Located in downtown Elizabethtown,this bar is know for their extensive bourbon collection. They have over 400 bourbons plus craft beers,cocktails and live music. Located in a 1887 building,the bar is split into 2 sections. One area is the main bar with seating and the other section offers a small stage with live music and seating. There are no food options but plenty of bourbons to try! I tried an 18 yr old Knob Creek that was one of their drink specials for only 9.00. My wife had an Old Fashion. In my opinion,this is your best option while visiting Elizabethtown to try bourbons at a good price in a historic setting. read more

We were looking for a local bar/lounge with a wide selection of bourbon as we were visiting Elizabethan KY in the heart of Bourbon country. We found this gem in historic downtown Elizabethtown. The selection was amazing and our bartender, Kelsey, was knowledgeable and friendly! I had an amazing dark beer called Dragon's Milk and my husband found one of his favorite hard to find bourbons, Rock Hill Farms We had a great visit and would highly recommend this spot! We will definitely stop back sometime! read more

HUGE selection of bourbon!! It's really nice to be able to buy a drink or two of your favorite, whenever it's been out of stock in any liquor store for at least a year. My hubs loves Blanton's. BBT also carries Rowans Creek, (one of my top 3 faves). It's made by Willetts, is 101 proof, and Rowans is a creek my husband grew up playing in. If you're questioning if you should come here, just do it. We'll definitely revisit when we come back through. Our service was also great. Thanks Paula! read more

As my mother would say, "Oh My...." Jason did a phenomenal job of supplying my with some of the greatest Bourbon Old Fashioned drinks that I have had. He is truly an asset to the establishment in Elizabethtown, KY. Just a few miles down the road from the bourbon capital of the world, Bardstown, KY., Jason is doing it in the downtown square at Bourbon Barrel Tavern. It is worth the stop on I-65 to enjoy a good drink! read more

Stopped in one night to listen to the live music and participate in Floyd Tap takeover. Drove in from Louisville - after a large car show that day in etown. Even though it must have been a long day with all the activities in the area the staff was still super. My husband enjoyed several beers and was beyond happy with them. ( sorry I don't drink beer but he went on and on and on about the selection ‍ I just nodded ) We had a great time and I believe the band was the Culpeppers. We didn't know ahead of time there wasn't food or food trucks around so we had to cut our visit short so we could get some food. Had a great time and can't wait to go again. read more

Cool place, friendly and a huge selection. If you'd like to try it and can't find it, they have it here. It's nicer to pay for a shot to find out you either like or don't like the expensive bottle you're seeking. Waited 30 minutes to pay our bar tab while biggie with beard and the other two bartenders passed by completely ignoring us. Traveled across the us to bars in over 30 states and have never had such a poor experience. Just completely trash service. read more

Absolutely the worst! DO NOT! We had enjoyed a few drinks before going across the street for dinner. When we came back after eating, we we're enjoying ourselves as adults do... the blonde bartender cut us off without an excuse or warning! Our friends were so upset they walked out, she then tried to put all their drinks on our bill hoping we wouldn't notice! We paid our bill, but they're still pending with 2 additional bills. I'm so disappointed in a tavern that boasts high reviews and has Bourbon in the name! We were prepared to stay the evening and drink with friends. I'll never darken that doorstep again. I'd rather hang outside with the homeless lady that hunts through their trash! read more

Had my first bourbon here! Great atmosphere and bartender. Taught me a bit about bourbon, helped me select a first bourbon to taste, and gave me a bit of background/history. Popcorn was available to help the booze go down a little faster, but I didn't feel pressured at all to have more than one drink if that was all I wanted. The bar itself was a very friendly place, with locals abounding. Tuesday night is rare bourbon night and tastings are available. Be sure to stop in and make sure to take advantage! read more

Bourbon Barrel Tavern is one of my favorite bars in the area. The knowledgeable bar staff is extremely friendly and attentive to each customers needs. Sometimes the bar can be very busy on the weekends and is probably the go to bar downtown in Elizabethtown for music, drinks, and a fun time with friends. Excellent bartender, excellent selection of bourbons and they had live music! They do not serve food here, but our bartender was able to suggest several wonderful places for us to try for dinner. He even offered the option of bringing food back to the bar if we didn't want to miss the music or lose our seats. This is a place we would definitely return to on our next visit to the area!! read more

This is a great place in downtown Elizabethtown. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. There is a wide selection of bourbon and beers to keep everyone happy. Thursday through Friday's there are live bands, so get there early...this place gets packed. Sunday nights now offer Karaoke to finish off your weekend. The owner is working on expanding this place, so I look forward to how that plays out. This is normally my favorite place to stop for a drink. read more

Wow this place lives up to the hype. Went on a busy March Madness Saturday night to sit at the bar and watch the games. Gave me a drink menu immediately but was a while before they returned (but, they were slammed!). Picked a tasting from their menu and it was great. Also both bartenders checked in with me frequently to get my opinions, and offered theirs. Eventually led to further Bourbon orders and continuing interaction. I live in the 4th largest city in the US and there's no place like this. Thumbs way up for this fabulous bar read more

Cool little spot near the square in E'town. Joe (Security) let me in even though the place was PACKED and even asked if I was ok/having a good time as he walked around. Then there's Sarah...super sweet BarStar who actually remembered my name when I returned on Sunday for karaoke. Liked the establishment, great first impression, but when I order and old fashioned, I expect an old fashioned especially when an entire group of men order it. We were told that they didn't have any oranges....skip to after my entire table saw a local woman ordered her drink...ORANGES. Idk what it is but, if those oranges came in in the last 40 mins of my arrival, wouldn't it be a courtesy to let the customer know that they just received the oranges and offer that drink again? Not to mention that this was the ONLY old fashioned that was watered down and looked very light. Seemed like a race thing..."Oh, we just got our oranges in the last 5 minutes", after I paid for my tab. read more

A lovely space on the square, all brick and vintage-industrial coziness, with big big windows looking out on a sunset reflected in the faces of the buildings across the street. Good tap list, good bottles. We stopped in shortly after the 4:00 p.m. opening, and the place filled up fast. We had assorted Rhinegeists and a Bourbon Barrel stout, and maybe a few other things---who can keep track? The guy next to us at the bar drank a bottle of Michelob. I stayed in Elizabethtown to attend the Kentucky Bourbon Festival. We dropped in early on a Saturday evening at about 5pm. This is easily one of the best parts of our trip! Brandon and the servers were excellent! The atmosphere was laid back and inviting. The bourbon selection was supreme! I would definitely return! read more

The bartender returned and my partner explained that we weren't sure what we wanted to order, that it was our first time in and asked if there was a menu we could view. The bartender responded with, ''no menus, it's easier that way''. I was taken back by not only the comment, but the tone of her voice (clearly not happy with our request). I turned to my boyfriend and said, let's go somewhere else! The speakeasy wasn't crowded, but, was part of the Elizabethtown St. Patrick's Day bar crawl. I don't believe that should have any effect on the regular menu or quality of service. We were disappointed with our experience (lack of) especially on such a special day. We skipped down the road to Bourbon Barrel Tavern and received excellent service and tasty cocktails.

There are nearby parking lots with plenty more parking. As it was a Sunday, we had no trouble finding parking. There were a few people ahead of us, maybe three different parties. My partner and I did not have to wait to be seated since the friends we were meeting had already arrived and got a table. We greeted our friends then reviewed the menu. Since it was around 12ish on a Sunday, only the brunch menu was available. Not long after, our waitress arrived to take drink orders. Shortly after that, and after the drinks arrived - pineapple mimosas, apple juice, and water, we ordered our food...mostly everyone had a burger. I had the Texan burger/sandwich which came on a Texas toast, hence the name, and my partner had the Newberry Smash burger (double). Each came with a choice of "regular" fries or tots. I wanted sweet potato fries, but again, since it was Sunday, only the brunch menu and what was displayed was available. So, I settled for regular fries. My burger was good albeit a bit messy with the sunny side egg running everywhere! The bacon topping the burger was perfectly done with the right crispy/crunchy consistency. My mimosas was refreshing except I did not get much of a pineapple taste. The fries were fresh and appropriately seasoned, not too salty and not too bland, just right. We were all full from our meals so we did not even consider dessert! The restaurant was busy but not overly crowded, so the atmosphere was quite. We sat by the windows and were not even distracted by the outside vehicles passing by. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and would recommend J.R. Neighbors to anyone looking for good burgers in a good atmosphere in Etown.

Unfortunately, our second visit was a completely different experience. We were served by Lily at the bar, on Monday night, June 8, and from the moment we sat down, it felt like she did not want us there. She had an unfriendly attitude throughout our visit, and when we asked for our check, she slammed it down on the table. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was that our group, which consists entirely of minorities and Servicemembers, noticed that she appeared significantly more attentive and welcoming toward other customers who were Caucasian. While we cannot speak to her intentions, the difference in how we were treated compared to others around us was noticeable and left us feeling unwelcome. It was disappointing, especially after how much we enjoyed our first visit. One outstanding employee brought us back, but one negative interaction was enough to make us decide not to return. Thanks, Lily. Hope that management does something about this because she should not be allowed to work in customer service.

Weeknight in February. Walked in, no one was hosting. A couple of servers saw us but kept talking…read more Stood there like fools while staff walked around. Eventually we were seated but didn't have a server until we flagged down another server and asked who our server was. Later saw our server yakking away in the kitchen while drinking a pop. The pizza was ok. Not bad, not great either. Prices were ok, too.
