But is the company reputable? And do you really want to go with a relatively new company even if is owned by your buddy. He decided, no. Newman is competitive with hundreds of 5 star reviews. He went with Newman. Subsequently we had a hail storm and neighbors were advising us to get our roof checked out. Our roof was 20 years old. I wanted to be honest with the insurance company and not submit a claim unless Tyler from Newman, who came out to give us an estimate, was sure we needed a new roof and we suffered damage beyond normal wear and tear. Plus we had 2 houses. Well one needed a new roof and the other one likely has another couple of years left. As an aside, if you turn in a claim to your insurance company, even if it is denied, you risk higher premiums or cancelation. That is why it is important to have Newman Roofing spend time assessing. In our case, our roof was more wear and tear with minimal hail. Dan and his guys were on time, even early. Weather has consistently been in the mid 90's. I was worried. But Newman keeps them well supplied with hydration. 14 man crew meant lots of vehicles, even a dump truck but they were minimally disruptive to our neighbors. Furniture moved, netting put up to minimize construction mess on house and garden areas. And then they went to work. All I can say is WOW. I am so pleased. When they were finished, the cleaned up all the mess, including using a magnetized thing for nails in driveway, patio and grass. The yard, the patio, the driveway, the porches are SPOTLESS. I highly highly highly recommend Newman Roofing. They did my kid's. They did this roof and in 2 years they will do our other roof. Price is good too.

Sid was our contact and directly supervised the work. He gave an accurate ballpark quote and was very thorough in explaining the issues and kept us up to date on the progress of work via text messages, periodic calls, and photos. Unfortunately, the job opened up some major surprises with the drain tile around the foundation as well as rotted floor structure around the chimney chase that was dumping water into the basement due to water infiltration. Sid's crew did an excellent job repairing the rotted structure in the basement that had rotted away. While this was a very expensive repair, however I highly recommend Sid and his guys. They do quality work and get it done quick. They also had good recommendations for other contractors that we need to complete the exterior work related to the structural issues (see pic below). Sid will also work with you (within reason) if you have minor changes to the work being done. He worked with his team to schedule a day that I would be able to work from home and they had me on the schedule the very next week. The day of the installation went well overall. There was a question about my OSB board and we worked through a solution. After the install there was some tar and a piece of metal that got damaged during the install. Eddie assured me that they would fix the damage and clean the siding. Sure enough a week later it was all repaired. Very grateful to the team for guaranteeing this fix as the siding was new as well. The only disappointment was the crew did not seem to do another sweep through the the magnet afer the dumpster was removed. During the work he was hardly on the job, his workers did not speak English so I had to call him many times about his workers doing incorrect installation and throwing trash everywhere even in the yard next door. They were to install Tyvek wrap but they used the incorrect fasteners, additionally when the siding is nailed down the nails are not supposed to be 100% tight to wall a small gap is required per the manufacture to allow for siding expansion. The workers did not leave the gap and now every day when the sun hits the siding it expands a loud popping sound can be heard all day long throughout the home from expanding siding, additionally when the workers were driving the nails they hammered so hard they caused over 100 nail pops inside the home that damaged the drywall that needs repaired and repainted. I had to call Hendo roofing many times during the work process about poor workmanship since no supervisor that spoke English was on the job site. Since completion in August we have reached out to him about the issues but he makes excuses he will not fix the siding or repair the nail pops. I learned from City of Grove City Ohio that he is required to be licensed, bonded and insured to work in the city (and in most cities in Franklin County contractors need to do this for each city they work in) which he apparently was not according to the building department he also was required to file proof of such and file a permit with the city, which he did not do. The city explained to me the level of protection as a consumer this would have provided and if he failed to fix the issues they would have paid out the bond to me for damages Make sure your contractor (Any trade) is bonded and insured in your city by checking your city web site and have then give you a paper copy of the permit as proof He does inferior work and will not correct his mistake No License, no insurance, no bond and no permit at that time
