For the life of me, I cannot understand the love this place gets as "one of the best hotdogs" in New Jersey. I've been here a half dozen times for the chili cheese dogs because there's nowhere else to get a hot dog in Jersey City, and what you get is a serviceable hot dog. I always walk by this place and never get a chance to try it. Today I give it a try as the reviews raves about this place. I walked in not knowing what to order besides just "hot dog". The menu is pretty clear when you walk in you will see it. The staffs are funny, nice and will help you out if you have questions. The place is limited space. It's not ideal for larger group to hang and sit down. I ordered the plain hotdog with the typical ketchup and mustard along with another spicy sausage with chilli. I tried the plain hotdog. It was the bomb! It tastes so good. The pricing is quite fair for New York hotdog. I paid around $5ish for 2 hotdogs. Would I go again? YES, I will! I love Boulevard Drinks. If you're expecting a nice place to sit down and have a bourgeois, cumin-infused, 17-year aged cheddar crusted sausage in an artisan sourdough bun, this place is not for you. If you'd like a cheap, delicious hot dog on a toasted bun topped with chili and cheese, go here and return often. I'd be remiss to say that part of why I'm giving BD five stars isn't because of its proximity to the Jersey Loews movie palace. Jersey Loews is an old theatre, truly a palace, built in 1929. If you haven't heard of 20s-era movie palaces, please google this right now. Anyways, I love coming to BD because I always go to a Jersey Loews showing literally next door. Two chili cheese dogs will cost you just over five dollars. Walk next door and you can complement the dogs with two feature films (I saw Sullivan's Travels and Arsenic and Old Lace last night) with popcorn and a drink for seventeen more. Not bad when it's $15 bucks to see a movie in Manhattan. Anyways, go to Boulevard Drinks and Jersey Loews. You will not regret it. Be advised though, if you're planning on seeing a movie after your hot dogs, definitely check the Jersey Loews website. They only screen movies one or two weekends a month! read more

Now this place has perfected the simplicity of grilling a hotdog, placing it in hotdog bread and topping them off with several toppings of your choice. I go for onions, sauerkraut, ketchup & mustard. Some go for the chili too. I usually choose not to do that to my poor stomach & rear but I've heard the chili on top is good. This place is cheap & quick (if it isn't crowded) & satisfies a mystery meat craving. Now, staff needs to keep track of who comes first because there are no rules in this place and unless you want to get into a fistfight with a crackhead people may skip you. This place is on my way home and every time I come out the path, I always wonder if I have cash and am I hungry enough for 1-2 chili dogs. Most of the time I move along and start again the next day, but there are times I lose. Hotdogs and buns are always fresh. Most of the toppings are also good as well. I really like this place. When I worked for Difeo I would eat at the one on that use to be on Rt 440 for breakfast and lunch. It's not the best dog in NJ, nor is it a real chili dog. It's closer to the Texas weiner sauce you find on the dogs in Paterson, Clifton area. It's a spicy sauce that you can get with mustard diced onions, my favorite way or with cheese. So I've lived in Journal Square for years and I've never reviewed this place? Let's fix that. I'm all about hole-in-the-wall places. It doesn't get much more hole-in-the-wall than here. I would often find myself running by here either to go to my pharmacy or running different errands in the area. Naturally, I'd often find an excuse to make a pit stop here. Once you duck inside, you'll find yourself inside a Jersey City institution. There's little room inside. But let's be real- if you wanted a high-end, sit-down lunch, you wouldn't be going to a place that slings hot dogs. If you want phenomenal hot dogs that pop in your mouth, you'll come here, you'll deal with the smaller space, and you'll enjoy it. I will be incredibly depressed if this place ever shuts down as I feel it has some of that Jersey City soul that seems to be getting sucked from the area. If this place is open and you're in the area, give them a shot. You'll be helping keep a Jersey City legend open. read more

Yes that is right, 5 stars for a hotdog joint. Went here last night between a double feature at the Loew's Theatre and had a half hour to kill so stopped for a bite to eat. It is a tiny little place (maybe 10 stools), cash only but one of the best hot dogs I have ever had. I have been told to come to this place and just hadn't had the opportunity. I didn't know what I was missing all these years! I will put it up there with the Nathan's in Coney Island and a Dodger Dog at Dodger Stadium. It has the snap of a Sabrett Hot Dog and it is grilled. We shared 2 with sauerkraut /mustard, 2 chili cheese with mustard and a lemonade. The total cost for 4 hotdogs and a drink was under $10 (such a deal!). I went to grammar school about a block away from here, so this is where we would go after school every single day. Back then a hot dog and a soda would cost me less than a dollar. Now a hot dog and a soda will cost me about $3.00, which still isn't that bad. I love how when you bite into the dog, you hear it go *snap* in your mouth because it's well cooked. It's Sabrett's so you know it's a good dog. And usually, instead of a soda I get the fruit punch, which is one of those olde time machines. Hey, if it ain't broke why fix it, right? So on a beautiful March day (thanks global warming) after waiting for the building inspector for SIX HOURS! (thanks municiple gov.) I decided to do some afternoon drinking. Seeing as there is no time like the present I give it a whirl. When I enter the smell of flat top griddled meat in tube form and sauerkraut fill my lungs. Ahh, heaven. Surely my time waiting for gov. officials will be rewarded. I order two dogs with kraut to go. Cant waste time when beer is on my mind. I gotta say these dogs are very good. They have that snap to the meat that you look for in a hot dog.(Sorry dirty water dogs dont snap like griddled) The kraut is excellent. Good flavor without overpowering in odor and bitterness. My only criticism is that the buns are not toasted. I know your thinking "So what?" but let me tell you when you eat a dog, brat, sausage with an untoasted bun after you've had a toasted bun. It some how lacks that jazz that makes it a 10. Thats my only reason for a four and not a five and Im sorry to say thats kinda big for me. My only other recommendation is to try a lime ricky. It's a drink that I can only describe as an amazing concoction of deliciousness that will blow your mind. It's not on the menu, but they still serve it up for those who ask just like they have for decades. The chili-dogs here are things of legend...
