I stopped in for lunch today while working in the area. I sat at the bar and learned from Carrie, the bartender, the Slider Special of the Day were the Pimento Cheese Sliders with Waffle Fries. It was a great choice. The Pimento Cheese had a little heat, which I liked. I had a Rivalry IPA also, which was very good. I liked the bar area. They have plenty of TV's and a full bar with a nice bourbon selection. Can't beat a lunch with a beer for $20ish including tip. read more

Passing though and wanted something that wasn't fast food, came upon this spot. We started with the buffalo chicken dip with chips, which was tasty but pretty spicy. I had the Cajun chicken pasta for my entree, she had the lobster Mac and cheese. My Cajun chick pasta was tasty, although there could have been more chicken. Her lobster Mac was also tasty. My second time here, but T's first. She got a pizza, because it's pizza. According to her, the buffalo chicken pizza is as good or better than the pizza at Picasso, and their pizza is really good. I had the chili Mac and cheese and it was delicious. The Mac and cheese itself was creamy and the chili with the shredded cheddar cheese really elevated the whole thing. Next time I may try the brisket Mac and cheese. Great food, good selection of beer and cocktails, and a long list of bourbons. The service was good. Can't go wrong eating here. read more

My wife and I stopped at Bourbon and Barley for a mid afternoon Friday lunch and were somewhat disappointed. Bourbon and Barley in Jackson has a contemporary feel and a nice sports bar vibe that is comfortable and appealing. Table service was friendly and efficient. However, our food was really not quite up to the level of the surroundings. We both had buffalo chicken salads and shared an artichoke dip and chip appetizer. Both were quite pedestrian, the artichoke dip was thin, and the bleu cheese dressing ordered for the salads was ranch. We also had double Old Fashioneds, which were the special, and they were simply not up to par, either in size (for a double), or in quality (much too sweet!). Bourbon and Barley has a good reputation locally and it may be that we simply ordered the wrong items. We may try again. read more

It was our first time visiting on the way to Memphis from Nashville and what a pleasant surprise! The food was tasty from start to finish. The bacon jam on the deviled eggs really compliments the eggs and sets them apart from average! The wings were well seasoned and the batter was crispy. They also had a vast selection of cocktails, beers and bourbon! All very reasonably priced too. The interior was clean and tastefully decorated. The experience as a whole would have been fantastic if not for the lack of service provided by our server. Nice little sports bar/restaurant. Service was outstanding, couldn't have been better. My issue was with the food, in particular, the pizza we ordered. I prefer thin crust that leans towards crispy, this was thick and chewy. If you like Costco pizza then you will be fine, but, if you like NY style pizza it's probably not your place. I will give it another try, however, pizza will not be a part of my meal. read more

Are they slow? Yes. Do wait staff check up on you, especially on solo diners? No. Do appetizer come at the same time as the entrees. Yes. Luckily the bar is partially walled to block the noise. Had bone-in rib eye with waffle fries and the duck roll. Tip: eat the fries first. They are really well done with crisp bite, wonderful flavor and perfect texture inside. Duck rolls were not quacked up to all the hype. Be prepared for duck pâté, with a slight livery flavor. Wrap was thick but had a bit of good crisp to it. I'm a prime rib person, so the rib eye was a sad substitute, with just the core being easy to eat, gristle surrounded most of it. The bone was French'ed stressing so that only an inch and a half was in contact with the meat. I was trying to give some business to a smaller chain than Outback (next door). Next time, Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! But might swing by for waffle fries to go. read more

Stopped here on our way from Oklahoma to Gatlinburg for a quick bite with our family. Super cute lace with a restaurant feel on one side and a bar feel on the other. The short review: There is nothing that stands out about the decor of the interior. The service was good as we had all questions answered, recommendations given, time to browse, etc. Our glasses were refilled in a timely fashion and to-go cups were offered. The hostess/server was knowledgeable, efficient, and polite. The floors and tables were clean. The food was below serving temperature when it got to our table, so we did have concern regarding food-borne illness. The portions were small and somewhat overpriced for the recipe. Ambience was very cool. Servers and manager were sitting at entrance, lackadaisical and playing on their phones. I could see thick dust up on shelf that encompasses the dining area, and no one cleaning...not a good sign. We went during happy hour when doubles were the price of one. We asked if margaritas were included, and the waiter said they were, so we ordered 2 doubles. We each ordered another and an appetizer and dinner. Potato skins were yummy. For dinner I ordered the Mac and cheese brisket---brisket was good but masked with too much BBQ sauce. May I suggest serving separately? The flavors were good, and I would have liked to experience each independently. Husband ordered lobster-crab linguini,and his review was that more seafood would have been good. It was mostly pasta. Bathroom decor was very classy. When I spoke to the manager about the extra charges tacked onto my bill, he said it was extra for the margarita mix. WHAT?? This is a first. If the margaritas were not part of happy hour, we should have been told. I would happily have paid for a vodka drink... The manager (big glasses and shorts) told me that's just the way it is and offered no $ off. I was feeling disappointed and deceived and tricked. Whatever. My third visit here and I definitely feel it is a solid 4 for food, but 5 for service, and back to a 4 for ambiance. The service has been great each time, but they always fall just a little short on food. I don't mean it's bad, just that it could be better. We had a couple of Old Fashions to start; they were well made. House bourbon is old Forrester so we upgraded to Woodford for a couple of we bucks. They have a decent selection and very reasonable prices on their bourbons . The fried pimento cheese was very tasty but over fried. I will say our server noticed this and offered to bring us another dish. We declined, it wasn't so over cooked you couldn't eat it, just extra crunchy. Next was the brisket pizza, definitely won't have this again. The brisket was shaved so thin that it got very dry when the pizza was cooked. And the barbecue sauce is extremely sweet, it actually doesn't taste like barbecue sauce at all. The pizzas are a great size, and we had plenty of leftovers. I'll just try a different one next time. My date had two of the sliders. The brisket, and the bacon blue burger. Good taste, but the meat on both was very dry. The burger was way overcooked. The flavors were good, but the kitchen is falling down on the final product . As I said, service was excellent. We were greeted as soon as we sat down. Not intrusive, and just the right amount of attention to ensure that we had everything we needed, and were enjoying ourselves. As far as ambience, it feels like you are sitting in a fast food place. It's loud due to the concrete floors and high ceilings. I don't understand why it has to be soooooo bright! No sense of intimacy at all, even in a booth. The tables are worse, they look like they belong in a cafeteria. This place has so much potential if they would only step up their game. I have never sat in the bar, but it always looks busy and there are several large televisions with different sporting events on.
