They've transformed the structures, while still keeping a rustic feel and they've done a great job. Here's what they offer: Kayak and Canoe Rentals: They've mapped out and provide maps for paddles varying from 2 to 6.5 hours. The shuttle service makes the logistics of spending time on the water easy. Ice Cream Parlor: This section is small but offers some of the best ice cream I've been served in Indiana. Our most recent visit we enjoyed Kentucky Praline Pecan, Florida Orange Sherbet and Strawberry Cheesecake varieties. They rotate flavors but have enough variety I've always found something tempting. Wine Room and Craft Beer: The tasting room is beautiful but we honestly haven't tried this yet. At the moment the only food they have daily to go with the drinks is nachos. However, they have been offering food with live music as outlined on their Facebook page and website. Event Space: The back portion of the property has been made into an event space with tables under cover in another out-building. My mom's high school reunion is scheduled to take place here.

The restaurant was a lot more kitschy than I was expecting, which I loved. Our waitress had a wonderful energy. She was very knowledgeable about the menu. The menu had several unique items. I ordered a Scottish soda called IRN BRU. I love trying food and drinks from around the world. It tasted like an Orange Crush soda. Our waitress said they were known for their Cauliflower soup. It was cold outside so soup sounded perfect. I also got a pepper jack grilled cheese. The soup came in a huge bowl. The combo of the soup and grilled cheese was very filling. My friends ordered the sticky pudding. I had a bite and it was delicious. I cant believe it's taken me so long to eat here. I throughly enjoyed it and cant wait for my next road trip.

It's a few minutes off the highway, but certainly doesn't feel like you're in Gas City, IN. It looks like they added on an outdoor space recently. Nothing too extravagant, but nice enough for lunch. A nice younger man took care of us on the patio. The menu was quite eclectic and unique. The tortilla chips and cold bean dip was a great way to start. Both our soups were fantastic....cheddar cheese for one and leek soup the other. Fish and chips hit the spot and apparently a fan favorite. My wife had the club sandwich of GF bread. Great little local spot if you're ever in the area.

This controversial mural is the work of The Droops, an Indianapolis-based artist collective who…read morewere commissioned by The Spot to do the piece in 2015. It located on the side of the Spot and overlooks their parking lot. It takes up 2 sections of the bar's side wall. The mural is in great shape but as you can see in the photos, its lower park is obstructed by parked vehicles. It is a collogue of random images that include a guillotine, a beer on a folding chair, a tombstone, a skull, a in a bikini with four eyes holding a beer up, a knife, a clown, a bomb, a trumpet, a cigarette butt, a foot, a face being punched by a fist, a hand holding a knife, and an odd character holding a beer while playing a piano. The mural also depicts a naked woman tied to a tree and male genitalia in between a hotdog bun, which caused quite a site as you can imagine. There were calls by the community to have the offensive piece removed, covered up or fenced off. The change.org petition ended with 20 supporters. At one point the Lafayette police issued a warning that artwork was violation of the city's graffiti ordinance. There was a point during all of this that they used a Mike Pence head (who was governor at the time) to cover the male genitalia. Ultimately, the Spot won and the city decided that the mural was not graffiti and did not meet the criteria for a citation. The mural is standing today. Even though there are a lot of images to digest. The artwork is very nice. This is a provocative piece that definitely generates conversation. You can deiced for yourself what your thoughts on the piece are. Parking to get a closer look at the mural is easy, even though it overlooks a parking lot, the lot is kind of tight. There is however, some free parking pretty close to the mural too. Anyway, as with most murals that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip. There of tons of murals to check out in the immediate area.

I discovered three more product categories that can be used for non-alcoholic home concoctions:…read more 1. Flavored syrups and fruit concentrates. Dilute and pour on your shaved/crushed ice or ice cream. Or use instead of the more expensive smaller size flavorings with your Soda Stream carbonated beverage maker, (that thing that injects CO2 in your water to make soda.) 2.Malted (not roasted) barley and wheat, for adding to whole wheat flour for a better rise. White flour (all-purpose flour and bread flour) has malted barley flour added, which has enzymes that break down starch into the glucose/sugar that yeast can use. Whole wheat flour has little to no malted barley/wheat added. Be careful because adding too much malt powder to dough breaks down too much starch. Check recipes before use. GF will crush malt, but not grind it sufficiently for dough use. I use a coffee/spice grinder to turn the malted grains into powder/flour. 3. Dried malt extract, aka malt sugar. This usually consists of three types of sugars: glucose/dextrose, maltose, and maltotriose. Use for making old-fashioned "malted" milkshakes. Good for adding to hot breakfast cereals, too. I use a little in bread-making. (See my previous review about corn sugar/glucose/dextrose.)
