    Cubano nachos
    Amy C.

I really enjoyed Coabana!! We went here before an event downtown. Started with the nachos which were delicious. Our server was so amazing. I ordered an affogato and they were out of ice cream so she ran to CVS quickly to get some to make me one and it was delicious! I got the guava and cheese empanadas which sounds like a weird combo but they were great. It's a skinny small shaped restaurant but it has a great vibe and I would recommend checking it out if you are downtown!

Came here cause saw it on the Rest site to use my credit and all I can say is OMG so good. O got the Coabana Espressoitini and shared the Cubano sandwich, Ropa Vieja Empanadas, and the guava and Cheese Empanadas. Food 10/10 eating the sandwich I just kept wanting more and same with the Ropa Viejo empanadas. The sandwich was full of flavor and was juicy with a nice subtle crunch to the bread. The empanadas crust was just the right amount of crunch but still soft and pillowy flakey texture and the sprinkled seasoning on the outside and the delicious flavor inside will have you wanting more. I enjoyed the guava and cheese empanadas no complaints but they don't leave you craving more the way the other 2 dishes do. The dipping sauce for the ropa viejo is amazing too, reminds me of chimichurri sauce. I definitely will be coming back for this sandwich and empanadas. I do wish the serving size was a little bigger 4 empanadas would be better than 3. The server/bartender was great, she checked in on us multiple times and seemed to have great timing with checking in. The atmosphere is great, the soft pink coloring with some plants does remind me of my visit to Cuba. Very chill laid back spot. Recommend as a great date spot. The food menu options are limited as it's tapas not meant to be a full entree. They also validate for the parking garage which is really nice, added bonus so you done have to find an open metered street parking.

An incredible place for a small bites and drinks! I love empanadas and really enjoyed the ones they have. We shared the Picadillo Empanadas and Pork Masitas with plantains. The empanadas were light and crispy. We also tried the Chef's Special Empanada which was pizza that night. It was okay, but we preferred the Picadillo more. I had the Coabana Mojito con Guava, which was yum. Loved the food, drink and ambiance here and would def come back. Oh, and there's a cute small speakeasy inside which was nice and convenient for after dinner! Masitas- $18 Empanadas- $16 Mojito- $15 + $1 (flavor)

I was in town visiting Scottsdale and Phoenix for the weekend, and a friend recommended this spot. I'm so glad we came here for dinner and drinks before our concert at Chase Field. It truly felt like a hidden gem! It wasn't too crowded when we arrived, and I immediately loved the music, decor, and overall vibe. I went with a group of four friends, and we all ended up ordering the same thing: the Picadillo Empanadas and wow, they were amazing! We also shared the Pork Masitas appetizer, which came with house-made guacamole topped with roasted pork. We added plantains on the side, and it was the perfect combo. Coming from a Colombian family and being a big fan of Latin food, I can confidently say this place passes the flavor test with flying colors. We didn't have time to check it out, but there's also a speakeasy hidden inside, which sounds so fun. One of the cutest touches was the postcard they give you with your check. They'll even mail it out for you! Such a unique detail. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town.

Loved it here. When you walk into the restaurant, it's like you walked back in time to the 50's in Cuba. I love eating tapas style so I can try everything. Some of the dishes had a little spin to it. I was expecting one thing and it came back different but that's not a bad thing. It was still very good. Everything we ordered was great. I would definitely come back. I drove all the way from Scottsdale to here to try this place and I'm very happy.

It's been awhile since we had been to Coabana. There have been some changes since the last time we were there. There is definitely a Cuban feel here. Across the back of the bar are large gold banana leaves - so cool! There are little niches in the wall in front of the booths with painted tiles that form pictures of palm trees and parrots. The walls are pink and the checkered floors look perfect with the Cuban theme. There are some large paintings on the wall. And Pit Bull watches over everything from up high. Our server, who was the bartender, was super friendly. This is a bar with food, rather than a restaurant. It looks like a lot of the classic drinks have the usual liquor retrieved with rum--and I love it! We had: *Bay of Kings (cocktail) *Beach Better Have My $$$ (cocktail) *Pork Masitas with plantain chips *Cubano The drinks were delicious and really presented in a fun way. My drink even had an edible dollar bill attached. The food was good, and the Cubano was really big. I like this place a lot. I've enjoyed coming back each time and will continue.

Amazing food, great bartenders, creative craft cocktails. Overall great service and amazing cool Vibes. Make sure you order multiple orders of the empanadas ( your gonna need them) Also ask the Bernard behind the bar to whip you up a bartenders choice drink, he's so creative and will hook you up!

This place is my jam, if it screams tropical, I'll be there! Hand me a pina colada and I'm a happy camper! I love how close this place is to phx arena, this will definitely be my place before any concert or game. Their pina colada was delicious, add the rum float! My friend ordered their original mojito, she enjoyed her drink too. It was very fresh and not too sweet. We shared the ceviche with half plantain chips and half tortilla chips. Next time, I would only order the plantain chips. They are so delicious. The ceviche was fresh and full of flavor. We also shared the guava and cheese empanadas, yum!!! I loved the cream cheese and guava together with the chipotle dipping sauce. Beautiful handmade empanadas for the win. We sat at the bar and had a wonderful bartender helping us, very friendly and knowledgeable on their menu. Thanks for a great experience, See you next time!

Coabana is a vibe!!! It's a Cuban inspired, lounge with a tropical feel. It's cozy, and makes you feel like you're in Miami or what I picture Havana would be like. We went to grab food and drinks before the Lainey Wilson concert. It's the perfect location because it's super close to Phoenix Arena, only a few blocks away. The drink menu is fun, lots of RUM drinks! I had the Coabana Mojito and my friend had the Pina Colada. Both were delicious and looked so good too! The food menu is full of Cuban dishes with latin flavors. We ordered the ceviche with a combination of plantain and tortilla chips. The ceviche was fresh, with lots of flavor. Next time I would order it with all plantain chips. They were crunchy, slightly sweet, but also savory and salty, yum! We ordered the Guava and Cheese Empanadas, they were delicious and came with a side of chipotle dipping sauce. We will definitely be back! The service was great, very friendly! I want to try the Yuca fries and a key lime pie shot. My husband has his eye on the Cubano sandwich. This place is a must try!

    Cubano sandwhich
    Melissa L.

Only came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. Yes, the space is cute and Instagram-worthy, but that's where the positives end. I am usually not the type to write low reviews, but I am very upset with the dining experience. Ordered the Cubano sandwich for $16, and let's just say it was all looks, no flavor. Way overpriced for what tasted like a sad deli sandwhich. The plantain chips were also so salty. Service was so inefficient and they charged a 20% gratituity for our party when they barely checked in on us. They probably knew that since our party was so huge that they didn't need to tend to us bc of the automatic gratituity per their policy. Had to keep looking for a server to just get a glass of water refill. Also the water was very very smelly like sink water. To top it off, they don't validate parking. So not only do you get a mid meal, you also get hit with a $30 parking bill. Hard pass. Would not recommend.

Always a favorite place to go to when downtown . A quaint little place with old school Miami vibes . I love sitting at the bar and watching them create colorful libations .Having grown up in a Latin family , it's super hard to find any authentic food here is the valley and this one is a hidden gem worth seeking out if your down town on and adventure There is also a speakeasy next door which makes it a fun destination on many levels

What I got : Drink: Lei it on me Food: Guacamole with plantain chips and tortilla chips Best guac I've ever had hands down 1000000% soooo darn good and fresh, I'm not a cocktail drinker but decided to have one for the tiki pop going on and it was good place is so nicely decorated and the service is quick and efficient love this spot

Must try their Key Lime shot! Stephen mixed up a couple for us and you will not be disappointed. Amazing. He also recommended the Banana Guava Bread pudding which we shared and was delicious. Great vibe, highly recommend.

Does this restaurant have its own parking lot?

They do not. They are located in downtown Phoenix surrounded by several parking garages. I'm not sure if they still validate.

We had a party of 10 and it was so fun. We all had drinks a some people ordered food. Due to party size there was auto gratuity and only 4 cards max. The bar is in the basement of the hotel. When we got there though it wasnt very clear that it was there. We got there a little early but the accommodated us nicely. Originally there was going to be 9 people but I asked day of event if I could bring another person and they said yes. The drinks were so good. Th divine feminine tasted like Jamaica drink with the hibiscus. Then I had the happy birthday Mr. President. Oh. My. God. It didn't even taste like alcohol it tasted like vanilla ice cream I'm so serious. It was delicious. Then I had the siren drink. That one wasn't bad at all. We all had a great time and shared laughs and everything. I love the setting of it though. It's a bit dark so we had to use phone lights to see the menu. But it feels like stepping into a whole new world once you enter. I think it's perfect for hanging out. Date night. Anniversary dinner. All of it. Our server was nice. Very friendly. I think he could use a little more on his hospitality just because sometimes I feel like he didn't know what to say exactly. A little disappointed that there wasn't really anything special for a birthday though. Not even a little card on the table that said happy birthday. Just a thought. Other fine dining establishments I've been in did.

He then confirmed we were still within the happy hour window and offered to bring us a menu. They used to have an extensive happy hour menu featuring several drinks and food items and now their "happy hour menu" consists of a cheeseburger for $22. Not sure that that really constitutes as a happy hour menu... I asked him why they changed the menu and he put up his hands as if to say he's not to blame and said he doesn't have anything to do with those decisions. He said that "management decided to make a few substitutions but they're pretty good" and didn't provide any further elaboration. I ordered the appetizer lamb lollipops which had four small pieces for $25. My friend decided to try the "happy hour" cheeseburger and he said it was good but it did appear a bit overpriced for an average burger with a pretty hefty serving of french fries. I really wasn't impressed by the quality of the food, the portion size, the price, or the service. Unfortunately, I'll be taking Rough Rider off my list of regular places i frequent and restaurants I recommend to others.

It was busy, but not packed, which made the service stand out more than it should have. I had to ask for water twice, never got a refill, and overall felt largely ignored--minimal eye contact, no real warmth, just an impersonal feel that didn't match the space. It felt like a place that may be a bit of a victim of its own success--popularity has grown, but delivery hasn't fully kept pace. Part of the appeal here is the permanent taco truck outside, which I know from past visits is excellent, and I love the truck's outspoken, unapologetic support for immigrants. That said, the cocktail itself was excellent. I was specifically looking for a coffee-based drink before heading to another event, and the Cambures al Estilo Foster delivered on flavor. It was tiny, though--served in a small stemmed glass, gone in a few sips. It did the job, but some may find the portion underwhelming for the price. No major complaints, but nothing pulling me back either. I'm adding a fourth star on a bit of a hunch--I'd like to think they can dial it back in if I return.

The double portions were really nice since our party was so large, we needed to split the food between 4 different grills (so each table got 2 grills each, feeding 6-7 people in total or 3-4 people per grill), but then we had to share the portions where we only got one serving. It wasn't bad, but to me, didn't make sense. The food was really good though; I didn't care too much about the soup, but the green sauce was SO good. Mixing a little with the soup was incredible. I thought the beef and pork were really good. I personally left the restaurant full, but many others in my party did not. I think it's a really good amount of food for 2 people, but when you push to 3+, you probably do not want to come hungry. Also--the live music at Pemberton next door is SO LOUD, you're going to be shouting at your table the entire night when you sit outside. I think I would come back if I wanted to show this place to someone who didn't live here, but it isn't on the top of my list for when I'm trying to eat out, but I will definitely consider this for special date night occasions. It is extremely expensive for what it is though. For $70+ you risk the chance of leaving not full which SUCKS.

I wouldn't say we had the best experience. The food was pretty decent, but they brought my friends…read morefood out and then mine. Mine was wrong so it had to be sent back and the chicken had to be added to my salad-which took like 20 minutes. Our entire experience create us to be an hour late to the concert next-door. The bartender was kind and was interested in making sure we had the beverage of choice.

This was a fun little surprise! My friends and I just wanted to grab a drink after a long day of…read moretravel, and this was the bar at the hotel. This place had VIBES. We were very comfortably dressed, and no one looked sideways at us, but there were definitely people dressed to the nines! There was a party of women next to us, that were celebrating a birthday. We obliged them by taking their pictures all over the instagramable bar. Ryan was our waiter, and he is tops. Made some really good recommendations and was welcoming and attentive. I was just there for the drinks and enjoyed a lovely glass (or two) of wine, but my friends were feeling more adventurous and ordered some of their inventive cocktails. Including a couple of "Shot in the Dark" which could be ANYTHING. Also a burger was ordered and then brought up repeatedly for the next two days. According to him, it was possibly the best burger he had ever had. His face lit up at first bite. The menu is a mishmash of interesting options and the whole experience was not what we anticipated. In the best way.
