One of the main attractions at Mavrix is bowling. Another is laser tag. I passed on both and checked out the arcade instead. It was time well spent because it's a pretty awesome arcade. I've been to the Bowlero in North Scottsdale and it's smaller than this one. Here, you have a bunch of fighting and driving games, interspersed with carnival-style games. I played 10 or so games total in about an hour. Wednesday is a great day to go because the games are 50% off. I didn't come away empty-handed either. With the tickets I won, I redeemed them in their prize room. It's a pretty large room too, with more prizes available than the North Scottsdale location. While I didn't have many tickets, I had enough for two pieces of candy and a T-Rex toy. Outside of what I mentioned, Mavrix has plenty of areas to sit, including a full bar. I haven't had food or drinks here, but I did take a look at the menu and it's a pretty extensive one. Definitely nicer overall than your typical bowling alley.

This two-level building also hosts Skylanes - a six interactive lanes mini bowling alley located on the upper level. There's also a small patio with a few tables & chairs adjacent to the entry line. Now I realize that the 2026 was a Summer Olympics and Curling is part of the Winter Olympics, but we didn't care Upon entry to go to the host stand and tell them what you're looking to do (activities vs bar/waiting). The space is relatively open and you can immediately see the fully stocked bar, the bowling area, the back axe throwing lanes, and the enclosed curling lanes. We opted for a package that got us unlimited games (any) for an hour. We started with curling and we didn't need any special clothes or shoes. We were lead to a lane and it's set up like shuffleboard (you can stand on either side and there's two separate color stones). There's ice where you glide your stones and you stand on rubber for traction. You can glide by hand or use a piece of equipment that is essentially a stick to help push and guide your stone. There's an attendant on duty to help any stones that are stuck or that don't make it down the lane The experience was awesome. We've always wanted to try curling, but it's difficult to find somewhere that is set up to let you do that. We were amazed that we finally tried it in a desert of all places. There are no brushes like in typical curling, but you still get a sense of the Olympic activity. The bowling was fun too, but it's a smaller version like you might see in some novelty bars. Axe throwing was that of typical ax throwing. You had a couple different sizes of axes, there's lanes and you throw at a wooden target. They had computers to input your name and keep track of points. It was sometimes difficult to stick the wooden target, but it was fun We didn't try the food or drink, but everything looked good. The staff were very helpful. It was a weekend, and it wasn't overly crowded which was nice. Overall it was a fun experience Some tips: If your stones seem to be getting stuck down the lane, ask the attendant to move you to another lane. I put my knee down on the booth when going to sit down, and an inch long glass shard (see photos) that was left in the booth lodged into my knee and made me start bleeding. When looking at the booth and the floor around the booth, we found many similar sized shards around. I immediately told a server who contacted a manager. The manager took about 10 minutes to arrive at our lane, and asked if I needed first aid (Yes, obviously, as I had blood pouring down my leg). He brought back a bandaid and antiseptic spray and asked if I wanted to fill out an incident report for documentation. I filled it out and he apologized and assured that I would be contacted by corporate. Nothing else was done to remedy the situation, and the manager didn't even move us to another lane. Did not feel comfortable finishing our round because we were worried our daughters would sit on or touch more glass. It has been nearly a week and I haven't been contacted by anyone from corporate. I would say that the business and company just tried to sweep this under the rug, but based on the glass found everywhere on and around the booth, clearly they don't know how to use a broom. Very disappointed and will not return.
