    Dirty lettuce

Order 2 jumbo sandwiches for everyone at my job and the lettuce was dirty and they put jalapeños on it so I called to get a refund the lady didn't speak English and was rude hung up on me and took the phone off the hook smh

Turkey, provolone, avocado on a sweet roll. Not bad!

Not sure if I'd buy meat from them, judging the gray color of the chicken breast in their display cabinet. That scares me, but the sandwich was alright. This place is clearly one of those, "I'd better check Yelp, before I go in" kind of places. And we did! We took a chance, given the 4 positive reviews posted. I haven't gotten sick, thus far, so it should be good. It's a little confusing to place an order for a sandwich as there aren't any signs that tell you to take a number. We waited at the counter and a very nice lady took our order. After further investigation, it appears you write down your order at a semi-hidden podium and bring your sandwich ticket to the counter. Overall, the service was divine, and the sandwiches were alright. Warning, they charge $2 for avocado on a sandwich, but they'll sell you a whole avocado at the front "grocery" section for less

    Great deli sandwiches

One the best delis in town for a fresh made sandwich. Kind of the beaten path in a less than attractive store front. But all the way in the back you'll find lots of fresh made salads and yummies. If your in need you can also purchase a fifth of whiskey, motor and some laundry detergent. But seriously one of the best delis- no joke!

So as we were making our way home from Windsor,my buddy told me about this deli that was described…read moreby some as the most authentic deli in the area, which is saying a lot considering how close we were to "wine country" So we decided to stop and at first glance from the outside it doesn't seem like much but once you walk in,you get that feel that your meal is about to be spectacular. The place had all the feels of an authentic Italian deli-I could not wait to get my hands on one of these sandwiches. I was torn between going with my usual at any Italian deli which is just a classic Italian but for some reason,I've been on a tri-tip vibe for a while and I saw they had BBQ tri-tip on the menu so I just went with that-I added pepper jack to my sandwich.($17.94) It wasn't very busy when we ordered so the food didn't take long, maybe a 6 or 7 minute wait and our food was in front of us. This deli is interesting in that they do a lot of stuff in-house including homemade chips and we had some-so tasty-great addition to our meal. They also have a pretty extensive freezer section with homemade pastas and sauces that a customer can take home to prepare at a later date. So let's talk about the BBQ tri-tip sandwich. It's always wonderful when you run into a small business that just truly excels at their craft and I feel Canevari Deli is one of those places. They made this sandwich so well, excellent balance of meat, cheese, bread and condiments. It was a job well done. I'm having really good luck lately of finding amazing restaurants that are out of town and unfortunately Canevaris is one of those places-this is the type of place that if it was near me I would go there every week, the people who live in Santa Rosa are quite lucky to have such a great deli so close to them daily. In closing ,if you find yourself in the Santa Rosa area and you want to help support a true local business, stop by Canevaris and enjoy yourself one of their daily offerings-I'm sure it will be a wonderful experience.

I was having one of those mornings. Mercury Retrograde was kicking my a$$ and I was feeling…read moreoverwhelmed by work chaos. As a Taurus Moon, I felt the need to soothe myself with good food. I decided to treat myself to lunch. But where? As a woman in my mid-40s, I can't eat crazy heavy lunches anymore. A burger would put me to sleep. And it's 90 degrees outside and something like pho just sounds too hot. I saw Marla SR, a bakery with light breakfast and lunch I had been meaning to check out. It was decided, and off I went. When I walked in, I was still discombobulated by my day, and I looked at the menu confused. Luckily the woman behind the counter pointed out that they have a bigger menu on paper. There were many yummy things, but I went with the breakfast sandwich on an english muffin, and a Cafe au Lait. When the sandwich came, it was a thing of beauty. No literally, the plate looked amazing. (See pic) ...This so instantly put me in a good mood. It was served with charred shisito peppers with a yummy aioli with dill. A perfect freshing accompaniment to the peppers and the sandwich. The egg in the sandwich was more fritata like - very light and bouncy with cheese. As I said, amazing that all those ingredients and it felt light! (Which was perfect for me, as specified previously... my middle-aged woman sensibilities have made me... well, what some people would call, picky. But I prefer to say that I'm a grown-a$$ adult that knows herself. :)) And did I mention the cafe au lait was excellent? Great coffee, foamy milk. ...I was even naughty and put a spoon-full of sugar in it and it tasted amazing. As I sat at my table, with light streaming onto the table, and the beautiful plants artistically strewn around the cafe, I felt at home. A woman came around to ask how everything was. I could feel she genuinely wanted to know. Everyone was really nice. And punk was playing overhead, which just fit the day, as well as the core of me. It made me think of when I was a teenager, how much I would have thought it's cool that I'm sitting at a cafe with punk playing overhead. This is one of those places where you can tell that the owner had a vision, and this place is their dream created into reality. (And I just f'ing love that!) So I will say this was quite pricey for a light lunch. But honestly now adays everything is so expensive I'd rather spend on a nice meal like this every once in a while, than a crappy meal out all of the time. And now I know where I can go when I'm having "one of those days". ...I also got some rye bread to bring home (which you can't find easily anymore), and cookies for the hubs. (Or else he'd be jealous) ...I will be back. ----- Update: The rye bread was to die for!!!! This is the best rye bread I have ever had in my life. It was soft, and the rye is almost floral. It's so unique. Will be coming back for more.
