Great hot dog service truck with speedy service. There is street parking next to the truck, near to park beyond the truck. The best options are Kraut & hot mustard, cheese & shrooms, or Chilli & cheese. I tried the specialty with crushed Doritos and it was delicious. They all come individually wrapped. Ask the server for their rec and they'll make a special Jersey dog for you. The Yoo Hoo aka Brown Cow got those who are veteran JJ fans are a great combo. Juicy and delicious taste of dog. Best to eat samecday but can be wrapped to eat the next day. They also sell shirts, but call ahead so you can get a shirt that come in a variety of colors. They are $20. read more

What can I say about JJs? Other than they are an NJ OG institution. The memories of getting drunk at nearby bars and heading to JJs for a nightcap dog will forever make me smile. I haven't been by in some time but you can bet next time I'm in the area I'll be stopping in. I have 2 suggestions if you like to experiment with more than the usual run of the mill hot dog toppings. First try the gut buster. You may regret it in the morning but it's well worth it. Second one is to try the cream cheese with bacon dog. It's the first place I ever seen that had it decades ago. J.J.'s Hot Dog Truck is a long-standing institution on Bloomfield Avenue in the Newark, New Jersey and is still a wonderful place to grab a hot dog or two. I also have great memories of coming here after a night at some long gone nightclubs such as the Dirt Club and Studio One (I guess that I am showing my age here). The service here has always been fast and there has always been something cool about waiting in line at this hot dog truck waiting for your turn to get your hot dogs and enjoy your feast. Was told to come here by many people on our TikTok page so we went ahead and stopped in. Grabbed a Belly Buster and a Hook Up for myself and the lady had a Dog with Bacon and Cheese sauce. Didn't find out until after that it's nearly standard to grab a yoo-hoo also...sorry for missing that train! So I didn't try the bacon dog but my gf said she enjoyed it a lot. What's not to love about bacon and cheddar sauce?! Let's start with the Belly Buster. So this dog has Kraut, Hot Onions, Cheese, and Hot Chili for like $2.50 ... uhm, what?! Lots of toppings and a pretty cheap dog. Sometimes the cheap prices make me skeptical. This was a good dog. The chili had a nice little kick to it and the onions were great. Cheese is cheese and Kraut is kraut typically, but all of these items together made a really tasty doggie for a killer price. The Hook-Up might have been better! More of that awesome chili but this time with some mayo, ketchup, and cole slaw. Really solid combination of flavors, I can see at these prices why this place is such a hit...especially amongst the late night crowd looking for something to fill their stomachs after a night at the bars. jj's has been a favorite hot dog spot since my favorite decade the 80's. After going to the clubs, all the guidos and guidettes would winde up down bloomfield Ave to jj's to get on a 2 block line at 2:30am. That's how good the hotdogs were and are. If you have a spicy side, get the onions, it's totally out of this world. Other than that, mustard and ketchup will do my friend. Taking your first bite into these babies can simulate unprecedented amounts of euphoria. For best results, wait until you're extremely hangry. HOLY CRAP!!!!!!! Today I found a little bit of heaven here on Earth...in NEWARK, no less. One of my co-workers has been telling me about JJs Hot Dog Truck for two years and today a bunch of us loaded up two cars, drove through Newark like we were in a chase from the TV show COPS, and pulled up right about noon. It took me about five seconds to read the menu and know what I wanted...One dog with kraut, hot onions and mustard; one cheese dog; one belly buster with chili, cheese, kraut, and hot onions; and a CandC Grape soda. And the clouds parted, and rays of light shown down on the meek, and they heard from above "let there be flavor"...and there WAS! I consider myself a hot dog connoisseur and these were some of the greatest dirty water dogs I have EVER had. The hot onions and hot chili had a perfect spiciness to them and the cheese dog was just perfect. So we're standing there after finishing and I look at my co-worker, he gives me a little head nod, and we BOTH get back in line for a fourth dog...I got a chili cheese dog this time and OMG-worth every minute I am going to have to spend on a treadmill/eliptical/walking the dogs or whatever else it takes to burn them off. As a side note, I haven't had a C and C soda in about 25 years and other than an actual beer, it was the perfect addition to some nearly perfect hot dogs!!! read more
