The outside of Brittain House may not impress; next door the home has a football goal post in the back yard. The parking lot is gravel. Then you walk inside, and it's like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz opening her door to a technicolor dream in Munchkinland. The bar is decorative; the mixologist is an expert. Our group of five was seated about a half-hour after we arrived. We were okay with this; we enjoyed the relaxing environment of the bar. I ordered what might have been the BEST prime rib I've ever had, and I've had a lot of prime rib over the years. I don't toss compliments around easily, and Waupun doesn't have many dining choices. And even if they did, I think Brittain House is truly a hidden gem.

The prices for the sodas were absurd, and the side salad that I ordered with my vegan witch was flavorless. I was kind of shocked at the kids' menu options and expected better ... my daughter of course ate it, as she's 4, and who doesn't love cheese on tortilla chips, but what an odd lunch option. I would have preferred more kid friendly veggie options for the side veggies, as radishes are a bit strange to plate for a child ... my sandwich was good, but just seemed to be lacking something. Staff were incredibly nice, but with how slow service was, I would not recommend going when you're actually hungry. I also don't recommend for kids. It was a fun experience and a nice find for in the middle of nowhere, but I guess I was just hoping for a bit more ... The bathrooms are nice, and my daughter and I loved the banana and lipstick lights on the bathroom walls that were also for sale. Cute place, slow service. That we have been staring at them and standing around... The employees fixed everything. The reason for only 4 stars is because we were there for 1 hour from start to finish, and ONLY right before we left, did they start cleaning any of the tables or counter. They only cleaned our table because we asked. There was a massive pile of dirty dishes on the back counter, and only then did they start cleaning them up. I neglected to take pics of the pile of dirty dishes. To be fair, all the employees were busy the entire time, they weren't being lazy, they always had something to do. BUT cleaning tables and dishes need to be a priority especially during the busy hours. I urge and hope the owner please get a designated dishwasher and table cleaner especially during the busy hours. No one wants to sit at a dirty table with food scraps and sauce smears after someone has left. And also, please be more observant to confused customers who are standing around not sure what to do. A simple, "can I help you" would have really helped, and not made us feel ignored when we were confused. Also, a sign would help, like, "seat yourselves and order at the counter". Because the employees are also wait staff, and deliver food to the tables. It was just so confusing. Hope this helps. But otherwise, the employees were quite lovely when they did pay attention to you, and food is always good. Just be prepared to wait awhile for food.
