Sunday, 18 January 2026 Met friends at J.R. Neighbors for lunch. According to my friend, the have the best burgers in Etown! ‍ There are a few parking spaces directly in front of the restaurant (maybe 5, with 2-3 slots being reserved for handicap). There are nearby parking lots with plenty more parking. As it was a Sunday, we had no trouble finding parking. There were a few people ahead of us, maybe three different parties. My partner and I did not have to wait to be seated since the friends we were meeting had already arrived and got a table. We greeted our friends then reviewed the menu. Since it was around 12ish on a Sunday, only the brunch menu was available. Not long after, our waitress arrived to take drink orders. Shortly after that, and after the drinks arrived - pineapple mimosas, apple juice, and water, we ordered our food...mostly everyone had a burger. I had the Texan burger/sandwich which came on a Texas toast, hence the name, and my partner had the Newberry Smash burger (double). Each came with a choice of "regular" fries or tots. I wanted sweet potato fries, but again, since it was Sunday, only the brunch menu and what was displayed was available. So, I settled for regular fries. My burger was good albeit a bit messy with the sunny side egg running everywhere! The bacon topping the burger was perfectly done with the right crispy/crunchy consistency. My mimosas was refreshing except I did not get much of a pineapple taste. The fries were fresh and appropriately seasoned, not too salty and not too bland, just right. We were all full from our meals so we did not even consider dessert! The restaurant was busy but not overly crowded, so the atmosphere was quite. We sat by the windows and were not even distracted by the outside vehicles passing by. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and would recommend J.R. I stopped in here this afternoon for lunch while I was in the area. I want to try it for a little bit. I got a single smash burger with fries, and I picked it up as a carryout order. I walked in was eventually greeted by the host and he gave me my food. I asked for ketchup and ranch to be included in the bag. Unfortunately, it was not in there. The burger itself was pretty tasty, but very salty for some reason I don't really know why it was so salty. The fries were very plain. Nothing to speak about. I didn't finish them overall. I wanted a steak salad and the hangar steak salad was amazing. The dressing is light and the steak is plentiful. Came with blue cheese, fried onion, peppers and tomatoes. The flavors were so good together. We also had fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese on too. So good! read more

Which for truffle fries at an up charge was disappointing. And our server did bring us a variety of sauces to dip them in, which definitely helped elevate them. They were delicious and I hope they'll offer the already dressed option in the future I heard that was amazing! My fiance got the en fuego burger and loved it! This was my first visit to J.R. Neighbors. I was with a large party of associates from work. The location was convenient, and parking was not too bad. I ordered the Ancient Greens and Grains salad with the salmon. The waitress asked how I liked my salmon, and I told her medium. When the salmon came, it was dry and rubbery. The grains were very chewy. My spouse had a burger and commented that it lacked flavor and seasoning. Even the tater tots were bland. One of the other people in our party commented that this was their second time at this location and that the food's flavor was meh. Stopped here for lunch during our roadtrip. We even lucked out finding a parking spot along the main square on a Saturday afternoon. We picked this spot just based on Yelp reviews, but heard from locals you just can't go wrong here. Daughter had the tater tots and macaroni and cheese. There's no photo of the fries because they were cool when they came out so I asked for new fries. Server was apologetic and got me new fries super fast which was awesome! They were good too! Asked for burger medium rare got it medium well. So that's why 1 star off. The fried green tomatoes app is super yummy and I recommend that over the deviled eggs. The eggs were good but not a hit out of the ballpark. If you love pimento cheese - get the fried green tomatoes. The s'mores dessert was just ok. The Notta burger, made with chickpeas, herbs, and spices was lightly fried and served with cucumber (which I thought was a little odd), shredded lettuce and Aleppo Chile aioli was a 7.5/10 on my veggie burger scale. Smoked Bourbon! It feels like a speakeasy when you walk in to the smell of smoked bourbon. The Elizabethan is a group favorite. When we are in Elizabethtown, we make time to have dinner or drinks here. You can also get other bourbons smoked if you don't want the Old-Fashioned version aka the Elizabethan. Service is great. They don't take reservations, and we usually walk in with a group of 6-10 people at peak dinner hour. The longest we have ever waited is 40 minutes, and 15 minutes is more often the case. Seating is a mix of booths, high top tables and regular tables. The bar is always busy. With their fun cocktail menu, I'm surprised at how quickly drinks come out. They do have happy specials on weekdays for beer and wine. Draft beer selection is decent and features several local craft options. Fave appetizers- fried green tomatoes definitely top the list! Very crunchy, great flavor. Deviled eggs are excellent, and the rotating selection keeps it interesting. Down and dirty tots make a great shareable appetizer. I think we have tried all the entrees. My personal favorite is Oh My Cod. I usually don't even eat the bun, and the fish filet is a rather generous size, fried to crispy perfection. Initially we went to the speakeasy and decided to eat first and went upstairs to J. R. Neighbors. First off we were greeted and seated promptly. Our server, I think her name was Z?
