Between our trips to Las Vegas, The Gal and I like to check out some local talent here in Phoenix - but we have to be careful as we are both professionals and we need to keep our anonymity. A good thirty minutes from us at Thomas and 32nd Street is Bourbon Street. We met another Phoenix couple at the Palomino Club in Vegas a few months ago and they gave this club a glowing review - so we decided to see for ourselves. Since the Palomino is the standard by which we judge all the clubs we visit, it is only natural that we will compare and contrast based on what we consider the "couples gold standard" of strip clubs. I called ahead; asking about any sort of packages available and the hours the club tended to get busy. They do appear to answer the phone outside of the actual club hours (at least they picked up my call at 10:00am). The woman at the other end of the phone was knowledgeable and friendly. I was informed there were no packages, but VIP services were available. More on that later. Location and Parking Just off of the 51 in south Phoenix, Bourbon Street is pretty easy to get to. Google Maps looks like it wants you to turn off a side road to get into the parking lot, but both entrances are right off Thomas. We were warned the area looks a bit seedy (and to be honest, it does). The club's exteriors aren't going to win any awards - there are no real aesthetics to speak of; no theming or branding really to be had here. Nothing wrong with that (after all, it is what is inside that you probably care about), but after seeing the presentation by Christie's Cabaret? We may have been spoiled a bit. Parking is free and abundant. We saw no sketchy elements coming (about 7pm) or going (about midnight). It is pretty well-lit and feels safe enough; neither my wife nor I felt uncomfortable there. Going Inside As with most clubs, there is a large floor area and a bar. One wall is filled with six TVs (three flanking the left and right of the main stage) - playing various sports and television (The Gal and I prefer not to be distracted; we love it when clubs have music videos and things that augment the dancers; not pull your attention away from them) and most of the seating is designed to all face the same way. The floor is very open and has about 30-40 tables (is there some place special that makes "strip club chairs"? I swear every club has the same couples-unfriendly seats - free advice? Figure out a table-friendly couples 'love seat') and the bar would probably accommodate 20-25 people. The dancers seemed to hang out at the bar a lot (and we found out why later). Much like Alaska Bush Co. here in Phoenix, there are three stages at Bourbon Street; a main, larger stage and mini-stages on either end of the floor. When we got there, only the main stage and "Stage 3" were open. The dancers start on the main stage, then move each song to Stage 2 and finally Stage 3. The music was quite diverse; from pop to rock and a little hip-hop and you'll hear songs from the 90s on up. That will likely be a turn off to some people but we appreciate diversity in all things. One thing most reviews do not discuss are things like the bathrooms. There are no attendants here (for better or worse) and the women's bathroom is literally on the other side of the dancer's dressing room (meaning you have to walk through it). Great if you're a bisexual lady like The Gal here, but even so - my wife felt she was being a bit invasive to go to the bathroom. Worth noting that the ladies' room has 3 stalls and both of us decided the bathrooms were clean and well-kept. Last thing before we move on ... The announcer was actually clear and you could easily make out the names of the girls coming to the stage. That sounds silly to mention, I know, but at a lot of clubs it is often hard to hear and if you love the dancer performing for you? It is harder to ask for her by name if you would like VIP time. We're going to cover the VIP area in a later section of the review. The Staff and Drinks We really enjoy meeting and getting to know the staff at the clubs we go to. Pretty simple math (and this doesn't just apply to strip clubs); be nice and friendly and typically customer service staff will give you better service. We arrived about 7:30pm (early for a strip club) as we usually do when we're looking over a new-to-us club. We paid $10 each as a cover charge; the woman at the payment window could have been a bit more personable but it was fine. Absolute best strip club in Phoenix. Nice & dark inside but with well-lit stages which is exactly how all strip clubs should be. Staff waitresses bouncers & bartenders are all just way cool, no snotty attitudes here. Dancers are consistently all beautiful here & friendly. My fave at nite is a petite redhead who calls herself 'Scarlett'. A perfect figure w flowing red hair and the sweetest smile I've ever seen from a dancer. PIZZA is as good as HOT DAZY'S PIZZA ON 6th St. and Roosevelt. The atmosphere is super, the entertainment is to die for. Showing my buddies who were visiting from out of town a good time in AZ, and Bourbon Street did not disappoint. I had my doubts because of going early on a Thursday but when we entered, the time and day was not an issue. We were greeted by security who was very polite and informative. Took a seat and was greeted by a very pretty server who informed us that we just arrived for happy hour, well worth it. Drinks were two for the price of one, no complains their. So here we were early Thursday afternoon (happy hour) and I counted at least 10 girls, who were all gorgeous, in very good shape, polite and had great stage presence. The club itself was very clean, upscale with low lighting. So fellas if you have to entertain friends from out of town, men or women take them by Bourbon Street you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend this club. Much deserving of five stars. Oh FYI I counted at least four couples, meaning men bringing their wives are girlfriends. First night out in Phoenix: So after walking out of The Candy Store (don't go there with a Smoking hot woman!) the Wife and i decided to try another place. Bourbon Street was the place for us! Although we were the only couple in the place, we did not feel uncomfortable. Drinks were reasonable ($9) 2nd night out in Phoenix: We met up with some friends and decided to head back to bourbon. My friend knows the hostess and had them sit our group of 4 up in the VIP area. I was a little surprised to only get $4 change after buying the first round of 4 drinks with a $100. But I quickly realized that they were charging $24 for the exact same drink we got for $9 the night before on the main floor. (That's more than the Sapphire in Vegas) I must say the hostess was great really helpful in finding girls to come sit with, and dance for us. Maybe that's what you get for paying $24 for a jack & coke? ALL of the girls were all 7-10's We (mostly the wife) had a number of dances in the booths up in the VIP area. Most of the girls were fun and had no problem dancing for the wife (they almost seemed to enjoy it) The wife's only complaint was the women's bathroom was hard to find and slightly awkward on first visit. The hostess certainly made us aware of the Private VIP room but at over $350 per 1/2 hour the economics did not seem to work for us. We (the wife) seemed to be just fine in the booth. Best strip club in Phoenix... no contest. Went here tonight after writing strip club reviews all day which sparked a debate among my friends - we decided to check it out since none of us had been here before. And why the fuck haven't we?? I'm pretty picky and I'll just say that every girl in here is good looking and has a good body. Even the least attractive girl here would be the best looking girl in most other clubs in town. Many of them are downright beautiful. Cover was 8 bucks, there wasn't a drink minimum (but drinks were as pricey as any other club) and dances were 10 bucks... VIP was 20 bucks and wasn't terribly private, but it was nice. My girlfriend got some good dances and we spent our 80 bucks so quick we had to make another run to the ATM before we had even been there an hour. The place has 3 stages and the girls have to rotate to all three which keeps them from being available for awhile and that's kind of a bummer. It's nice though because there's always something to look at. There are a LOT of girls here too, so you won't be sitting there forever waiting for someone to ask you if you want a dance. I was told that the management here was great too and most of the girls I talked to had worked at other clubs but found this one to be the best by far. This place is a little more laid back than other clubs... the girls don't go crazy with the pole dancing - guess when you're hot you don't have to. At first I thought they were just looking bored, but when they come around to chat they light up. This place is more about mingling than watching a show. Bourbon Street blows the doors off pretty much every club in town and even ones in Vegas. let's get this out there, more of a disclaimer. I may be a guy BUT i'm not of the straight persuasion, so, my experiences are based on how I felt at the time. I've been to Bourbon twice, both times with a friend, a straight girl who has a thing for the ladies. Yea, it's dimly lit, um, no, it's dark. There's a $5 cover, and they serve free popcorn (which i gotta admit is kinda good). My first time at Bourbon, I didn't really involve myself, I sat there like a creeper, staring, not because I was turned on but more like I was taking in the experience. My most recent visit though I decided I was gonna have fun, so, I decided to base my tipping on how the girls looked (for example if they had killer stripper shoes, nice lingerie, killer pole dancing moves, etc.). It was fun, and it was nice to small talk with the girls. They're all professionals, some are great with their moves, others are lackluster but they are all enthusiastic. I did appreciate that a majority of the girls I saw dance did not have fake cleavage. We stayed until last call, my friend got one of the girls to bring her back to the "office" for a dance, from what I heard it was $$ well spent. Will I go back? yea, it's fun, I just got to be in the mood for it. Of all the strip clubs in Phoenix I've been to, Bourbon Street is the one that always calls me back. Granted I've only been to a handful, albiet mostly the popular ones, this one is the best. They have countless girls dancing and they are all really really friendly... and not that shiesty friendly where they just want your money (they have a few of those too) but actual genuinely nice people. I was the only one out of about 7 people sitting by the stage that could get the girls bra off with one hand. They all tried and failed, I put one hand behind her back, and SNAP! Came right off, and then I wore it on my head for the rest of her dance as my titty champion crown. They give out free popcorn, the beers are at least decently priced, and they have three states with the girls rotate through. You're seeing someone new about every 3-5 minutes.
