Update! Went there a year ago and it was fine. Went there this weekend and it blew me away-especially with the peanut butter frosting on the moistest cake I have had in ages. The eggplant fries were on point, and the chicken parm was excellent. The place has changed in the best of ways. read more

Pizza AND family friendly - a winner for Belfast. If you haven't been in to the new version of Bowen's it is time to give it a try. Orders are placed at the counter and you take your drinks and buzzer to your table. Kids can head off to the arcade section before or after their meals. The pizza sauce is very good, not too sweet and the thin crust was also very good. I had the meatball sub- homemade meatballs, tangy sauce , plenty of cheese and a soft roll. Onion rings were forgettable, lacking taste. If you have kids with you this is a great option. For us, two adults without kids in tow, it was a bit too arcade-like to make this a regular spot. Recently visited this restaurant on a Thursday night 3 couples in Restaurant. Was told they had a big order and pizza would take an hour or longer. We were hungry so we ordered Burgers. Worst burger I ever had dry and tasteless. A couple that came in behind us got pizza and it came out same time as our burgers. We were not locals so disappointed at how we were treated. Not friendly and quite rude. Gentlemen behind counter looked up and said we are busy just wait after waiting 1/2 hour for 2 burgers. Cost 50.00 what a rip-off don't eat here. My husband and I finally stopped in and had a regular thin crust dough pizza and gluten free cheese sticks. Both were excellent. We can't afford to go out and eat very often, so we appreciate being able to have an excellent meal when we do. Thank you for a wonderful high quality meal. Five star pizza in a three star location. That's sums up our trip to Bowen's Pizzaria & Deli, late on a Sunday afternoon. When we arrived the server told us that they had no 16 inch pizza doughs left and only three 12 inch doughs. She said it had been a very busy day! So we quickly settled on one of their Specialty Pizzas - a 12 inch Meat Lovers for $18.00. It was fantastic! As with a good sandwich - the bread makes the sandwich - and the same goes for pizza - the dough makes (or breaks) the pizza. This dough was unlike anything I'd ever had. It was not thin crust, nor like a thicker hand crust. It was firm, a bit chewy, almost like a sourdough or good wheat bread. It was a great undercarriage for what topped it. Let's talk toppings. It starts with a very flavorful and slightly thick (in consistency) red sauce. Then a bit of mozzarella cheese, but this pizza was about the meat, not the cheese, so it was almost not noticeable - which was a good thing and was one thing that made this pizza more remarkable. The meat was very good quality and there was lots of it - large, tangy slices of pepperoni, coins of sliced Italian sausage, crumbled hamburger, and bacon. It was simply the best meat lovers pizza I have ever had (and those who follow my reviews know that this is a seldom used phrase by me, reserved for truly "the best"). I paired it with a good IPA from a Portland, Maine brewery and absolutely enjoyed the dinner! So despite the three star interior and exterior of Bowen's, their Meat Lovers Pizza earns a five star rating! read more

Finally a fantastic pizza place in Belfast. Usually I am a pepperoni pizza fan - but i went off script and tried their veggie pizza and added spinach and ricotta. Its now my new go to - got this to go twice and ate in another. All three times totally amazing. I also tried their italian grinder - they nailed that too. All was great - BUT review would not be complete unless we did not make special "shout out" for our server who was amazing and she is also is owner! This is a typical sports pub where you order and pick up at the counter. It was quiet on a Wednesday night, but still had nice vibes. In the weekend it is probably more lively. Super friendly staff and our BLTs were tasty, huge, and loaded with bacon. It's a few miles outside of downtown Belfast, which was fine because parking and traffic was not a problem. read more

If you come for bfast, all I can say is Bloody Mary's. You get a checklist of choices, you decide what goes in from celery to smoked mussels, they make it, you love it. The breakfast food is very good too (but those bloodies....mmmmmm!). This place seems to normally be a bar that is only open for bfast on Saturdays and Sundays (I suppose to help their patron's hangovers).
