Located in downtown Elizabethtown,this bar is know for their extensive bourbon collection. They have over 400 bourbons plus craft beers,cocktails and live music. Located in a 1887 building,the bar is split into 2 sections. One area is the main bar with seating and the other section offers a small stage with live music and seating. There are no food options but plenty of bourbons to try! I tried an 18 yr old Knob Creek that was one of their drink specials for only 9.00. My wife had an Old Fashion. In my opinion,this is your best option while visiting Elizabethtown to try bourbons at a good price in a historic setting. read more

We were looking for a local bar/lounge with a wide selection of bourbon as we were visiting Elizabethan KY in the heart of Bourbon country. We found this gem in historic downtown Elizabethtown. The selection was amazing and our bartender, Kelsey, was knowledgeable and friendly! I had an amazing dark beer called Dragon's Milk and my husband found one of his favorite hard to find bourbons, Rock Hill Farms We had a great visit and would highly recommend this spot! HUGE selection of bourbon!! It's really nice to be able to buy a drink or two of your favorite, whenever it's been out of stock in any liquor store for at least a year. My hubs loves Blanton's. BBT also carries Rowans Creek, (one of my top 3 faves). It's made by Willetts, is 101 proof, and Rowans is a creek my husband grew up playing in. He is truly an asset to the establishment in Elizabethtown, KY. Just a few miles down the road from the bourbon capital of the world, Bardstown, KY., Jason is doing it in the downtown square at Bourbon Barrel Tavern. Stopped in one night to listen to the live music and participate in Floyd Tap takeover. Drove in from Louisville - after a large car show that day in etown. Even though it must have been a long day with all the activities in the area the staff was still super. My husband enjoyed several beers and was beyond happy with them. ( sorry I don't drink beer but he went on and on and on about the selection ‍ I just nodded ) We had a great time and I believe the band was the Culpeppers. We didn't know ahead of time there wasn't food or food trucks around so we had to cut our visit short so we could get some food. Had a great time and can't wait to go again. read more

Absolutely the worst! DO NOT! We had enjoyed a few drinks before going across the street for dinner. When we came back after eating, we we're enjoying ourselves as adults do... the blonde bartender cut us off without an excuse or warning! Our friends were so upset they walked out, she then tried to put all their drinks on our bill hoping we wouldn't notice! We paid our bill, but they're still pending with 2 additional bills. I'm so disappointed in a tavern that boasts high reviews and has Bourbon in the name! We were prepared to stay the evening and drink with friends. I'll never darken that doorstep again. Had my first bourbon here! Great atmosphere and bartender. Taught me a bit about bourbon, helped me select a first bourbon to taste, and gave me a bit of background/history. Popcorn was available to help the booze go down a little faster, but I didn't feel pressured at all to have more than one drink if that was all I wanted. He even offered the option of bringing food back to the bar if we didn't want to miss the music or lose our seats. This is a great place in downtown Elizabethtown. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. There is a wide selection of bourbon and beers to keep everyone happy. Thursday through Friday's there are live bands, so get there early...this place gets packed. Sunday nights now offer Karaoke to finish off your weekend. Wow this place lives up to the hype. Went on a busy March Madness Saturday night to sit at the bar and watch the games. Gave me a drink menu immediately but was a while before they returned (but, they were slammed!). Picked a tasting from their menu and it was great. Also both bartenders checked in with me frequently to get my opinions, and offered theirs. Eventually led to further Bourbon orders and continuing interaction. Liked the establishment, great first impression, but when I order and old fashioned, I expect an old fashioned especially when an entire group of men order it. We were told that they didn't have any oranges....skip to after my entire table saw a local woman ordered her drink...ORANGES. Idk what it is but, if those oranges came in in the last 40 mins of my arrival, wouldn't it be a courtesy to let the customer know that they just received the oranges and offer that drink again? Not to mention that this was the ONLY old fashioned that was watered down and looked very light. I stayed in Elizabethtown to attend the Kentucky Bourbon Festival. We dropped in early on a Saturday evening at about 5pm. This is easily one of the best parts of our trip!
