I think the bar area or the outside patio are the spots to be at this restaurant. Service was great even with it being super busy. It was so busy that the manager was helping out to make sure people got out on time for the comedy show next door. Always nice to see a manger who cares about customers to the point he's willing to jump in and help. Their bread with dipping oil is fantastic and it's very difficult to refrain from eating a ton of bread. I ordered the ahi tuna but swapped out the wasabi mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts for their risotto rice which was delicious. I've been to Palmer's Fresh Grill many times before, but this visit didn't quite measure up. I ordered the ribeye steak medium rare, and while the flavor was fine, both the steak and sides (mashed potatoes and asparagus) were served on the cool side, which was disappointing. The calamari appetizer ended up being the highlight of the meal--crispy, well-seasoned, and enjoyable. I liked the peanut sauce. Service was adequate (barely) but nothing memorable, and the atmosphere was tough to enjoy. It happened to be children's night, and the noise level was off the charts. Between the underwhelming service and the loud environment, it just didn't feel like the same Palmer's I've come to expect. I love this place. They were helpful when we thought we would be late for our reservation and let us move it back 30 minutes. This is one of my top fish places. I had the Mahi Florentine and it was to die for. I was so full, that I couldn't order dessert. My grandson had a burger which I suggested to be done medium. Their medium was not as done as I expected. It should have teen medium-well. My wife got the fish tacos that were so good that my daughter and grandson wanted her to share. My daughter got mini burgers (which can't be under cooked), that were not as good as the fish tacos. My daughter and wife shared a bread pudding with ice cream. My grandson got an extra ice cream. I never leave reviews but I feel this one was warranted. My husband made reservations for two for the patio. Upon arrival, we were told there "may" be a table outside available. If not we could sit at the bar. This was odd because the reservation was made for the patio. After being seated, we waited 10 minutes before ever being greeted. The server never told us her name, just asked for drink orders. Took another fifteen minutes for drinks. My husband's iced tea came with no ice. We didn't say anything. Fearing that we may never see our server again, we placed an order for an appetizer and our dinner order. Our appetizer came out alongside the dinner. Last night two of my friends and I went to Palmer's to celebrate one of my friends' birthday. It wasn't stifling hot outside so we opted to sit outside so that we could enjoy the view of the lane. I definitely recommend sitting outside if it's possible. I had the peach sangria to drink and it was light and refreshing--perfect for a summer evening. We split the calamari for an appetizer and it was good--not huge portions but the peanut sauce was a tasty change from the typical marinara sauce that you get at most places. I had the Caribbean chicken salad as my entree and it was okay. It wasn't served with very much dressing but I was able to get more from our server. I had a taste of my friend's shrimp and grits and it was outstanding. I would definitely recommend that next time! read more

The awesome aspect of this restaurant is definitely the great outdoor atmosphere. A little spot of serenity in the heart of "don't want to drive there" Lexington. The inside is nicely decorated as well. My food was just OK. I ordered the Club sandwich. The turkey on the club was worse than some I've had from fast food restaurants. Along the lines of processed pasteurized meat. Very gross and unexpected considering the price point. We loved the bread and dipping oil and my husband enjoyed his burger and truffle fries. He gave it an 8.5 out of ten. Our server was wonderful. However, getting seated was a process. Apparently the hostess had no clue as to what the situation was outside and had to go have a long conversation with a waitress and then had to go and get our table settings. Just seemed awkward and unprofessional for a nice restaurant. We were confused as to why the giant fans outside were pointing at the patrons sitting directly under the outdoor ceiling fans - none of which were turned on. Seems like a no-brainer to have the fans on low for those tables and use the large fans for the rest of the outdoor patronage. Fighting off the flies during our meal was a definite downer. There is also an amazing bar on the water with TONS of ceiling fans. The next time we go, we will definitely be sitting there! An excellent hang out space for drinks and snacks. Lunch for 2 was $50 plus tip. The restaurant is located on the backside of Lexington Green. There is an ice cream place next-door for dessert but their pricing is crazy high. Palmers saved the day with my birthday dinner! We had originally chosen a different place for dinner however after being seated for twenty minutes with no one checking in on our table we decided to leave and try elsewhere. Palmers was able to get us seated immediately. I explained what had happened and that my daughter (being one) was getting fussy from not having eaten yet. They brought her meal out within five minutes of us being seated. Our server stayed on top of everything. There were frequent table touches, refills, and assurances on quality of food. We sat inside but their outdoor patio area is beautiful. I definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants a quiet, enjoyable, yummy meal. read more

We ordered a bunch of stuff including the Caribbean chicken salad, the palmers burger, palmers mini burgers, champagne chicken, and truffle sidewinder fries that were one of my favorite things. The fries were so crispy and fragrant with truffle oil plus the addition of Parmesan on top makes us 10x better. We also asked for the house bread that came with olive oil and pesto! Some down sides were the Caribbean chicken was missing a few things that were described on the menu. The champagne chicken was lacking flavor. But everything else was really good! They also brought out a brownie for one of my best friends birthday. When we arrived we were taken to a beautiful patio area overlooking the water. The Kentucky Mule and Old Fashioned with Vanilla Infused Makers Mark, were outstanding! We started with side salads (not listed on the menu) that were crisp and fresh with a delicious house made feta vinaigrette. I had the pork chop- thick and juicy and too big to finish. We sat outside to view the pond and thoroughly enjoy the fresh air (also, bring bug spray if you attract all the mosquitoes or bugs as I do). My friend and I ordered a couple of cocktails each as the weather outside was hot and humid. We ordered an on-the-rock margarita. As for the main entrees, I ordered the aged ribeye 14 oz. (medium-rare) and my friend ordered the French Quarter fettuccine. Both meals were delicious, and I highly recommend these options if you visit this establishment. For my dessert, I love the classic crème brûlée *thumbs up* There are plenty of parking spaces outside the building, and it's free. Finding this restaurant can be tricky, but if you come in from the front of the"shopping center," you will have to go through the bookstore, to the bottom floor, and head left, where I found the entrance. read more

Very nice interior, big open clean windows overlooking the lake. Nicely decorated with high back booths. The seafood queso is fabulous, just the right amount of spice with nice hunks of seafood. I heard great reviews about Palmers but was fairly disappointed when we ate there last night. I will give a high vote for the ambiance as it was a beautiful location but the service and food quality was lacking. After sitting down and reviewing the menu I didn't think they had any kid meal option as a kids menu wasn't given to us (we had our 6 year old with us). We had to request it and they said they had to print one out. It took a very long time to get this menu back so we had to just look it up online so we could be ready to order her meal with ours when our waitress returned. I then had questions about the Diablo pasta and how spicy it was. The waitress mentioned it definitely had a kick and being pregnant I didn't want anything too spicy. So I went instead with the French quarter fettuccine instead because the name didn't signify it being overly spicy even though I saw both pastas mentioned Cajun in the description. I guess the waitress assumed I didn't want any Cajun seasoning at all so when the pasta came it was extremely bland. I had to put salt and pepper on there just to enjoy some sort of flavor. (It took quite some time for my waitress to return to request salt and pepper as they don't have these sitting on the tables) I also ordered a chicken Caribbean salad as I was intrigued with the ingredients. The salad tasted good but definitely had a significant amount of lettuce to salad dressing ratio so I had to request more dressing just to truly get the taste. I also have never heard of charging extra for cheese on a burger before. Our receipt showed a $1 charge for cheese on my daughters mini sliders but my husband omitted cheese on his adult mini sliders entree. Also when we ordered our waitress asked if we wanted fries with the kids order and we said yes but the receipt showed it was an upgrade rather than the standard. We also saw there was a locked Wi-Fi option to connect to but when asked what the password was we were just told she didn't know it. I won't say our waitress was rude at all though. I think the biggest issue was just communication. It wasn't "overly" busy in my opinion to where it may have just been one of those "off days" but I definitely was not impressed as others have made it seem their experiences was. read more

We arrived promptly for our reservation at 7:30. We were greeted by a very unenthusiastic hostess who seated us in a booth in the back of the dining room although the place wasn't crowded at all. We sat there a full 15 minutes with no acknowledgement from anyone. There were several servers milling around but NO ONE spoke to us. As we were leaving we told a manager at the hostess stand that we had waited for 15 minutes without anyone speaking to us. His response was "which table were you sitting?" No apology. We have dined here before on several occasions and the food is usually good, but the service is definitely lacking. We should have stuck with our fave - J Alexanders in the Summit, where you can always receive excellent food and top-quality service. It will be a long time before we give Palmers another chance. read more

We told them no, they finally had our waitress come up to us. We only saw her three times - to have our order taken, to have my drink refilled, and to hand us our check after we had to ask the hostesses. Our food had to be given to us by someone else. Meanwhile, our server was more than happy to wait on the big table next to us. She was constantly coming over to check on them while we were not more than one foot away from them. This restaurant seems to be well-known by Lexington locals, but I had never heard of it before my friend's birthday dinner. It is tucked away in Lexington Green-- so much so that many of the guests had trouble finding the entrance and arrived late. From what I could see, those who arrived on time were well taken care of with drinks, menus and waters were ready and on the table when I arrived. Considering we had a party of 8, the waitress did an amazing job. I found it slightly odd that we were sat at two separate 4-top tables adjacent to one another instead of one large table, but with the birthday guest sitting near the middle, it didn't cause any major issues. We ordered promptly and the food did not take long to come out. I had the Lexington Pasta Gnocchi-- decent, but needed more seasoning. The waitress was very accommodating and quickly brought out black pepper when requested. A friend ordered the Alaskan cod sliders and enjoyed them, but raved more about the soup she had ordered while waiting for others to arrive. Overall, we enjoyed our time at Palmer's. The food was decent, but more importantly, my friend had a great birthday dinner. They were very accommodating to our large group size and didn't let the late arrivals affect the overall night. One of the guests came straight from work and was dressed very casual (as a Taekwondo instructor).
