This welcoming place will blow your heart away. Selections of beer is amazing I love the "Rice, rice, baby" more on the lighter side. Flywheel also has a good variety of IPA. Atmosphere 10/10 if you're looking to kill time they have a lot of games to choose from. Can I say! Dog FRIENDLY!!!! and I can proudly say LGBTQ+ friendly. I nice little brewery tucked away in the heart of Downtown Elizabethtown Kentucky. Parking is limited here so do try to get here at a decent time, there is also street parking. They do have pop up food trucks that come here, if you want to know, just follow their Facebook page and you can also have nearby Impellizeri's delivered here. I have had their flights and I really can't choose a favorite beer however, Mangolorian has been a hit with me. It's one of their fruity IPA's and I'm not an IPA person however, I will make an exception here. I am impressed with the service and selection of beer for such a small brewery. Definitely a place I would visit when visiting Elizabethtown. read more

After touring mammoth cave, we find this cool neighborhood brewery. Great staff, great brews and delicious Cuban food truck. I had a delicious sour (taste like a Jolly Rancher) and stout (yummy). Hubby enjoyed his ipas. Loved the local vibe. Nice place! read more

I quite like this brewery! They make what my fiancé calls "the best beer in the world." I don't know which one he's referring to, but I'm sure it would be a fun endeavor to try them all and find out. One of my favorite things about it is that they always have a seltzer option, at least every time I've been there. I really don't like beer, and having a seltzer option lets me not have to be DD every time we come. They have a nice indoor and outdoor space. They have a little section in a corner that has really comfy couches that you just sink into (my fave). As far as food offerings, they have some assorted chips you can get, and they'll sometimes have a food truck. The trucks have always been solid. One time a lobster roll truck came. It was a literal 3 hour wait for a roll (testament to how starved Etown is for food variety, but that's neither here nor there) so I did not get one. Overall this is a cool place to come, and I'll definitely be back over and over. read more

We came to E-town to have drinks specifically in the Cavern Club, but decided to start out at Flywheel brewing. Very cool place with a relaxed vibe and lots of board games around. I fact on a trip to the restroom I found a mural of "The Dude" from "The Big Lebowski" staring at me. Loved it. My wife and I each got a flight of beer samples. These beers were all good in my opinion. Ended up getting a pint of the Rye. The bartender was great and gave us great advice. One thing I think they need is a "neutral" tasting snack to clear your palate between different beers. Something like plain potato chips or plain pretzels. They did have snacks all of which were fine to snack on. Unfortunately the were all very strong flavors. Nacho cheese, cool ranch or chili flavored. Like I said yummy snacks, just not the best for trying different flavors of beer. Love the place and would go back anytime. read more

I came to Etown to celebrate a friends birthday and this is the place she chose! It is a quaint little brewery, that offers many beers. They have locally brewed and then also outside beers. They even offer other spirits, like wine and bourbon. It features a wrap around bar with table and couch seating on each side of it and there is also outdoor seating. Plenty of games to keep you and your group entertained, and also two dart boards. I know they have food trucks on site from time to time, although there wasn't one on the night we were there... but they do allow you to bring in your own food. It is right next to the police station- so don't get wild up in there! LOL read more

Great seating in and out, as well as an open outdoor space complete with life size JENGa and cornhole! Dog friendly -- which was a major plus being a local dog lover, my puppers were welcomed with open arms by this establishment. Very nice little brewery in Elizabethtown. I went there with some friends for the first time on a Friday evening around 5. It was a little busy but not too bad. They have a variety of beers that are brewed there and a variety of others. I tried the Y U Triplin? and the Brown Recluse. Both were good. The first was really strong and the 2nd was very smooth. The atmosphere was really cool. The bar was plenty big enough and there were several tables for groups. There was also an area with sofas and chairs. An outdoor area was available and had corn hole games. I will definitely be back and look forward to trying more beers. read more

I was able to stop in here on a Friday night and the place stayed fairly busy until midnight, so that was cool. I wasn't too sure what to expect from Elizabethtown, but Flywheel is off to a good start. I met some friends, but the crowd kept changing; some would leave and some new ones would arrive. I think I had 4 beers while I was there, but no food...that's not their thing. One server was knowledgeable and and the beer selection was very good. It wasn't too easy to read the chalk boards, but I survived. When I say "knowledgeable", I mean having an immediate answer to a question like this: "Can I have a local wheat beer, please?" One server knew what I was asking and another wasn't really sure. I feel like a beer place should have bartenders that can always answer that question. The atmosphere and decor is a little cluttered, but there are lots of options for sitting and being social. I wound up coming back as they were closing because I left my debit card. Such a cool brewery in Etown! This was essentially my first trip to Etown as I usually just drove through, but Flywheel was recommended so I dropped in. Bartender was super friendly and willing to discuss all of their beers as well as the ones on tap from other breweries. Sadly it was pretty much lost on me because I lack the fortitude to appreciate a good craft beer. This is not the place to come if you want a bud heavy or another boring ass beer. But they have a decent selection if bourbon so that kind of makes up for it. Will definitely return eventually. read more

I visited Flywheel over the weekend. I had a tasty coffee stout. My husband tried a few different beers and seemed pleased with everything he tried. I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. Typical brewery atmosphere - industrial look, allows dogs, bar and table seating. The only negative is that one bathroom was out of order. The only available bathroom was a mess. Toilet paper all over the floor, but none on the roll to be used. read more

The beer was decent. The patrons were friendly and far from the pompous neckbeards the industry often attracts. The place has got a great vibe for a craft beer oasis in a craft beer desert. There is a food truck here, Kats - every kind of German sausage you can eat, and poutine. I'm taking my beer to the outdoor gravel lined patio, three 6-seater picnic tables and a jiant jinga stack. The first brewery in Elizabethtown!! Hooray for Flywheel!! They are located in the downtown Etown area off mulberry, you can't see them off mulberry unless your looking. The building has a great industrial rustic vibe, but I love their pop culture art throughout the building in the bathrooms and just the overall atmosphere is just laid back and chill with a hits of hipster. They have books, card games and reading material in the lounge area, which is great for social gathering or just to hang out and read a good book wit great beer. I love their different craft beer options and that they explore different flavors and type of beers. The names of the beers are just as great with names like "decapitated monkey" , "rye'd on rye'd on rye'd" and "Hey Porter"gotta love the pop culture references. They have beer and yoga, trivia nights and even some bands/musicians come out and play here. This has become my favorite new place in Etown, great beer, fun events, great atmosphere and local. Flywheel Brewing may be a bit of a drive from Louisville but once you try the beer, you'll be glad you did. Started off on a bad note when I messaged the brewery on Facebook, asking if they were dog friendly. A short wait and they replied that they did not allow dogs inside the brewery but we could hang out on the patio. That was disappointing but we were already on the way with our 4 legged friend. Once we got there my girlfriend waited outside with the pup and I went to get some beer. The bar is an "L" shaped bar with 8 taps of their brew and 8 guest taps. There were only 4 of their taps filled so of course I had to try them all. They offer flights which I love, so you can try several different beers and not get hammered. The bartender, Kelly, was super friendly and knowledgeable about the beer. I got my flight of 4 and went outside. No sooner than I sat down Kelly came outside and said that she was told they do allow dogs inside. I liked her answer better so we gladly came in. That will probably need to be clarified before we go back. They have several tables and chairs set up as well as a few couches in the front corner. There looks to be plenty of room to expand the tasting room with more seating in the future. The bar itself is made entirely of wood as well as wood trim all throughout the tasting room. I saw a few board games to play as you drink but did not partake this time around. They do not have a food menu but offer chips and sodas for $1. The beer menu is building. With only being open for a few weeks, they're just getting their feet wet. The 4 taps of their beer that they did have flowing did not disappoint. My favorite two were the Rookie and the Tun Tavern APA. Tun Tavern was made using hops that were grown here in Louisville. I like local businesses using local businesses! I will give them a couple moths to fully fill up all 8 taps but I will for sure be returning to try out their future brews!! read more

I decided to stop in and check out the place after spending the afternoon at the county clerks office. They open at 4, but I arrived at about 3:30. The bar tender opened up early and got me a drink. The place looked beautiful and had a bier garten similar to the ones in Europe. It was a nice, welcoming environment. I ordered the Golden IPA and it is probably one of the best IPAs I have had in a while. It was bitter and sweet, a nice level of carbonation and all around good taste. We stoped in as part of our road trip and we arrived accidentally before their posted opening hours. The girl working (I think her name is Breanna) was so nice and let us in early. She was very friendly and even let me borrow scissors so I could cut my jeans into shorts because it is much hotter in Kentucky than I anticipated. 10/10 would stop again. read more

I was at Flywheel Brewing attending a painting class by Ms. Bowerbird. The bar was small and had a very industrial and masculine atmosphere. Most of the patrons seemed to be regulars: middle-aged, blue-collar men stopping by for a drink and a chat after work on their way home. I was a little intimidated as I am just a young woman who knows almost nothing about beer, but the bartender (I didn't catch his name, but he was very tall and blond, and wore a waistcoat with both sleeves pulled up to reveal tattoo sleeves) was very approachable and made me feel comfortable. I was asked by my table of girls to get some wine for them, however they do not offer wine. Just beer. Duh. The bartender was nice and could have laughed at me, but he didn't. He recommended a few brews on tap that had similar tastes to a sweet wine, and even let me try a sample before I bought a full pint. I appreciated how knowledgeable he was about what they offer and was impressed that he found something we could all like on his first try! Unfortunately, I forgot the names of the brews I tried, but they rotate their taps quite often. I didn't drink more than a few sips of some of the stuff on tap, and I do have to say it was quite good. And I'm not a big fan of beer! I probably won't be back just for the beer by myself, but I would definitely come back for other events hosted there or if a friend wanted to go! read more

Always have an amazing time here. Staff is friendly and attentive. The guy that brews the beer kinda reminds me of Homer Simpson, but he defiantly has skills on the brew side.
