The pizza dough was overproofed and flat and super chewy to the point it actually hurt my jaw. The pizza was also very small for the price. I know inflation is wild now but I've had frozen personal pizzas that were bigger and better for that matter. The mac n cheese tasted pretty good but was so runny it was more like a noodle soup but the brisket on top was tasty. And it came with a roll that was stale. Overall not a great meal and definitely wasn't cheap. Also I ordered on yelp and didn't get any email/text or notification that my order was done. I happened to open the app and check and found that it was done but it would be nice to be notified. I got an email saying that they received the order, and that was it. You can get their famous sourdough bread in the shape of a large crab or turtle which is so much fun. They even have a baby turtle character that the kids love. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered food via DoorDash from this location. When it arrived, I found a dead bug in my closed container. I thought maybe it was just an unfortunate (but disgusting) accident. Things happen, I get it. Today, I gave them another shot. I was halfway through my sandwich when I pulled a long, black hair out of my mouth. Absolutely foul. Sadly, since Mombo's Santa Rosa closed, pizza from local, non-chain providers has been a decidedly mixed bag for my wife and me. Crusts with too much substance, too little flavor, or too many burnt spots from ovens inconsistently monitored, cleaned, or both. Sauce that's too acidic or too sweet. Insipid toppings inattentively applied. And our favorite, pizza that's great the first time we order from a place, but maddeningly disappointing afterwards. It was all enough to get us to consider just not ordering local delivery pizza anymore. Better to make it at home. But we love sourdough bread. Especially Boudin sourdough bread. And we'd enjoyed food delivered from Boudin Montgomery Village before. So when that worthy outlet started making "Papa Steve's Sourdough Pizzas" available for delivery, we took a deep, hopeful breath and ordered one. You should, too. Soon. And often. And maybe more than one. Delicious, apparently high-quality toppings, as befits the quality of the crust. A crust that meets, if not exceeds, the quality level set by Boudin's core offerings and legacy. It doesn't try to mimic New York, New Haven, Chicago, Detroit, Rome, or Naples. It's a crust only Team Boudin could make. The toppings on our first one could have been distributed more evenly and, in the case of the sausage, applied more generously. First time eating here, a long with my 20 year old son. We ordered the French Dip deluxe, the 9" combo pizza, the patty melt & the crab macaroni and cheese to sample together. My son loved the crab Mac & cheese the best, followed closely by the patty melt. I thought the pizza had the most flavorful ingredients I've had on ANY pizza in years! The parmesan grilled into the bread was delicious! The only disappointment was the French dip deluxe. It was quite a lot to eat, but the Au Jus was either watered down or just had no flavor whatsoever. The meat was also almost tasteless. I would not order it again. The staff working there were great and very helpful when I asked for some salad dressing that wasn't available anywhere for my side salad. We also bought 3 cans of chowder and a loaf of sourdough to take home. Overall, with 2 soda fountain drinks, the bill was about $70. As a Bay Area native and someone who delivers food part time, I don't think you can beat Boudin's for the quality of food and the organization it provides for to-go food. It's hard for me to believe someone would order fast food delivered luke warm over a nice fresh Boudin sandwich, salad, or beverage. They are very good at separating a cold shake from a hot pizza. The predicament is caused mainly by the dearth of decent sushi joints in Santa Rosa. When in the mood for a sandwich, Boudin SF (Santa Rosa) imo beats any of the lackluster, laughable and unimaginative sushi bars with names like "I Love Sushi", "Sushi or Shouldn't She" or other namesakes that are sprouting all over the place. Sorry I digressed. After being fed with yucky food during my entire hospitalization, I craved classic comfort food with tender yet crunchy clams, creamy potatoes and dairy. Boudin's Clam Chowder New England style sounded like an instant winner. Their version was more San Franciscan, serving up chowder in a bowl of sourdough ($7.99) making it more West coasty than East. Wow! The hardened bread crust was sour and chewy, the broth so delicious, so thick and creamy with a distinctive hint of brininess that was absolutely life affirming. Not quite sure why Boudin didn't sprinkle bacon bits to enhance the taste when they did have them. Adding a little more texture and smoky lusciousness, bacon bits would for sure further tantalize your taste buds! (4/5) Wifey has never been a big fan of sandwiches but she goes bananas every time she sees Chicken Salad Sandwich (Sandwich with chip $8.99, side Chowder $3.50). Go figure lol! As I wolfed down my chowder, I was more than curious at what this sando encompassed, as I know she makes a mean chicken salad at home. I was impressed after stealing a bite from her! All the "must have" condiments were there - celery, scallion, sliced almonds, red grapes, lettuce and there weren't anything fusion or outrageous in their recipe. Boudin closely kept the sandwich the old fashioned way just the way she liked it with me included. (4/5) Finally, we shared a Millionaire BLTA and were boggled by the name "millionaire" if nothing else ($13.89)! Typically, BLT is way too pedestrian to arouse eagerness and excitement. However, let the bacon speak for itself. They were not puny strips of bacon but thick cut caramelized bacon with a brownish sweet, black and cayenne pepper rub. There were of course the BLT essentials, the crisp iceberg lettuce, sliced avocado and tomatoes, creamy mayo on toasted classic sourdough bread. What else can I say but YUM! (5/5) Wifey has over the years turned me on to Asian eats and I regrettably neglected sandwiches for a while. As a result, and in all honesty, I did enjoy Boudin at least for old time sake although sandwich nitpickers and connoisseurs among you may find Boudin commonplace with nada to brag about. read more

We came here today for the first time. We waited outside near the door until they opened at 10am. At the register as I started to order, the young woman in a black shirt said: " We open at 10". I looked at her puzzled as I knew they opened at 10 and it was 10:05 when I was at the register. I said that I'm aware they open at 10 but that we wanted to be first in because we wanted to get a table away from other people, still nervous about eating in.(we are older and my friend has COPD, so we have to be careful). She continued to say that I should not have been in front of the door and should have waited to the side so that they can open the door. I started getting befuddled as it felt she was berating me like a child - I'm 64 years old. I said that I did step aside as soon as they opened the doors. She for some reason wanted to continue educating me and said that they cannot open the doors if I'm standing there. By now I'm getting upset and asked if we can please drop this so that I can continue to order I asked for her name, but she declined to tell me do I asked for the manager She tried to get her word in before I did, and the manager was friendly, and said he would talk to her. Later I saw the 2 laughing and joking, but whatever. When the manager brought the food, I again told him that cashiers conduct was rude, unprofessional, disrespectful and condescending and that it left us sitting there in disbelief. He said that other people had been knocking on the door for the last half hour before opening so the cashier of was just annoyed. That had nothing to do with me, because those people were at the door before I even got there, and I never knocked since I knew they did not open till 10, so I'm not sure why he used that excuse for her behavior. We ended up boxing up our food and left. Never again! That is not how you allow your employees to act and treat customers. It was the attitude and her refusal to drop the subject after she already berated me, is the part that got me the most. Unprofessional disrespectful and untrained staff. In all of my many years of restaurant eating, I have never seen and experienced such unbelievably poor treatment ever. I don't like giving bad reviews, but this place deserves an honorable mention. The food was ready pretty quickly from the kitchen but the counter staff were so lazy that it sat on the counter for quite sometime before they turned around to bag it and hand it to me. Boudin is a wonderful place to get sandwiches and soups but they also have a pretty full menu ranging from salads to burgers pizzas and more. The food is absolutely delicious, five stars for the food. The only thing that you would want to keep in mind when going to this location is the cleanliness. The bathrooms are disgusting and I would imagine that the kitchen probably has some cleanliness issues. The seating area is also pretty well slimed. I've always liked Boudin for their bread, and have had some good dinner items there, but after yet another botched order from this outlet I've had enough. I can't say how many times we've gotten to-go orders from this place that have been wrong in one or more ways! Tonight was another in a long line of disappointments with an order of a "Deluxe French Dip" sandwich ending up getting home only to find out it was listed as a "Deluxe Beef Sandwich" on the receipt and there was no au jus. I don't know if a Deluxe Beef Sandwich is supposed to be the same as a Deluxe French Dip, but either way the order showed exactly what I wanted, and it's once again not what I got. I would have checked the order before leaving but my stepson went to pick it up and, having been screwed by them before, he should have known enough to check it, but he didn't. However, it shouldn't be our responsibility to make sure our order is correct; the restaurant should just get it right! Boudin Montgomery Village seems to blow this simple responsibility almost every time. What's worse is that, upon finding out the order was wrong again, I called twice, letting the phone ring and ring and ring... and no one answered. Attempts to find a way to complain online met with total frustration as well. Chipotle Coddingtown has goofed up orders a couple times on us, but they not only took care of it quickly and easily, they made it better for the inconvenience. It seems Boudin doesn't care if they get my money, so I don't care to give them any more of it. I can't imagine what kind of horrible working conditions, oppressive leadership, suspect hiring practices or other failures might be combining to assure such consistent lack of quality control at this place, but I won't be experiencing it any longer myself because from now on the only time I'll be going there is to pick up my free monthly load of great sourdough. I have been a friend and customer of Boudin since it opened. I have always been happy with the food and décor, and I almost always ate in the restaurant. However, today, I was very frustrated when it came to ordering on the website. The website navigation sucks! The photography is beautiful and realistic, and the food is delicious, but attempting to order a soup, a sandwich, and another item was a nightmare. How many of the people attempting to order on the website of their 25 stores have abandoned their effort (hint: check your data analytics) or just had the overall meal experience degraded and reduces repeat business? It took a long time to figure out where the specific soup I wanted was located on the site. The sandwich I wanted and had many times was near impossible to locate because they have two sections for sandwiches and made me hunt. Trying to specify what came with each was a nightmare and involved ordering, then deleting from the cart, then adding again, then trying to figure out whether it worked or not. My recommendation to management is to have some serious auditing done of the online order process by professionals who don't work for the company. And I know for a fact that this issue has been reported many times. Take-out food is a huge part of their sales, and if you lose only ten customers a week (it would be a lot more) from each of their 25 stores, that's 15,620 lost customers per year (plus all those who would tell their friends what a pain the website is to use). Multiplying by an average order of $35 takes you to $617,520 annually or about $1,800,000 over the next three years. Getting someone skilled in user experience (UX) and programming to fix this would cost maybe $25,000. Come on, folks! Make it easier for us to give you money!
