to me yet?" Says he doesn't know but will find out. Takes my number again. Two more days go by. No call, no voicemail. I call back again. It's the 15th. He's not in today. I ask for the General Manager. I get Mike. I tell Mike the story how Nick yet again has failed to call me back. Told him JM&A already issued them my money on the October statement. He is silent on the other end. Finally... "so what?" I said "where is my money?" He says, I don't know, I have no idea what goes on with the accounting side". I say aren't you the General Manager, that's who I asked for? Should I just go to the Better Business Bureau?" He says "Well this takes 4-6 weeks" I said, "we are there... and I know you have already been issued my money in October. Is it everybody's first day?" Now he says, "well if you are going to insult me." As say "it's well deserved at this point. F$&k you guys then" and hung up. Honestly. That's a list of 4 completely incompetent people including the General Manager, and a Finance Manager who was proclaimed by his own boss to not know what he is doing. I've never dealt with that many incompetent people in my life doing any kind of business. I understand 1 person or even 2 but when you elevate the issue only to find yet another person with no clue, that's just ridiculous. read more

DUPED! We talked with a salesperson today named Joe about a car we were interested in. After an hour or so my wife and I just couldn't go for the haggled price you go through. Joe is a nice guy and very nice to talk with, but we couldn't afford the price...thanked Joe and left. Five hours later Joe called me with a price we agreed on. We drove an hour back to sign the paperwork only to find the price had went up $19 because of blah blah blah. My wife and I walked out of the finance office to discuss. I felt incredibly duped and the finance guy comes back out saying it's now $11 more than my agreed phone conversation with Joe. Do we bend over and take getting duped after driving an hour or just leave? We bent over and agreed to the change. Please be aware that this may happen to you. I went from loving Joe the salesperson, and was going to leave a great review about him, but after getting duped and not standing up to his finance guy saying we agreed on "x" price I can't. In my life I have had the salesperson say, they agreed to a price you can't change it and the finance team made it happen.Not at that place I guess. read more
