This is NOT the Garage Doctor as run by Trapper. It's one of these companies buying up all the smaller ones, and letting them keep their names. The ethic seems to be around upselling, making sales so they can go to the sales gathering in Hawaii, that sort of thing. I called for service of the backup battery...and $2000 later, I have a new this and that, except now, neither light on the opener comes on, so I drive into my garage in the dark. I have less functionality than before I called for service. The friendly sell-me-everything-in-the-truck guy became quite snarly when I called him back to look at the (now worse) opener lights. Yep, the guy put in writing that I need a new opener (another $1500), and yep, I was stupid in listening to the fast talk for how the new springs and bearings would make everything work better. But when the opener finally goes, I will be calling anyone but these people. read more

"YOU ARE A F***ING BITCH!" - Trapper S. (Owner) And I know what people think when everybody always rates a company really high, then there's that one person who gives them one star... but I have nothing to gain from posting this and this is simply my experience. Take it or leave it. After the person who answered the phone was rude/out of line, she called me back to apologize, sounding like she was nearly in tears. I am a forgiving person, people have bad days - everyone deserves a second chance right? This company came highly recommended and have stellar reviews, and I'm sure that they do a lot of great business - that's why I chose them. So I still proceeded to have them do my services, and she proved to be fine to deal with moving forward. The professional, kind service person (Mike) came out to install a garage door opener keypad - simple enough. The owner, TRAPPER, called me after the services and asked me what happened with my overall experience, he sounded defensive immediately, but I shouldn't assume that, right? I explained my interaction with the scheduler, he said "I already handled her." I explained not having the opportunity to ask necessary questions to gain adequate information about keypad installation related to the scheduler's preoccupation with feeling bad/excusing her behavior/apologizing - it didn't allow time for pertinent questions (that it didn't require electrical wiring, it's battery operated, and that they screw it to the wall and have you enter a code, and are on their way). I never mentioned cost or requested anything from anyone. He asked about my experience - I told him. Trapper listened, uninterrupted, then when he spoke, things escalated quickly. He asked me what I wanted out of this, I said nothing, but since he asked, to let him know that his company deserved to be represented better than what I had experienced initially - he proceeded to scream LOUDLY, curse me out, call me an asshole, call me a bitch multiple times, tell me that I was an entitled feminist who treats people poorly, that he's used to women like me, unlike his "kind wife" (does he talk to her like this...?), that I am probably still single because I've destroyed every relationship that I've been in because I'm a bitch, and that I am the 1% of customers that business owners deal with who destroy businesses because of bad reviews (I never have, by the way). I called him back again so I could request the invoice for my records - he started screaming at me again, told me that he hated me, that he hates customers like me, that I wanted something for free (which I didn't, or even closely suggest I get something out of this, I never mentioned money at all, and in fact, the lady on the phone initially offered me $10 off, because of how she behaved, and I told her that that was unnecessary). He then texted me to tell me he zeroed my balance, along with responses to my replies to his initial text, and all texts were extremely unprofessional to say the least. I thought about including them but figured I'd allow him to have some dignity. I was verbally assaulted by the owner, twice, to the point where I was literally shaking, and I have some grit, I am not a delicate flower. He said that there was another individual in the vehicle with him, and I can only hope that that person knows the truth of this conversation. I've never left a poor review for companies because I know they struggle and that Yelp does a lot of damage to local businesses. I always use local companies because I do support my local economy, and I love when businesses thrive. To be clear, I never asked for anything from anyone. I actually had my card out to pay the service person, and didn't make a fuss. I even declined the initial offer of $10 off from the scheduling woman. I have the recording of him screaming at me on my phone but Yelp doesn't let you upload things like this. I will find a way to share this because it was completely and utterly mind blowing - whoa. He also texted me and told me that he filed a harassment charge with the Denver Police Department.... who is harassing who here...? My biggest concern is that they know where I live and that's intimidating - based on his erratic behavior. It is against everything in me to leave a negative review for anyone - ever. But it is necessary - it's more about sharing my experience and my hope is that this is an outlier situation, for everyone involved here. Especially Trapper. The Garage Doctor came out and did an incredible upgrade on our old system. After my ski rack was accidentally caught in the pull cord backing out, one of my doors wouldn't close properly, and finally got stuck halfway down. I have a very low clearance garage, and the Garage Doctor was able to upgrade the entire system flawlessly, and even came out to spitball some cool visual ideas for the doors. This setup looks commercial-grade, much higher quality than the system that was previously installed. They were not the cheapest option, but weren't that much more expensive, and the result speaks for itself. Trapper came by measured said I would get my estimate later in the day it's been two weeks.

I was given an estimate of $275 over the phone for a broken spring on my garage door. Little did I know that quote was for 1 spring and of course the tech said I needed 2 new springs, so I am at $550. Then, I needed 10 new rollers for $189; so now I am at $739! My garage door is old, as it was built in 1996 but this pricing is outrageous! When he gave me his card, it said " Garage Door Service". I said I thought you were the Garage Doctor and he said that " we are all the same company". I am am so tired of being ripped off by repair businesses right now. Yesterday, I had to pay $350 for a locksmith to open my door! I understand that small businesses lost money during the pandemic but they are trying to recoup their loses by excessive rates. Ryan came out on a service call to fix our old, rotted out, ugly particle board door and showed us all the problems that this 23 year old door had.......and would have in the future! So we decided on this door that we will never have to paint and it's just too cool for words! These folks are 1st class. I highly recommend the door with a plastic sheet sandwiched between aluminum on both sides. On this date (6-15-18), it runs about $1420. Handles well the bumps & bruises of life. Moving parts have different warranties, but the door itself (except for hail or user damage) is covered for life of door with current homeowner. About as good as it gets. You might have them include in the quote to have a handle on the outside of the door (it comes in handy if, for any reason, you have to release the motor drive from the door [manual mode]). - Dan G. read more

No one wants to spend $350 on a garage repair, but they were honest, punctual, and personal. I got quotes for as high as $750 from 2 other companies for the same exact work! Ryan did a great job on the conversion install. He walked me through everything before, during, and after install. He also gave me some tips on door care. Trapper and his team rock. I needed new garage door openers, the original in my house were 20ish years old, and they took care of me fast. The guys were polite and professional and the new openers are way more quiet than the old ones. Almost too quiet. I like to know when my wife leaves that the door got closed so they installed a cool transponder that tells me it's closed even from my bedroom. April returned my call in a timely manner and sent Simon to check my garage door opener. Simon called when he was on his way as I was told he would. Simon checked the balance and tried to reprogram the existing opener to make it work. That was unsuccessful and it was a 12 year old builder grade opener. The garage door opener we had was hanging on by a thread until it finally bit the dust...on a Saturday...at 11:30pm. The Garage Doctor was one of the few places open on a Sunday and Trapper was great taking my call. He asked me some questions that other companies did not, which would impact the cost, so I got the true quote right from the start. After making some more calls and comparing prices, I felt The Garage Doctor was the best option. And they were. We weren't available Sunday, so Trapper took down my info and had his scheduler call me in the morning. The tech near us was already booked for Monday, but April scheduled me first thing Tuesday and said she'd keep an eye on his schedule in case something opened up Monday afternoon. Sure enough, a slot opened and she called to confirm we'd be available within a 2-hour window. The tech Brock gave me a call about 30 minutes before the window and said he was on his way and gave me an ETA. He arrived right on the dot, was quick to confirm our suspicions regarding our busted opener, and gave us a recommended replacement he felt would do the job well without overselling. He answered our questions thoroughly and was great to work with. Within an hour he had everything installed and running perfectly, including a new keypad. First technician scheduled was delayed and we got a call from another tech that they were on their way out. It was great that they called us about the delay but even better is that they had already sent somebody else to take care of us. I wanted a general service and asked them to change our rollers from steel wheels to a more quiet nylon wheel which has cut down on the noise. I was given my quote and agreed and they were done quick! Like 20 minutes or so. Along the way the tech found a broken hinge on my garage door and fixed that without increasing my cost.
