I am a fool for freshly roasted turkey. Traci's offers it many ways: turkey club, hot open-faced sandwich, and a full on turkey dinner for lunch. The interior is well-worn and welcoming. French fries stayed hot and crispy until the last bite. For comfort food, this is the place. But I'll probably never order anything other than the fresh turkey. And, that's okay. Right on Maine st. My daughter, grandson and myself were playing tourist in Belfast today and stopped in Tracies Diner around lunch time. They serve breakfast all day which is really nice - and my daughter and I took advantage of that. I got the Hawaiian omelette, which has ham, Swiss and pineapple.... I got it because I because I have never seen that on any other menu! It was really good and I would order it again! It came with home fries that were really well done and crispy which I loved - my daughter would have preferred that they were not as crispy but she ate everything on her plate with her egg and cheese sandwich. The hot dog my grandson ordered was a crazy red color but my grandson devoured it and I have to say that the fries he got with his meal were probably the best fries I have ever had. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside without being greasy.... Those rate 5 stars by themselves. All in all / the service was good and the ambiance is a throwback to an old timey diner.... My wife and I stopped in on a quiet Friday afternoon for a meal. Coming from the diner capital of the world, New Jersey, I probably had my expectations set to high. We sat down below from the main dining area and sat in a booth. We immediately noticed the carpet was dirty from the day's activity. My wife ordered a blueberry muffin with an iced coffee. As coffee snobs, it was barely passable. I ordered the French toast with a side of sausage links. The French toast was very basic. Three slices of generic white bread cut in half triangles. Syrup was the thick sugary kind and not real maple syrup. The links were cooked a long time ago. I asked for bananas on top of my French toast and I was told they did not have any bananas. We asked if they had a fruit salad or a fruit bowl and we were told no. How does a diner not serve any fruit? The service was very friendly and good. Prices were reasonable. Traci's is located in the heart of downtown Belfast. There is ample parking on the street and some public lots nearby. Like I said, I probably expected to much coming from New Jersey. read more

You can find Traci's Diner at 57 Main St, Belfast, ME 04915 at the intersection of Washington St - about half way up the hill where Belfast resides from the harbor. There seems to be a lot of street parking and also a few scattered lots here-and-there. We walked the nearby Armistice Bridge winding down the Train Trail and back to the Belfast Harbor walk, finally winding up the street to take a look at this picaresque town. Looking for something simple to fill our bellies, our local host suggested Traci's as he'd eaten there several times in the past. Traci's occupies what appears to be a local house that's expanded over time - there's an upper seating area with a counter and a lower room for additional seating. The interior is painted white and kelly green with polkadots - very whimsical. The available dishes are what I think of as traditional lunch/diner plates and sandwiches, breakfast all day with a few seafood items thrown in. I asked for tea and to my surprise they had an excellent southern-style sweet tea (seems someone there had spent time in the south so they made it right and fresh). For lunch we each had sandwiches and fries - mine was a pastrami reuben that was pretty good, served on marbled bread and a pickle spear. Fries were served with local ketchup. Service was exceptional - we arrived about 15 minutes before closing (afternoon) and everyone was really nice about feeding us anyway, knowing we would keep them there past closing. The DIRTIEST CARPET I have ever seen in my life (and I'm old). We knew we should leave when we went down the stairs and stepped onto that carpet. It is truly unbelievable. I understand some locals like this simple diner and probably go there a lot. But it is truly disgusting. Not only filthy greasy black carpet but dirty tennis balls on all the chair legs, napkins and trash on top of that dirty carpet and food crumbs in the windowsills... the food is just a little ok. Sort of. Not really. The western sandwich, maybe one egg, had to search hard for any green pepper. Such small amount of filling we threw one half of the bread away and put it on the other little half. Chili was a bit good but had gnarly meat. What a horrible experience. Who WON'T GET RID OF THAT CARPET??? Have a little heart for your regulars for god's sake. Ick. Ick. Ick. read more

Hubby and I stopped in for a late breakfast the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. There was a constant stream of people so we had a short wait for a table. Hubs had the Traci special and I opted for a sausage breakfast sandwich. Our English muffins were perfectly grilled and our eggs prepared on point. The home fries were crispy and well seasoned. The french toast was basic but tasted great! Our server was very attentive without being intrusive. The old diner had so much character- from the mural to the polka dotted wall to the old hardwood floors. They offer booth, table and counter seating. The coffee was delicious. The breakfast sandwich was fine. But I'm sorry, the homemade corned beef hash was just...not fine. I owned a restaurant so I know portions. For $15.95 I got less than 1/2 cup of "hash", which consisted of mostly potato-it maybe had 1ounce of corned beef, which was bland. read more

We went to have lunch today and the food was terrible! We had gone to Tracy's diner previously and it had been good all around, but it has gone way downhill... The prices are extremely expensive even for a drink soda or chocolate milk even...It's almost 4 dollars. We had ordered a BLT and it came soggy and falling apart, and the lettuce was inedible! We also had ordered a burger cheeseburger, and it was extremely bland and very dull! Waitress was non-attentive and when we commented on prices that 'she doesn't make the prices'! When we were checking out to pay the bill, I commented on everything and the person checking us out said oh well we have a new cook that will be $50+ ! Needless to say we will not be going back ever! The corn beef was good. The oatmeal was bland. They offer milk, raisins and brown sugar. And cinnamon if you ask. The carpet is amazingly disgusting. The toilet sits up on a platform I felt I was going fall Through. It needs health code updates. It is busy and locals love it. It's been a cafe for 90 years and the post office before. Although the food here has always been mediocre at best, sometimes my husband and I would go in for lack of other options nearby. It was decent and nothing more but fine for us as an occasional stop. One day, my husband ordered me an egg white wrap with potatoes in it. We got the order to go. When he brought it back home, it was some frozen bagged home fries thrown in a container with egg whites. No wrap, no cheese. When my husband called back, he had a bit of an annoyed tone because he had already gone all the way back home and would have to travel back. I was in complete shock when I heard one of the owners on the other end of the line, telling my husband to come back in that he was going to beat him with a baseball bat. In what world does a business owner threaten someone with violence after they screw up their order? Well, my husband did go back. He walked up to him and asked him where he keeps his baseball bat. I would avoid this place! After I questioned pricing on the menu the server, Sarah, proceeded to give us the cold shoulder. While other patrons were receiving large glasses of water, we got a small glass. We ordered an egg sandwich and oatmeal. After sitting there for over 30 minutes we saw that patrons who came in after us were being served and we were not. Sarah did come over when we summoned her for more water and coffee. She did say "I'm sorry for the delay," but no explanation was offered. When a patron was served their food after being seated 15 minutes after us, bringing our wait time to 45 minutes, I asked for the check. Sarah inquired whether we still wanted our food to take with us!!!! She also charged us for a coffee refill without telling us that refills were not free (or it being indicated in the menu). Best case scenario: this family owed diner really needs to offer some training to their staff. Worst case: the servers are vindictive over the smallest slights. Upon receiving the check I was charged $8.00 for coffee. I cannot comment on the food but.................was extremely disappointed. read more

Burger was very good BUT- the young girl sat me (solo diner) in a small, tight corner without so much as slowing down (otherwise I would have gladly waited on a more desirable table). The table of people, that boxed me in, was extremely loud (as is the whole place) to the point of exhaustion! I took half home just to get out! The waitress couldn't have cared less that I was ready to go and made that obvious. I finally walked upstairs to pay and again, the young girl was rude, took ten minutes just to give me a go box, and didn't ask how things were, etc. I'm visiting the area for two weeks. Got off to a rough start, just standing awkwardly waiting to be seated. The sign says wait to be seated, including counter and outside, so I did. It wasn't until an older couple walked in that I was seated. Since I was by myself, she asked me if I could just sit at the counter...uhh. There were several tables available, so I asked for one. After that, everything got better. I got a veggie omelet which came with bread (the marbled rye was fine, grocery store bread but what do you expect) and really crunchy potatoes which were great. The only ketchup option was packets which was a little bit awkward, but ok. The restaurant is definitely rather run down and the staff doesn't go out of its way to be friendly, but it's a fine little diner, and the only early breakfast place that I know of in Belfast. It's clearly much loved by locals. For less than $15, I had a meal that filled me up all day and was very tasty. I left a happy camper. read more

I'll admit that I did not want to go to Traci's Diner when my Dad said it was where he wanted to eat lunch. The Owners of our rental had said it was "Okay" for breakfast, and the Yelp reviews were only so-so. I'm here to tell you we had a GREAT experience at Traci's. We showed up around 11:45 for lunch, and business was steady, but not busy. One waitress was servicing the entire place. She was friendly and helpful in answering our questions. Special request? No problem. ( I love that!) Two of us ordered sandwiches with chips and pickles- they were perfect, exactly what I wanted. My sister ordered the chicken tenders, and the serving size was ENORMOUS. Three entire breasts, halved and fried. The "tenders" were piled on top of french fries. Speaking of fries, the cook accidentally fried extra, and rather than have them go to waste, they brought them out to our table- for free. My Dad and my husband had the meatloaf platter with mashed potatoes and green beans. The serving was BIG. I'd be willing to bet they both had a 12oz to 16oz serving of meatloaf. Overall the food was good. The batter on the chicken tenders could have used some salt, but between the service, the portion sizes and the overall taste of all the food, I'd be a fool to award less than 4 stars. If you are in Belfast and in the mood for diner food, make sure to hit Traci's. read more

July 16 2022 7:40 AM we live nearby, eaten there for years up until a couple ago .. brought relatives in that were visiting. we tried a booth.. no room for even the most in shape (not overweight) of us.. clearly the reason was trying to squeeze in an extra booth.. I doubt the owners even ever sat in them to test drive. we moved up the steps. we ordered during a lull ... about 745AM. four people . order not right. had to wait there with three orders waiting for the last order, then had to get napkins ourselves, , had to request utensils, sat down, hey, no butters. I got up saw one on the counter, made eye contact while I snagged it , no expression from me. We ordered pancakes , one large blue..... not the whole plate, and the cakes were 1/4" if that .. I know because I do some woodworking., A side of REAL MAPLE was (would have been) $4.85 for one serving .. crazy wrong ! bullcrap pricing. order came piecemeal to the table, and got the usual leading question "everything good right?" again. the place was only half full when we ordered and most of them had their meals already.July 16, 2022 slid the bill on the table without any thanks that I could hear, or sorry about missing the silverware, butter and napkins. this was NOT a summer hire kid.. I worked in restaurants as a cook for a dozen years, my wife waited while she was in college, so we tip well and cut lots of slack, but we were both so disappointed an embarrassed fro the place. she is lucky my wife paid (and, sadly, tipped her for crap service .. ) It used to be a very good place to go for breakfast. never going back, we all had a pancake or FR toast and a side sausage, two side HF, three coffees, mid $40s total..but not worth it by a long shot. but I will write a USPS letter in case they feel like improving. If you have to carry the server when it is during a lull, it's not worth rewarding the business. The cooks were off today.. maybe it was the ticket., but the pancake batter was so watery to be so much more like a crepe than a panCAKE , I'll never know if they are 'ON' read more

My wife and I ate breakfast here on Monday October 18, 2021. We foolishly disregarded the bad reviews. I had my heart set on Lobster Benedict...So so sooooo.... Disappointing! Lobster meat was cold and tough and the egg was nearly raw. My wife went for the corned beef hash. I discouraged her because we make our own, usually with leftovers from St. Patty's Day, and I felt she would be disappointed. As she was eating the waitress explained to a nearby table that they don't make that there (As in...it comes in a CAN!!!). So I left one star because that's the lowest you can go. I would also mention that the bathrooms were filthy and quite honestly the entire place was subpar. I know, I know...we should have walked out. Do yourself a favor and believe my review. service is awful. we needed a table for 3 and waited to be seated for 20 minutes without anyone working there saying "we will be with you soon". mind you, the restaurant was half full and we could see at least ten open tables. then while we were waiting a party of six came in and got seated within 2 minutes at the counter. we went and told one of the servers who appeared to be running the whole restaurant that we were here first, and she said rudely "well i'm sure one will open up". as if there weren't many many tables available. we finally got seated and got see the very interesting look of the diner. there is a dirty carpet that is in the diner and we got seated in the very back of the diner where it was very dark and dingy. then, we ordered food which took a while for a waiter to even come over and ask what we wanted to drink. my brother who is 13 years old wanted to order something from the kids menu but it was only for ten and under, and when we asked if he could just order something off the kids menu one of the waitresses very rudely said "no because if we let you order of the kids menu we would have to let everyone order off of the kids menu." like is it really that big of a deal? just make your customers happy? once we ordered the food, two grilled cheeses, we waited 45 minutes for our food to be delivered to our table. again, the restaurant was even more empty than when we showed up. the food finally came 45 minutes after we ordered it and was not good. it is very hard to mess up two grilled cheeses but they were so small and so bland. they just added on a ton of potato chips to the plate to make the grilled cheese look bigger. and then it was pretty expensive for what you are getting and the time it takes to be ready in a half full restaurant. overall, i would not recommend going here at all. I had the lobster roll, which was a special today. It was reasonably full of meat on a nicely toasted bun with a little bit of lettuce and just enough mayonnaise to hold it together. They really don't get much better than this. I liked the coleslaw as well. it was a bit drier and not as sweet as many coleslaws I've had. Crinkle potato chips were fresh and crispy. Pepsi products. On our second visit October 2019, I could not review because we walked out. After waiting a good five minutes without having been greeted, the presumed hostess greeted us (finally!), saying she'd be with us in a minute. She then walked behind the counter and picked up her latest crochet project,and spent at least a minute (at which point we walked) showing it to one of her friends. On a walk through downtown Belfast, we happened to stop at Traci's. This diner gave us a full experience! The staff was patient and friendly. It was extremely nice that they had gluten free breads. The food was pricey for what it was, but the chowder was the best ever! read more
