We've used Boulder Garage Door for years to maintain our two 35 year-old wooden overhead doors and have seen consistently professional, courteous expert service. We had, unfortunately, experienced a couple of other firms which, by far, did not measure up to BGD. Yesterday, Justin Parker was dispatched to address a difficult warranty issue and, as an ex-project engineer, I was very impressed with his focus, organization, and sound problem solving skills. He was patient with the many questions I had and went out of his way to show me exactly what the problem areas were and how, longer term, we would need to replace certain components. Please read all of this and save money and aggravation. My garage door spring broke on a Sunday. I called Boulder Garage Door, like I always have. Been doing business with BGD since the 1970's, but I haven't needed them for a few years. They have always been fair, without exception. I knew Bill (the owner) was thinking of retiring and I assumed family was going to take over, so when the truck with the Boulder Garage door sign on the door pulled up I felt comfortable. A pleasant young man named Jimmy came in, we engaged in some small talk and he mentioned that Bill (the retired owner still signed the checks. After a while I went out to see how Jimmy was doing. He had replaced the springs, 3 bearings, 2 drums and 2 cables. I just assumed that this was part of the spring replacing service. I then told him to replace the 10 little wheels that go in the door track with something that I won't have to oil. Jimmy then went to his truck and made an invoice for $1889.00. This included less than $200.00 worth of parts, a mysterious 6% surcharge and $1689.00 for 1and 1/2 hours of labor. That's $1055.00 per hour. I couldn't possibly make this up!! It states in the contract that upon request you can have the contract filled out before the work begins. I was NOT informed of that. I certainly would not have accepted it. But silly old me thought that there must be some mistake and I'll just call good ol Bill and get it straightened out. I called BGD's phone number and a lady told me there is no one to answer calls and gave me an email address. I received a call back from someone named Mike from Anytime Garage Door in Henderson Nevada. only then did I realize what was going on. Bill had sold the business to these crooks. I am ashamed of myself for allowing them to cheat me. I discussed the charges with good ol Mike and after mentioning possibility of taking advantage of elders,(I am 82) he said he would give a senior discount, plus refund the mysterious 6% surcharge. Received a check for $295.00. That brought the labor charge down to a mere $928.00 per hour. Please don't let this happen to you. Horrible. Garage door worked well but ran slow. I called for service and got Boulder Garage as they had acquired my previous garage service company. The tech charged $231 to service (tighten bolts lube, spring tension) and told me it'd cost another $89 to align sensors. He repeatedly said I'd need a new door and opener within the year at a cost of over $5000. Immediately after leaving, the garage door had problems. It would start and stop and needed multiple pushes to get it to open or close. I called and asked for a different technician to repair his work. The company called me 3-4x. First told me a tech would be out in a 4 hour window. Next called to say the tech would not be out until the next day. Next called to tell me they were sending the SAME TECH out to fix that night. We called BGD on a neighbor's recommendation when our garage door decided to stop working. Jimmy from BGD came out within 24 hours, looked and knew immediately what was wrong. A simple fix... Came home to discover my garage door opener no longer worked. Called Boulder Garage and not only did they have a tech at my house within 3 hours, but the tech had everything on his truck to completely overhaul my garage door opener SAME DAY - new motor, new springs, new wheels etc. The tech, Ian was AMAZING and walked me through ever step of the project and stayed quite late into the evening making sure everything was perfect. Can't recommend these guys enough. There are so many shady service providers out there to avoid, but you can sleep easy with Boulder Garage Door based on my experience. read more

I strongly suggest you avoid Boulder Garage Door. They are another reason why Yelp needs a zero star category. I had them reinstall two garage doors as part of a remodel, and install a new third door. Everything is out of alignment, one door screeches with metal-on-metal noise every time I close it, air infiltration around the doors is bad. I asked them to come and look at the doors. The first person was hostile but admitted the work was in need of fixing. Nothing happened, so I called them again. This time they sent the guy who had installed the doors, even though I has specifically asked them not to send him. He was even ruder, blaming me for everything and insisting that it was all within spec. If so, their specs are really lax. The rep said they warrant their work for 30 days: that is not enough time for problems to manifest when things are misaligned. Actually the written warranty is for as long as I own the door. But they don't stand behind their work. They talked me into $380 for nylon rollers, which did not fix the screeching sound. I just talked with Boulder Garage Door again today and they say they do not have anyone who can do a proper job of fixing my doors. They are now blaming the building for being out of level. That does not explain why from a level ceiling, one track was set at 8" from the ceiling, another at 6.5", another at 7.5", and so on. Or why all three openers were installed several inches off the centerline of the doors, putting stress on the doors and the tracks. Or why the doors do not keep the wind out. Notice in the pictures how some of the roller axles are pointing up, some down, and the one in the center appears to be bent. These are what BGD provided and installed. So the bottom line is, according to their own admission, they do not have anyone capable of installing a garage door properly, and they refuse to stand behind their work. All they offer is a pathetic and ridiculous excuse. After spending $3600 with them (and keep in mind I provided two of the three doors and all three openers, so that cost was mainly installation), I have three doors which are misaligned, noisy, and do not seal properly. They may have been a good company years ago. I understand that a year or two ago they got bought out by a company based in Las Vegas. That explains a lot, including their "screw you" attitude. I am now at the point where I don't even want them to come back here and try to fix the doors. I have had enough of their incompetence and rudeness, and they obviously do not take any pride in their work. If they don't know how to fix the doors, I am sure I can find a company which does. read more

I ran into my garage door this morning when it was 2/3 open causing it to come out of the tracks, bend the tracks and it wouldn't close/open. I called around 8am and they guaranteed me someone would be out between 9-12. Sean Rodgers arrived at 10am and fixed my door within an hour. He was professional, knowledgeable and trustworthy. I'm a single mom and on high alert with safety, and I would have felt comfortable leaving Sean alone at my house. He walked me through everything he fixed, optional work I could have done, and how to maintain the work her performed. Very fair price that was worth the value. It is easy to write a good review for a business when everything goes right, but the true test is when things don't go so well. In this case, I'm happy to report that Boulder Garage Door stepped up and made everything right, at their own expense. The long story is, we ordered a rather expensive "clear view" garage door, and because of COVID supply chain issues, it took several months. When it arrived the door was not insulated glass, which was a requirement for the heated space. After some conversations with management, they agreed to replace with an entirely new door, which is perfect. I am sure they lost money on this install. The only caution I would offer is that, if anything goes sideways, talk to the management, not the installers or the job supervisor, who just want the job to be done. read more

Today they made my Christmas season! My garage door is relatively new, so nobody could have talked me into buying a new one. But they could have charged me just for showing up. They didn't. My mistake that I didn't know how to work the release pull, and all they had to do is explain it to me. For that? He didn't even charge me! We heard about BGD from friends; great reviews from everyone. We called, identified a workable time frame for their home visit (8:00 - 11:00) on the agreed-upon day and were told that the rep would give us a call about 30 minutes before arrival. We changed our schedules and set aside that time for the meeting. Excited!! On the morning of the arranged meeting we received a call from someone at the BDG office, saying that, oh by the way, "We don't service your area." I called Boulder Garage Door after a quick google. I expected to wait for awhile to schedule service and didn't know what to expect. They answered first ring and a very friendly efficient woman answered and set me up with a technician same day.. The technician, Kevin arrived during the time window given. He was super friendly and explained all about my garage door.. the possible problems, maintenance issues etc. He promptly fixed it and had the patience to stick around and explain a few things to me.. . Two days after I wrote a check for thousands of dollars to this company, I couldn't get a call back when my new garage door was not working correctly. The technicians were very personable but I wish the installer had told me he didn't put a light bulb in the new garage door opener. When I called to object to the poor customer service, the person I talked to got angry, passed the blame to someone else, and was clearly unhappy that I was complaining. I will tell you - this is one of the worst experiences with a company ever. Boulder Garage Door have been out no less than 10 times(!!) since the original installation for repairs and replacements of mis-installed equipment. Each time it takes multiple calls to get them to commit and then they inevitably stand me up on the first scheduled appt - 6 times I have been stood-up awaiting my 4 hour window!!! --- and they don't even call when they aren't coming! Really the worst. Now, I am thinking to replace the system again just to be rid of them - what an expensive disaster this has become. read more

Follow up customer service is terrible, plus they put a key pad on your house that has their logo, "Anytime Garage" in large print. Like I want to advertise their business. I purchased a couple of garage door openers from Home Depot along with installation through a 3rd party. 2 weeks later, I never received a call from either Home Depot or the 3rd party installer, and when I called to follow up with Home Depot regarding the status of my installation, they told me there was a 3 week waiting list ave there was nothing they could do. Randy the business owner said call him he explain things and work it out except his manager Mike Potter, answers the call and is arrogant an rude, told me how I don't understand business. Well I've run my on for 14 years no complaints. I put the do not recommend on my neighborhood app, and another person mentioned she too was scared into overpaying, exact same words told to my parents "the motor might fail and fall down onto car If we don't get these items fixed". I had three estimates for what was done, to be fair only one guy looked at it, all of them said they were overcharged 400.00 to 500.00 dollars. Wish I could talk to the owner. I have had many people tell me to get written quotes and pictures, and report the company for scare tactics and overcharging seniors, which I did not know it was illegal. Senior protection act. Edit: Since initial review, we received our door. Company gave us a substantial discount. Garage door installed perfectly and it looks nice. Never received our order and the company was not communicative. Tried to order a new garage door from Boulder Garage Door. Charged us a 50% deposit upon order which is normal and we paid. Scheduled us for installation on June 10. We called to find out what time the installer would arrive. They let us know they did not have the door and rescheduled us for June 29th. Again, we called them to see if we were on schedule the Friday before intiallation. They said yes, then called back to move it out a day. On June 30th, our 3rd scheduled date, we called and were told we were first on the schedule. Later they called back to say that it would have to be Friday. On Friday AGAIN WE CALLED THEM and were told they'd be here between 9-12. Noon came and went so when we called again, they tried to push it out on us saying the manufacturer was closed and we couldn't get it today. read more

Broken spring on our garage door, I called and they were able to schedule me for later in the week (we keep our cars outside so it was no big deal). I left the side door open on the day in question and they let themselves in, took care of the issue (replaced both springs, since the other was old as well), and left a perfectly-working garage door and very reasonable bill.
