I visited Boudin during lunch time! It wasn't too packed when I got there, and there was ample of seating. I liked how they had the self service kiosk, or the option to order with a cashier. I opted for the self serve kiosk so that I can check out the menu a bit more detailed without feeling rushed. Food was delicious! The portions were large. I felt like you could definitely share an entree as they are pretty big. The soup was super cheesy and thick! I would scoop some up and a string of cheese would come behind it. I do wish it was a bit thinner, but it was tasty! I felt that the veggie sandwich was pretty basic. I wish they used different bread than your typical sliced. I can't believe it's taken me this long to write this review! I'm pretty sure their new competition moving in reminded me of just how terrible this place is despite living less than 2 miles away. The customer service is consistently horrendous. The staff refuses make eye contact with guests, won't acknowledge people, scoff in disgust at outlandish questions like "can I have a napkin"? And our order is frequently wrong or missing items. It's been a while since the most egregious incident that no management ever cared to follow up on, so time to write it in stone on the internet! I placed a mobile order and go to pick it up and it's sitting right there. There is a sign that tells you not to take bags; you have to wait for the expeditor or counter person to help you... but they refuse to look at you! The counter gal helped a few guests and then just turned her back to the restaurant and started faux tidying of the bread shelves. Expeditor won't look at me either. I stand there for several minutes. Everyone else has been helped. I finally say something about it and politely suggest they need to find better systems for expediting orders if they aren't going to let guests get their prepared order and start to leave. At that point, some snotty teenager shouts "well then maybe you just shouldn't come back!" UHHH, EXCUSE ME!?! Turn around to confront that disgraceful service and she ran away. Called store and corporate management about the incident and they never contacted me! Apparently they don't want my business anymore! First time to this Boudin SF location in all my time living in Santa Rosa. The traffic in the mall location can be a deterrent. Service was quick and welcoming. I ordered the sausage pepperoni pizza minus the onions and peppers, a small strawberry shake, and a mini banana chocolate chip loaf. The shake was a bit pricey for a 12 oz cup (I'm sure it's on par with any other restaurant)but it was legitimately good and not your typical fast food machine dispensed shakes with fake ingredients and chemicals. It was smooth, creamy and had a great strawberry flavor. The pizza was loaded with pepperoni and sausage (maybe a bit too much sausage) but was well enjoyed. The mini loaf was delish. Disappointing. We ordered the French Dip sandwich, both of which were mediocre and lukewarm, a result of sitting on the pass for a couple minutes. We often order French Dip in sandwich places, this was well below what we usually see. We also had the spicy ranch fries (which were sent back because the bowl sat on the pass, not under the heat lamp, for a couple minutes), which were also mediocre. To their credit, they did replace without comment beyond a brief apology when the new bowl showed up. For about $1.50 more, there is a bit of ranch dressing, with some red pepper flakes mixed in, sprinkled over the fries. I am guess ing a well-margined item - a couple cents of dressing for the additional charge. read more

Overall pretty good. Ordering is a bit difficult for the visually challenged. But once at cashier they were quite helpful. I felt that the cups are very small and flimsy,but the sandwich I got was very good. It was a veggie sandwich, I loved it,.my friend had French dip and she enjoyed it. The patio is nice looking but a bit grimy and I kind of felt that way about the entire place. Not cluttered just dingy. I will probably go back...hopefully will be a bit cleaner. The place had aged. The pizza dough was overproofed and flat and super chewy to the point it actually hurt my jaw. The pizza was also very small for the price. I know inflation is wild now but I've had frozen personal pizzas that were bigger and better for that matter. The mac n cheese tasted pretty good but was so runny it was more like a noodle soup but the brisket on top was tasty. And it came with a roll that was stale. Overall not a great meal and definitely wasn't cheap. Also I ordered on yelp and didn't get any email/text or notification that my order was done. I happened to open the app and check and found that it was done but it would be nice to be notified. I got an email saying that they received the order, and that was it. We love Boudin bread. It's the only sourdough bread I buy. I come here at least once a week and they tend to sell out of the large round by the time I get off work, so I always end up getting the a couple smaller rounds. I have them slice the bread. I always have to buy a turtle for my daughter when they have it. The cinnamon bread is so addictive when it's warmed up. I like to do the family meal deals, 4 sandwiches, 4 bread bowls with soup and 4 cookies. The only downside to the meal deals, is you can't modify the sandwiches or select a sandwich outside of the options they give you. The salads are good too. The raspberry bar is delicious. During the holiday season, you need to order the bread rolls in advance, they do sell out. read more
