Rep called me back and explained why they are cautious about cleaning metal roofs. In short I've…read morebeen doing it wrong. He offered to make things right but his explanation was enough. I have a metal roof and gutters with gutter guards. They company that used to do an excellent job on my roof (I'll call them "JB") is a janitorial firm that appears to no longer do roofs. I called AA based on reviews and explained that my roof was quite dirty with pollen and was clear with them it was metal. They said they would come and blow the roof off and see what else could be done. They did NOT come right out and say they could not clean up pollen. They quoted me a price lower than the previous company had been charging, so I scheduled the work about three weeks out. The tech came out late in the afternoon, spent a LOT of time looking around and talking to the office and then told me that they could only blow debris off. To do a wash would take two people a full day and cost around $2,000. Sorry, that's NOT going to happen! I said go ahead and blow the roof off, there was plenty of Douglas fir cones and other debris that needed to come off anyway. The work was fine for what it was, though there's still a mess of pollen up there. I would have preferred that they just say "we don't clean metal roofs because you won't be happy with the results."

We asked several times before he started work if we needed to remove our items to protect them and also make sure that they would not be covered in dust, paint or mudding. He didn't cover any of our windows or counters and there was overspray and paint on all of it. He admitted that the job was too much and he shouldn't have taken it on. He complained to my boyfriend on several occasions that he was loosing money and that he should have charged more. So unfortunate that he was the one that set the price that we agreed to right away without asking for any discounts. My boyfriend also overheard him on the phone with someone that told him that he "needed to come back and do the job right or to not come back at all".
