Shannon is the best bartender! She is so sweet and so attentive. I absolutely love going to this bar and they have the best drinks. My favorite is the 1984! I also love going here for trivia night! Bourbon and Brews is a great spot for day drinking, happy hour, or a fun late night with friends. Bernice is also so sweet and so nice! So this was my first time coming here. And I was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. There were a few people here but not even close to ten! I ordered chicken an waffles but for some reason they couldn't find the waffle maker, ok fine so we settled for pancakes and chicken. The wait for the food was horrendous! We waited a hour plus for burned chicken and dry flimsy pancakes. The bartender said shed take 25% off the bill for the wait and since we weren't happy with the food she'd have them make something else! But in all honesty we didn't take the chance! We paid the remainder of the bill an hightailed out of there and went someplace else. The previous reviews definitely bamboozled us into thinking this was a good place to eat! They weren't busy we say ourselves an waited over an hour for food that was burned! I cant stress that this place has to do better! Get a better cook, Find their waffle maker, an offer things with flavor and Get a second cook just to be safe! read more

Happened upon this place by chance, and so glad I did!! The food is delicious, the drinks/cocktails are amazing, and the staff is wonderful. Our server made fantastic recommendations since no one in our party had been here before, and everything he recommended was delicious! The Bang Bang sauce is to die for and the peanut butter Skrewball whiskey is dangerously delicious. Definitely stop by if you're in the area-- you won't regret it! read more

We live nearby and have frequented this place quite a few times , including the first weekend it opened when we met the owner. It was always fun taking a walk from our house and sitting for a drink. This past Friday night we went with our adult daughter and sat inside as all the tables outside were taken. There was a female bartender who was extremely rude, completely ignoring us and giving us dirty looks. The man behind the bar looked over at us quite a few times and yet nobody bothered to give us menus or ask us if we wanted a drink! My husband got up and walked over to the bar where he still waited quite a few minutes and mind you they were only two patrons at the bar at 5 o'clock ! After getting our drinks another 15 minutes goes by with no menus so we decide we are fed up and going to leave. As soon as they see us leaving the table the rude female bartender tries to assure us that they'll be with us in a second. Long story short 45 minutes later we finally get the three small appetizers. The one they call nachos is absolutely disgusting! I have never tasted anything so salty in my life, we were not able to eat it. The only positive note was a young man who worked there showed up towards the end and he couldn't have been nicer or more attentive! I wish I knew his name I can only describe what he looked like. He was young with a head full of curly hair. Unfortunately this entire experience turned us off so much we will no longer be going to this establishment. It is especially sad because the previous owners of our house used to frequent that same location back in the 1950s! I guess the tradition has ended for us. read more

Atmosphere and decor is amazing. The staff is super knowledgeable and really friendly & funny. The cocktail list is so good and has something for everyone & their food menu is amazing as well. I get something new every time and I haven't been disappointed yet. Owner supports many local causes and constantly donates to essential workers, hospitals, and etc. Easily the best bar in merrick and one of the best on Long Island. I wondered in here the other night after reading the reviews..... bar tender looked miserable. Cant blame him since i was the only costumer for the few hours i was there. Drinks are over priced for the area. Not much of a food selection. Decent bourbon selection. After sitting in here for a few hours i came to realize that this was the same crappy bar that was on this corner but with a make over. Save your time and money. First off, The blue eyed devil is an AMAZING drink! Love it, been surviving the covid shut down with this drink, along with great food. Im a hard cord old schooler when it comes down to grilled cheese, for me it was only just bread and american cheese, until i saw on the menu the loaded bae, I kept looking back at it for my first few orders, but never would do it, then the other day I was in need of a grilled cheese, I figured why not, I keep looking at this and reading it over and over, Let me tell you, there is a new grilled cheese in my life and its amazing! I love the loaded bae, I basically inhaled the sandwich and immediately texted the phone number to order from and told them, my exact words were "Omg. That. Sandwich. IN MY MOUTH so good!" read more

My first time attempting to give a local business my business. Stay away!! The staff is beyond rude and does not appreciate your business. First I'll start by saying I called to place an order, the lady Berneice was not personable, rude and rushing me off the phone before I could even talk. She said "ya what can I get you" I said do you need my name, number etc? I ordered fried pickles to go, which should take 5-10 mins max. She told me 20, ok I showed up 25 minutes later she didn't even acknowledge me at first and when she did told me they are still working on it give her some more time. To add in every individual in this place to be unmasked which I felt very uncomfortable with so I stood by the door with it cracked while I waited. I had a lady complain and speak under her breathe that I had the door cracked even though 2 mins before that she stood up and says she's leaving, but yet had to be rude anyway. The bus boy was coming in and out with the table stuff and condiments so it actually made it easier I held the door. She told berneice to tell me to close the door so accross the restaurant rudely she yells shut the door your letting the air in. 30 minutes later no pickles apology nothing. I told her forget the pickles cancel the order she said ok great. Again no remorse, no care for the customers. I asked for the owner which she said was not in until Tuesday. I would love for him to know his customers are being treated . Let alone a new one. After the negative reviews here I still wanted to support the local business but I will never return or give them a shot again. Terrible customer service. read more

loved this bar since it opened been there many times. great staff that's fun to chat with. also dog friendly which is a must for me. when ever I have friends from out of state visit this bar is our first stop and the face they make when eating any of the dishes causes nothing less then an organism face. read more
