    Chicken Parm

Update! Went there a year ago and it was fine. Went there this weekend and it blew me away-especially with the peanut butter frosting on the moistest cake I have had in ages. The eggplant fries were on point, and the chicken parm was excellent. The place has changed in the best of ways.

Pizza AND family friendly - a winner for Belfast. If you haven't been in to the new version of Bowen's it is time to give it a try. Orders are placed at the counter and you take your drinks and buzzer to your table. Kids can head off to the arcade section before or after their meals. The pizza sauce is very good, not too sweet and the thin crust was also very good. I had the meatball sub- homemade meatballs, tangy sauce , plenty of cheese and a soft roll. Onion rings were forgettable, lacking taste. If you have kids with you this is a great option. For us, two adults without kids in tow, it was a bit too arcade-like to make this a regular spot. Bowen's takeout is a real option- Pizza, subs and sandwiches- all good!

Five star pizza in a three star location. That's sums up our trip to Bowen's Pizzaria & Deli, late on a Sunday afternoon. When we arrived the server told us that they had no 16 inch pizza doughs left and only three 12 inch doughs. She said it had been a very busy day! So we quickly settled on one of their Specialty Pizzas - a 12 inch Meat Lovers for $18.00. It was fantastic! As with a good sandwich - the bread makes the sandwich - and the same goes for pizza - the dough makes (or breaks) the pizza. This dough was unlike anything I'd ever had. It was not thin crust, nor like a thicker hand crust. It was firm, a bit chewy, almost like a sourdough or good wheat bread. It was a great undercarriage for what topped it. Let's talk toppings. It starts with a very flavorful and slightly thick (in consistency) red sauce. Then a bit of mozzarella cheese, but this pizza was about the meat, not the cheese, so it was almost not noticeable - which was a good thing and was one thing that made this pizza more remarkable. The meat was very good quality and there was lots of it - large, tangy slices of pepperoni, coins of sliced Italian sausage, crumbled hamburger, and bacon. It was simply the best meat lovers pizza I have ever had (and those who follow my reviews know that this is a seldom used phrase by me, reserved for truly "the best"). I paired it with a good IPA from a Portland, Maine brewery and absolutely enjoyed the dinner! So despite the three star interior and exterior of Bowen's, their Meat Lovers Pizza earns a five star rating!

Get there early and you will probably see lobstermen unloading crates of lobster from the nearby harbor. It's not waterfront, but in the late fall you can see the bay through the trees after the leaves fall! Bonus! We ordered a traditional Maine style mayo lobster roll and a buttered lobster roll for comparison. The traditional Maine style mayo lobster roll was absolutely perfect! Just enough mayo to bind the fresh, plump, tender sweet cold water lobster meat. Oh and no fillers, just lobster meat (mostly tender sweet knuckle/claw meat, mmmmm) and just the right amount of mayo. Same for buttered lobster roll, just the right amount of clarified butter as a binder. No need to overpower the fresh delicate flavor of tender cold water lobster from Maine waters. Both lobster rolls were presented on an over stuffed buttered and grilled hot dog style roll. Plated with fresh, hot ,skin on shoestring fries and some house made slaw. Delicious! Both rolls perfect! Hard to tell which one we liked better. Maybe slight advantage to the traditional mayo style, just cause thats the way we like it. If you cant decide, We recommend you get one of each, split with a friend, and judge for yourself. Either way you wont be dissapointed. The Bayside store is not just a lobster roll place. Its a great old world style small market with something for everyone. You can get just about anything from breakfast, to a burger, to fresh house made soup, to a great selection of local craft beers! As soon as you walk in through the swinging screen door you feel automatically welcome. Seems like the place where there is always fresh hot coffee on and friendly staff to greet you. There are relaxing benches and some hightop counters to relax and enjoy your meal or a cup of coffee. Weather permitting, there is also casual and comefortable outside seating. Oh and the staff was so pleasant and welcoming. Makes you want to come back and be a regular! Highly recommended! 5+++++ We will return! Again and Again!

Our order took over 30 minutes to prepare. Someone ordered two subs after us and were told it would be 1 hr and 15 minutes. There is definitely a more efficient way to run the kitchen. Used to be one of our absolute favorite places to go. I hope the new owners can figure it out so they can keep this place going.

The storefront is adorable with its red barn color and Victorian vibe, and inside you'll find cozy seating areas both indoors and outdoors, perfect for lingering a bit after shopping. The staff here are beyond friendly and helpful. In fact, this is the very place where the "blueberry pie survey" happened. We asked the lady behind the register where to find the best blueberry pie, and she started to ask customers who came by who they recommended. They directed us to Moody's Diner. Locals and staff alike are quick to share stories and recommendations, which makes it feel like you're part of the community even if you're just passing through. The store itself is full of surprises. They've got a wood-burning pizza oven (yes, in a general store, how cool is that?), hot lattes, teas, and other comforting drinks, because nothing beats sipping a latte in a Victorian-style shop while digging into a fresh out of the wood burning oven gooey cheesy slice of pizza. Add in their great selection of beer and wine, plus Maine classics like whoopie pies and Moxie soda, and you've got something for everyone. A local gentleman even gave me the full history of Moxie, and that kind of friendliness is exactly what makes this place so special. Outside, you'll find pretty flowers and herbs adding to the charm. Owen's is quaint, welcoming, and one of those stops that makes a Maine trip extra memorable. Definitely worth a visit or 5! I'll most def be going back!

After spending a full month traveling the Maine coast from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth, I found plenty of fresh seafood and scenic charm, but very few dishes that truly woke up my palate. Then I walked into Hey Sailor. This place doesn't hold back. The flavors are layered, intentional, and memorable--each bite feels thoughtfully built rather than simply assembled. There's a balance here between creativity and comfort, with dishes that feel both elevated and satisfying.
