My husband and I came up for Garlic Fest and walked around town. We found this not-so-hidden gem and had to go in because of the biscuits and gravy signage outside. This is my husband's favorite breakfast. The biscuits and sausage gravy were amazing, in my husband's expert opinion. ( having consumed this dish almost everywhere) I had 'just avocado toast' (their no egg version) and it was very good. I suspect the bread was freshly baked and not from a commercial bakery. Now let's talk about the important thing. The coffee. They have a coffee, hot or iced called the 'Sweet Bourbon Brew'. I figured I was unlikely to get freshly roasted coffee with bourbon syrup from the nearby distillery anywhere else and went for it. It is AMAZING. I would come back just for this. Now, the restaurant itself. Live music on a Saturday morning. Kitschy, eclectic decor that was obviously quite intentional, and a DOLLY PARTON CORNER that has obviously existed for quite some time. Their motto appears to be a Dolly Parton quote. "If you see someone without a smile give them one of yours". Yes. It's that kind of place. Bourbon Café and Coffee Saloon is a charming little local café with an inviting, homey atmosphere that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in. It's the kind of place you instantly know you'll want to return to. This was our first time here and we were go glad we made the little trip down to Bourbon, MO! We ordered the bacon and egg panini, and it was cooked perfectly. Whatever homemade seasoned butter they use deserves special recognition--it added so much flavor and made an already great sandwich even better. Of course, the dessert case was impossible to ignore. Everything looked incredible, and choosing was no easy task. We finally settled on a pecan brownie and a sea-salt chocolate chip gooey butter cake slice. Both were fantastic, but the gooey butter cake completely stole the show. Hands-down, it was the absolute best gooey butter cake I have ever had--and I've tried many from plenty of bakers over the years. This single slice may have changed my outlook on life. They've set the bar so high that I honestly don't know how anyone else could top it. Warmed up just as the owner suggested, it was melt-in-your-mouth perfection with a tender, flaky crust and incredible flavor. Absolutely phenomenal. It's hard to describe how transformative this café is -- stepping inside felt like being transported straight into a scene from a Hallmark movie. Eclectic, warm, and inviting, it's the kind of place you instantly want to linger in. The owners are wonderfully personable and friendly, making you feel like a regular from the moment you walk in. Even the fellow patrons greeted us like old friends, adding to the small-town magic. Dogs resting at your feet, scratch-made food filling the air with mouthwatering aromas -- it's charm in the most authentic form. The zucchini muffin was so good we immediately bought four more to take home. The paninis were perfection: crisp, buttery, and dressed with herbs right on the crust. The "Three Blind Mice" grilled cheese, Avocado toast, and the PB&J were absolutely incredible. What a sweet place. I'm a worship pastor and I'm leading worship for a camp at Mihaska. The environment is so cozy and feels 'small town' (which it is) in a very special way. The staff incredibly personal and kind and we were here on a Saturday and there was live music and it was full in here. The Bourbon coffee was incredible and the sticky bun was massive and delicious. Yelp has a limit of five stars. This place is clearly a 10! When you enter, the aesthetic is both rustic, and polished. The tables are adorned with colors that pop, from the pink Himalayan Salt in the shaker, to the crystal clear water pitcher, to the splash of green from the small plant on the table. Upon entering the restaurant, you will be greeted by Dolly, a small, gentle, well-groomed dog that escorts you to the register. The wait staff is attentive, gracious, warm and welcoming. I ordered the eggs Benedict and it was the best eggs Benedict I've ever had. if you're a fan of that dish, you have an experience until you've ordered it here. I also got a bagel with cream cheese. The cream cheese was fresh and it was covered in a drizzle of local honey also fresh :-). make sure that you try the bourbon coffee, I had it cold, and it was light and delicious; chocolate-frosty and cool. We had two brief conversations with the owner, Michelle. Michelle epitomizes top-notch customer service. She's proud of her restaurant and she told us it's history. She invited us twice to stay for live music at noon but we had to get back on the road. You can stop in and get something to go quickly, but I encourage you to take your time and soak it in. You wont regret it. This is a special place and we are sure to visit again the next time we cross the country. read more

I visited this special cafe on June 27th, 2026, on my way back to Chicago from Branson, MO. I cannot say enough positive things about Bourbon Cafe. The owner, Michelle, was so welcoming. She did an excelling job telling us about their specials. It was obvious not only were they passionate about the quality of their ingredients, but so much love and thoughtfulness went into every food item and beverage. The coffee is roasted on site every Wednesday and is delicious (and refills were free for dine-in customers...waitresses were coming asking if you'd like a top off regularly). My husband had the Cuban panini with a cup of chicken noodle soup (amazing) and I had the Three Blind Mice panini "dilly dilly style" with a cup of their curried squash soup (also, all amazing). We weren't planning on getting a dessert, but after everything else was fantastic, and you see the desserts in the display counter...you just have to! We split a piece of their Reese's Peanut Butter Triple Chocolate cake...served warm with a side of homemade whipped cream. Let's just say, I'll be dreaming about that cake for the rest of my life! But above the delicious homemade food, desserts, and coffee was the heart of the cafe. This is a place you come and sit and make new friends. The seating is set up for you to stay a while and share a table with another smiling face and have conversations--face to face. I don't think I saw a single person alone scrolling on their phones or on their laptop. We met a lovely local gentleman named Dennis who came and sad with us. He was so kind and told us so much local history. We left feeling refreshed and cared for. The quote on the back of the waitresses' shirts is one from the great Dolly Parton, "If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours." And let me tell you, everyone we met there lives up to Ms. Parton's sentiment. Oh, and I must say the decor is so warm, cozy, and just downright cute! Michelle was super accommodating to us given that we came by as she was cleaning up after closing. She not only offered to serve us a wonderful chicken salad sandwich with drinks but told us about her business. She is a proud owner of this wonderful cafe! Besides the great food and drinks the ambiance of this place was western meets elevated cafe. The Dolly themed corner by the restroom was beyond cute! Michelle exemplifies what a true hostess is by making sure we were fed and fully accommodated before we left(even though the cafe was closed!). Michelle cares not only about her business but her neighboring businesses as she made sure to give them glowing reviews, prompting us to visit the health food store next door. This is NOT a cafe. It's a coffee shop. They have some food items, but don't go in thinking you'll sit down and eat a meal. It's just a coffee shop. You walk in and it's clustered. Lots of stuff everywhere. You order at the register and they bring the food to you. They have limited seating and the seating the have is shared. Like one large table and a few tables around with some bar seating. I was there with my husband, he ordered a breakfast scramble and I ordered a panini sandwich. He was served and finished with his meal before I got my sandwich. Their food service is not very organized. The sandwich was good but nothing special. The coffee is very good. Knowing it's just a coffee shop I would go back for the coffee, but not the food. read more
