Best Cajun food in the area! We go to the one on 1781 Sharkey Way, Lexington, KY 40511, for better parking. Awesome food and service.

Shrimp etouffee?? Lumpy thick paste. Texture is not good.

This place used to be legit. Not sure if it's the owner or employees but quality is horrible. The food with sauces across the board are way too thick. Seriously, why would anyone serve reheated flour paste as a sauce and expect repeat customers. Texture is very mealy and pasty. Chili is acceptable. The shrimp etouffee had a a fair amount of shrimp but the sauce ruined it. Last couple times here was the same. Probably won't try again . Not sure how they survive serving pasty gruel. Look at the other pics and it's not hard to tell this is not how Cajun(or any) food should look. Most show the overly thick paste I describe. I guess if you have never experienced Cajun or Creole you have no reference. But, I don't understand anyone defending this as decent food in its current state.

The new Bourbon & Toulous is an upgrade. Brighter, outdoor seating and plenty of parking. Knowing how busy they'd be today, Fat Tuesday, I ordered the Swamp Dog online for pickup. A Spring-like day, I ate outside. The gator sausage was so generously topped with crawfish etoufee I had to use a fork. Messy, but delish. 34

The portions are generous, the prices are great, and the staff are wonderful! Perfect spot for anyone craving a taste of New Orleans in Lexington!

Always have loved this place. This additional location needs love too. For once I didn't go Cajun, and got the chili cheese dogs with onions. They have a unique chunky chili sauce for the dogs. The Cajun power garlic on top just makes this a win all around. Come enjoy!

I've been to the OG Bourbon n' Toulouse location a few times and love it! I guess technically I've been to this location before it became a Bourbon n' Toulouse. In fact, I reviewed this location back when it was Gumbo Ya Ya https://www.yelp.com/biz/gumbo-ya-ya-lexington?hrid=5F5j3n4_G5d_JwDNegMblA&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct) But I digress. Bourbon n' Toulouse has my heart because of two things, the Vegan BBQ Jackfruit sandwich with Vegan Coleslaw and the Vegan Black Beans. BTW, the coleslaw comes on the side of the sandwich but I totally recommend putting it directly in the sandwich. YUM! https://bit.ly/3RtMia0 Also, this is a "small" size of the black beans. Generous portion! https://bit.ly/456qyUK How much do I love Bourbon n' Toulouse you ask? The night before coming here, I was at LAX airport waiting to board our redeye flight already thinking about the delicious meal I was about to have once we got to Lexington. I purposely ate "lighter" foods all day just so I could indulge myself for dinner. So worth it! These dishes are already very flavorful on their own but it's also worth checking out the variety of hot sauces available. The main difference between this location and the OG location is that this location is bigger and has a parking lot. Same great food, same great service. Worth the stop each time we're in Lexington :)

Vegan jackfruit sandwich with vegan coleslaw and vegan blackbeans!!

Great experience with trying Boubon n' Toulouse. They do have limited vegan options, offering two options, the Jackfruit sandwich with vegan coleslaw and the vegan blackbeans, so I tried both :-). They did offer tofu creole but there was not a big demand for it. I would love to see another vegan option with tofu. I was advised that the owners were vegan, so I am hoping more options will make it to the menu. The vegan black beans were yummy, I added the vegan coleslaw to my blackbeans, as the slaw was spicier than expected, but the blackbeans helped mellow out the spice. I had not tried Jackfruit before trying the Jackfruit sandwich, but it was a nice, hearty sandwich with great flavor. The bread was crispy, yet moist with a nice chew. Overall, the food was great and the staff were very warm and very helpful with advising of dishes that would suit my diet. Also, there is Ale 8 on tap. Oh, how I love coming back to KY! Definitely, no Ale 8 on tap in DC!! There was a steady crowd of patrons, which you can deduce was due to the awesome food and service. My only tip would be to check on the restrooms a little bit more frequently, as the toilet paper was getting low and a good mop of the floor would present more of a tidied facilities. #vegan #creole #Cajun #ale8

The food was great! It was a group of us that stopped in for lunch. We are all walks of life so it was nice to have vegan options. I had the jackfruit, coleslaw and bag of chip. It was definitely good, and i think we all would definitely come back. They had enough seating to accommodate us, the person taking the orders at the register answered all of our questions and pointed us to some of their favorites as well as popular dishes. Also the food has a kick to it which was great for our group, we were definitely in the right place.

I've been saying that I wanted to try this place out and I finally did. It was worth the hype! I actually ordered a to go and it was amazing, 1st - order the extra bread. The bread was buttered to perfection and delicious (I know they get it from a local bakery). Also get the 1/2 & 1/2 plates so you can try a little of everything. I ordered the chicken etouffee and the gumbo. They had a little spice to them but everything was delicious. The picture looks messy but amazing. Even though I didn't go there and ordered it out the little note on the bag had me laughing (which I really needed that day) so thank you to that person. I am definitely going again and next time going in. I can't wait to try the jambalaya & any specials they may have going on. 10/10 recommend

Very casual yummy Cajun casual restaurant with several vegetarian options. The food is very hot but if it's not hot enough for you there are several hot sauces to add. Very lovely order taker, great service. They even offer 1/2 orders!

I came by today for a late lunch since I've heard so many things about this place from coworkers and people whom I've met from Lexington. The interior is a funky vibe, and lots of decoration on every wall and corner of this place; there are plenty of tables and seats if you want to dine. As for me, I ordered takeout to eat in my car (lol). [I brought my dog with me, and I hate leaving him in the car or sitting outside since it is much hotter today compared to the last few days' weather]. I ordered the restaurant's famous chicken etouffee and a Diet Coke. I was not as hungry as I thought, but I wanted to try this place. The etouffee was good but needed more rice and protein in it. I mostly had the sauce and less meat, which I looked forward to more protein as I ordered a full plate. This is a new location for Bourbon n' Toulouse, and plenty of parking spots are nearby. I had a different expectations before coming to this establishment, but I enjoyed my dish. It's a decent spot.

Great food and very very friendly staff. We love coming here. The food came out very fast and was hot and tasted fresh. If your ever in the area and want some good authentic food this is the place to be,

As for customer service they really are on point. I've been there a total of three times so far and every time they've been friendly and patient. Plenty of seating indoors and on the patio. Instead of making customers feel appreciated, they made me feel like I needed to rush through my order and get out of the way. Dining out should be an enjoyable experience, not one where you feel like you're inconveniencing the employees. I ordered the chicken piccata after asking the employee for a recommendation. It's a classic Italian dish that's typically served with a light lemon-butter sauce, tender chicken, and thin pasta. What I received was nothing like that. The pasta was made with oversized noodles that completely overwhelmed the dish. Even worse, there were so many thick strips of onion that they looked like more pasta. After digging through the mountain of onions just to find the chicken, I finally took a few bites, and the flavor was incredibly disappointing. The sauce lacked the bright, fresh taste you'd expect from a chicken piccata, and the entire meal was heavy, unbalanced, and simply unpleasant. I couldn't even finish it. After only a few bites, I threw the meal away and walked out. It's extremely rare for me to abandon a meal, but this was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. Do yourself a favor and pass on this restaurant. Between the unfriendly service, the rushed atmosphere, and the disappointing food, there's simply no reason to spend your money here when there are so many excellent Italian restaurants to choose from. I won't be returning, and I can't recommend it to anyone.
