Great ice cream parlor, a staple of Beaver Dam. Always a treat to come back and stop by here after traveling.

Cheap, a throwback vibe, friendly service and artery clogging food…read more So glad to see that this place is exactly the same as it was when i was a little kid coming with my grandparents for a cheeseburger and a shake. The food is dirt cheap. My Roast Pork & Gravy Plate was pure comfort food for less then $5.00. Two slices of bread, shredded roast pork, mash potatoes with gravy poured on top. The Cheese Curds were huge nuggets of cheese with a thin layer of breading. Juicy Cheeseburger and huge crunchy Onion Rings. The Banana Split was a true old fashion split. A scoop of vanilla, strawberry, chocolate ice cream, fudge, caramel, strawberry sauce with whip cream, nuts and a cherry on top. They have a cheese case and another cooler selling other dairy products. Along with maple syrup, honey, dry mixes, cow pies and other dry wisconsin products on the shelves. Come here for breakfest, lunch or dinner if you want cheap greasy comfort food and don't forget a malt or sundae. The ice cream is made on site.

This place is part retro diner and part cheese shop - open year round…read more The diner is solid and a very inexpensive place to eat - mostly burgers, sandwiches, a huge variety of fried things. For the adventurous, they offer braunschweiger and/or farmer cheese sandwiches. The milkshakes and ice cream are great. The cheese shop has an great variety of cheese and local products (butter, cottage cheese, deli meats). Their cheese is focused on the classic yellow/white variety which is a bit bland, but very inexpensive. If you are up for something a bit "diapery" -- try the farmer's cheese. The huge party platters seem like a great deal, so keep those in mind.

My habanero grilled cheese and chips were very good, and everyone liked their sandwich and soups. Kids meal included ice cream, which was very good. We all got grilled cheese variations with apples, salad and soup as sides. The chicken bacon ranch grilled cheese was overall the best. Both of the salads had rotten leaves, so best to avoid that unless you're ok picking through for good leaves. Service 5/5: the food came quickly and the staff was very friendly. Ambiance 1/5: we were very disappointed overall since they hype themselves up as an experience that includes cows. There were no cows in sight. I know during the summertime they will have baby cows, but overall to me there should be more transparency around not actually seeing cows when you visit the creamery. Other than that there is a small parking lot that can get very busy at times, but plenty of places to sit. We did love the kids playground outside but all of the bikes were broken/didn't work and the bags put away for corn hole. Overall we were really disappointed at this trip. No cows and lunch was just ok. If you are looking for a spot just for ice cream, they have amazing options and plenty of room for the kids to play, just don't tell your kids there are cows because you likely won't see any.

I…read moresaw this in town in the morning before it opened and looked at the menu and thought $7.45 for a cheeseburger is high compared to Milwaukee's custard stands and I could probably get a bar burger down the street for that money. This is an old school drive in with the young high school girls taking your order from your vehicle and they bring it back to you. I was not expecting much when I ordered the cheeseburger from a drive in because the reviews don't really tell anything about the burgers. OMG before I even opened up the burger wrapper my first thought was dam that smells like fresh beef. My second thought was dam that's not bad looking and it's a half pounder so I opened it up. My third thought was that looks like a course ground hand formed patty, fresh beef and no frozen hockey pucks here. I kept it simple with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and ketchup. My first bite was like that's not dry at all and the beef has a nice beef flavor. The bun was a perfect bun because it was a softer style and not the dry dense kind but hearty enough not to fall fall apart from all that beef. I didn't even bother asking for rare with the young cooks but it was cooked about medium with some pink left in the middle. The toppings were fresh but the onions were super thin sliced and soft, I would have asked for extra had I have known. I'm impressed that a small drive in takes the burgers seriously and uses top quality ingredients. I definitely would recommend getting a burger here and I'm going to post some good pictures to show my great experience.

They have good outdoor seating as well during the summer time. The only downside is that there isn't a lot of space inside but it's a small town so it's to be expected. The service is always pretty decent, nothing to note on that! The food on the other hand hasn't ever been my favorite. The Mac and cheese is basically glorified under seasoned Kraft mac and cheese. I tried a burger recently and it had too much ketchup and mustard on it which made it was hard to eat. The cheese curds are okay but aren't very crispy. Overall, everything is pretty overpriced. It costed me over $16 for a chocolate Malt and a small burger with no side or anything in a small town. Overall, it's definitely a fun spot for a sweet treat with friends but if you're looking for a good bite to eat, I would suggest heading 12 minutes away to Johnson Creek and go to Pinecone or to the Diner downtown if it's open.

On top of this, the prices are very moderate and there is a senior discount. We travel a 60 mile round trip weekly from Hartford to eat at Ming's and never once have we come away not completely satisfied. A fine, well-managed restaurant.
