The deli is located in the back of the store. Huge ordering counter with 2 friendly ladies working. They also have cold entrees you can order by the pound to go. I went with the roast beef sandwich. You get to choose the condiments..I got mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions and avocado for an extra charge. I chose sliced wheat bread. They do not skimp on meats here and give you a lot! For a basic sandwich, it was $12.99 so not cheap. The ingredients were not bad but somehow did not taste the freshest especially the lettuce. Doesn't look like much on the outside but being that I'm from the area and use to stop by n buy these big scrumptious deli sandwiches- 10 plus years ago- I wanted to give it another nostalgic try. Looks like they have new owners so I hoping that the quality of the sandwiches stayed the same... What do you know, we got the big size Italian sub on a Dutch crunch and man it was packin'. It had everything on it, some type of secret Italian balsamic that just drips and compliments your sandwich. Every bite is filled with the authentic deli meats and fresh veggies. I've been going to this store periodically over the last year. I'm a traveling nurse and I first started coming here because it is close to the hotel where I was staying. I always read Yelp reviews for businesses I patronize just to be safe and find out if there will be potential problems. I read all the reviews for this business and was surprised to read the negative comments. Over time and many subsequent visits I found that the some of the reviews were old and couldn't be relied upon to reflect the current state of the business. And I came to believe that people who wrote those older comments and the more recent ones were likely angry hypercritical types that enjoy trashing a business for whatever personal reasons they might have. My own experiences were consistently positive over the last 12 months and now that I'm leaving to another job location I wanted to do another review to summarize my experiences here. First, this is a convenience store, not unlike 7-11 which sustains itself on liquor and cigarette sales, so if you have a problem with that you probably shouldn't come here. It's never going to score high for "ambiance" and it's not really a family store though it is not unfriendly to families as far as I can tell. This appears to be a family run business and run by what has appeared to me as a hard working family. Second, unlike 7-11 and other chain stores this store has a personality and they seem to care about the appearance of the store and about keeping things stocked and organized properly. The drinks I bought, mostly Fanta Strawberry, Gingerale, and sparkling water were always cold which tells me they regularly stick their refrigerated drinks. Also they keep a really nice variety of drinks including sparkling water, still water, vitamin water, and a pretty wide variety of name brand sodas (both diet and regular). I never bought any alcohol containing products but that stock also appeared to offer a nice set of options. The takeaway here is that this isn't your local, sleazy cheap beer and tobacco stores with unseemly characters hanging out. Third, their deli became my "go to" place for sandwiches. They always have a wide variety of quality deli meats and pre-cooked meals with daily specials too. The sandwiches are far superior to Subway or 7-11. Their meats, nice selection of fresh breads, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, etc. we're always fresh and they will make the sandwich however you like it. I never once had any issues with the quality of their food. They also always have potato salads, chicken salad, breakfast burritos, and more, again, always fresh and tasty. They also have a selection of ice creams, frozen foods, even a small selection of fruits and vegetables. Fourth, the people who work the store actually seem concerned about satisfying their customers. Every time I went here I was treated respectfully and given service immediately. And I mean service with a smile. These folks aren't low wage, negligent employees you sometimes meet in chain convenience stores. These people are old fashioned merchants who understand customer service and take pride in their work. I also observed that they appear to have nice relationships with what I assumed were regular customers. I never saw anyone ignored or mistreated during any of my visits. (of course their prices are higher as in any convenience store but I would expect people to know that). Fifth, they have a small but quite adequate parking lot and it's easy to get right back on the road once you've made your purchases. Easy in, easy out. No hassles. My advice would be to ignore the bad reviews or at least put them in perspective. This is the kind of old fashioned local shops that I wish every neighborhood had. We customers need to support local businesses like this one so they will continue to serve the community and not get replaced by one of those impersonal chain stores. The quality of sandwich and customer service has sure gone down. new employees are rude and don't seem to know how to make a good sandwich,really sad that the neighborhood lunch spot has apparently changed management to someone who can't understand English But knows how to roll his eyes. go back to the sourdough and co buddy! ive been living by this Deli sense i was born, my father started taking me here when i was about 8, i remember back then they used to have Calzones and id get that for a few years till it got removed, after those stopped i started ordering the subs. the sandwiches are great! I've been going here for about 24 years a sub, soda, and some chips for lunch, the store part would always have the radio playing thru the store speakers always catchy tunes playing in there most of the time (in my opinion of course) the AC also helps in the heat, always a good time stopping in :) read more

One the best delis in town for a fresh made sandwich. Kind of the beaten path in a less than attractive store front. But all the way in the back you'll find lots of fresh made salads and yummies. Steve-O's is a great little deli in the back of Ray's. They make great sandwiches and have rotating daily specials. They also sell a nice variety of meats and cheeses. I have bought their potato salad for a BBQ and my guests had nothing but good things to say about it. The staff is friendly and willing to give meat and cheese samples upon requests. Witnessed this establishment sell alcohol to a very intoxicated man. It was so incredibly in appropriate I debated as to whether or not call whoever it is who hands out their liquor license to them! So irresponsible! Then the man walked out of the store, stumbling... dropped the contents of his wallet everywhere... other patrons went to help him... and then he fell over on the benches at the delis parking lot. Been going to Steve-o's for more than 35 years. My favorite deli! Never disappoints! Used to work at Optical Coating, it was the best place to go for a half hour lunch. Your sandwich was always ready quickly. Still had time to eat outside at the picnic tables. Great place! read more

This place isnt to far from where I live. It's a bit shady looking from the outside but its fine. Nice little corner market with pretty much anything you need. The deli is where its at though. My opinion it's a hidden sandwich gem in Santa Rosa. Regular or jumbo sizes, fresh meat, real bacon, nice produce.
