Very disappointed! hours before our departures major storm blew up. Broken Arrow would not cancel and if we did there would be no refund. the ride was miserable with snow pelting us. the ride was also shortened and we basically did a big loop on the ski hill. It was not the magical moment we'd hoped for or payed for. read more

I saved this very special review for number #1500....and I've been keeping our big news a secret for a few weeks so I could reveal what happened on our horseback riding trip in beautiful Deer Valley, Utah. (eeeeeee!) ... .... ..... ...... ........ .......... We went horseback riding! Hahhahahahahah. Of course we did, what else would we be doing? During our recent getaway to Park City, we decided that a leisurely horseback ride through the ski resort mountains would be a wonderful way to see some nature and ride some horses and hang out together. At only $69/pp for a 2 hour ride, I found it to be very well priced. $35 an hour? Sold! We made our reservations through the concierge at our hotel, but one can always just call or email directly to make a reservation, as they are required. We arrived at the stables (basically just a few gates and feeding areas where the horses make "base camp" and within a few minutes our tour with 5 riders plus guide headed out on our two hour excursion. By no means is this meant to be "thrilling." It is more of a slow meander on horseback on pre-groomed trails in a single file line. There is no cantering, there is no jogging. There is walking and there is looking at pretty trees, mountains and lakes. Prepare thyself! The horses are very well trained and calm, and the guides are very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. Ours happened to have just relocated from Montana, was a calf-wrestler and had a very intuitive nature about horses. He was a great guide. Some points of interest and tips: 1. Go to the bathroom before you go to stables. There are no bathrooms. Two hours is a long time to hold it, and the horses don't have to. 2. Bring cash to tip your guide after your ride. They appreciate it! 3. Bring a hat and sunblock + shades. High altitude + hot sun + little shade does not make for happy skin. 4. Can pay for rides via credit card, they can process on site. 5. Parking is available at the stables. What did YOU think happened on our horseback ride? :) Ha! Fun times. A great summer activity in Park City. Great for kids, too. We rode through aspen groves, pine trees and along mountain bike and ski trails well into the mountains. The views of the Jordenelle Res were beautiful. We went on a 60 minute ride out of Deer Valley with our 7 year-old ... exactly what we were looking for! Horses were ready to go when we arrived and we were quickly off on our adventure with a veteran cowboy. We went up thru the trees and up past the resort onto some paths along the ski slopes. We felt safe and able to enjoy this as beginners. Probably not exciting if you ride horses regularly, but for those of us that want to check it out without feeling like we are being treated like kids, this was great! Pricing was very competitive for the area, they do accept credit cards at the trail head, and they were referred to us by other stables in the area that wouldn't take kids this young (most have age 8 as the minimum. read more

Had a great ride this morning (despite the chilly weather!) Our original riding location had to be adjusted due to snowpack on the trails, but the alternate location was well communicated in advance. What a wonderful horseback riding experience!!! I have ridden at quite a few different riding stables and this one ranks way at the top of my list. Booking the ride was a breeze, finding the location and checking in couldn't have been easier. The wranglers working when we arrived were extremely kind and attentive while asking about our riding experience. We were mounted and on the trail in an extremely timely fashion which was great. The views were absolutely wonderful out on the trail. Our guide Kevin couldn't have been more attentive and hospitable. My favorite thing about this outfit was that the horses were extremely healthy, happy and not over worked. It was very obvious that these horses had just enough work to keep them happy and healthy yet they were not worked too much to where they were sour and cranky. These horses are as safe as they come. Our group had a variety of experienced and not so experienced riders and they had a horse perfectly suited for each rider. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! read more

Best experience! I do not have any experience horseback riding and was nervous at first! The two young men at the ranch were reassuring and laid back. Answered all my questions and got me feeling comfortable. There were 3 of us plus the tour guide. Being that there were less people, the experience was more personal And enjoyable. If you don't regularly ride, my recommendation is no longer than 1 hour. They pick which horse is best for you based on your experience and height. The horses were very well behaved and knew just what to do on the trails without much of any, direction or cues. Took the sunset ride which didn't really have a sunset at this time of year as sunset is later. But that two hour ride was wonderful and provided unique view points. They purposely split your groups off so that each group has a private tour which was very nice. The guides were also able to offer advice other activities we could do while in Park city. For Boulder Mountain Ranch at Deer Valley: My wife and I went on the 2 hour ride with lunch. Our guide, Dennis, was fantastic! My wife has ridden horses through out her life but this was my first ride ever. He gave great instructions and was super professional while also being fun to speak with and ensuring we had a great time. We stopped for a very nice lunch with a beautiful view and we just had a great overall experience. The price is very good and the quality was worth every penny so much so I'm sure we'll be back as soon as possible! My husband and I visited Utah and had the pleasure of a morning horseback ride in the mountains at dawn. The location was easy to find and our horses were ready as soon as we arrived. Our guide was friendly but kept to herself most of the time which wasn't a bad thing as it allowed us to take in the scenery and overall experience. The trails were exceptional and the horses all seemed fairly comfortable with the terrain. Our tour group was small and it allowed us to relax and truly enjoy the experience. I held that final star because it seems that they may need to do a slight bit more on "user instructions" prior to getting out and riding. It seemed that others in our group were not had experienced at all and during a rather steep and rocky portion of a trail, the horse got very hesitant, frustrated, and understandably so did the rider. Even just a few minutes of riding basics (leaning front/back, holding reins, confidence, etc.) could've helped that particular rider enjoy it more. read more

Our group of 9 went on a two horse sleigh ride. It was spectacular. The driver was fun and accommodating. The horses are beautiful and well cared for. We did the sleigh ride for my daughters second birthday because she loves horses and obviously deer valley is beautiful. When I first called for reservations we were assisted by Cassi and she was nice/helpful. When we got there our driver Dylan was also nice. It seemed like a good experience although the actual sleigh ride was cut short and we had a single horse that was also the oldest so we needed to take lots of breaks (we were stopped just as much as we were moving). We wanted to have a great night and so even though the actual sleigh ride wasn't the best it wasn't something to complain about on a night we wanted to celebrate. At the end we tipped our driver (Dylan) in cash and we were off to dinner. Later that night we received a notification on our phones that we were charged an extra $20 on the card. I was surprised because Cassi had told me it was $100 even. So I called the following Monday to see what the extra charge was for. When I called I was really polite and kindly asked Cassi what the charge was for. She told me it was for a tip. I told her I never wrote that tip and we always tip in cash and I remember my husband giving cash to Dylan.She quickly turned very rude and called me a liar and also said the color pen is not their company's pen so therefore I did write it in. Which i obviously used the pen that Dylan gave me and I never wrote that tip in. After she said "well, I see that we have both copies of the receipt here so thats your fault you didn't get a copy of the receipt." I see that it clearly was my mistake to not ask for the receipt however if I took my receipt or not it does not give them the right to do something illegal. I strongly believe that I was not the first to be taken advantage of. Either Cassi or Dylan or the company as a whole does this. She never once apologized and or was surprised by this situation. She was very mean. I told her that $20 isn't going to make or break my bank account and if I was calling for money back I would argue the sleigh ride. At the end she did refund the $20 but was very rude and hung up the phone. After I went to my husband crying because of how rude this lady was and was accusing me. Like I told Cassi $20 isn't really that much money considering how much you are spending for the service but whether you have the means or this is a one time splurge no one likes to be taken advantage of. Luckily, we had our notifications on or we may have not caught it. I would like to hope it was just Cassi and Dylan and not the company that stands for this. read more
