Great place to stop while out. Guys there always great, best chili in the area. Been coming here for years and never disappointed

One dog red onions and mustard

I'd love to give this a 5, and I am going to go back and try more things to see if it does become a 5, but for now just based on the one dog I had we are going 4. Stopped in here super briefly with my son because we hadn't eaten in a while and were running around so needed something fast. We both love a good dog, and I had been told to come here many times, so we stopped in. Very small spot with a service window outside and a counter for maybe 8 people to sit. Huge griddle where they were working many dogs at once. If you got the red onions, I'm getting them so I went with red onions and mustard. I want to go back and try the chili and some other things (like all the drinks I got yelled at for not trying). The dog was great. Nice and snappy, good flavor, love the onions, steamed bun. I wish I could say more but I will need to plan another trip in. For now I can comfortably say Boulevard Drinks - Didn't Suck!

Still remains my go to hot dog spot when I'm feeling a hot dog. These days I get the sauerkraut with ketchup and mustard for $3.75 . Great guys working behind the counter.

Living in the area and being a city girl and loving me a good papayas, had to try this quaint hot dog spot which seemed to be popular and smell like home. Decided on a Sunday after to try it out after a nice walk in the area. The place is small ran by two friendly gentleman. They have a simple menu with various options and simple dewls to go along with it. Two hits with a drink, $.50 off and three hits with a drink and a dollar off and I like this one; $1 refills as I could use one on the pina colada . The place gave a homey local vibe that everyone came to and I would say would be a place I would revisit when I'm needing a good hotdog or craving some papayas style vibes.

Nice little hidden gem near Journal Square. Had the chili dog, and they have a great assortment of drinks, which makes sense because of the name. Given that NJ is the hot dog capital of the world (don't deny it), this place is a must, given that it has somehow stayed around since 1937. After 6 it is window service only, so if you want the old counter experience, go before then. Prices are reasonable, the hot dog is pretty good. Next time I will try the combo so I can grab one with cheese.

    Grilled Spicy Sausage with chili

I've been on a hot dog kick lately and recently found out about Boulevard Drinks, so my husband and I decided to drop in on a Saturday at around 11:30. The place is a hole in the wall. But it's always the dingy looking places that have the best food. I'm not sure there were even any seats. We just stood next to the counter and ate, which you need to anyway because they're meant to be eaten fresh. We ordered a cheese dog with sweet onions, and a spicy sausage with sweet onions. Each topping is 50 cents, so it can add up and you may end up paying $5 for a hot dog. But worth it for a once in a while treat. The hot dog was good but I liked the sausage a lot more. Both have a similar taste but the sausage is bigger and snappier. We ended up ordering another spicy sausage afterwards, but this time with chili. This one was pretty heavy so I'm glad we shared. Unpopular opinion, but I think a chili cheese dog would have been too much. Glad we got to check this place out!

So good I had to think twice about this post. Maybe one of the best dogs I've had. Sweet onion chili dog.- buy 5.

2 dogs and my puppy dog Liberty at this classic Jersey City Frank hole in the wall. Place is from the 30s and once sported one of the razziest Neon signs in signage history. For some reason taken down. That said, lotta charm and the dogs went down well. People who worked their also super chill dudes. Pineapple drink to wash it all down.

This place is one of the best spots for some hotdogs in New Jersey. No matter what you order here, you won't be disappointed. I love every option they have here. Obviously, the hotdogs are what you come here for, but the spicy sausage is amazing as well. Gotta throw on some chili and cheese when you order either a hotdog or a sausage sandwich, as these are my favorite toppings. Especially the chili, as this is top-tier chili. Some other good toppings for their hotdogs are sauerkraut and sweet onions. You can't go wrong no matter how you order your hotdogs. I love a good, well-done hotdog, and this place makes them perfectly well done. Parking is difficult around this area, but you can order ahead for pickup, or they are even on Uber eats for delivery. Definitely come try this spot out if you're in the mood for some hotdogs, as you will find yourself coming back for more. Highly recommended!

While food took awhile, we were no in a rush and the employees were friendly. The crif burger and New Yorker were too basic for me, but I enjoyed the elote topping for the elote dog. The tots were a nice side to pair with your meal. There's nothing like some hot dogs and burgers before/after drinking, so it's a smart pairing being next to all the bars. Would I come here solely for the hot dogs and burgers? Probably not. But it works great together with PDT.

The crif is pork and beef, New Yorker (all beef) and veggie option. I did a New Yorker (all beef) $4.75 with sauerkraut ($0.75) and the Spicy Redneck which featured a bacon wrapped crif dog with chili, coleslaw and picked jalapeños. Both satisfied the hot dog craving I had. There are also tater tots and burgers available. The bread was a bit stale, hence the 3 stars and the bun split on my New Yorker making it messy to eat. The woman behind the counter was friendly and suggested I try the dog featured this month- featuring a fried pickle or the Tsunami which has teriyaki sauce and pineapples. I would stop here again if in the area, but for basic dog a cart will hit the spot.

A short walk later, I found myself at Destination Dogs, a place I had seen in photographs that suggested capaciousness. In reality, it is smaller.  This is not a complaint, just an observation.  I remember once hearing something about the contents of small packages. At 12:30 the place was full. Packed with humanity and appetite. I was seated quickly, as if someone had anticipated my hunger in advance. From the bar came the sound of construction crews discussing their midday rituals. Apparently this is where they come on Fridays, to repair themselves while they repair the city. It explained everything. Service was swift and attentive, a minor miracle given the crowd. I began with a Scotch egg, an item that seemed to have wandered in from another story entirely. I ordered it for that reason. I had always imagined my first Scotch egg would be eaten in an English pub under low ceilings and older regrets. Instead, here it was. Perfectly crisp, warm, and generous. The universe does not ask for permission. Then came the main event. The menu is an atlas of hot dogs. Domestic. International. Proteins in tube form arranged like possibilities. There is even an invitation to build your own, which I accepted. I attempted to recreate a favorite from Crif Dogs, a thing called the Spicy Redneck. Bacon wrapped dog. Pickled jalapenos. Coleslaw. Simple in theory. Destination Dogs improved upon it in every way that matters. The bacon crisped with purpose. The jalapenos spoke clearly. The coleslaw behaved. The hot dog itself seemed proud to be there. All of this, plus a 16 ounce beer, cost me about twenty five dollars with tip. A small price for order in a chaotic universe. Five stars. Not because perfection exists, but because this comes close enough to make the argument.

Fun spot with awesome dogs and great vibes!…read more This place is such a cool restaurant/bar that feels like a local staple for sure. The staff is super friendly and know their way around the (very large) menu. Honestly, they have a hot dog or sausage combo for just about everyone. I let the bartender pick for me, and she nailed it. She chose an all-beef dog that was basically a Big Mac in hot dog form. I was skeptical at first, but wow this hit in all the right ways. Awesome presentation, even better flavor. I could've easily eaten three of these. I also tried the onion rings, the bartender warned me they were just "meh," and she wasn't wrong, lol. For round two, I went with an all-beef dog topped with pastrami this is basically a Reuben-style dog. Another win! Great flavor, great presentation. Overall, I'd totally recommend Destination Dogs if you're in the area. Just a heads up, if there's a game on, it gets loud. Like "can't-hear-your-friend-next-to-you" loud. But if that's your vibe, you'll love it.
